Does anyone know how to remove the stock Tmobile Mobile hot spot app? My Note 3 is fully rooted. I looked through many threads and no luck...there is no apk for it under system/aps
Download Titanium Back Up from the Play Store and search for it under "batch freeze". Just make sure you have just the hotspot checked or it will literally freeze all the apps in your ROM..

Well, I don't know the name of the actual app. Just look for the icon when you're going through the freeze list

it's in /System/Priv-App folder.......
it looks like the hotspot app may be linked into the SecSettings.apk......
I have the same problem & it looks like the hotspot "app" is really just a link to the tethering menu (like louforgiveno was saying) & thus cannot be frozen. The only real option is to hide it in your launcher. I see you haven't posted in a few days so if you've figured out something else let me know

Hey guys, I just got an S3 3 days ago, just got paid again and was wondering if I should go ahead and spring for the note 2 but everyone keeps telling me since the note 2 has exynos, it will be hard to develop for or something? I've had an iPhone for 5 years so I'm a clinical retard when it comes to android stuff. It almost seems like the people saying that are kind of jealous that they don't or can't get the note 2. I was just wondering if you can easily root the note 2 and flash CM10, because I hate bloatware and love CM10 sounds. If CM10 isn't available is it possible to de bloat it at all?
De bloating is no problem. CM10 will lose the S-pen functionality on this monster.

Thanks for the reply brother. Another quick question, I used a very easy toolkit to root my S3, I don't remember who made but it was in green text and in console. Is there anything like that available for the note 2, it was amazingly simple to use and easily un rooted my S3, I've been on Android for all of 4 days so excuse my nubishness. Lol
Right now it is a little more difficult to root than a 1 click method...but in time I bet the developers will make it happen..
MY honest opinion...get the Note II...

Yeah I'm gonna go ahead and spring for the note 2, couple more questions and once again my apologies for being so noobish, is there a way to de bloat and get the quick reply texting, like CM10, without rooting?
*EDIT* Also is there way to get the CM10 sounds? I love the ringtones and sms notifications.

I rooted within 5 minutes of getting the phone, but I would imagine that this only applies if you're rooted. AT&T doesn't want you taking its bloat/spy/malware off, so I really doubt they'd let an unrooted user go through and delete the apps.
I'm waiting for the Multi-view update before rooting. Save myself from having to unroot. And as for bloatware, you can just "disable" it - without rooting.
And as for it being "dead in the water".... what you talking about? News to me...

As far as rooting goes... There is a method on here that literally takes about 3 mins from beginning to end.. very easy. Once rooted, just download and install Cleanrom Lite 1.0...this rom is debloated and extremely fast/smooth. There are plenty of sms apps that provide quick reply... gosms/chompsms/handcent are just a few. This is one awesome phone and I wouldn't worry too much about development, or lack thereof.

No need to root to de-bloat. I'm on the stock ROM, haven't seen a need to root yet.
1. Go to: "Settings | Application Manager" and swipe over to the "All" tab.
2. Find what you want gone (i.e. all of the AT&T apps) and tap it.
3. Clear data, Clear cache. Some apps might also require you to "uninstall updates".
4. Force stop.
5. Disable.
You're done. If you later want to re-enable something, scroll down to the bottom of the "All" list ... it has everything you've disabled listed there. I've disabled about 32 things that came preloaded, including almost all the Samsung cloud stuff, GMail, all the Google Sync services, all the Google additional services (apps like Google+ and Google Play Magazines/Movies & TV/Music, not Android system services), with no issues whatsoever.

yes go to setting-application manager slide to the right until u see all apps then scroll down to any app u want to debloat select then disable. Boom the app will disappear. Remember this method only disable the app if u want to delete them then need root. Learn about Odin stuff that easy for new noobs. Good luck

Well, I guess Go Sms it is. Out of all the Roms I've been using, only Blu Kuban and this Rom have issues with MMS. The Goodness had it down pat, there weren't any issues with their messaging apps. Maybe someone from their team can provide some assistance for the Devs for these other 2 roms. Everything else is great!

