I have the Note 8.0 N5110. It is running the ROM found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2450005 . It is a pre-rooted version of 4.2.2. I tried connecting my Note to the Netgear PTV3000, but my tablet disconnects from the device seconds after it connects. I know that there is some restriction implemented by Samsung to prevent screen mirroring on modified devices, but how can I work around it? I have read threads in which people accomplished this feat, but the abilities used to achieve the workaround in these instances are far beyond my own. Any help would be much appreciated.

I found that too much of an issue with custom ROM, but was able to manage to get it operational. Though it was tricky and long since forgot which file to mess with. You need to find the app that does mirroring and side load. You will need to adjust permissions and all before installing.
I think I used Ti backup to remove it after backing it up.
I found going back to stock ROM with Xposed framework being the less buggy, and does just about everything just as good if not better than customized ROM. Plus support is much easier to deal with. The only draw back is I cannot overclock and undervolt with stock kernel. But, I still get the same battery time and not that noticeable difference in speeds. I get at least 8 hours with daily activity and about 1 to 2 percent drain per 2 hours with wifi active and sync enabled while on battery. Milage will differ on how many active apps you have and the frequent google play store app updates.

go to google code, search for -- Issue 38563: Upgrade to 4.1.2 broke tethering --
My tethering appears to have gone to crap since 4.1.2
There are quite a few variables so I'm not sure where the problem is, on top of that the issue is not 100% consistent.
It appears that when I am not tethered I get a decent ping on my phone (150ms, 95%)
Shortly after initiating a tether my connection goes straight to hell (300-3000ms 50%)
My laptop is often even worse than my phone.
This is usually with a full 5 bars of 'H'.
I'm gathering the ping stats from my phone with terminal emulator.
I'm using a MacBook Air.
I will try to reproduce the issue with my nexus 7 when I have some spare time.
Anyone else experiencing something similiar?

I, like many others have had this problem since 4.1.2, rolled back to 4.1.1 and WiFi tethering worked again. Back to 4.1.2, stopped working again. Installed 4.2 on Gnex yesterday hoping for fix but still no good.
As 4.1.2 is "old hat" now I have started new issue at Google for 4.2 here
code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=39618
Please anybody with same problem go there and add to report.
DO NOT turn it into a *****ing thread like so many here on xda.!!! The item to which luck02 referred for 4.1.2 at code.google.com is just full of twats ranting about their phone suppliers charges for data and crap like that.
code.google.com is to report faults and bugs and by everybody contributing pertinent information maybe Google will look for a fix. Trolling and whinging does nothing but obscure the facts...... please respect this. Just tell them model number, build and describe fault - thanks
Well there is definitely some ranting and twats involved but to my mind that's just part and parcel of being on the internet. Ignore and contribute as you can. Has anyone tried the CM build on the GNEX? Also, has anyone confirmed / denied whether third party wifi tether applications resolve the issue (requires root)?
Actually even more importantly, has anyone isolated where the breakage is actually occurring? I'm assuming it's something in the drivers / networking layer that is screwing up the routing between incoming data and the wifi layer...
I will probably downgrade if nothing else works.
So I got frustrated and rooted / installed clockwork recovery.
Moved to CM 10 and still have the same issue. I'm thinking it's actually a carrier issue for me at this point.
My carrier term expires in January and I'll probably go to a different carrier then.
Will follow up with more information as I have it, I may roll back to an older version of CM to confirm the problem is still occurring.

Definitely not carrier for me, proved by numerous attempts and firmware this weekend. Gnex running 4.1.1 everything works perfectly. Let phone do ota to 4.1.2, broke WiFi tethering and Bluetooth to vehicle completely. Reinstalled 4.1.1 thro Odin and re-partitioned at same time so completely clean install, WiFi tethering and Bluetooth worked perfectly. Continued on complete wipe track by then installing 4.1.2 thro Odin with re-partition (thus removing possibility that incremental upgrade to 4.1.2 was to blame) still no WiFi tethering or Bluetooth.
Did same for 4.2 using Odin still didn't work. Returned to 4.1.1 using Odin, everything worked.
Even made my own Odin package using radio from 4.1.1 (even tho supposedly same as 4.1.2) system and other files from 4.2 - same result, nothing worked.
To eliminate doubt used same sim card in two HTC phones running 4.0.4, both showed correct working and tethering and Bluetooth. Conclusion, not carrier/ supplier related, but surely random hardware/ firmware incompatibility on some examples of Gnex for unfortunate souls such as us
Tried two WiFi tethering apps with exact same result... shows tether as working, greyed out WiFi icon on tab and no go on laptop or desktop....I have spent hours on this to no avail
Have you tried any network diagnostics while not tethered?
I may be getting carrier and 4.1.2 issues. I was running some ping tests while not tethered yesterday. Full 5 bars of 'H+' running CM10 and I was getting horrible signal. More than 50% dropped packets and long ping times.
I'll roll back to an older CM sometime soon and see if there's a difference over the next couple of days.
Thank you,

