Hi all,
I'm looking to purchase this phone but cannot decide on which to get either the silver or the grey version.
I know it's for me to decide once I have seen them in the flesh but I won't be able to do this for a few days.
I just want to get people's opinions from those that have seen both colours.
Thanks for your responses.
Well man I have seen none of them but having seen the M7 in both black and silver version, I can definitely say go for the silver version not grey because it's closer to black than to silver. Besides, i have seen somewhere in here a poll about the colours (in general also I think) and i was surprised to see around 80% of people choosing metal grey.
I for myself I prefer the silver version which is closer to white and closer to original M7 colour.
Finally, the grey version is more prone to visible scratches since once scratched, it will show original aluminium colour. However, the silver whitey one will have much less visible scratches because it's closer to aluminum colour!
If I will get this phone, and I'm still thinking about it having typed this on my LG G2, I would get the silver version definitely.

I loved the silver version on the m7 but it's no contest the gun metal grey is so much nicer than the silver .

Gun metal all the way had a chance to get silver but gun metal just looks sexy

Can anyone suggest a white case that won't get discolored? White phones don't get dirty/discolored from normal use so there must be a case that won't either. Here's my white mercury case and you can see its gotten discolored in a week. I've tried cleaning with lots of different things but nothing works. So any case suggestions would be appreciated. Or should I just give up and get a black one.

Problem is , most companies make cheap cases, and that means cheap coloring whether its in the mold or the finish. I suggest looking for a white molded case made out of PVC, if that's possible. Cheap finishes especialy white will always fade or discolor.
Go with black !
Maybe someone else has had better luck, hope you find what you need.

I have the white cruzer lite.
nice case but I regret buying white. I played golf last week and use golfshot. Big mistake. The andy android fellow got all dirty and discolored. I was able to wash it off with bleach spray. However now I am noticing that the corners are getting blue lines on them, from what I think is from my jeans. Not sure, but it wont come off.
While its not entirely white, I do use the SGP Neo Hybrid, white and it hasnt gotten dirty. I cut out the back, as someone on XDA did as well, and I love it. See pics from Rootzwiki i posted:

I also ordered the Rigke Slim for the LTE Galaxy Nexus in white. It should ship today, and Ill post back how it handles dirt. I work in Construction and my phones are always exposed to getting their share of dirt/mud/mortar etc.
Doesn't exist

idont think its the dies so much as the materials. A lot of plastics yellow.. especialy when exposed to uv. and especially when white.
I know where your coming from. I have a white case as well. i think white looks good with the nexus. (wish i knew about the white nex coming to vz before i bought mine 16 days ago)
check wikipedia on plastics as far as i know only abs does not yellow. I think pvc is pretty good as well. so what ever case you buy look up the material its made with and check if it discolors...
good luck and when you do find one.. post your results here!

Any white gn owners want to chime in on how the white version is? I wish the whole front was white. Not sure why they only made half white? Any major issues I might want to know about before pulling the trigger on it? For example does it get dirtier easier or scratch easier, etc? Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks.
They made the front black because it actually looks good with the dark UI and black top/bottom bars. it would look pretty awful if the bars were black and the framing/bezel was white.
I bought the white gn the last time daily steals had it... about a month ago. I completely agree about the front. I also have a white T989 that is all white (front & back) & I like that a lot, but I haven't touched it since I got my gn. I got a yakju build. No bugs, issues, scratches or anything else ::knocks on wood::... absolutely loving this phone...

Pretty much it.

Basically. I like the look of it, compared to the titanium silver one.
It's one of the few phones where white looks a bit awkward.
Just look at the ceramic white i9100. White front/bezel = beautiful and thats how it should've been done.
But luckily, apparently some company is selling screen protectors with white top and bottom and bezel so that would make the phone much better looking.
At least its cheap to convert our titanium to white.
I wish someone made a straight up all black housing.....WOULD BE SEX!!! pure black Galaxy Nexus would look awesome with the already black screen and no buttons. Would be the purest thing ever hahaha

