[Q] Z1 C Battery Life - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi All
I'm set and ready to buy this device or the Nexus 5 ( 32gb variant )
And I was wondering how long the battery would last for a light user like me who removes all the bloatware on the phone ( All of them )
I also never use 3G or 4G and always on 2G...WI-FI is never or rarely used and I plan to underclock it to 1.7Ghz because ( even Xperia Z a 5" Phone is only running 1.5 I see no point of making a 4.3" phone run max speed )
And of course I don't install FB and Twitter on my phone my gaming habits are kept to a 10-15 Minute mark and most of the time the phone is just in my bed and i pull it out to watch some 720p vids
Will it last really long for me
Thanks alot guys :good:

With that use case, I really don't see why you'd need this phone at all, or any smartphone really. It would be like using your Ferrari only to drive to the mailbox and back.
Save yourself the money and get a Moto G instead - it has a better screen & epic battery life and is more ergonomic, plus you could buy 3 of them for the price of a Z1C Or go for the Nexus 5 and use it as a phablet with a beautiiful 1080p but battery-sucking screen.

With the use you mentioned probably 3 days easily.

Light use probably last you more than 3 days. Yeah, agreed with ghtop that you won't fully utilized Z1C at all and only longer battery life. I would suggest Moto G to save some $.

One year later: How is your G Pro holding up?

With all the hype around iPhone 6+ and Galaxy Note 4, I have to say the G Pro is still holding up great!
Performance is still smooth, maybe not as blazing fast as the latest A8 but does everything perfectly.
Battery life is going down a bit, with OEM battery I am at 2-2.5 hours screen time on LTE, 3-3.5 hours screen time on pure WIFI, my only envy for wife's S5 which has twice the battery life. If I upgrade to Note 4 later this year, battery life would be the only reason. Or maybe I will just bite the bullet, take the bulk and get the Zerolemon 9300 . . .
Holding up very well indeed.. I have largely remained on stock, very happy with the performance.. Battery life I get 5.5 hrs on WiFi only, 4.5 hrs types on mix of 3g and WiFi.. Not bad, I'm sure s5 or note 4 are not very far ahead

With a deep sleeping kernel I'm doing pretty well. My device is still in mint condition and I plan on keeping it that way.
Greenifying always helps battery, especially if you are root and have xposed. Turning off sync helps too. Using BetterBatteryStats and having a wakelock blocker is a lifesafer as well.
I run CM ROMs (Beanstalk,CM Nightly, PAC, etc.), I get anywhere between 3-5 hours of screen-on time depending on how I use my phone. It's not too bad of a battery. But I'm sure there will be better ways to save on the way.
If you have root you can always underclock, switch governors, and turn on some CPU multicore power saving in trickster.
These are all, of course, if you haven't done these already
Hi. My phone is still as strong as a beast. Battery life with CM/AOSP based ROMs is really not as good as stock, but can compensate. My G PRO is still holding up as it should, but of course who wouldn't want an upgraded device like G3? And with LG's software update setback, I guess my next device would be an Xperia Z3 or Z2.
After a full day with moderate use and medium processor heavy game playing for maybe an hour total along with only having one core of my processor enabled I am still at 33% battery. I use greenify and have a couple wakelock blocks set along with using common sense like turning off WiFi when I'm not using it.

What are you using to block wake locks? I have used xposed plus both wake lock terminator and nlpunbounce but they are a hit and miss..for me the biggest headache has been the msm_hsic_host wake lock, for which there seems to be no block possible

