(Q) Qi charger adapted to car Monti - Nexus 5 Accessories

Hi guys! So I bought a qi charger from amazon to use out in my car but when it arrived I noticed it was way bigger than I thought it was so today I opened it to see if there is a way to adapt it and for my surprise it isn't as much of a trouble but my question is can I just stick it to the car mount and not put any thing covering the charger and place my phone on it or does it need some kind of protection? I attached some photos of the open charger and the thing itself, thanks for your help!

[Q] LTE Nexus and a Powermat?

Anyone use a Powermat to charge their phone? it looks like the usb attachment doesn't make it register like it's charging?
I have the same problem with USB charging. Neither my PC nor my Macbook Pro will charge the phone. It says charging, but the battery continues to drain. I noticed on my mac the USB port is only providing 500mA. The plug-in charger that came with the phone says 1.0 amp (1000ma).
I have a powermat too, but you need a special back cover on the phone to get it to charge this way, even that's even going to be an option on this phone.
having an issue with some of my car chargers too, some work some don't.

I initially had problems when using the power cube as well. This was a little surprising since its output was 1A which was the same as chargers which worked well. I decided to try using a different mini to micro usb adapter than the one which comes with the power cube. Once I switched adapters, the powermat worked perfectly.
Any particular model?

You would ask that. I found the packaging and it's an Adapti. It's just a cheap adapter that I bought from the local Fred Meyer (a department store chain in the Pacific Northwest) about a year and a half ago. It also came a mini-usb to iPhone adapter.
Hopefully this helps. You should be able to find an adapter that works.

Charging dock for Note 10.1

I was looking for a charging stand so I can watch my Slingbox while my Note charges and found the Myrin Sync & Charge Dock on Ebay. It folds for portability and can be used either to charge or just support the Note. Because it has no sides, it can work with any Sammy Tab that has the 30 pin connector (nice as I have 3 around the house) and I don't have to remove the case to charge.
Nice find.
Good Stand
Very nice, looking for similiar stand kits with charging port :victory:
Hi couple of question does it has its own charging adapter or we use the stock samsung one
Also the case you have looks cool how much did you get that for
The eBay item says USB cable included, but I doubt you get the charger.
I think this original accessory should also do the trick:

Thanks, but that one has been discussed at length in other threads here. The OP's contribution is a link to a dock that has not previously been seen or discussed. :good:
It comes with a USB cable but not the charging block. You could use your original cable as well it just slots into the base as shown in the photo.
The case is from deal extreme for $15. It's Pleather and has the 3 viewing angles.
Instead of the charging cable would you be able to get a HDMI adapter in there

The HDMI adapter is, for some reason best known to Samsung, far thicker than the charging cable, so I'd sadly guess not.

How to get QI wireless charging on your SII without any permanent mods

I just got an S3, and was excited about the ability to use wireless charging. While looking for QI gear on eBay, I ironically stumbled across an item that will add that very same feature on my old SII, without any permanent hardware mod needed.
The item in question is this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/200963522572?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
It's basically a QI charging inlay thing that has a very tiny microUSB connector, allowing you to connect it to essentially anything that charges via microUSB. I bought one just to try it out, and sure enough, it works like a charm with my old S II. I have a cheap (but great) TPU case on my S II, and the QI inlay fit absolutely perfectly between the case and the phone's actual back cover.
I used the SII for more than a year and a half, and I frankly hope that this was just invented a few weeks ago, as I hate to think that wireless charging for my S II was $16 away all that time >.<
Hey, *thanks* so much for this, it is just about exactly what i was looking for (and not able to track down on the net). Much appreciated and can't wait to try it out on my SGS2!

great stuff, but what will i do if i need to charge it by cable?
With "Android Tuner Free" you can see the incoming mAh when charging (at battery stats).
With standard wallcharger from samsung I get ~640mAh
Does anybody got the incoming mAh stats about wireless charging?
Anyway, I think cable is better because you can move and use your phone.

Official Google Wireless Charger

I just got mine in the mail. It's incredibly fast to charge, but very frustrating to find the right spot to charge on the N7. Anyone else?
I got one yesterday and was disappointed to find out it doesnt work with the poetic slimline. and yes it is harder to find the right spot compared to the nokia dt 900

I thought that it used magnets to locate the "spot".
Yes same issues here too!

I'm using the Nokia charger because I have a few of them around the house and I find it works great even with the poetic slim cover on.
Way easier to find sweet spot on my hammerhead... But still works pretty well.

It doesn't work with Poetic Slimline? Cancelling my order right way...Thanks.
Mine makes a relatively loud noise when it isn't charging anything. The noise seems to be coming from the plug part.

What's the output on these chargers? I am considering one for my N7 for a car install since otg+charging seems to be a ways off. I like the idea of the magnets which would make installation into a dashboard cubby in a Mazda 6 a piece of cake, just as long a it can provide sufficient amps to charge while the screen is on. Any feedback on this function would be appreciated!

The magnets are pretty strong on the N5, but not on the N7. I have doubts about it being able to work in a moving car. I've noticed it has to lay against the charger perfectly flat (full contact) or it won't charge. If you're going to try for a car install, then you may have better luck with a carriage and a third party Qi charger.
So far the only impressive thing (besides the charging speed) is the micro-suction pad it uses on the bottom. That sucker grips!

