I find the moon percentage illumination is off. After poking around, it appears the moon percentage illumination is correct for London, England, which means in Los Angeles it is 8 hours off. This is, say, the difference between 50% and 53%. Does anyone know a way to adjust the moon percentage for location? It seems like a bug in the Zooper program. I created a moon program that uses 200 images to have fine accuracy, but it is 8 hours off.

just curious if these screens are actually calibrated my first i had a transparant line running down the centre of screen, my second appears fine however when i set it to the same brightness as my first nexus i was getting heavy banding on dialer / greys with task bar pulled down.
So i lowered brightness to 35% and all seems well , however 35% brightness on this is around the same as 65% on my first device. Not so much a issue but did think it was strange as this would affect auto brightness settings between devices.
I set my watch to use auto brightness. In a dark location, like movie theater or dark room, the auto brightness is not working properly:
- when I receive notification, the watch screen turned on at the full brightness. After about 2 seconds, then it either turn off the screen or the brightness reduced.
- when I wake up the watch manually, same thing happen.
Anyone experiencing this?
I usually see the opposite, where in a dark room, it comes on so dim that I can 't even see it, then brightens after a couple seconds. However, your general point is right on... the auto-brightness definitely needs some improvement.
Hmmm...That's interesting.
Really tick me off when I just woke up and the bright screen blast my eye. I am using the watch with sleep android app, but I think I'll forgo that.
Auto brightness in dark situation for me is terrible. It is even dime than level 1 brightness. I can only see time, but can not read notification clearly. I change to level 1 setting, it is great. And save lots of battery as well.
Moto 360 Brightness
Try the application "smart brightness for moto 360" from the Google play. With this application you can set a minimum brightness and better view in low light environments.
With the minimum set to 20% and auto brightness on you will get better battery life and better experience in dark situation.
I've seen a couple posts about delays with adaptive brightness, but this is a different item. I'm seeing that the adaptive brightness alters the brightness a little too dramatically. In a somewhat dark room (not pitch black) the brightness will be at absolute minimum even when the brightness is about 1/3 up on the slider. In a moderately bright room that same brightness setting will be near maximum.
Does anyone else notice this as an issue? I'm just wondering if it's normal (ie, software calibration issue) or if the brightness sensor might not be seated correctly.
It's normal. Or at least it sounds like it is working the same way mine is. And yes, IMO it is a little too sensitive. The Lux app works beautifully if you want an alternative. Also, the goog is known for tweaking this feature over time with updates.
I've noticed this too. The biggest thing for me is walking down the street at dusk (so not dark out yet) I can't read the screen as it turns it all the way down, then, when I walk under a street light, it turns it all the way up to full! It's one extreme or the other, there seems to be no middle ground.
In other words "adaptive brightness has mind of its own!"
This is why I have always kept this setting off. The brightness just changing on its own always annoyed me.
When it works properly (and it should) for ones uses, it's great, it's automatic, what's not to like? It's a pita to always have to change brightness manually just to see a phone display depending on ambient lighting which varies immensely for many users.

I agree. I have it set to maybe around 15-20% (centered over the WiFi symbol below it) and I never need to touch it. Gets dark enough for night driving and bright enough to read outside. Never found it stuck on one or the other when it shouldn't be.

If you buy the app Lux you can customize how it adapts your brightness. The free version is good to but you have to use mostly default settings. By default it only adapts brightness when the screen turns on.
I tried lux but even though it mentions it can dim based on gps sunset/sunrise it needs a light sensor still. I also tried XPosedMTC but was told that with newer Malaysk ROMs it just doesn't work. Anyone have anything that actually does do this fairly easy task?
Thanks
Dave

I use Tasker for that.
Just create a scene with a dark transparent background and let tasker show this scene between some hours
Thanks I'm looking for an easier, more automatic application. They have some that use GPS, there has to be one that works.
Dave
Tasker is the most automatacly APP i know
You can make everything possible with that APP Also the position and time aumatic you want.
The thing is it gets dark at different times at different times of the year. Its 5pm in winter and 9pm in summer so this would be problematic w/ a hard and fasat time.
Dave
look at the tasker plugin Locale/Tasker Twilight Plug-in
Here is the description. should do exactly what your looking to do
Have different day and night situations or have a situation for morning twilight. Or have a situation start 10 minutes before sunrise and end 20 minutest after sunrise.
This app knows when the sun rises and sets.
With Twilight situations can start and end at the following times:
- Astronomical dawn
- Nautical dawn
- Civil dawn
- Sunrise
- Sunset
- Civil dusk
- Nautical dusk
- Astronomical dusk
Or a number of minutes before or after them.
The place for where the times are calculated can either be a fixed, by the user chosen location, or the current location of the device.
Thanks much, I'm going to have to research what commands actually initiate the screen dimming/brightness level.

Blankstar, could you help me out a bit. I have the plugin installed but i'm a bit confused on the task. I selected action display | display | brightness but this is where I get lost. I did set an action to disable auto brightness as the app suggests then created another action to set brightness to 0 for sunset to sunrise (Actually not that dim). I then thiink I set another task from sunrise to sunset w/ 255 screen brightness correct? Do I need to turn auto brightness back on? The help files don't help me much here. Is there a way to gradually taper down the screen brightness over the last hour of light so the screen just doesn't go from full bright to full dark or is there no linear setting w/o setting up 20 or 30 tasks to adjust brightness over that last hour?
**Update**
I did get it working but oddly the time before/after sunset/sunrise appears to be ignored. It just runs at the time displayed for sunset/dusk/etc. Not sure why. I would set the time before a minute before the current time and wait and it just wouldn't do anything. Then sure enough at the sunset display time it worked. Anyone ever experience this? Maybe it doesn't use the same clock as the phones displayed time?
Dave
You can use Tasker (State Plugin) with the Twilight Plugin & Screen Filter (Action Plugin).
if you want to use Lux, you can define it as the following settings:

Thanks I'll try your lux settings. my lux settings never worked. You have confirmed it does auto dim? Is it gradual or does it just go to a predefined dimness at a certain point in time relative to sunrise/sunset?
Thanks
Dave
Tried your settings w/o luck. I can manually enable the night setting but it won't auto set it. It is daylight here now so as a test If i set the sunset to 2pm (It is 3:19PM here) and it will not activate the night setting. If I manually enable night mode and then switch the location from my sunset time of 2pm back to GPS it then puts the bightness to full light (100%) it should but it does not enable night mode or dim the screen.
**UPDATE**
Well I guess I stand corrected. While I could not set a sunset/sunrise time manually to get it to do its thing If i set GPS sunrise/sunset it did in fact dim so who knows? It is working so I'll take it.

Same for me.... Changing time has no effect... What is KCAL or CF Lumen support?
Whats the setting for the profile? Day? Night? Auto? Intelligent?
I am not sure why, but sometimes I get the weather on the ambient display, and sometimes I don't. Any ideas what needs to be done?
Thanks
I found the ambient display of weather only works when its charging, and for a little while later after I take it off the charger. I have battery optimization turned off. What could be causing this?? Strange.
No idea. I also have this
Me too, sometimes I get the weather on the ambient display, and sometimes I don't... It's weird...
The weather is shown at dawn or the first hours of use (when you wake up, for example). Is like a resume for the day.
Ambient display shows relevant information depending on what are you doing or the hour of the day.
Why not just have a choice to display it all day?
