I know that everyone likes to look at pretty little pie charts and percentage based tables, but this new call history 4.4.2 is driving me nuts.
Why can't we just have - ALL - MISSED - INCOMING - OUTGOING?
And have them sorted chronologically????
I had to track an outgoing call, by the day it was made, and it was a nightmare.
You have to go into statistics and choose outgoing, then go to the drop down and choose a date range, then all you get is groupings, based on each number, with no dates.
WTF.
I have downloaded another dialer app, just to use, to sort through my calls.
Can someone do a mod to the stock dialer or something? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
on cm11 nightly
Hmm, if it's a call made as recent as that day, why not just find it in the "ALL" category, where calls are sorted chronologically and you can identify call types by the arrows?

yes, you can identify the calls by the arrows, it is just a bit of a pain. My question is more along the lines of why do we need a "statistics" tab, vs. the obvious incoming and outgoing tabs? How is "statistics" making things better?
The wheel is already round
.
Callistics - call statistics
Try new applicaiton Callistics - Call sttistics, it is application with all that features you need.
Thanks for the suggestion.
I was hoping to be able to dial and sort from the same dialer. There are lots of applications that will sort the calls for you, but I just wonder why we should even need a second app.
Contacts + does a real good job, but it is still immature as an app.
Regarding why I wouldn't just scroll back through the "all" play log. Somrtimes you are trying to find the number from a call from a week back and all you know is that it was "missed". Statistics is useless for that. We have a great dialer. Can we just sort our calls?

Is it possible cancel a single phone number instead of all calls or all the calls for a contact?
I have italian ROM version 1.19.408.1.
Thanks in advance
are you talking about deleting a call in the call history? if so, here's how to hide your mistress' calls.
Press the send key to pull up the phone app & then the bottom left of the dialer there is a Call History button. that will bring up all the individual calls & you can select & delete & hide your affair.
enjoy

Thanks for your answer but your advice doesn't work in my phone with the european rom reported above. I need to delete a single phone to a dialer and not all the phone calls to that dialer.
FOr exampke if I call a friend 10 times and he can't answer I will found in my call history all the 10 calling and this generates confusion, so I want to be free to delete wath I want in my history call to obtain the better information I need.
If in the future, as you mention , I will need to make some "mistress calls" I will use a first generation phone (never a pocket PC phone ) and another sim card but it is not time yet .
Thanks in advance for your cooperation
Call you post a screenshot of what pops up when you press the Call History icon on the dialer? I'd like to see if it's the same as mine.
This was a feature I was also looking for.
I found this on a ROM with Manila 2.5. I apologize but I forgot which one. The ROM was a bit unstable so I am presently using another. I will PM the OP with the ROM I used.
---edit---
It was a ROM with Manila 2.5 build 23049
You can delete all calls to an individual caller (or all calls to all callers) but on Manila 2.1 it is not possible to delete a single call to that caller.

It is possible on 2.1 doing what i described. from the Phone/Dialer, press the bottom left icon for Call History & it will bring up individual calls (sort of like the old WM way) & you can press & hold a single call & it will pop up with an option to delete or you can do it through the Menu.

Wow... I can't believe it was right in front of my eyes the whole time! I was going through my call history from the 6.1 contacts.
Thanks
And for the record, it's the icon directly to the left of the Talk button when you bring up the dialer.
The icon to the left of TALK button on my TP2 toggles between voice calls and video calls. There is no Call History icon
Call History can be called up using the right softkey Menu > Call History, or click on the icon to the right of the call entry, which only gives me the option to delete all calls to that particular caller.
hmm, must be a US only thing then.

Yes, I can't find it on my European version of the TP2.
I think freakingwilly did mention a way to do it: through the 'Contacts' app in the 'All Programs' list.
t's a bit fiddly, but the way I've done it is:
1. Press the Phone/Send key to get a list of recent calls, and hit the button to the right side of that entry to get to the Contact Details page
2. Once you're there, press 'More' in the Information section
3. This will bring you out of TouchFLO into Windows Mobile 6.1 page for that contact
4. Tap on 'Last Call' (this will only be present if there is any call history to see)
5. You'll see a list of last calls for that contact which you can delete individually.
Note that this only works if that number is in your phonebook contact list - I haven't found a way to delete unknown callers short of saving them to my phonebook first.

