Hey XDA,
You know the buzz these days are for the Galaxy S5 themes right?
Have you tried the New flat Touchwiz theme from Galaxy S5 brought to you by Kik0o and DrKaOt? If not, Go check it out! It's awesome!
This MOD is the Perfect Addition to that theme to make it look Perfect and Complete!
Of course you can try this without the above theme as well. :fingers-crossed:
You know after theming your 4.3 Stock ROM with the S5 theme the expanded QuickSettings Panel looks like this right?
Ever wondered if this area had toggles to make the QuickSettings look more complete?

Well, the time has come my friend
Here's how you do it.
Backup your ROM in case if anything goes wrong.
Download & Install SQLite Editor from the attachments.
Open SQLite Editor and allow Root Permissions. (If for some reason you get the Error Code 14 message when trying to run SQLite Editor, you will need to download and install TB Restore Fixer from the Play Store)
After searching and having generated the list, scroll down and tap the "Settings Storage" file.
Tap the "settings.db" file.
Tap the "system" file.
Once in the system file, scroll down until you find "notification_panel_active_app_list", tap to highlight it. (It was #899 in my device). You'll have to tap the one right above it to get it to highlight. Also make sure it's the notification_panel_active_app_list, and NOT the notification_panel_default_active_app_list.
Once you have highlighted it, tap your phones menu button and tap on "Edit Record".
Navigate to "values".
At the end of the list add ;SmartPause;Brightness;SmartNetwork;
Remember to add Semicolon at the end.
Once you are done adding the names, Press Save.
Reboot your device.
Once booted up you should see the extra toggles you just added.
*The Smart Pause may not actually Pause any content but will take you to the Smart Stay function.
The list of toggles you can add.
;MobileData;AirplaneMode;SmartPause;Brightness;WiFiHotspot;SmartScroll;SmartStay;SBeam;Nfc;AirGesture;DormantMode;AirView;SmartNetwork;ReadingMode;PersonalMode;ToddlerMode;

Check whether you are still editing the "notification_panel_active_app_list". And remember to put a semicolon after the final word.
Compare what you have modified with the attached thumbnail.

Also add this
Code:
SmartScroll;PersonalMode;ToddlerMode;
Make sure you have only 20toggles to look like S5 quicksetting...remove brightness coz it has graphical bugs.i dont want to see this in landscape.

Good day sir, thanks for this. I'm using NeatROM v7.5 and it has 21 Toggles, they added the "Flashlight", I flashed the S5 4.4 SystemUI by sir DrKaOt, my problem is I can't get the flashlight to become visible in my Quicksettings/Toggles. But when you go to settings/notification panel, it's in there. So in short, I only have 20 Toggles visible on the Notification Panel.

Hello GUIse
Just to pre-warn you before we get into the good stuff, this is my first ever attempt at porting/customising a theme so please bare with me as I prepare to get everything sorted.
Enough of my babbling, you want a theme right? Well, look below and you will see the awesomeness
Here's a few things you need:
- A Galaxy S II (Obviously)
- A Fully Deo-Dexed ROM (Working on Lite'ning ROM 1.4 at the moment)
- A bit of patience (As I said, first ever attempt at porting a theme)
- A ROM that already has Advanced Power Menu Pre-loaded
- A ROM that already has the Overscroll & CRT Effect
Villain ROM 1.2 User's
According to a reliable source the theme DOES work on VR1.2 with the CWM4 Kernel (By Chainfire) also, remember to apply the permissions fix via the VRTweaks app BEFORE applying this theme.
Good luck.
Villain ROM 1.1 User's
This theme doesn't work with VR1.1 (Creates multiple FC's) if you want me to make a VR1.1 version please upload your framework-res.apk, systemui.apk & settings.apk in a ZIP file and I will make one (Or ask Vertumus)

1. Download the ZIP file from the download section below and DO NOT unzip it
2. Copy the .ZIP file to your INTERNAL SD card
3. Boot your phone into Clockwork Recovery (When phone is turned off hold Vol Up, Home & Power Button until CWM Appears)
4. Select 'Install ZIP from SD Card'
5. Select 'Choose Zip from SD Card'
6. Then select the .ZIP file you downloaded and placed on your internal sd card
This should then boot into my theme.

But why are you doing this to VillainROM? It's been inactive for many weeks and Lite'nin is more popular so I'd assume even more people are gonna switch to Lite'nin rom in the future.