You mean completely re-skin the UI to be white on the white nexus? What?
if you're going to use a case, don't see a point getting the white since the case will cover it up
I always felt white phone where tacky. I don't have a white one but I assume the hyper skin would catch dirt
Sent from my iPhone smashing Galaxy Nexus
How much is a white one? best place to get it?>
You can also get a front skin to "complete" the white. http://www.decalgirl.com/skins/95096/Samsung-Galaxy-Nexus-Skin-Solid-State-White
I believe the Matte/Satin finish should match the back pretty well.
I've had both. White one is nice. Battery cover feels cheap because its all plastic and not rubbery like the titanium one. But it looks nicer overall in my opinion. And it doesn't get dirty. Not yet at least, have had it for a month. And it looks nicer with the black glass instead of white. The contrasted look is real nice.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Why buy a white one. Everyone knows black ones run faster.
^lol....don't know if thats gonna be accepted very well
My white i9100 didn't get dirty. It will stay white, dw.
But for the GN, it looks weird. The contrast doesn't look good IMO. It would definitely look better if the front was white also.
But at least it makes it easier for us with titanium to change to white. Really simple and cheap to just swap housing. Then buy a screen protector with the white decals
The question is, should the white decal go over the screen protector, or the screen protector over the white decal?

Over the screen protector.....
But there's a screen protector where it's already colored in. So it's one piece, I forgot who sells it....saw it on another thread somewhere
That's what im talking about. Like the white SGP glas for the i9100, but for the Nexus
I bought a white one and I'm quite unhappy... It looks and feels cheap. Unlike the white apple products which look and feel great, this one looks like a cheap chinese toy when compared. Yuck...

Well first of all, iPhone is made from only glass and an aluminum bumper/trim so it's definitely going to feel more high end and nicer.
If you wanted just build quality feel....should've went with something else like HTC as Samsung uses plastic. Though it doesn't creak and feels very solid. My titanium color feels very nice with the textured back cover hyperskin. Super solid and the back won't crack if it falls =P
It definitely doesn't feel cheap though. It's light and feels nice and solid. Cheap toy is something that feels flimsy and the parts are squeeking and crap.
Sorry for bumping this old thread, but I just need to clarify one thing.
Does white Galaxy Nexus back cover have the same texture as the black version?
Nice video.. was going to buy this case for mine next week.. cos i dont like bulky cases..and that non slippery texture just caught me... i have heard that it comes in grey and purple and some other colour.. i have the blue galaxy s3.. which one do you think would suit that??
get the dark blue or grey one.

Definitely go with that charcoal black or grey.
Great video dud. I hope you don't mind but i link your video to the american forums.
I got the same case in grey and it is very nice, just make sure you dont get a 'copy' as theres quite a few on ebay (it should say 'ROCK' on the back).
Even though this case might not be as protective as some TPU cases, I find the texture to provide superior grip and in- hand feel.
I've had the dark and light gray cases (authentic) for about two weeks now and they hold up well with no signs of wear.
I think I'd go so far as to say that the Rock Quicksand is THE best case I've ever had for ANY phone. And like most of you XDA folks, that's a lot of phones and cases!

Go with the Black one....which is actually a DARK GREY. Not sure why Rock even calls it Black....maybe they're color blind?I'm sure whoever created the color codes in China just called the Dark Grey Black....and the Light Grey....Grey. They should actually be Dark Grey.....Light Grey.:victory:
I bought the Generic Grey initially and thought it looked MUCH too light on my Blue GS3....kinda reminded me of the underbelly of a Stingray or even a Great White Shark....but now it's grown on me.
Just for reference the Generic Quicksand case available on Amazon has a more rubberized texture....and it's actually quite nice.
I have a few more weeks to send it back I think I'll keep it....unlike the Rearth Ringke which just doesn't do it for me even though many of the feature are ever so slightly better than the Rock.
I plan on doing a side by side comparison of all three cases right after Christmas and maybe have a few more cases to compare against each other.
Lot of people saying White has this and that problem. Are they true? I personally don't like the Gray colour at all, and wanted to buy a White one but I am confused. Is there any such problem in the white colour?
Thank you.
I'm having the same dilemma, but my gf says to get gray... apparently she doesn't "want a girlfriend", I do really enjoy the brushed lines there on the gray one though. I think the white is just too white... unlike the new iPhone 5 or the white amaze 4g or sensation by HTC with a nice metal band, coming separating two rubberized pieces of plastic (as opposed to 1 big slippery piece of plastic on this phone... god knows how many times i'm going to drop this phone)
I have the white and like it. It seems to make the device less huge and serious, and I guess I live in a place that is more open minded about men who have white phones lol.
I had a black metal bumper on my white S3 and it looked fantastic. The Note 2 is probably too big for a metal bumper so I will probably put a black tpu on it. There seems to be more you can do with the white, while the grey will always just be grey.