I'm Noob, I got problem same error on 4.2 and 4.2.1, this issue over half a month.
I have google some website, found have several people like us have this issue and still no idea to fix it...
Mostly couldn't connect to laptop or Mac Book. For me is PlayStation Vita (firmware 2.0 Wifi only)
My PS Vita could deal with my galaxy Nexus on 4.1.2 , but 4.2 is could reach Internet correctly.
I have tried several Wi-Fi Device to connect my Galaxy Nexus,
My PC , My PS3, My PSP, My Uncle Galaxy Nexus 4.1.1 (Samsung image) are working fine.
Only my PS Vita couldn't...
But base on others, have same issue on other device, so I did think this issue may cause by 4.2.
Base on this issue, I have try "wifi-tether" , whatever this download on Google play! or "3.3 pre-2" on their website.
I have it running on Factory 4.2 , 4.2.1 Rooted + Super user, this couldn't work correctly.
Running on KALO 2.0 ROM, this have error on "Clamping MMS"....
No Luck for me.
My GNexus is only one device at the moment, which could let my PS Vita online... I have some PS Vita game need running online.
This force me stay on 4.1.2 and try disable System update notification next minute, for several weeks or month until the solution come...
Or... Anyone could build a patch which could let 4.2 using 4.1.2 Wi-Fi tethering engine?
Hi Guys,
I'm really new to doing all this stuff. Got my phone rooted on a stock mod and am running the latest TWRP. I'm really unsatisfied with the JB 4.1.1 in terms of speed and would like to downgrade back to ICS 4.0.4. I've looked at a few threads on how to do this but there isn't really a direct answer. From what i've read it's just flashing the old stock rooted rom using Odin but is there anything else I have to do? Also all the other tutorials seem to be for CWM which I haven't had much success in installing. I just don't want to trip the flash counter. Thanks for any help.
ODIN is the only way to downgrade from a 4.1.1 to 4.0.4. You can get more information from here --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1771687
If I were you, would try other ROMs such as Frosty, DaRTHSTALKER, and WICKED first before spending so much time downgrading. There are some steps you can do to speed up your phone including removing un-needed apps such as weather, stock, SCloud, freezing the sync apps like google account (only sync when needed), or over-clocking your CPU.

+1 for debloating. That's the problem.
What issues are you having with getting CWM on your phone?

Thanks for the link. That was the thread I used to initially root my phone. I'm a little iffy on putting on custom roms as i've read that some of them mess up the calling and tethering and etc.
I've also run the de-bloater using the recommended settings. Should I go further? The phone itself isn't that slow for the most part but it lags at times. I find it extremely annoying when it lags when i'm typing a text message. Which is one of the main reasons i'm even trying to do this.
Also would downgrading trip the flash counter? Thanks for all your help so far guys. :good:
It sounds like some apps is constantly running in the background. Find out what apps is causing that issue and freeze it to see if it helps.
Anyway, in regard to the flash counter, you can use triangle away to reset the counter before downgrading.

Jellybean is way ahead of ICS in terms of batterylife and speed, the problem is on your end, try many of the rom's in the dev section, my rom i easily push 4 hours screen time. Make sure you stick to wifi as it uses less juice, turn wifi off when your away from a hotspot, keep bluetooth and gps off if your not using them. Limit the app's you have running in the backround

That's weird because I never had this issue when I was using ICS. My RAM usage is never usually past 700-800/1.5gb. I always clear it and clear active programs as well. I would love it if I could just fix the issues without having to downgrade but I really don't know what it is at this point aside from the upgrade that could be causing this. I also have uncapped internet from my cell provider so I never use WIFI. Those things are always off. It's not so much battery life i'm concerned about it's sheer speed. I also don't use bluetooth and once in a blue moon i'll use GPS. Needless to say, I also shut down every night when I go to bed.