Hi all,
I was wondering with all the fantastic softkey modifications so far, would it be possible to incorporate the app drawer launcher button in the softkey bar? This would simplify the interface at the bottom of the stock launcher screen and create more desktop real estate. For people like myself who like a minimal-istic look with full view of the wallpaper it would be great too!
I have attached an image to better explain what I mean.
Button function would be as follows:
Back key: Back & long press to kill current app.
Home Key: Home.
App key: Open/Close app drawer.
Multi-task key: Multi task.
Menu key: Context sensitive menu & long press for Search.
Many thanks folks!
very awesome idea, i like it!
I like that one too; is it even possible to access the app drawer directly out of an app ?
Wow that is exactly what i want out of my soft keys!...
Interesting idea.

Yes, wave launcher can already do this
I would like this as well, good idea.
+1 for this idea. If I knew how to write fresh code and went down the developer path I may of taken this on...why oh why did I have to take the theming path
Great idea all the same, lets hope a talented dev can get this done.
very awesome idea +1 ^^
Ah fantastic, thanks for the great response folks, I'm glad people like the idea too. I only wish I had the coding knowledge to work on it myself... I'm slowly trying to learn as much as I can, but this is well out of my league currently lol!
Hopefully one of our many talented devs will like the idea as well and be able to put something together
that is one amazing concept, I suggest we all make requests for this at the thread of the ROM we're each currently using, a lot of our awesome devs take requests!
You could do what I do is use a third party launcher such as ADW and turn off the dock. Set the home button binding to open and close the app drawer.
Just throwing out a suggestion.

I'd suggest contacting RomanBB, he's working on AOKP adding options and ROM control to his ROM. I'm guessing he might know what to do
Thanks for the help Nitroz and by the way im running black exodus on Bixixe 8 and i love it, the look the feel the everything...
Basically You would need to create a shortcut to to the app drawer in a specific launcher. Or a shortcut to a specific app like 3d app drawer.
This would be awesome. I love the minimalistic look....
I already modded my stock launcher to not have the white line above the icons.... and then deleted my icons just for the sole purpose of keeping it minimal and maxing wallpaper space.
I would love the ability to add a launcher button to the soft keys, but what would the button do while the launcher is already up... or an app is open? Would it dissapear.... that would be cool.

Having had the original idea, I really would like to code this myself therefore giving something back to the community, but as I said I really wouldn't know where to start.
My assumption based on what I've read is that this would require modifications to the system ui apk?
Anyone who could help me with this it would be much appreciated.
How did you remove the line above the launcher icons as this would need to be part of the mod, perhaps if I start with simple changes I could move on from there?
I was thinking 'ClearLauncher' as a mod name too???
Thanks

Since we have a dedicated recent apps button, I think it'd be cool if we could long press the home button for the app drawer. It would make it even more minimalistic

Yea.... all the modding for the new soft key icon should be within SystemUI.apk. there is tutorial on rootzwiki showing how to add buttons like search to the soft keys. It was all done within systemui. It should be the same process, except i have no idea what the code would be for the app drawer. I can send a link to the tutorial when i get on my computer.
Also, to remove the white line..... that was part of the launcher. Launcher2.apk. it was just an image edit. Changed the .png from white to transparent. I dont know the exact filename off the top of my head, but ill post that too when i get on my computer.
I've ventured into modding the softkeys keys with help from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21258064#post21258064
You must know how to decompile/recompile the SystemUI.apk in order to get started. Once you open the appropriate .xml, you need to edit the "keycode" values of the buttons which can obtained from here:
http://developer.android.com/reference/android/view/KeyEvent.html
The only problem is is that keycode actions are limited. This means that only certain buttons can appear in the navigation bar. If you look at the Android dev site, the only useful ones I've found through my testing that actually worked were:
KEYCODE_POWER - This powers off the device.
KEYCODE_CALL - Launches the "Phone" app.
KEYCODE_EXPLORER - Launches the "Browser" app.
KEYCODE_MUSIC - Launches the "Music" app.
KEYCODE_CONTACTS - Launches the "Contacts" app.
KEYCODE_CALCULATOR - Launches the "Calculator" app.
KEYCODE_CALENDAR - Launches the "Calendar" app.
I was hoping KEYCODE_CAMERA and KEYCODE_NOTIFICATION would allow me to go into the Camera app and bring down the notification bar respectively but they didn't work with my testing. KEYCODE_CAMERA only takes a picture when you are in the Camera app already which isn't useful.
So as you can see, a softkey for the App Drawer isn't possible through these means as there lacks a "keycode" for it. I assume if it's even possible for the ability to launch any app, such as the app drawer, it would require some deep hacking which I'm not familiar with by any means. A real dev would have to take on this task. However, if you want buttons in the nav bar that can launch those above, it's easy. I've personally added a button to power off the device as seen below:

MODDED MMS.APK FOR SGS III
This Mms.apk is the same as the stock one, except for the mods I applied. It is the most close to the stock Mms.apk, just with some better features! ;D
Downloads: If you're looking for the download links, I took them from the attachments because they were not specifically for the S3. If you still want this mod, visit my thread in I9000 forums, here is the link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1667615. You can install it fine! It will work! Some people are reporting a multiple thread bug, but you can give it a go! It won't brick your phone! LOL you can backup your mms.apk, install my mod (made for I9000) if it works, you keep that freakin cool mod I made, if it doesn't work, you can always go back to your previous mms.apk. AS SIMPLE AS THAT!
FIX MULTIPLE THREADS FOR SAME CONTACT: try to add your country code to the contact in the phonebook. For example, in Portugal the country code prefix is 00 351.. so if my mobile number was 961 234 567, you would have to edit the phonebook and make it 00 351 961 234 567. Try and it tell me the results. Ty.
Features:
- Inverted (optional): black background instead of white (check attachments to download the apk you want: inverted or non-inverted);
- No MMS conversion: you can type very long messages and it won't automatically convert it to a MMS;
- Unlimited Recipients list: you can now send your message to more than 20 people at the same time;
- Original Time Stamps: this makes original time stamps setting actually work: it shows the exact sent time of received messages, not the moment when you actually receive it on your phone;
- New Line Option: have you noticed that stupid "" key next to the space bar? Yeah, where the "new line" key should be? Google did it! But this mod changes that "" key to "new line" key as it should always be.
- 160 characters capacity: 160 characters capacity per SMS for other languages other than English, and not 60-70. No more extra costs for longer messages!
- Bigger Writing Window: if you notice, when you are typing long sms, you can only see 3 sentences of what you've typed. I've changed that value to 5 sentences and it feels much better. Now you can see 5 sentences of the message you're typing.
- Emoji Support: a set of 471 nice emoticons.
- Changed default android heart smiley: do you know that green smiley when you type '<3'? Removed that green android and replaced it with a neat heart (see screenshots).
- Speech Bubbles: some nice balloons around the texts. Two styles: touchwiz bubbles (tw-bubbles) or iphone bubbles (iphone-bubbles).
- With/without Avatars: you can choose the version with avatar pics or the one without them.
- With/without SGS III icons: the versions with this tag have the messaging app icon of the SGS III, as well as the smileys.
- Pop-up notification: Enable this in settings. A pop-up will show up when a new message is received. You can reply right away.
How to install:
Using a file explorer:
If you've downloaded the Mms_xxxx.apk:
1. Use something like root explorer
2. Go to /system/app and mount R/W
3. Rename current 'SecMms.apk' to 'SecMms.apk.bak' (this is a backup)
4. Copy the 'Mms_modded.apk' you downloaded to /system/app
5. Rename 'Mms_modded.apk' to 'SecMms.apk'
6. Change 'Mms.apk' permissions to: rw-r--r--
7. Mount R/O
8. Reboot your phone.
Changelog:
[09-08-2012] - Starting SGS III project:
- First modded versions.
Future features:
- Select multiple recipients from contacts list: I really miss this tiny feature from GB. Instead of typing contacts name one by one, you could go to your contact list and select multiple contacts for mass sms. If someone has the time and knowledge to help me do this, I would be very thankfull.

no cwm zips.. sorry. takes to long to upload even more attachments.. install with something like root explorer, replace messaging app and change the proper permissions..
i dont know if this can be fixed.. but i noticed that when you scroll over a thread of a message, there's this white color that appears on the space below the avatars.. it just ruins the pure black appearance of the app though.. ill attach a screenshot for reference.. thanks for this great mod though! ;-)

hmm, this never happened before.. could you tell me specifically which version you're using so I can solve this?
I don't have this issue with the white bars.
One request. Would it be possible maybe to get a modded version non inverted with avatars and normal emoticons and not those ugly green android ones?
Scribbled on I9300 using Tapatalk 2
I don't have a white bar issue either. But I noticed your change the notification icon too... I prefer it stock, the icon used is not pretty.

this isn't a problem of my app but from ics itself. Sometimes when you don't receive notifications, if you go to your homescreen, long press the home button, you get to the task manager. wipe the messaging app to end it and now you should get sms notifications.
just want to show you a video of the bug that i was talking about.. sorry for the quality as i used an SGS2 for video recording.. hope this helps you dev in solving the issue..