I agree although another reason for me to get gray is to prevent my gf from stealing my phone
But I do agree, white does look nice too, I wouldn't mind it as it does look good with the other flip cases. I do want to know if I can replace the back cover of the T-Mobile one with an international one to get rod of the carrier branding. I know the NFC module is on there but do you think its interchangeable?
Gray ofcourse

Going with the Gray here. OG white note had several reports of hairline cracks on bezel. Might be a non-issue with the 2 and i like the gray better.
from a galaxy far far away....
I went for the white one. I'm a man and my girlfriend hasn't commented on it. Besides, it's too freaking huge to look girly anyway.

same dilemma, but i feel that the white will look good and match with any color of case whereas the grey might only match well with a black case.

Grey. White seems too common nowadays.
You can't find a grey phone elsewhere!
I'm going for the Grey version more then likely... My girlfriend wants hers in White.
White here for me
Grey for me, looks fantastic much more executive looking than the toy like white IMO...
Either way though you'll end up with an amazing phone

I have the Grey. The white shows less smudges and less dust. The Grey is notorious for collecting dust in the grove around the bezel. Titanium Grey is still freaking sexy though.

Titanium Grey FTW
I have white S3 and Gray Note 2 and from experience with white S3 there is nothing wrong with white however believe me gray is much more cooler and looks sexier in person. I know because I have both colors of galaxy.

What do you mean notorious? (The phone's only been out about a week and a half) and why doesn't the white exhibit the same behavior?
I'm paranoid about dust because my Sensation just recently had dust get beneath the glass (annoying as heck in the sun) and that just takes away from the resell value
I just sold my white and I'm ordering the grey one. Nothing wrong with the white one at all, looked pretty nice but I can't get the grey off my head!
I bought the white one. It hasn't arrived yet. I'm a white supremacist so...
Just kiddin... I buy online so I couldn't weigh my option as to which looks cooler or more solid. I can only base myself from my current phones, and I come from a long line of white iphones as these show smudges and fingerprints less. When I had black/grey phones, they used to look dirty, greasy and disgusting...
I want to purchase the Glacier Silver with White front, however on US website, only black front to be found. Do they sell white front on US?
I'm the opposite lol I want the glacier and black front and I hope thats what I got lol US here and preordered on the website. The white front is ugly to me lol so many sensors visible

I don't remember which site I read it on but the statement was that Gold and Glacier Silver/White are not available for the US.
The US website we all ordered from shows Carbon Grey/Black and Glacier Silver/Black as that's all that is currently available for the US. Personally I chose Glacier Silver/Black :good:
As you can imagine this may change in the future with Carrier Branded versions like the M7 did when it ended up available in Blue and Red.
The only choices currently available on the website are Carbon Gray and Glacier Silver. I pre-ordered the Glacier Silver.

I am also confused about this. Here in Denmark the glacier silver apparently has a white front. But I also see some videos with black front, wich looks way better IMO.

Cases are so ugly and bulky though. I haven't used a case on my phone in ~5 years. I'd rather light wear and tear than an unsightly case. Obviously this is a matter of personal opinion, but mine is very much anti-case.

I want to avoid a case this time but slippery phone is always an issue. Do you put skins or anything like that?
I don't. We'll see how slippery the 10 is. My first M8 was in the gunmetal finish and it was definitely slippery enough to drop. My current M8 is red which has a more matte finish which is much easier to grip. It looks like the 10 has the same matte finish but I can't confirm.