I'm running the Beanstalk 4.4.4065 ROM which has a built in wakelock blocker
I have been using CM11 nightlies for quite long. and the battery last only up to 12 hrs. I was so fed up and even thought of getting a new phone.
and in the mean time, downloading and flashing kdz files also never successful. i went to LG service center in SG to restore it to stock image, they refused me. I was nearly at the point of throwing away my 18 months old phone.
then, I wanted to give it a last chance, I installed the LG Mobile support tool on another laptop (which runs 32bits windows 8.1) and give it a try.
voila, it goes through, and i got the latest stock firmware for my region (E98820b-SEA-XX). Battery life???? with the same usage that can only last 10 hours on CM, i got 23 hrs with the stock firmware. For the sake of my ego, i rooted it with TowelRoot (thanks to our xda member geohot).
then I was curious to see how my phone is compared to the iPhone 6+ on paper, i do some comparison. then to my surprise, i found out that Apple uses the same LCD (5.5" 1080x1920 IPS LCD) and same photo sensor (1/3" BSI sensor).
and on top of that, my G Pro got IR blaster, Wireless charging, NFC tagging, replaceable battery, which iPhone still doesn't have. Surely, I'll keep my phone for another year, (and will keep saying these iSheeps that my 2 yrs old phone is better than their iCheap 6+)

LG G Pro OS great but yeah ever since I had a Z1 and Z2 I wanna go Sony again. There is just something about those phones that is magic. I love Xperia Z devices.

I just started using the LG G Pro again today. I really like this phone and it has held up very well.
I loaned my Moto X to my daughter so she can try an Android phone.
My wife has upgraded to an LG G3.
I had the original Optimus G and the G Pro just fells like a bigger version of the G.
Right now we have 3 LG phones and two LG tablets.
6 months after I bought it the phone is much, much slower and also I'll be buying a new battery

You make it seem like this phone is horrible. Compared to all the other phones I have had it is the best one.
I bought my E980 almost 2 years ago. it works like the first day i bought it no screen burn no button functionality issues no broken screen and speedy as always.
I have got this phone for 3 months now. Two weeks ago the touch buttons did not work anymore. Used softkey navigation as a workarround. Today the bottom of the screen stopped responding on any touch. Byebye softkey navigation. I will have to send it to the LG-repair centre
A shame, I really love this device but this is a setback.
Battery life has suffered since the update to 4.4.2. Speed wise, I feel like it has slowed down some, not sure if its related to the 4.4.2 update or just the aging file system. More recently, I was taking a video, and the image started stuttering to the point that the camera app crashed. The video file preview was black and the file un-playable. Not sure what exactly happened. Even then, OGP has been the best Android phone I have owned.
Mine will be one year old in few days.
The day I bought it, I had to choose between OGPro, Xperia Z and Note 2 - my goal was to buy great phone I wouldn't change for at least two years for under 450€... so it seems to me that I made some good choices in my life I've god E988 version (only one I found here, GPro was never officialy sold here) and I love it.
Today, phone is rooted, with CWM recovery, had few rom swaps (currently on Beanstalk), some scratches on the back panel but everything else is as new. Battery life is excellent, WiFi/mobile and bluetooth are constantnly on and it gets about 4-6 hours of screen time (with auto backlight on), and I remember getting around 38-40h of battery life without problems. With stock Jellybean it was even better, but then, I had no sync and some other services.
Only problem I had with this device (and still have sometimes) is damn audio skipping. Nothing (except maybe blocking AudioMix with wakelock blocker, still testing that) helps.
I chose between G2 and this, but I chose this because of the external SD capability and the removable battery and larger screen. It's fast enough for my liking.
still holding up well
Im still loving my gpro. Ive been using the zero lemon for the longest time. Never any worries on battery life. Tradeoff is phone is thicker with battery. So last night i decided to rock the original battery and case. Man i forgot how slim n sexy this phone really is. This phone imo can easily hold its own against new big screen iphone.
Im having that infamous wakelock burn up battery also. I will use original battery for a while and see. But i have a feeling ill be putting back in the zero lemon. Even with wakelocks, that battery is hard to kill.
mines holding up great but my screen is cracked up...