Have you tried the 4.2.2 Linaro base Roms? They really fly. Check the original development thread.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda premium
So, I have a Verizon LG G3, and I recently rooted it and whatnot. I am currently working on a post for how to do all that good stuff soon. However, I installed LiquidSmooth 5.0.2 ROM for its stability and also for the ability to install Xposed. Everything was fine, until I started to have WiFi issues. It would have trouble turning on, and refuse to connect to most networks. So, as I could not find any helpful posts, I decided to make one. The solution that I found was this rather ugly but effective app, "FXR WiFi fix and rescue", which appears to restart all WiFi-related processes. Since I'm new here, I can't post the direct link, but you should be able to find it with relative ease in the Play Store. After running the app, which does not require root, I restarted my phone, and all was well. From what I have seen, this fixes various issues for various different phones. Go ahead and try it on yours.
As for batter issues, I can't really say that the battery life on this ROM was bad, but it wasn't great, either. So, I decided to download both Greenify and Amplify, both of which require root and Xposed (if you don't know what these are, I would NOT recommend screwing around with this stuff until you feel that you are well educated and understand the risks. As Sherlock would say, "Do your research!"). After that, instead of getting 5 hours of battery life, I now get a full day. A FULL DAY. I use my phone rather consistently throughout the day for different purposes, such as music, research, and social media. I woke up at 6 a.m., and it is now 10:30 at night, and I still have 25 percent battery. Even coming from the behemoth Samsung Galaxy Note 3, this is phenomenal. I believe it works by shutting down unnecessary background services during standby that Android is known to run.
So, I don't really think that either of these solutions are specific to any ROM or phone, so try it on yours, and let me know how it works for you!
For those of you that want the specifics of my phone, here you go:
Model: Verizon LG G3 (VS985), 32 GB
ROM: LiquidSmooth LS-LP-v4.0-2015-01-25
Android Version: 5.0.2
Rooted? Yes
Xposed? Yes
Recovery: Bump'd TWRP
Hi
I've been using a Lollipop 5.0.1 Note 4 port ROM on my Note 3, tethering worked like a charm. I've used up to 125GB monthly for the past 4 months on T-Mobile tethering to my Mac, AppleTV, tablets, desktops, laptops... you name it. Obviously custom ROMs aren't perfect. Battery life is horrible, NFC & GPS doesn't work, Bluetooth and WiFi issues, some stock apps don't work as they should, etc...
I had to upgrade to T-Mobile's Official firmware due to a big malfunction that erased all my data and almost bricked my device. Immediately rooted and downloaded a Deodexed and Knox free Tmo firmware. In just a day I hit the cap on my 5GB tethering plan and my speeds have been reduced to 128kb... Spotify doesn't even load any music on my iPad and I don't even wanna try loading Netflix on my AppleTV.
I've been wondering wth makes a custom ROM able to tether freely and how I could apply that to my "almost" stock ROM. I've read so many threads and comments, applied some suggestions and used some apps and none works for me. I think the best workaround is to break Tmo's APN, but I can't edit it. I'm not a developer neither a noob, but any help would be really appreciated.
Thanks

From the main page of the Note 3, not the T-mobile version. I've been using Dirty Unicorns. Battery life is great at least I think. I came from an HTC One M8. The tethering works fine for me. Except there was some leakage of around 200 MB, though I think it depends what detects it. Pretty sure whenever, I update League of Legends that's what detected the leakage. Other than that. I use to play WoW and any steam games, and of course services like YouTube, Netflix, Hulu. No leakage there for certain. I myself not a big TouchWiz fan. So yes, this is your stock 5.1.1 with Dirty Tweaks of course. Give it a shot. I love the rom, but since I'm an addict, I'm always looking for something to flash on my phone. Good luck :good:
Hey so I've been having this issue with my Galaxy A50 where the wifi would keep hiccuping in a constant pattern, this is very noticeable when I try to stream games using either Steam Link or Moonlight, the wifi would cut for like a split second each 5 ish seconds. I did however find a workaround, and that it so enable and disable airplane mode, it would completely fix the hiccups.
So today, I regretted updating my phone so much (7th of July update), because now, the hiccups are back and they are more constant than ever. The trick I'd use to make the wifi stable no longer works, I need to keep airplane mode enabled at all times to avoid these hiccups.
I would like one of either solutions: can I fix this issue once and for all, because it's supper annoying, I tried removing my sim cards and all but the issue persists, if there is no fix for this, then I'd like to revert to the previous version I had, I have already downloaded the files from Sammobile, but I'm worried that it would brick my phone or even refuse to install period, here's the ROM that I'd like to install:
https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-a50/firmware/SM-A505FN/SER/download/A505FNPUS5BTF1/347209/
I've explained this issue a bit better on the steam forums, so I'm gonna copy what I typed there;
Thank you very much in advance.
Okay so, recently I got a brand new Galaxy A50 phone, and whenever I'd try to stream games (over local network using WiFi) I'd get frequent and consistent hiccups that last about a split second each 3 seconds ~, I suspected that the issue could be from my phone being faulty or whatever, but I tried my brother's phone which is the same as mine, but the issue persisted.
On very rare occasions, the hiccups would not occur and the stream would be absolutely perfect, so I know for sure it might not be a hardware issue and that a stutter free experience is possible for sure, however I have no clue how to keep it consistent.
Mind you I have tried many other devices, my old Galaxy S5 and S6, even tried a Huawei phone and an Oppo phone and they all seem to work just fine, I even tried different streaming services like Parsec, TeamViewer, Moonlight etc... So the issue is certainly not my network as it is working just fine with other devices.
The A50 is a pretty popular mid-range phone so I'd expect at least someone to use Steam link (or similar apps) on it and experience this problem, yet I haven't found a single post about this issue online, the only thread that pops up is another one of mine related to this issue (on Reddit).
Can anybody help me come up with a solution? I tried quite literally everything I can, including updating my OS and all of my apps.
Thank you in advance