Hi Everyone - After a little nagging from a few of them, I've finally been persuaded to put together a thread
to share some of the mods I've made with the help of my NeatROM family.
Without them and _Sale_ 's NeatROM, I'd still be staring at a stock Samsung Galaxy SII, which is a scary thought.
I'm partial to 'tarting' up my phone a bit so most of this stuff is sort of 'fancy'.
I mean, we have a HOT color screen, so why not enjoy it!
This thread will be a WIP (work in progress) lots of screenshots to make and Zips to prepare.
Be patient, be kind and I'll even accept requests, within reason and time permitting, of course.
I work all day, have a family and this is just a hobby!
DOWNLOAD LINK - See Post #3.
Blue Glow Theme mods Menu POPUPS, Dialer, Contacts, Mms, Phone, Framework and Lidroid Toggle Background. Also adds all the S4 Faces.
Pics show my Bottom Toggles - will only change the background behind your Lidroid Toggles to Blue Glow
Notification Panel Backgrounds for 23 Bottom Toggles
(Mod based on churapa's guide) with Brightness slider.
These are based on the expectation that you have already flashed one of engloa's 23 Toggle Mods.
Picture has been sized and laid out so as not to be hidden by the toggles or slider. The png used REPLACES the
notification_panel.9.png with a std png file.
My '23 Bottom Toggle with Brightness Slider' mod is linked in Downloads. I've added a 'Recent Apps'
button to the Notification Bar Header. The mod comes with a plain black background.
You can then flash the Notification picture of your choice after this.
For our Top Toggle users.
S4 Contacts faces to replace the 'Mr Nobody' look we got on our S2's.
This mods SecPhone, SecContacts and SecMms.
Framework Mods to tart up the Menu Popups.
Dialer Mod to match Blue Glow Menu Popups also adds all the S4 Faces.
To all those who have helped and guided me, I hope I've remembered you all. Please let me know if I leave anyone out.

Thread 're-open' post #117 and update.
I've used the "VillainROM' VRTheme structure/scripts to enable the flashing of these mods.
A HUGE thank you to them for creating this and allowing us to use it.
23 Fancy Toggles as shown in above screenshots.
This will work on MS1 as 23 toggles are built in to the ROM!
(Anything pre XWLSZ - Will only work if you have flashed engloa's mod first)

Changing PNGs inside your APKs - Guide
Simple Mods for Toggles and other Icons for NeatROM.
This is aimed at beginners who, like me, have a Chernobyl moment when faced with coding and modding for Android.
It’s simple, like me, and it’s how I started.
Tools:
7Zip - http://www.7-zip.org/download.html
Gimp - http://www.gimp.org/ or
Paint.Net http://www.getpaint.net/ or
Photoshop.
Some form of android decompiler/compiler – search xda or Google.
Toggles:
The toggle icons or XXXXXX.png files are in two places depending on whether you are modding the stock icons or engloa’s 23 toggle icons.
Stock will be in SystemUI.apk - res\drawable-hdpi
These toggle icons are called:
‘tw_quick_panel_icon_rotation_on.png’ & ‘tw_quick_panel_icon_rotation_off.png’ and so on all starting with ‘tw_quick_panel_icon_xxx_off’ or ‘tw_quick_panel_icon_xxx_on’
Engloa’s, Wanam's and Sale's 23 Toggle mods are in lidroid-res.apk - res\drawable-hdpi
These toggle icons are called:
‘stat_airplane_off.png’ & ‘stat_airplane_on.png’ and so on all starting with ‘stat_xxx_off’ and ‘stat_xxx_on’
We will be talking about modifying the 23 Toggle Mods engloa has made for us.
With his kind permission and giving him all due credit of course.
What I do is use 7Zip to open the mod zip…..
There will be other files in the zip that we are not interested in for this exercise, HOWEVER, leave them alone, don’t remove what you are not sure of. Open ‘system’ to see below.
Open ‘framework’ to see below
Open ‘lidroid-res.apk’ to see below. This opens the apk (like a zip file) within the open mod zip(I hope that makes sense – it is important for later so get it right now)
Open ‘res’ to see below the contents of the ‘res’ folder. Remember the ‘drawable-hdpi’ folder…
Open it up to see its contents like below. If 7Zip is behaving correctly, you will still not have ‘EXTRACTED’ anything from the zip files.
Now for ease of use and to be able to view things a lot better, go back one step so you are at the screen below, use the up arrow just below the big Add button.
Now open up a new folder, labelled of course, and drag ‘drawable-hdpi’ into it.
Open that up to see all the png files inside. You will see in this pic that the ones I’ve modded are VERY different to the others and easy to find. View them as ICONS of course, not the file names.
You can now create new toggle icons to your hearts content and replace the ones here with your own.
No I don’t know where all of the other png’s are used.
As future ‘Recognised Themers’ and ‘Recognized Contributors’ and ‘ROM cookers’, that’s your adventure.
You can create all your icons and store them in a separate folder or in here, overwriting the existing ones.
Where you store them will change the path we follow when we update the mod zip for testing.
Use the same sizes as what you found the originals to be, would be my recommendation.
Example: 60X60 for the ‘six on a screen’ toggles in the ‘23 Toggle Mods’.
NOW to see whether your creation works.
I don’t have an emulator or know of one so I test on my phone.
You are going to replace all the modified PNG files inside the ‘res\drawable-hdpi’ folder in lidroid-res.apk.
Use 7Zip and open the mod zip following the same path all the way down until you get to here:
Now we simply drag the ‘drawable-hdpi’ folder containing all the new icons and all the unmodified icons across and drop it into the zip. It will ask you if you’re sure and of course you will be so ‘YES’.
You will see that the ‘drawable-hdpi’ folder now has a date when you modified it.
Use the ‘back’ button again and again until you get this message. Answer ‘OK’ and the lidroid-res.apk will be updated inside the main mod zip file.
Use the back button again and again until here and then exit out of the mod zip.
Your MOD is now ready to be copied to your phone and flashed via CWM for testing and more testing!
If it doesn’t work, well I’m sure you made a NANDROID backup BEFORE you started messing around, so restore to a working phone and try again.
That’s it – if it works and you think others might like it SHARE IT! Fame and fortune awaits.(Well maybe!)
Yes, there are ways to update these files on the phone using apktool and other ‘strange’ methods, but they involve changing file permissions and such and then you don’t have a readymade MOD file that you can share with everyone on the NeatROM thread.
Obviously this is just the basics. Once you start exploring the Villain Rom Theming methods I've used for most of the mods above, things change slightly and you will only have the pngs you have changed in your zip files.
That is altogether another guide and I would point you to the Villain ROM thread for more info.
NB!!
This will not work with the 9 patch or xxx.9.png files. (unless you are simply swapping out pngs and not editing them)
They are a special case and require special handling. There are guides here on xda for them.
Let me be the first one to congratulate you!