[Q] LG G3 vs Xperia Z2

Hi , guys , i want new phone for next 3 years. I am not planning to root it by any chance. I am done with that. I want phone for 550 dollars max. Tried Note 3 ,amazing but camera weak in low light. Going to swap it for G3 or Z2. Now i have to decide. Want reliable phone , no rooting , fast and snapp , 5,2 inch or more , one of the best cameras , price 550 dollars max.
Thank you.
If its not theZ3, go with the G3. Z2 is "obsolete" in tech world. (Oh i'm so gonna get flamed for saying that xD)
We'll be getting Lollipop in a couple of days, its fast and snappy, and the phone has a great camera, great battery and a great screen.
Lowlight isnt impressive, but then again, which phone Lumias and the new iPhones aside is...?
If Battery life is your main concern, Then Go for Z3(Dont buy Z2)
Z3 Battery Endurance Can Differ from 5Hours SOT on heavy usage to 6.30Hours SOT on Moderate
Battery Life on G3 is Average. .. Coming from Moto E which gives me Atleast 5-5.30Hours SOT ON HEAVY USAGE, I'M disappointed In LG G3.. Feels Like I'M Regretting buying this...
Battery Problems Aside, It A very Good Phone/Phablet
I own a Z2. In a few weeks my wife will be eligable for an upgrade and will have my Z2 whilst I get a new phone.
Z2 has great battery life, easily the best of any android phone I've had (About 8 since HTC Hero) and camera is great too.
Low light is way better than any previous phone I've had. In a slightly dark room the photo comes out looking brighter than it looks to the human eye. Yes you'll get noise but way better than say One X or Nexus 4.
I'm thinking of getting a G3 rather than a Z3, for following reasons:
Looks. I find the Sony phones a bit boring. And G3 bezel impresses me.
Removable cover. This means I can replace the battery. My wife's One X is 2.5 years old and battery is rubbish now, it needs replacing. Battery life will steadily decline after 1 year so think how long u will have phone.
I'd say camera is fairly similar so not much difference there.
Battery life is prob better for Z2 but its rare for me not to have mine charging in work and I rarely have to have it last a long time without charging anyway.
So for me, a G3.
But you'd never complain if you got a Z2 instead.

Get it or no

Well im just asking if i should get it or no.
I want to replace my laptop with it and a small keyboard. 10.5 LTE with Supposatly the Samsung exynos that is a 8 core but seem it not in reality like samsung lied
I want to hear the good and bad.
EDIT : Hello bonami2 , I posted the reply below before i realized it was you from NBR Forum, Welcome to XDA
It depends on what you want to do, if you want to watch video`s most of the time, get it, it has an amazing display, if you want to browse the internet most of the time, dont get it as the oled display eats the battery when it shows white, you are better of getting an lcd tablet, gaming kills the battery on all tablets so it does not make that much difference between oled and lcd.
You can get browsers that have night mode, where white is black so it save a load of battery power but it looks like crap.
John.
Don't get it. Poor battery life in general. Horrible idle battery life with Lollipop. The CPU is outdated by now. If you have to get a large screen tablet right now, go with Ipad Air 2 or Google Nexus 9. Moreover, we're slowly approaching the holiday season. Normally all new products are released in the second half of year. Even Samsung's Tab S replacement is rumored to be arriving in the second half of this year.

The new cpu for the tab s2 is supposate to be only 50% better in singlethread. and Enable the hmp to use the 8 core and have a higher clock and new architecture.
But at the end my 4 old Galaxy nexus from samsung from like 2011 2012 is still able to browse website with it old crappy dual core ahah. with 1/6 the singlethread
Poor battery life well i seen 15 hour of movie time with black movie. Using Dolphin and A night mode should allow to have better battery.
Not interrested in any apple product even if i was forced to.
At the end there is nothing on the market that seem worth the money. Except the tab s and i do know how to save battery with the recent research and own experience with my old Amoled phone.
So im gonna try it and return it if im not happy
And put the money toward some gpu
Anyways im getting it mid july and i heard it could be released in that time frame. Will see.
Thank you for all the negative
I have no problem with battery usage. It lasts a long time for me.
Tablet design is one of the best, the screen is fantastic. No issues with lag in normal day to day usage.
Websites with heavy usage of ads and graphics, can exhibit a little lag, but nothing out of the ordinary or that bothers me.
Sound quality is great. Touchwiz isn't the best implementation of an interface, not compared to HTC sense on my M8. However all in all quite happy with it.
And yea it me from nbr decided to post in case i could learn other stuff Google is good but we never have enough info
Thank you

