I've the Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 and received the Samsung 16GB MicroSDHC I ordered from Amazon today, do I format the card on PC or tablet?
you shouldnt really need to format it but do it with the tablet. I hope it was a class 10 sdcard or it might stagger in performance.
What format should the MicroSD card be?

I just got my S3 (United States) and and tried 3 (YES 3) Lexar 32 GB Class 10 cards and every one of them have failed. I called Lexar, they say to have my firmware upgraded. Went to Sprint and verified everything is fine with the phone. The cards won't work in other phones at Sprint Either. Before buying another card I'd like to know from you guys which one out there will work with no problems, speed, and size is important for me. I know I'll be using more memory than the 32gb in the future. I called Sandisk and they recommended their SDSDQUA-032G Ultra 32 Class 10 and said it would work. Sprint says they know the Class 6 works in the S3.
I'd like more than 32gb. and fast write & Read speeds.
Can I get some great recommendations from you before I buy another piece of crap. Two weeks now and I still don't have a working card. Lucky I have Amazon prime membership.

I use a 32gb Sandisk Class 10 SDHC Card, this thing works. Problem with anything bigger then 32gb is that you have to use sdxc and this is only really compatible in fat32 or exfat, for both you have to format the card before inserting into the phone.
Try the SanDisk 32gb Mobile Ultra UHS-1 because it's cheaper than normal class 10 Mobile Ultra and just as fast, and I've been using it a while with no problems.
I am quite happy with my Sandisk Ultra 64GB SDXC. No issues at all.
What do I need to format

I would like the larger size. What would I need to format the bigger size. I wouldn't have a problem with that if I had some detailed instructions.
Thanks.
Sandisc Ultra 64gb micro sd xc1
Sandisc Ultra 64gb micro sd xc1 was my choice and its worked well over the last 4 years. Its the phone that has bricked after Little use in October 27/2016. Changed the battery it needed it. Now its bricked.
I have a SanDisk but I was told that SanDisk aren't good for Samsung S3's
Hello,
I'd recommend the Toshiba Exceria memory card, either with 16, 32 or 64GB. This card is a class 10 card with UHS 3. Although the S3 can't use the full speed of the micro SD, this is a well working combination.
Has anyone tried 128gb sdcard ?
I plan to buy,
Transcend Premium 400X 128GB CLASS10 SDHC/SDXC UHS-1, and just wondering if it work

I'm using a 128gb card from lexar on it and works fine..
(mine's the i747m just to clear it up...)
I have the SanDisk 64GB ultra sdxc or whatever it's called. It works very well with no issues and I have 1,000+ pictures stored on it with about 30 videos.
Quick question. Would a SD card and adoptable storage on a ROM be a good solution for the Samsung device?
Yes, a SD card is always good, especially for backups
Well, I bought the sd-card and for the first couple of days it worked flawessly - then it started to automatically unmount-mount-unmount-mount..
After a bit of duckduckgoing I found out that this particular SD card can cause troubles if produced before 2010 (mine is) but what I need to understand is the following:
- does formatting it x-times help?
- does it help to format it directly on the phone? I did so but then my Mac did not recognize the card..
- the mini is said to support 64gb sd cards --> why do so many people have issues?
- it says "made for Android" --> how can it not work on a Samsung?
- are there other 64gb cards that you ppl know of that don't cause any problems?
Thanks!
I had a 32GB "made for Android" Sandisk card and had the same problem, albeit in a different Android device. Sandisk say it's a manufacturing issue according to info in this thread.
My solution was to buy a Samsung card
But I did try all the things you mention - formatting in the phone / on PC, different filesystems (fat32, exfat, ext4) etc. The actual issue was intermittent I/O errors when reading and writing data which cause Android to unmount the card.
If I were you I'd RMA the card. I haven't done extensive testing of the 64GB Samsung card in the S4 Mini (I9195) but it seems to work OK. What I do know is that I won't trust Sandisk again...

*sigh*.. well, on the bright side now I have a 64gb SD card for my camera and at least my old 32gb Sandisk one still works with Mini.
I have same problem with 64GB SanDisk Ultra® microSDXC™ UHS-I card for mobile devices ... Are there any solution of this problem???
Stupid that sandisk still can't get 64gb cards to work properly in 2013 while advertising it's for Android.
This is ofc all based on yall input as I do not own a 64gb sandisk cards but a 8gb one. I'm now aware not to buy a sandisk 64gb card in the near future.
Sent from my GT-I9195 (CM10.1-Nightlies) using xda premium app-developers app
Ye I finally got an Android phone that can actually use the bloody card (had it since December '12) and it does the same thing.
Apparently there was a manufacturing problem around that time (affected 32/64GB MicroSDXC Class 10's), so SanDisk is apparently replacing these cards. Just contact them on support.
Hey All,
There are lots of mixed reviews about the support for Galaxy Tab 3 7.0. in terms for micro sd cards compatibility... Is anyone running a 64gb sd with no problems?
I am running a 16gb with no issues at all, however I have cheap 64gb which will not copy the correct data & corrupts most of the time...I believe this is due to being a rubbish quality/copy...
If there is anyone out there that is running a 64gb with no issues, please confirm the spec!
Thanks in anticipation.
The cheap 64GB card is likely counterfeit. It is probably a 16 GB card hacked to appear to be a 64 GB card. This happened to me. Bought a counterfeit Sandisk from an Amazon seller. It looked really, really, real...but I kept having issues and once the subject of counterfeits was brought to my attention, I noticed the packaging said Made in China while the card said Made in Taiwan - Sandisk doesn't make any SD cards in Taiwan. Before I realized that, I bought a cheap class 10 Samsung off of eBay, that was fake too. Buy from a reputable retailer. Google a Windows app called H2testw if you want to confirm whether your SD card is a 64 GB card.
I have a T211 and am using a 64GB card I bought at Fry's. After formatting it inside the tablet, it worked fine, although after I initially transferred ~37GB from my PC directly to the card, I put it in the tab, and from then on my PC recognizes the card as read only. But I can write data to the SD Card as long as it is inside the tab.
are 128gb cards supported?
So I just got a Kingston Class 10 64GB SDXC Card
I generally use Wifi File Transfer Pro to xfer stuff to extSd but in this tablet, its just dies down after a certain %
I thought it might be the SD card, then I inserted my Patriot Class 4 32GB card and same thing
I tried Air Droid and WTF, for both it shows ExtSD card is 11.76GB only!
Is there something wrong? or thats how kitkat is?

I haven't run into this with my nexus devices and OTG readers, but try this thread for those who have the problem using external cards. I have a TabPro 12.2 on pre-order as well as a 64GB micro card so I will definitely try the fixes if needed.

As for the max read/write speeds of the tablet, I don't know. But per Samsung, it is fully capable of the PRO sdcard. I have the Samsung 64GB PRO microsd card in my note 10.1 2014 edition and often save HD video to the card and watch them directly from the card and it works great. You should definately go with the pro if you want a fast card, like I said, it works great in my 2014 edition. :good:
So why not go the 128gb or Sandisk 200gb sd card?
The 200gb card works fine and I have hd video on it that works great...

So the Note also works with those 200gb cards then?
I currently have a 64gb card on my Note, but the higher capacity ones also work I might as well buy that, means I can share the same content instantly on both my tabs and laptops

Yep, they're sdxc format same as the 64gb and 128gb sd cards. Theoretically, it has been mentioned, sdxc should be able to go as high as 2Tb but 200gb is the biggest micro sd card out there at the moment.
