Hello everyone!
I purchased a new note 2 1 month back. But i have noticed that my note 2 doesnt give me THAT GREAT BATTERY LIFE which was advertised.
I usually get about 12 hours of battery backup with just 3 to 4 hours of screen time and 30- 60 minutes of voice calling on 3g network.
I am on rooted stock room (4.3 jelly bean)
Please help me folks!!!
An easy way to get better battery duration is to use the Wakelock Detector application. When you see that an app is called many times (even if you haven't opened it), you can disable it via app manager.

Charge your battery completely and calibrate it again.
by pressing *#0228# and press quick start and the moment you push this your screen will go off and come backup in few Seconds so patiently wait for it to come back and then observer how is the battery backup.
Optional only if Rooted.
If you are rooted use Greenify app.
check with Better Battery Stats to see who is the culprit who is draining.
Use greenify

Me too just purchased a second-hand note2, realized that alhough it comes with 3100mah battery..it uses lotsbof juice for the large screen, obviously!
Here's what I did
Root the phone and install greenify.
From root explorer delete the apps that can be foundbin playstore..such as gmail, maps, youtube etc.
This way you can greenify the apps mentioned...saves a lot of juice (battery)
Hope this helps.
YAS
I have tried every solution mentioned above but still my battery is draining way to fast than before.
How do guys manage to get upto 2 days of battery backup from that monster. Mine doesn't even last for a day
I have flashed phoenix ROM v.17. It didn't help either..
Try to kill camera app after taking a photo. This one was draining my battery so fast.
Have you gone into wifi settings advanced and unticked scanning always available. That is the biggest battery killer for 4.3

Same here
Idk How to stop this draining.
I can't even watch a complete movie w/o getting the battery drained.

I am a Chinese. My English is very poor.I hope I can give you some help. The following is my search on the Internet to China. You can copy the following text use Google Translate to translate it into English, I hope you can read this, thank you

Hi folks,
I have had my rogers S3 for several days now. while i love it very much but one issue frustrates me. I get only about 6-7 hours for one charge on a maybe a little bit more than moderate use.
I read somewhere there was an error in one of the system config files but that article was talking about the international version. do any of you experience the same?
My GS3 battery life is going against all the reviews. help.
I had the same problem, I did a factory reset and it seems to be considerably better now.
not sure why the phone kept going into deep discharge, but it hasn't done it since and it's been a week or so now.. is your phone also warm near the USB connector?
The error in the config file was just in regards to the reporting of usage.. Cell Standby usage was being over-reported.. I am not seeing that as being the case on my Rogers SGS3..
One thing I did do is nuke all the rogers installed apps.. I got sick of the VVM+ whining constantly about not being able to work over WiFi.. I just used Titanium Backup to freeze all of the rogers apps.. (rather than uninstalling them).. battery life is quite good actually.. very surprised.

thank you for the info. how is a factory reset done? does that mean i would lose everything i downloaded already? i will give the Titanium Backup a try to get rid of the rogers apps too to see if it helps. yeah, the phone gets pretty warm after a short while.
Are you on LTE, My battery gets about the same with LTE always on since it does consume a lot of power

Well.. this may not be a fix but it really worked forr me. Battery time was at least trippeled.
I drained my battery until the phone shut down, then I connected the charger WITHOUT turning on the phone (allright I KNOW it sounds stupid). Noticed the time to charge it fully increased from 1.5-2 hours to 4-5 hours.
I had to charge the phone during the day before, now it last for 2 days at least.
The cell standby is still wrong but that is just a indication fault, this was a real problem for me.
it's the rogers apps!!!
FYI - disable the rogers apps (all of them) and your battery life will DRASTICALLY increase. I've tested this with them enabled (battery life sucked), and disabled (battery lasted for like 1.5+ days).
Oh and let rogers know their apps suck like I did. The more people that report it the more chance they might actually fix them. A fun way is to do it to their twitter account @rogershelps
If you decide to keep them disabled, be sure to call Rogers and tell them to remove any of the features those apps use...thus reducing you monthly bill.

Forgive my ignorance, I have a VZW GS3. What are Rogers apps? What app names should I look for to see if they're on my phone? Thanks to VZW I cant unlock and root my phone this may not matter.
why don't you return it for a new one?

Rogers is one of the provider here in Canada...similar to AT&T. They each have their own bloatware that they install in their phones.