Im mostly interrested in the multitasking thing samsung made i tried it on the old Note 2 and it work fine
Ps i have a 6000mah external battery
Gonna use it to power the external hdd im gonna get later down the road.
100% laptop replacement with storage everywhere

Oh yea but 15 hour on the tab s 10.5
yea im staying aways from that crap 4:3 ratio i have no idea how people can like that i had a laptop with that ratio for about 10 years until the screen hinge broke + the battery + the screen itself go humidity stuck in the panel and the fan started rattling lol
Ended using it as a server and finnaly recycled it after it started sounding like an airplane
My battery monitor says around 12hrs video playback at hd resolution depending on how bright the video is, Harry Potter=Yes , Dune=No

My battery is ok. Not good overnight on standby so charge it or switch it off.
I get an occasional freeze on lollipop when watching films. Was no problem on kitkat. Hope the next release fixes the movie issue.
Love the design. If the s2 is even better I may be tempted - but not by a smaller screen (as suggested).
That's out in the next month or 2 isn't it? Why not wait. Then you can buy my S lol
My T800 only looses 1-2% in 16 hours according to the app below, how much do you loose, have you tried finding out what is causing your battery drain.

First of is this a very good tablet.... yes. There is a handful of flagship class tablets that are made for android and for the most part they each have small advantages and disadvantages over each other. The best thing you can do is figure out exactly what type of stuff you want to do on your tablet.
Second this tablet is a Big.little 2X quadcore, so calling it an octacore is both cprrect and deceptive at the same time. Honestly I have no clue if Samsung enabled HMP (heterogeneous multi processing- the ability to use both quad cores at the same time) or not but I have noticed that the tablet is usually more gpu bound then it ever gets processor bound. In practice the faxct that there are better processors out there (tegra k1) does not mean that this tablet can not handle almost any program you can throw at it (that runs on it-- no tegra zone or xcom).
Lastly I would not recomend this tablet, the nexus 9, Nvidia shield, Sony z4, or any other android tablet as a laptop replacement. Or to be more precise I could not use one in that role. It has nothing to do with speed, this tablet is far faster then the pentium 4m dell I used to have. It is not so much the size of the tablet the 10.1 inch screen is not much different then some ultrabook screens I have used. The main issue in using an android tablet as a laptop replacement is Android. If you could load linux on this tablet amd run it then it might be a little closer to a working replacement, but even then the arm architecture severely limits program compatibility. The lack of even 1 full sized usb port (yes I know it has otg) limits accessories that can be used.
If you only ever need to do some very light document editing, then yes this can replace a laptop. If you need to do more then that and you absolutly have to have a tablet form factor then buy a surface 3 (never a 1 or 2, windows rt is useless) or other x86 based windows 8.1 tablet. If you want the best of both worlds then for the price of a galaxy tab s abd a keyboard you can get a convertable tablet/laptop and have a laptop for heavy workloads and a tablet for fun all in one.

I think it fit perfectly. Anyways most current laptop are overpowered and windows cant even utilise the hardware correctly.
10hour battery life on a laptop is pretty hard to do
The review in the link below quotes approx 7.5 hrs internet browsing which is almost the lowest, but the video playback is the longest, have a read of the full review if you have not yet.
Try "UC Browser" it has the best night mode i have see.

