Have you referenced the size of stock Rom comparative to rom you are used to backing up on the other device? May e stock is just larger now. That said, seems a lil long tho

I have always had HTC devices, my previous device was an M7 and this backup seems to be on average with what Im used to backup, about 4GB. thats why it seems strange to be taking soo long.
BTW, its still backing up ( or pretending to be)

yes, latest version of TWRP, but I think I found the problem. I selected to compress the backup, I cancelled the previous backup and ran it again without compression and ran in like 3 minutes.
Thanks for the help!

The hero seems to ignore changed CPU speed or simply resetting it to default value immediately. At least it does on my Modaco and also on my coworkers HTC Magic running Hero-based ROMs.
Does anyone know why? Is it in the custom ROM, the kernel or some HTC modification to the android build?
I would like to see if you could save some batterylife by lowering CPU Max while screen is off and see how low you can go and still use Spotify and other apps without issues.
1. how do you set cpu frequency?
2. with the program set-cpu (or something like that) it is at the moment not possible..
I'm aware that it is not possible hence my question if anyone knows why so we can try to find a solution. Same goes for brightness which also resets immediately. Is this kernel, modified android or what?

you might want to download setspu! work like a charm!

not the kernel its in the build.prop for screen settings, also the user.conf plays a big roll!

I've tried both Overclocker Widget and SetCPU and both give same results. They seem to be able to change the settings but they are immediately reset to default values.
Using SetCPU if i change max to something like 480 and set it it looks like it works but hitting refresh it shows that CPU is running at 528 and that max setting is still 528. Issue was the same with Modaco V2.1 and DDR V2.0 and also on a coworkers HTC Magic running some Hero-based ROM (possibly based on Modaco he was not sure)
Also if you try to change the screen brightness using any tool makes the screen change brightness for a moment and then autosets to whatever value the Hero seems to think is appropriate (light sensor?)
Could you try using SetCPU to lower the CPU max and hit refresh to verify it has not been reset to 528?
user.conf location
Where to I have to put the user.conf in the filesystem on a rooted Hero with stock ROM ?

528 Max and 480 Min is default on the Hero. The question is if you can set it LOWER to save battery like if you have apps running that won't let it go to sleep.
hi drizzy could you tell me how to make a user.conf file to make hero run at full 528 speed all the time and how to place it onto my hero.
thankyou

Check out the rooting guides, you should be able to type it pretty much as it says (starting with "echo") on one line and that should do it once you're at the root shell (#)

would you be so kind to share it with us? i have no idea how it should look like, and there is not really information about it on the devs homepage... i would appreciate it.
If you recompile a kernel with "performance" governor as default, you'll run at full all the time.
herolovers..
i present you THC bandit htc salsa rom for our old but very nice HTC Hero
this rom is a port from the sabastian rom for the HTC Magic with some edited build.prop stuff
(so thank him for the port)
and a big thanks to JIEEHD for the time for me to help me with porting and stuff
im a beginner in developing and this is my first rom i've ever ported.
in this rom almost everyting works
BT
WiFi
led notification (no jogball)
most games
camera (on 3.2 MP)
camcorder (also 3.2 MP)
youtube (normal and high quality)
not working
some live wallpapers
jogball
auto rotate (with youtube just double tab the screen)
.. dunno what more need to test with people
1 download
http://www.multiupload.com/V4HFBV6V1Y thx to Rdejager
http://www.multiupload.com/GSSAPNS2ND (its the LV kernel the rom doesnt work well with fly kernel)
2 do a full wipe (factory reset delete cache dalvik boot etc
3 flash the THC Bandit rom
4 flash the kernel
5 reboot
6 make yourself some coffee (boot takes a while dont worry)
7 wait for the setup
8 enjoy
(known issue: sometimes when you flash this rom you cant get root for overclock etc
flash this over the rom without any wipe's
http://www.multiupload.com/Y18FIA7Q8U )
this rom works best with smartass 176 - 729.6
if someone bumbs in to a problem let me know so i can try to fix it
(i also need someone to help me with developing.. to explain me some stuff etc)

Thx to
sabastian (port)
Jieehd (guide me to the port)
and thx to you who is reading and flashing this rom

Even with LV kernel? LV kernel makes taking photos impossible. Camcorder works, but not camera.
I didn't flash the rom, just saying that you should add that to the main post. It's not a problem with your rom, but with the kernel itself.

Probably the LV version used is the official one, which max supported mega-pixel format is 3mp for higher than 2.1 sense roms.
This one is quite stable. When going to larger photo mp's, 5, it might cause hangs.
The newer unofficial one supports 5mp even for newer sense roms.
Heya... I do have the unofficial version. Made sure I commented on the bugs I experienced on your thread.
Truthfully is that atm I managed to take a 5MP picture. It still doesn't work at all times.
I checked and the resolution is set on 3.2 max in the camera so that's working fine
It seems that I also have some call issues sometimes xd. I think I need someone who's more experienced then me who can help me out with kernel support...
Anyone?