Correct !
Indeed, it's a US thing.
The simplest thing I've found is simply to exist TF3D/Sense. I have installed the Darkness Toggler for TF3D Sense/Titanium/SpbShell. Once out of Sense, the option to hold down and delete individual calls is there.
I have US Tmo 6.5 rom. Press and hold does not bring up any menu for me and the moment I let it go, it simply dials that number for me.
@see_u_then:
What you described comes from the TF3D-Sense. Once you get quit sense, you will get the option to delete. As I said in the note above yours, I simply toggle between shells (TF3D/Spb Shell/Titanium). I get the option in all shells (or no shell) except in TF3D-Sense.
(As an aside, it's interesting that they removed this option in the TF3D-Sense2.1. The option was there in the WM6.1/TF3D Manila2.1 version that I had before the "update").
Is it possible to have gVoice only handle calls to my google number? I don't want calls to my sprint number to be handled by the google voice so I guess I'd have two seperate voicemails set up.
What do you mean? GV only forwards calls made to your GV number to your Sprint number or whatever number you specify. It does not handle calls made to your Sprint number.
Plus i think you're posting in the wrong section.
Google Voice is an app right? Would this be better in General?
If you call my sprint number right now, it will go to google voice's voicemail.
You can modify this in the google voice settings (not from your phone). Whether sprint or Google voice gets the voicemail is not a function of the app.
Go to google.com/voice > Settings on top right > Voice Settings. Under 'Cell' click 'Edit' then 'show advanced settings', then under 'Forwarding options' you click 'deactivate'.
.. Since it says "When someone calls this phone directly and I don't pick up". By directly, they must mean your actual cell phone number.

Thanks a bunch! I think that's what I needed. Will test tonight when my girl gets home. I use the google voice for my business, so I like to use two separate numbers/voicemails. thanks!

If you haven't already, check out the options for different voicemail greetings for different contacts. e.g. When my girlfriend calls, she gets her own custom greeting, whereas, if anyone calls who is grouped in my "work" contacts, they get their own, slightly more professional greeting, and so on. Also, there are options to screen certain calls (as if they're going through a service before it reaches you) and let others pass directly through to you.
Enjoy!

Yeah I like that option, but I have all personal calls go to my cell number, even if they aren't in my contacts list. I wish I could still use google voice for both voicemails, but without the numbers already being in my contacts, they'd always get the business voicemail, which would be confusing.
I recall in CM7 that blacklisting numbers from the call log (long press on the number, then press blacklist) was possible, but I haven't seen that option since starting to use ICS. Am I missing something? Is this still possible? Does it require a different caller apk?

I recall this as well in CM7. In ICS, it is integrated into the new "People" app (previously Contacts).
From what I remember, blacklisting in CM7 sent all calls from that person directly to voicemail. To reach this from the Dialer app in CM9:
- Click on the contact's icon
- Click the image again to go to their contact in the People app
- Open the menu and select "All calls to voicemail"
Hope this helps!

Thanks; that is close, it's actually what I do now. The nice feature about the blacklist was you didn't have to have the person added as a contact. The caller wouldn't show up in missed calls, either. Sending "all calls to voicemail" still requires adding the person as a contact and logs that as a missed call.
Close, but no cigar.

I use Avast! for this. It has a bunch of blacklist / call screening options that work on a root level to bypass the dialer. It can also keep logs & such if you want, but keeps it out of the main dialer logs. I definitely recommend!
My dad's SGS2 for Sprint recently went 4.0.4 OTA and though I was excited for him, he's not happy about the default call log only showing recent call activity by date and not by caller as he claims it used to be. For instance, he runs a business and for him it's important to be able to click on a contact and have all call log data available in one spot for that contact as opposed to scrolling through the entire history of all callers to find when he may have missed a call from someone. Does anyone know of an app or ROM that could help? This apparently can be done for people who are registered contacts, but he wants it done for when someone's not a contact.
Still Possible / Horribly Inconvenient
This is the nicest free replacement dialer IMO, a MiUI style dialer with the same functionality your father is looking for.
play . google . com /store/apps/details?id=com.modoohut.dialer&hl=ja
I'm looking for a new Text-To-Speech app that announces the name of who's calling and who's texting me. I just uninstalled Voice Alerts because it doesn't announce names without cutting out and worse, it doesn't stop announcing caller's names long after you've declined the call. I also used SMS Alerts and some others, but each one ends up failing.
Does anyone else use an app like this on their GN2?
Hmm... guess no one like to use TTS announcements instead of ringtones like I do. I did find and am trying out "Call Announcer". I had a minor problem at first so I contacted the Developer who replied fairly quickly. It's working so far.
I've used Full Screen Caller ID for quite a while: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.androminigsm.fscifree&hl=en
Besides the bigger contact picture, it will announce calls and read text messages.
Turn on driving mode under touchwiz. (You will find it under the quick toggles in the pull down notification screen.)
I am not 100% it works the way you want it to, but it does announce who is calling and who sent you a text message. Play with it.
I was wondering how that was happening on my mom's note.
