Is it mine only or the auto brightness is either too bright or too dim?
It is unusable so I always change manually. I am starting to wonder if this problem occurs to anyone else.

Yeah I got that app and had the same problems, ditched it, although the features and concept were really nice.. You would think google would fix their terrible contact photo resolution and implement something like that too..
I am wanting to adjust my brightness on my phone even more than what my settings will let me. I can see the lowest brightness setting really well. ...and for battery saving purposes i want to know if there is any way to get it even lower than that. or anyway to keep the screen from hogging up so much battery.
thanks so much
Depends on the ROM you're using. AOKP and I believe CM10 let you set custom values for backlight levels.

I was also frustrated about this. "Blocking mode" in settings seems to work. Check "Disable LED indicator" and set the time to Always.

I have the new update and haven't had any problems until yesterday but now whenever I open the Internet screen there's a bluish tint now... Has anyone else had this problem and is there a fix?

Make sure background color is not checked in the power saving mode settings.
I did a Odin flash and it's ok now.... I'll take note for background check in the future...

the problem is automatic screen brightness lowers it to where it flickers.

Its a hardware problem. I see it as well sometimes. Not much you can do to fix it, and sending it in to Samsung won't do much either.