With root you can either delete them or use titanium backup to freeze them (stop them from running or updating).
I did this (freeze the Rogers apps and most of the samsung ones) and get all day battery life (6am to midnight) with between 4 & 5 hours of screen time.

I've found that battery life is related to cell coverage. If I have 3-5 bars and I'm not using the phone I could lose about a percent of battery per hour and my phone will run at a 40-45 when I do use it. If I only have 1 or 2 bats and it keeps switching between 3g and 4G I could easily lose 6-10 percent an hour and my phone will run at 50 or so degrees celcius. A restart seems to help the phone get a better lock. All this temps were cpu temps.
I just did a wipe/reset and found that this worked for me. I couldn't squeeze out a day with it and now go to bed with 30-40 percent left.
Battery life
My battery life on a debloated stock build was average. I was getting about 16-18hrs on moderate use. I've recently tried CPU Editor battery saver profile and so far its going great. I'll post back on the results after I go through a few charging/discharging cycles.
The forum page for the CPU Editor is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1798765
[MOD/SCRIPT]CPU Editor SGS3 Edition - Secret to Die Hard Battery
I'm with rogers and my battery is pretty awful too. Not quite as bad as yours, but still not as good as I'd hope with LTE off.
What kind of usage do you have though ? For example I work with a guy who has the same model and was complaining about battery. I checked his stats and was at 35 percent battery with 4 hours display time. If you're getting 5 to 6 hours screen on time that's enough to kill battery. If its in standby for 6 to 7 hours and battery is dying then something is wrong

I've had very similar issues. Tried several ROMs and had charging problems and finally ended up on cm10 and it took about 3.5 hours to charge from 30% to 85%. Then dropped to 80% after only thirty minutes off the charger. Not sure exactly what to do to fix the issue.

I'm a new android user. I'm using the LiquidSmooth 4.2.1 JellyBean Beta 2. The problem I'm having is with my battery life. I seem to average about 5-7 hours of battery life which is crazy if you ask me. This isn't a ROM issue either because it was the same way on the stock 4.1.1 Android OS.
I'm using JuiceDefender now and that seems to help a little. I know things like disabling 3G and WiFi can help but I use these things often. Can anyone offer any useful suggestions to extend my battery life?
Thanks in advance

The quickest way to answer this is to suggest you use search. There are already dozens of posts/threads about this. A lot depends on signal and applications running. Do some reading, more than likely you will find the answer already posted.

Absolutely something wrong with your phone and or battery. Had an S3 since July '12, rooted and ran FreeGS3 and had all day battery. Lost that just before Xmas (actually stolen) and got another S3, and this time decided not to do all that ROMming and flashing and stayed stock 4.1.
Same all day battery life with WiFi on, 3G on, Google/Gmail Sync on (i like my push Gmail), several email accounts polling, etc. I just use my phone, no gimping with apps like JuiceDefender (which i detest with a passion).
Heres a question, what's your screen on time? Cuz if your phones dead at 7 hrs with 5 hrs screen on your first option is to adjust screen settings and the second and 3rd option are put the phone down sometimes and/or keep a charger handy

Depending on how often I use my phone I get anywhere between 9-11 hours on light to moderate use. Meaning listening to music, Twitter, Instagram, email, and texting
It could be the 4.2, because it isn't completely "stable" yet. I'm on stock 4.1 rooted, with screen brightness on I'd say 30-40%, with light to moderate use and can get 11-15 hours easily. This includes texting, maybe a few phone calls, lots of music, and some Facebook or XDA on a WiFi connection.

Well after checking out the Kernelizers thread and flashing the KT kernel onto my Galaxy S3 and installing ROM Toolbox, my battery life has greatly improved. I also installed DS Battery Saver Pro. I just came to work. Left at 7:05AM, put on some music, and by the time I got to work at 8:05AM, my phone battery only dropped 3%. Normally it would drop at least 10% in this time so what I did is clearly working

I would uninstall DS Battery Saver Pro. If you did check out that thread, the phone already deep sleeps. Mine does with no additional app assistance. Went 38+ hours and still had 25% battery life left.
I have been stressing myself out about this for over a week, trying different things, buying new batteries trying new chargers, changing roms.
Turning so many things off basically making my phone into a dumbphone to try to figure out why my battery life is so bad. Could it be I just have a bad phone and need a new one??
I had a Galaxy S3 gave it to my GF, never turned any sync services off and I am able to get 20+ hours with that phone, this phone is HORRIBLE.
I was stock getting about 5 hours before dead battery (phone would get real warm- battery stats showing 33C+).
So I rooted and took it back to an LJC rom (4.1.1). Tried different modems, kernals, files tweaks with root explorer.
I bought BBS, a battery calibrator from the market and still cant see any problems that would do this?
last picture......
Should I just take it into Sprint and get a replacement???