Try this. The APN backup and restore method works about 80% of the time film me. But I think it is more about coverage and signal where I usually am. I have TiB premium but you can copy / paste app in system/app with a root explorer

There are no galaxy s4 apps "for sprint" lol... just download the system dump, extract the APK file you want, put it on your phone (push into system/apps, set permissions, etc) and see if it works! Of course always make a backup before trying something new!
Update:
I decided to close this project. Disable the Carrier IQ service is simply easiest and safest way than trying to hook service methods. I recommend to download Disable Service App and use it.
Original text:
I found the Carrier IQ client library inside framework files on my internation D802. Quite bad surprise as I thought such "feature" is usually in US-only versions.
com.carrieriq.iqagent.client is hidden inside /system/framework/telephony-common.odex.
Anyway, I don't like to have this code sleeping there and waiting for something to activate it. I didn't find any Carrier IQ service running on D802, but I simply don't like that LG put/left support for it there.
This Mod will hook these IQClient methods:
Code:
shouldSubmitMetric
reportKeyCode
checkSMS
checkWAPPush
These methods will always return FALSE, which I believe means do not submit or report anything.
Then this Mod will replace this IQService method:
Code:
onCreate
And make it simply call stopSelf();, which will stop it just before it even start.
You can download my mod here: Removed
If you are looking for other method to disable Carrier IQ on your device, you can follow freebee269 steps here.
1 March - Update:
Project closed.
10 Dec - Update:
AT&T ROM contain libiq_client.so and libiq_service.so native Carrier IQ libraries inside /system/lib and there is com.carrieriq.iqagent.service.IQService library inside /system/framework/com.lge.core.odex. I'm looking into disabling the IQService now.
12 Dec - Update:
Added CIQ Service smali source code (from com.lge.core) and CIQ Client smali source code (from telephony-common) as attachment. Released version 1.0.2 with IQService detection and disabling.

Please try and launch it. Application will first detect if that library is present in your system. Then it will check if these methods are there.
Like I wrote before, I think whole Carrier IQ is working in AT&T ROM = D800 as it have native libraries in /system/lib/ folder. Other LG G2 versions without this native libraries have only support, but no service actually running. At least I could not see any similar service running on my D802.

I just found that com.carrieriq.iqagent.service.IQService is hidden inside /system/framework/com.lge.core.odex on AT&T ROM (D800). My D802 doesn't have such code. I will begin to look into disabling this service now.
another way you can disable CIQ on d800 is if you are stock rooted you can go to the play store and download an app called disable service. it's free and doesnt run in the background. open the app and swipe to the left to get to the system apps tab. then click on android system. inside android system, uncheck IQService. then reboot your phone. CIQ should now be disabled.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, there are multiple ways how to achieve that. For example your can execute few commands in shell to disable that activities. I know about that.
I'm trying to do it another way by using great Xposed framework, explore internal CIQ functionality and then disable it piece by piece. It's always better to have multiple choices.

No worry, I'm fine with that.
I think I will include your step in OP and make it more clear to not confuse readers.

Yeah, sure. I could do that tonite (original CIQ smali). There are so many threads about CIQ, but actually nobody post source code of it. It was trouble to get code of IQService as it is not present on my device. My current changes are in OP, IQService changes not done yet.
I am rooted and was wondering how to remove them. I have seen tutorials but those are for LTE devices.
FireFds Kit, you need xposed though.

Are you on Marshmallow? If so, go to /system/ect/permissions, and rename com.sec.feature.findo.xml to com.sec.feature.findo.bak. Reboot, and those items should be removed from your drop down.

Thank you! It worked!
Although, does it affect anything else?

Not a whole lot, but I can get my self out of trouble, if I need to, lol. I don't post much at all, any more, and almost never in the Tab S forum. I'm a little more active in the Note 4 forums.
to make it stop completely... rename the sfinder and quick connect app in system/app and system/priv-app
free up more ram for your device since it will still running on background if you just disable it from the drop down menu.