If younare looking for multimedia playback (videos and songs) and some internet browsing then yes you are correct, you don't need a full sized laptop. Tbh you really do not need a seprate bluetooth keyboard for thst either and that was partly what I was basing the thought you might want to do more then that on the tablet. Word processing for a document of any reasonable length, is lously on android even with a bluetooth or usb otg keyboard.
If you want to watch movies or listen to music on the go do not forget to buy a microSD card, this tablet supports up to 128GB but 64GB is a far better value. 16GB (or even 32GB lte model) is not enough memory after programs and the OS to store more then a few hours of moderate quality (480p-720p) videos and evem kitkat reads multimedia from removable storage with out any need to mess around with roms or root. Heck it is the one thing Google thinks should go on a microSD card, that and pictures.

What's the battery life like?

Spec-wise, this phone seems great, with the glaring exception of the battery's size.
I'm hoping someone with the phone could let me know, ideally as detailed as possible, what the battery life is like. Thanks!

Initial tests mentioned a screen on time of 4h+, which is nothing to write home about.
On another hand, even though we have a "mere" 3k mAh battery & 5.7" screen, the latter is amoled, which should offer considerable savings as compared to LCD.
I'm waiting for my unit to be shipped, will do some tests & share.

This is why it is somewhat tempting to go with the $399 5.5" model and the Snapdragon 625. You lose a bit from the 5.7" SD 820: no AMOLED, smaller sensor in the camera, only 4 GB of RAM, but based on battery tests with other phones with the 625, the life could be better than the 820 model.
Review units in the U.S. are starting to appear, TechnoBuffalo recently received their 5.7" and did a quick preview on it.
FYI. PCMagazine has a review up of the 5.7", SD 820 version. They managed about 7 1/4 hours on their video run-down test. The Axon 7 with the same test ran about 6 hours, Samsung S7 Edge, around 10(!).

CNet liked the regular Zenfone 3 in a recent review. Though they too, thought the Zen UI was way too heavy. Seems to be a problem with some of the imported Android phones lately.
At this point I won't get a Deluxe unless it can be rooted, which I think is likely to happen based on Zenfone 3 progress.
It's the best thing you can atheistically look at. Battery life will get you one day of strong usage. Which combined with USB type-c that's nothing to be bothered by. I'd give the overall phone a solid 8.5 out of 10.
Battery life is terrible.
The same apps I use with no issues on other devices (including other sd820) cause a severe battery drain on the z3d.
My guess is the power management policy in the HAL, framework, or issues with the scheduler on the kernel level.
Initial investigation points to communication apps (Riot, Conversations), which cause a lot of wakelocks (then again, no such issues on other devices).
Once (& if) we have a bootloader unlock, this will be one of the first topics to address in custom kernel builds or custom rom builds.
I go ten hours at work with 2 plus screen time, 30-45 minutes on phone, 3 emails syncing, Facebook, instagram, Snapchat, two phone numbers, and I leave with 50% battery.
Sent from my ASUS_Z016D using Tapatalk
I'm in the same boat as mostly everyone else here. I'm heavily on my phone while at work as well (roughly 6 hours of constant use on most days with heavy internet usage as well). I stay at work 2 days in a row every 3 days, and in that time frame, I still go home with 30-40% battery still left on my phone.
If I were still using my note 4, I would have had to put the phone e on the charger twice a day for both of those days.
Plus, with the dual SIM feature, I don't have to carry around a work phone. My boss was more than happy to get me a nano SIM for my pho e when he found out both my work phone and personal phone would be one in the same and easier to contact.
So yeah, with the above stated, for me, the battery life is way better than what I have put up with on the note 4 for the past 2 years.
Battery is great for me. I don't have a SIM yet but use Google hangouts/Voice# and am constantly on my phone browsing and using different apps. I charged it 7 hours ago, it has 3 hours of screen on time so far, and battery is at 57%. It says it has 9 hours left (based on my current rate, I will probably hut around 7 hours of screen on time. That is on High Performance, though also without a mobile network connected. I am constantly connected to and using wifi though and location is on too.)
Plus with QC3, my phone charges from dead to full in an hour. It is crazy fast.
Edit: Correction, I am in Power Saving mode as I guess I clicked into it when prompted last time my battery drained and forgot to switch back. Didn't notice a performance difference though so maybe I'll stick with this mode until I play a game. Next time I recharge, I will put it in High Performance and record my Screen on time then.