Just go to the SalsaSense thread
What languages are included in this rom? Is there Portuguese(Portugal)?
How is this different from SalsaSense?
No sorry only English dutch German and France
And this Rom doesn't look different then salsa sense. the only thing rate different is the build.prop. I concidder my Rom a bit faster but a bit more unstable.. somethings need to be fixed when I know how
Hello! Good rom but bluetooth audio not work me.Plase try fix. Thanks men. )
is that rom support arabic or no ? , couz i wanna to try it (i don't need full arbic i need just read my messages in arabic and my mails )
I see people report that new rom is fast in graphics and slow in cpu response but for some reason i'am getting oppposing results
I am using this rom now... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1361368
Reading through 3-4 messages is slugish and its not smooth and angry birds thend to lag. When i was using older jakintaru rom(salsa port) my phone was flying and games where smooth.Anyone have any idea what can i do to make it better?(any tweaks, tried clearing caches)Tnank you in advance
When I referred to faster graphics and slower CPU scores I was referring to the stock RUU of that release.
Rather than Jikantaru's release I installed the stock and let it upgrade my radio, hboot etc.
I have no Supercharger V6 or kernal scripts on it.
I used Link2SD rather than App to SD and any widget app or app that needs good priority on boot, like Set CPU, Battery Monitor Pro, Superuser, etc, I leave on Internal and don't make links to the second EXT2 partition.
Boots nice and fast then and becomes responsive sooner.
I also use Rom Toolbox Pro and define the various startup apps, freeze out system apps that I don't need and leave widgets unloaded that I don't need.
I also make use of the default memory tweak from RTP and the SD card read speed tweak.
I use Green Power for battery and wifi management as well. Works well.
All in all it has allowed me to install 400 MB of apps and I still have 50 MB of internal memory free, plenty of system memory free at all times for things like in memory processing of camera filters, etc, and a responsive, fast booting system.

OK, sorry about my manner but there are lots of people just thinking that the other members are supposed to sort the info for them and I was a little bit nervous after I read some other threads.
We all have to help each other not only with knowledge but with time spending too, I hope the people will become more principle and will request things just after they tried (no matter if they are sure) to find the info themselves.
Regards

Agreed. It's what I've been running on and I've tried every rom on here over the last month.
Off to play with the Salsa Euro 101 with the OC kernel mod and remove Data2SD in exchange for Link2SD.
I would love the Stock RUU 2.3.5 with an overclockable kernel. Nothing else fancy except the ability to have min 19mhz max 806 mhz.
Yeah,i will now install stock and wait for the overclocked kernel and i hope we can then stop flashing our phones every few daysFor now i think we can use that stock 2.3.5 with supercharger scripts couse they do verry nice(lag fix) in my pnone
After installing official rom and some testing i can also confirm that this rom is fastest i have ever triedIt works verry nice, smoth and graphics is great, cheers
AOKP 4.2 for the LG LU6200
What is it?
AOKP is a very popular and very customizable ROM for Android devices.
Status
LU6200 is not officially supported. It cannot be supported until a maintainer is found that has the device. I am providing some unofficial builds until that happens.
Latest version: 0417

Install instructions
* Install a compatible recovery. See other threads in this section for how to obtain and install it.
* Download the ROM, verify the md5sum, and put it on the root of your sdcard.
* Download JB 4.2 (not 4.1) gapps from goo.im, verify the md5sum, and put it on the root of your sdcard.
* Power off your phone.
* Hold volume-down and power until you see the scary warning screen.
* Confirm by tapping the power button twice.
* Make a backup of your current system (use the tar method!)
* Do a full wipe / factory reset.
* Install the ROM.
* Install gapps.
* Reboot.

I use interactive or ondemand governor with 192~1512. I also use setcpu for screen off profile using powersave governor. We don't have 3g in our country so thats another reason for longer battery life. Moreover, I use crossbreeder for better performance.

I am using this ROM since the past 3 days, with several charge cycles and restarts (not random). I upgraded from CM 10.1 preview (Try 9), and most things work fine, except that battery life has almost halved. I used to get 22-24 hours with low use and now it has come down to 10-12 hours. It drains from 100% when I go to sleep to about 50% when I wake up (should be in sleep//standby mode and not drain more than 10-15%).
Another thing, the performance mode in the settings is gone so I can't set the CPU governor.
Anybody else experiencing the above? BTW this was a clean install. You think I should flash again?

Hi
Having tired a few custom ROMS I've gone back to the stock (boring of me I know) but my main reason for rooting was to increase internal memory and (with the help of int2ext) I know have a wopping 1.5 GB internal memory. So I'm happy - ish
I noticed when i had the CM10 ROM installed that I could set a max CPU of 768 MHZ but now I've gone back to stock that has dropped to 600 HHZ
Is there another Kernel I can install under the stock ROM that will give me the higher CPU max, and if s o- which one?
Cheers

So my question remains - any know the best STABLE kernel that will give me 787 MHZ or above please?
Dont worry - used this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1618595&page=1
And seems fine