The dashboard in my Speed6 has a cubby/glovebox where the SatNav would be as an added option. It's a perfect place for tablet integration and I've seen others succeed. Securing the N7 should be pretty easy and I think with a piece of plexiglass/hobby board for the wireless charger to stick to it could be a very convienent addition particularly with keeping the N7 portable as opposed to plugging in the charger everytime I plan on using the tablet especially if I want to use an OTG cable with a thumb drive/microSD.

It's worth a shot. The N7's size makes it awkward to balance (IMO) since the charger itself is small.
Sweet spot.
Has anyone found the sweet spot to get N7 (2013) to charge on the Google wireless charger yet?
are the magnets in the charger enough to hold the nexus 7 in place? or is it easily knocked off?
Without a case the magnets may be strong enough to hold it in place. I've found mine is very fussy about the charger it is paired with. The supplied charger works fine but a few others I have tried refuse to work with it.

very luxury item, i like this
Just got this wireless charger....it works well without a case, but doesn't work with my DeviceWear case. Disappointing, but I guess not surprising.
I find when using this charger I lay it down and slide it around until the magnets feel the strongest, almost like it locks in.. Works every time.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
That method works well without a case fitted, unfortunately with a case fitted the magnets are too weak to lock on in the sweet spot.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
I have the official google wireless charger and have no problems finding the sweet spot anymore! When I first got it I had issues but now that I'm more accustomed to it its pretty easy! I just set the exact center of the tablet on the charger and if I miss by an inch or so the magnets drag it into the correct position! Quite nice indeed! I don't use a case though so I'm sure that's a decent factor if you use one. It chargers quite fast as well!

Bought this when it was on sale for like $14.99 by the same primo-superstore guys. Great qi charger. It does BEEP when you first put the phone on but doesn't keep BEEPING once the phone is fully charged like some others.
Very low noise beep tho', so not really a big deal. There's also a tiny LED light on the front of the charger for indication. It did not come with an AC adapter so you'll have to supply one. But it did came with a long and a short micro USB cable. I suppose one is for connecting to a wall charger and the other one for your computer. It does charge just phone if you hook it up to the computer USB port, although much slower.
Best $15 buck I spent all year.
Bought the same or similar one from FastTech and am waiting for it to come in. I'm looking forward to trying it out.

Does it keep the Nexus 5 at 100% when you charge it overnight or does it completely stop charging once it reaches 100%. Does the phone/battery get hot when using this charger?
Ya it works with my digitronic case no problem and the beep actually really helps letting you know its charging. Ya I know there is no brand and sorry for the bad link but I have both the official nexus charger and this one seems way better I can just set it down hear the beep and its good to go where the nexus charger I always have to double check the placement when I put it down.

What happens when the phone reaches 100% and you leave it on the charger (As would happen when you're charging it overnight). Does the charge remain at 100%?

Yes it remains at 100% and does not beep all night like other ones it has been working great so far. I read a lot of people having trouble with these types of chargers they would charge then it gos to 99% then back to full and beeps on a cycle all night long but I have not experienced that with this charger. I don't know if this one on amazon is different then other ones sold on eBay they all look the same but so far the one from amazon is good. I'm almost thinking about returning the nexus charger to Google because I don't use it anymore.

I bought one too and I like it a lot. I can charge my nexus 5 (via Qi), Nexus 7 FHD (USB, 2.1A) and Dell Venue 8 pro (usb, 1A) simultaneously while charging the internal battery.
Just ordered one. It says 17-28 days, which is a while, but I'm not in a hurry
Does it have the magnets though that the nexus charger has? That's really why I wanted to buy the nexus one.
I got this last week. I used velcro to stick it to my car mount. I had to remove the rubber rings from the top and bottom to make this work.
It does not have magnets. The magnets in the official charger set it apart from most other Qi chargers.
It works well with my Dizitronic TPU case
FYI - Here's the Fasttech model. I can confirm that this works with both the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. Fast charging, and no beeping all night. For those people having trouble with beeping, try being more precise with placement... I find on the Nexus 4, that if I put the charger dead center on the body of the phone, it will beep continuously. If I offset the charger about 1/2" towards the micro-USB port on the phone, the beeping stops and it charges perfectly. The Nexus 5 seems less picky about placement, the sweet spot seems to be quite large in comparison.
Anyway, here it is: http://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10006012/1462103-t200-qi-wireless-charging-plate
I bought two, and really need to buy about five more. They're awesome.
Oh, and to answer someone else's question, no magnets for the N5... but flat on a desk and with the large sweet spot, it doesn't seem to matter.
I have this one too. It's worked well for me as a magnetic car dock (had to add the magnets). I hated the Beep sound whenever it became misaligned so I popped it open and found the speaker.
It's the tall black thing in the middle-left of the attached image. If you pop off the top plastic lid of that little black thing you can remove the little metal circle that sits inside it and it stops the beeping. If that's an issue for anyone else...
Hi. I bought the same and works well. I think the bip sound is a good thing because sometimes the position from the phone is incorrect. In this case no bip

Expecting it to be functionally the same as my "puck" charger, so will need a larger PSU (I use 1.2A) to solve the problem of not keeping the phone topped up after its fully charged

There's already several tutorials on how to do it. But I bought these from Amazon and they work great. Needs non-slip grip though so I used one of those silicon Smartgrip dash mats I bought at the container store on top of the magnets. Works great. Here's the tutorial I used though. And a picture of my charger now.
