[Q][Galaxy ACE II] How to change bootanimation in CyanogenMod? - Galaxy Ace II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Firstly - hello, my name is Patrick and I'm not-so-much-newly registered user, but this is my first post.
And now I go to my question - how to change bootanimation in CyanogenMod 11 by Maclaw? I tried to do it in such a way, as it's written in the guides, I used Root Explorer to copy bootanimation.zip from SDCard to /system/media, I uploaded everything as described, and after restarting the phone instead of animation I have modified the default android logo. Was this version of the system has some protection against the change? If so, is it possible to somehow disable it?

Can you upload what bootanimation.zip you put instead of original one

I wouldn't upload anything, because I have no longer any of these files on disk, but I can explain what I tried to do. Well - I tried to use that animation, but it had a built-in sound and all this before I did, I was playing with this for too long. So first I commented out using the # line in the file.txt responsible for downloading music and I switched the file again. Unfortunately - appeared on the default android animation. In the end I gave up and made the next step - changed the size of all images - still I had the default bootanim, so I removed that file to recycle bin.
Even when I install this thing, I have an original bootanim of CyanogenMod - nothing is changed.

Change Ion Boot Logo/Sound [Logo Solved, Sound Needs Work]

This has been bugging me forever. I love the Ion ROM for its speed but I hate not changing the boot logo (not splash1, the boot animation). I've discovered why/how the Ion ROM is different and how to fix it (partway).
First off, Ion doesn't use the standard boot.gif & boot.mp3 files in /system/media. If you try to place the files there you will get no response. Instead Google, for whatever the reason, has changed it into framework-res.apk.
If you unzip framework-res.apk the files are inside (unzipped dir)/assets/images/. They are named android-logo-mask.png, which is the text that says Android on boot, and android-logo-shine.png, which is the white & blue shine that slides across the text as it boots. You can simply change these out and resign the apk with your method of choice to change the icon.
Now on to the sound, the ROM ships with 2 boot sounds that I can't seem to distinguish other than the names. They are located in framework-res as well, in (unzipped dir)/assets/sounds. They are named bootanim0.raw & bootanim1.raw. A good audio editor for opening .raw files is Wavepad Sound Editor by NCH Swift Sound. It works well and handles the files with ease and has a free version or a 30 day trial available.
For whatever the reason, the sound doesn't play on boot by default. I haven't had a lot of time to mess with it but I believe the problem lies in init.rc when it calls the boot image, I know thats how it works on other ROMs but I haven't looked into Ion init.rc yet. You can probably tweak the init.rc to call the bootanim0.raw file to play when the logo shows. I will play around with it.
Hope this helps anyone else with this problem and PM me or post in this thread and I will try to help with any problems you have

This was already covered awhile ago in the Dream Themes and Wallpapers section.

[Q] How to Fix Boot Animation (stock-root)

Hey all,
So I tried adding a custom boot animation to my phone, and now all I get is a black screen with the stock sound playing.
Basically what I've done was:
Rooted my device using Super SU
Installed Busy Box
(Copied to my external sd card: bootsamsung.qmg bootsamsungloop.qmg)
Did this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2063280
And that's when things went wrong.
I believe, (based off the files used in the tutorial), that the problem may be in/with the following:
/system/bin/bootanimation (exe)
or
/system/bin/samsungani (exe)
or
/system/bin/sh (text file)
I've tried adding the original .qmg files back but it hasn't worked.
I'd like to end up with a custom animation, but at this point I'll be happy with any animation.
Any help would be amazing.

[bootanimation] Video's can now be used as animations - Plus a new custom PS One anim

GOOD NEWS!
You can now use .mp4 video files as your boot animations (if you didn't see it on the portal). You can follow the directions here (you must be rooted for the new method to work):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/xda-university/guide-set-video-bootanimationtesters-t2915445
Also, because I was testing to see if things would work I whipped up a new animation for everyone. Nothing fancy, just a good old timely classic from my childhood. A custom (orginal) Playstation boot screen re-worked with a new 3d logo, etc. etc.
I will be giving directions for the new video method, but I am also uploading files if you want to do it the old way.
PREVIEW:
FLASHABLE ZIPS NOTE:
The first flashable zip replaces ONLY the boot animation in the "/system/media" directory and is the video type. It makes no other changes.
The second flashable zip is intended for Sprint stock based sense roms and is also the video type. The zip not only contains the bootanimation, but also a backup of the original "default.xml" file in "/system/customize/CID" and the original "bootanimation" binary in the "/system/bin" directory. This is in case you would like to go back to the old image sequence based bootanimations.
DIRECTIONS:
VIDEO:
First, download the "bootanimation" binary from the link above. Make a backup of your current "bootanimation" binary in the directory "/system/bin" and then copy the new binary you downloaded into that same directory. Change the permission of the binary file to 0755 and you are done with that.
Next, copy whichever video "bootanimation.zip" file you want into the "/system/media" directory and change the files permissions to 0644 / rw-r-r.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
For Sprint stock users you need to do one more thing. Get a file manager for android and edit the "default.xml" file located in the directory "/system/customize/CID". Open the file to edit and scroll down till you see this sequence:
Code:
<BootConfiguration>
<BootAnimation animation="/system/customize/resource/***whateverbootanimation.zip***" />
and change it to this:
Code:
<BootConfiguration>
<BootAnimation animation="/system/media/bootanimation.zip" />
reboot and enjoy!
Questions, problems, further clarification... I'm happy to help. Just leave a comment.
If you want to use any of the bootanimations I have created, go right ahead. You have permission. All I ask is that you make mention of where you got the animation and that I created it. Pretty simple. :good:
Hold on, shouldn't boot animations be in picture format? Last time I tried flashing an mp4, my boot animation wouldn't play. Now no other boot animations play no matter how I change it. How can this be possible?
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Free mobile app
not working
i use this method not only didnt it work, like an idiot i didnt backup my bootanimation bin file and now i just see a blank screen:crying:

Dasaita - Boot Logo animation format, Dasaita Px5, 4Gb ram Oreo

Hello, does anyone know what format is used for the animated logo of the Dasaita units PX5 android 8 Oreo? There is an option that allows you to load an animated logo but I do not know what format this radio uses. I have tried to place a zip file called bootanimation_dancing_droids.zip from the costum file selector, but it does not recognize it. There is some specific file format that this unit uses for the animated logos?.

You can’t use files downloaded from that thread for Custom animation.
You have to be rooted and put bootanimation_dancing_droids.zip in /system/media and chose “Dancing droids…….” in the dropdown menu in Factory settings/Car Logo. Don’t forget to rename or take a copy of original bootanimation_dancing_droids.zip before doing that, if you want to restore original. Reboot and you have a new animation.
I have used all Toyota animations from the thread you mentioned and they are just fine. I’ve created a couple of animations of my own, they are also just fine.
When it comes to Custom animation, I wouldn’t call that animation. You can use jpg files and then a dark shadow will move slowly over the screen, it’s a “cheap” animation imo.