Also try uninstalling and reinstalling facebook. My girlfriend's phone (GS3, not a note) went from 8 hours to probably 14 hours just by using the mobile web version of facebook instead of the the app. Facebook is atrocious at making apps.
But it really does sound like you got a lemon here, I'd get a replacement from Sprint. I don't think I could kill my battery in under 10 hours unless I was playing a game non-stop. My phone is completely stock.
I will uninstall Facebook, and test it out. Thanks!

OP. Your problem is not your ROM or anything else. Jeeze people.
Those partial wakelocks are PURELY from Google Now and the wifi/network based location. Either turn off Google Now, or turn off network-based-locating and those partial wakelocks will disappear....I'd also wager you have Sprint Connection Optimizer still running causing your phone to hangup trying to find a network conenction.
My battery took a good hite when I updated to 4.1.2 used to get 20+ hrs with 7+ screen time now I get about 14-15 with 4-5 hrs screen time

Based on your first pictures, your status bar, and the amount of awake time your phone is showing I'm guessing a couple of things. Do you have a phone signal where you spend most of your day? If my awake bar was solid like yours I wouldn't have a battery after 7 hours either. I would backup everything and do a full wipe / clean install and run the phone a day or so.

What of the borderline useless bells and whistles do you have enabled? I.e. face recognition/unlock, auto-brightness, SPen battery saver etc? Things like battery savers unsurprisingly don't help so i'd nix it as it is only wasting battery.

Meh. On this device I always aim for getting 10%/ battery usage per hour of screen-on-time on TouchWiz ROMs, and a fraction of a percent per hour in screen-off....something is burning battery here, and it is probably a system setting.

The thing is, I have a Galaxy S3... The Note II is setup no different then that, settings or otherwise. I am trying all of these suggestions, but why did I not have to turn any of these off on my S3?? Same service area obviously. I took the Galaxy S3 off the charger last night at 100%. Put a new battery in the Note II so it was at 100%. Let them both sit on the counter for 1 hour. S3 had 98%, Note II was at 87%... No calls no texting, no screen time. It is so fustrating! I have had my fair share of battery tweaking with previous phones (HTC EVO, HTC hero). It seems something isn't right. I had problems with stock rom, that is why I rooted so quick, to try a different ROM.
If the wipe does not work I will try to get Sprint to get me a replacement, was hoping the get this figured out before I fly to Florida for a week. Good thing I have extra batteries.

Have you adjusted anything with your brightness? You may have accidentally turned off auto adjustment if you were using it previously. If that's not it I'd suggest a hard reset. If that cures it you can most likely chalk it up to a recently downloaded app.

i've had to move google play services as a user app with titanium and then greenify it. all my devices started getting big time standby drain last month from google play services.
i do have the donation version of greenify, but i didn't feel like installing xposed to use it.

yes rooting will void your warranty but there are methods you can do to unroot it and have it go back to stock rom. I, as well as most of the people in this community get better battery if you root your rom and install a custom kernel, you will get better battery life.
one app that I found that I use daily is 2x battery pro. it's not free though.. there is a setting on the app that lets you turn off any background data while the phone is idle; you will still get calls and texts though. this will give you longer battery life. when you turn your phone on data will come back on. I get around one day and a few hours from the charge. check it out man. might help you..

Hi,
i'm not really a gamer. I play only at the homeway after the work with the bus. And sometimes when it gets boring at home. But that only a maximum of 1 hour at a time, ok maybe sometimes 2 hours.
I'm also very often online (Facebook, Forum, Weather, News ...). But still, I get my phone until the second day without refilling. On the third day there is a maximum until noon. Therefore, I leave it on the second night to recharge. But I have to mention that the battery is old. It is the first battery that was inside in the phone. A new make it easy for me, quite simply until the fourth day.
The original 4.3 I never had it. Only Ketan's Rome. Now I'm on the original 4.1.2. And wait for 4.4

I'm on stock 4.3 ROM. Battery life is horrible after updating from 4.1.2. Drains even when the phone is turned off.