Question buying a fold 3 in a few days questions

how good is the battery long term I also want to m know how discord app runs and other overal app optimization like if it has full-screen view and such after the phone has been out 9 months also im not exactly pressed for a new phone right now i have an iPhone 8plus that i been using for a few years but i am not sure if I even want to continue with ios so if you also want to try selling me on the swap would appreciate? the only 2 choices I want to pick between are fold 3 or 13 pro max but some people say the s22 ultra is a good choice, is it worth waiting for the fold 4 do we have a date???
Why would you buy the fold 3 when the fold 4 is about to be released
Why also wouldn't they, the'y have got an iPhone 8 plus and not in a rush for a device, with the z fold 4 coming out, the phone is becoming cheaper to buy so I'd guess now would be a good time to buy one.
I've had the s22 ultra, and handed it back so I could get the z fold 3, and it was the right decision, as I think the s22 ultra apart from the camera is no better than my old note 20 ultra and is just the same as all other Samsung phones. The camera apart from the front facing camera on this is a really good, and the rear camera can also be used for selfies too.
Exynos isn't as good as the Snapdragon processor and the z fold once you get used to the weight and size, is truly amazing device like nothing I've ever used before, and trust me, I've used alot of phones

I had the Fold 3 for about seven months - it broke and I got a full refund when they didn't have stock to replace it. I got the S22 Ultra, which is a great phone, but I'm counting the minutes until the Fold 4 comes out. I love the camera on the Ultra, but I otherwise far prefer having a foldable phone with the bigger screen. The comparatively small screen of the S22 Ultra drives me crazy every time I'm trying to read a book on it, read through documents, use the phone for cooking, etc. The S22 Ultra is a reasonable competitor to the iPhone, but the Fold is its own thing, and if you're into it, there's no going back.

F3 can be picked up 2nd hand for £700 - less than half RRP - and F4 is very little changed from F3.
F4 is not a big evolution. The crease is smaller. I think this is most important upgrade....but the difference I think will not be so big.
On the other way, price of F3 is lower and may be the best choice...
On Fold 3 battery is my biggest problem, but I learn to take 10.000 external battery with me all the time. A fast charger in the car..in intense usage battery drops to 20% in 4-5 hours.
Jesus, intense usage and it lasts 4 to 5 hours ? I'm not an intense user and it last me all day pretty much, I only charge it when I'm at work later at night, for a top before I get home about 2am in the morning.
As for the crease I thought I'd have a massive problem with that as well as the hole punch camera area but after a few weeks , I forget it's there, as well as the crease

Same here, I use my Fold 3 for everything and I can easily get a full days use out of it. I play games on it, watching videos, listen to music and do everything I want on it. I still managed to finish the end with around 20-30%
I'm in the same boat as others. I can use mine all day with normal browsing, games and media consumption and if I can't charge during the day, I normally end with about 20% or so. However, that is rare as I am normally near a charger most times (I work remote, so am home for the most part).
yea.. I have to agree that the phone is a TANK. 4 to 5 hours of high usage is someone in bed all day doing NOTHING except watching videos.. I am on the phone ALL day. I stream Howard Stern Show for 4 hours at work with bluetooth earbuds from 7am untill 11ish and then play my (locally downloaded onto my phone) music in my car thru Bluetooth and then take pics and post on several social media sites all day long. I easily have over 50% juice at 4pm or so after leaving the house at 5am... I can blast a little charge in the car if I FEEL THE URGE BUT i'm fine and never get below 40% ever ever! The phone is more than enough for most WORKING people. I cant say for the unemployed that sit around on their phone every waking hour complaining why Call of Duty mobile wont play for 6 straight hours. Its quite adequate