If you are talking about using different themes from the settings with the option that is normally hidden you do not need G3Tweakbox.

If you download the "launcherpro" app from the play store and copy its activities widget to your home screen it will give you a list of apps/functions of apps that you can add as a shortcut on your home screen. If you scroll down to "Home" one of the options is "Home" with the subtext "com.lge.launcher2.debug.LGHomeHiddenMenuActivity" . Choose that option and you'll get a shortcut on your home screen that lets you access a menu with a variety of options. The one of interest for this thread is "Feature_Hide_Theme_Setting" on my G3 this was enabled, I turned it off I now I actually have access to themes in my home screen settings.
Once you unhide the menu you can actually get rid of launcher pro and themes will still be accesible. The theme menu is under Settings-Display-Home screen. You can also access the theme menu from the home screen by doing a long hold on the task switcher button and Theme will be an option on that popup menu along with system settings, lock screen settings, etc.
This only works if you still have KitKat, if you have Lollipop the Launcher Pro activity widget won't work(or at least it didn't for me). For lollipop I ended up finding an App called "activity launcher" and it did not list ""com.lge.launcher2.debug.LGHomeHiddenMenuActivity" as an option but I was able to select another entry and use Activity Launcer's option to edit shortcuts before making them to manually enter "com.lge.launcher2.debug.LGHomeHiddenMenuActivity" and got into the hidden menu with it.

Activity launcher app... Choose all activities, choose home then you'll get a drop down of activities within home. Long press the one that says home, select edit shortcut, under class erase what's there and type "com.lge.launcher2.debug.LGHomeHiddenMenuActivity" then save. You now have a shortcut on the home screen to the hidden menu where you can turn on feature theme..
For some reason my post is saving com.lge.launcher2.debug.LGHomeHiddenMenuActiv ity with a space in activity. Remove the space..

Thanks for the explanation. I've done as you've explained and I get a toast notification "app not installed" (I'm on stock rooted 20b lollipop no xposed BTW). I'm assuming this means that either LG or T-Mobile removed the Theme app altogether in the Lollipop build. Has this worked for you on Lollipop to open the theme app or did I just read your post wrong?

I wish I can find something to change the icon on the status bar to AOSP.
I guess there is still no Theme for the T-Mobile Version Stock unless we use G3TweakBox with xposed which xposed has a lot of issues still.
