[ANDROID][APP][3.0+] My Ten-Twenty - Need testers! - Testing

I've developed an offline reverse geocoder called My Ten-Twenty. It takes your coordinates and converts them to a textual representation, such as Chicago, Illinois, and seconds as a screen saver. I'm looking for testers to play around with it and report bugs, reliability, suggestions, etc.
It can be downloaded from the Play Store at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gmail.qkzoo1978.my_ten_twenty_offline

iRail app on Touch HD

Hi all,
My friend has an iPhone with an app called iRail. It looked really cool as i could view train times in realtime (I only saw Liverpool Street Station on London) and thought that was very cool...is their anything like that for the our Touch HD?
(I guess i could bookmark a website that has the large screen train times at Liverpool St..)
Thx...
If you are in the K try these links in opera
http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/times_fares/ldb/?livedepartures.asp
example:
http://www.livedepartureboards.co.uk/ldb/sumdep.aspx?T=LDS&S=KGX
I agree, would be a killer app for commuting. The problem with the website is that this information is of most use when dashing for a train, or near a unfamiliar station.
Just thinking about how to make this happen- needs to be a finger friendly app for ease of use when running up the escalator with bags in the other hand, and needs to bring through all the data including live train status and platform information. Fortunately Network Rail have actually helped us - details on the SOAP API they have into the information can be found here http://www.livedepartureboards.co.uk/ldbws/ . Also getting the app to know your location via cell tower triangulation (as per iPh*ne, not GPS - takes too long) and auto populate with the nearest station would be good.
Sadly I'm not a developer (at least not for the last ten years) but was thinking about dusting of these code writing fingers and having a go.
Would appreciate some guidance from others on what tools/language to use, how to integrate data from the API into an app and how to keep performance good.
Another site of interest, as it tries to integrate all the bus, tube, ferry, road and any other info is transportdirect.info. Only recently discovered this one, but it occurred to me that an app on top of this could in theory give you access to some extremely useful information.

Beta testers wanted for TraQPro !!

Hi all mobile lovers,
i have developed an application to share your location information with your friends and employees. I know that there is Google latitude and others, but hopefully this products is different and focusses also on the bussiness side / implementation of these technologies.
Some features:
- Send TraQ Code to your contacts, so they can follow you 'live' for an hour online.
- Map View shows your friends live on the map including speed information,
when GPS is used. I mean really live and animating and all
- When TraQCode Contact is also destination, the route is calculated and drawn on map, including live destination distance and ETA !!
You can watch a demo video on http://www.vimeo.com/paltraq for how TraQPro works and looks like...
I need some beta testers who want to test the functionality of this product.
so where to ask then @ xda developers . Currently it only works with VGA/WVGA devices!
People who want to download and Beta test, please register at:
http://forum.traqpro.com
* Please post all bugs and feature request at forum.traqpro.com *
and i'll send you a private message with your account information.
Thank you and special thanx to those who want to participate to make it a better product.
Cheers,
MrQ.
Was looking for something like this! Allready started to develope my own! But yours is better
SO: Please send me the Beta Version, I allready registered in your forum!
How fast is the update rate for the GPS position? Can you let people decide for themselve how often it is updated? Because some people want to conserve battery, but on the other hand it is not as precise...
(Less battery consumption <-- vs. --> More precise position)
I think I can even help you to develope... or to translate (to Russian or German...)
Hi Koffein Schluck,
good to hear that you like it Check your private messages in the TraQ forum for your BETA account details.
The update rate is 1,5 seconds in the mapview, to get the live tracking experience of your friends or employees. When you are in the main menu the update rate is 15 seconds on MPS location updates and when GPS is on and fix it's 1,5 seconds
I already have the option for the user to determine the update rates on MPS, to spare you the battery power. Further more there is also a second application which runs on scheduled times to report your position to the servers and sleep again, pulling as almost nothing from your battery live !!
Must do some more testing with it to release it, but stay tuned.
Also de website wil be in Silverlight technology to view your Trips and some other info.
Busy as hell, more to be released soon..
Stay tuned
Btw, check out the TraQCode feature, it's really coOl. Select a contact and send him a code with email or sms or both so he can track you live online.
Next,
If you say the person whom you are sending your traQcode is also your destination, you see the complete route on the mapview including destination distance and ETA information!!
Also check out the resource folder after installation if you want to customize the graphics.
The languages folder contains text files with all languages available. If you translate the english
one to german and to russian we have to more languages available in the app!!
Btw, please post your findings on TraQPro forum..

[App] Rail Planner - A MUST for UK Train Commuters

I will be honest. I pirated this app at first. Sorry. However, after several contact with the support and few replies from them, I came to believe they deserve the £4.99 that they're are asking for the app so I bought the app again. I asked them about the new live tile deep linking shown with the kayak app at MIX and they were as excited about it as I was. They seem to be a great team. The app is fully licensed by National Rail so you WILL get accurate real time data.
Please buy the app and support the developers!
What information would I get that isn't on the National Rail website which i have bookmarked and can quickly pull up for free?
That's a difficult question.
The app is laid out in a panaroma main page with 4 panes.
upcoming
departures
journeys
my departures/nearest station
When first starting the app, the upcoming page is empty.
The departures pane is empty but has a "find station" option. This takes you to a search page, which pivots between "nearest" with stations sorted by distance, "all" listed alphabetically and searchable, recent and favourites.
Once you find your station and touch it, it takes you to another page for the station which pivots between departures and arrivals from that station. You get a full list of trains with platform numbers, if they're on time, delay time etc. If you click on the particular train, you get to see live progress of where the train is in its route.
You can also add the station to your favourites.
When you add it to your favourites, the station will appear as a tile under the departures of the first panaroma view.
The third panaroma pane is Journeys and is also blank at first, with a "plan a journey" option. When you click on it, you get the usual from/to, departing at/arriving by and the date/time option. When you click search you get a list of trains for the journey.
When you go back tot he Journeys pane in the main panaroma, this journey has now been added to the list, so you can do a quick search later.
The fourth pane doesn't have a title but had three options. 1 is settings. and the two others are "my departures" and "nearest station". The nearest station by definition will find the nearest train station and show it in the embedded bing maps.
my departures is where you can add your frequented routes. For example I can add in my usual train to work. When I add a train to my departures, the upcoming pane which I first mentioned, will now contain a tile for that departure, except it's "live" and shows what time the train is for, if it's delayed, how much it's delayed by etc. So I don't have to drill down just to see info on my usual train. The tile also shows first train for the same journey within the 30 min window for your departure. i.e. if you miss the departure you input initially, then it will show you the next departure for the same route. This has been slightly hit and miss and I have talked to the devs who are looking into it.
To summarize, there is no problem with using the site. However I find the app, pleasing and more importantly, I get to the information much faster than with the site. I had not problem paying 4.99 for it considering I spend 4.15 on a pint of lager alone.
When they implement the live tiles we saw in MIX with the kayak app, I believe the app is going to be amazing. I have written to the devs about it and they seem to be very excited about the new things they can do in mango.
