Paid App backup - LG Optimus G Pro

Recently i had to get my phone formatted and was quite worried if i had to register my apps (mainly whats app) again? I lost my number of whats app but it was working fine. And i don't want to provide my changed number to people in what's app. So, on stock unrooted rom it became a trouble for me.
Posted a querry here and came to know i have to get my phone rooted and install titanium backup pro.
Sadly you guys are wrong! Use lg backup and restore (in built in our phones) and it works like a charm! It worked for me and quite nicely! Never imagined it.
Just sharing it for people unknown of this fact

[Q] Backup application data

Anyone know of an application that can backup application data together with market links? (for non-rooted phones)
I know TB can do that and I already use that, but now my worry comes in when SE is releasing an update this week and we aren't sure whether we are able to root after this!
I was thinking the same.. I've backed up using mybackup pro.. backs up app and data.. not sure about market links though, but it's the best non rooted back up I've found..

Thanks for the reply.
I've used Mybackup Pro before with my X10, but I it couldn't backup the data unless you provide the "root" access to it and the restoration isn't as good as TB when it comes to rooted phone.
The biggest question here is that when the update is delivered, will we be able to root again using the Gingerbreak? If yes, then I've no problem sticking with TB, but if not then my worries start
I for one am not going to update until i know the new version can be rooted.
Other than that, i can second the recommendation to use mybackup pro. It's not a titanium replacement by any means, but it gets the essentials (sms, calendar, etc etc) done perfectly well (in fact i use it for this sort of thing in preference to TB anyway).

Yep. Agreed.
But here I'm looking at something which can backup the data of the application as well without a rooted phone and restore it in a non-rooted phone.
Any suggestion?
sounds like this needs root to work then..

Disappointed.
Most of the phones out there (Android excluded) can do this. The best example is iPhone; thought I don't like it, I like this feature. That's the whole idea for us to connect to the PC every now and then. I don't know how hard it is for the phone makers to come up with something like this to backup the whole phone, including apps and their data; while they have access to everything since they are the manufacture of the phone.
Every now and then, surely there will be software updates and they will wipe the data. We have to setup it up from scratch and it takes a long time for that and more or less you will loss the application's data; unless you are rooted and use TB to backup; provided the "root" is still available for that software update.
Previously I tried a simple application for backing up the data of the famous game "Angry Birds". This app requires no "root", but does the job pretty well. Now when a third party application can do that means surely the phone maker should be able to do more than that!!
sprite backup is what i used before titanium backup. no need for root, but it stores everything in batch backups...

Does that application have a option to backup application (from market) together with it's data? Am I able to choose which application to backup/restore? Classic example is backup "Angry Birds" with it's completed levels and it's settings.
After the update my phone has become quite slow and freezes at times for 1-2 seconds. I would like to do a factory reset to see whether it can solve the problem but only thing stopping me from doing that is I couldn't find a software (be it a PC based software or and Phone application) that could backup my phone's application together with their data!
Any more advises or help?

Restore MyBackup Pro backups

Hi.
I come from an HTC Desire and I have some backups that I made with MyBackup Pro of some app's data. Relevant data like some games progresses, Libra's database, etc. MyBackupPro has an online backup and I backed the data online on the HTC Desire and tried to restore it in the Galaxy Nexus. The Galaxy Nexus recognizes the backup, shows the apps that are backed up, but when I press Restore it says that I should reboot the device and that the restore was OK almost instantaneously. Nothing is restored, no data is transferred to the phone..
Is there any other way to migrate this kind of data? Shouldn't MyBackup Pro be working on the Galaxy Nexus?
Thanks in advance
Anyone?
Maybe the app needs an update for ICS? Try to check their site to see if there's a reported problem, that's most likely the case.
Should have gone with Titanium Backup. I never had much luck with MyBackup anyway. Titanium is rock star on ICS.
The only problem Ive had so far has been restoring SMS with Pro.
Even with busy box installed its suuuper slow at the moment.
I sent them an email, I'll wait for an answer.. But I guess it is due to incompatibilities with ICS too..
AmesCell, I have always used MyBackup while using the Desire, never had a problem. Anyway, I still have the Desire and can use Titanium, but my Galaxy Nexus isn't rooted, and Titanium needs root.

Your signature says your Desire is rooted. Rooting the GN is easy. I go through 4 phones a year. I couldn't imagine doing that without Titanium.
Yes, the Desire is rooted, but I wasn't planning on rooting the GN so soon. I just got it 2 days ago and I want to see how this goes without any "hacks"..
I wouldn't have rooted the Desire in the first place if it wasn't for the lack of updates, etc... That's the main reason I bought the GN, having a more official support. Let's see, I'm almost sure that I'll root it in the future, but I don't want to do it right now.. I'll just wait for the Rerware answer to my email and see how it goes.
Thanks
Any update?
Rerware already answered, but no updates. Although I think I know what the problem is. I am only backup up app's Data, because they are already installed in the GN. But this is a "root only" feature and, for what I understood, non-rooted devices cannot restore this kind of backup, only APK backups. I asked this to the guys at Rerware to see if there is a workaround.
When I have news I'll post them here.

restoring your data/sms/backups is a "hack"
Hi,
Did you manage to find a solution to this problem? My phone is rooted and it still doesnt restore anything. Just like you said it finds the backup but then when you select the arrow next to apps to tick which ones you want to restore nothing is shown..
I need this to restore my game saves, spotify offline music etc
This happened to me with my sensation before. Somehow the backup got corrupted to I deleted it and started from scratch. Sorry to hear this happened to you it seriously sucks losing akk that stuff. What I've been doing is using from manager to restore my data partition and I've never had any issues SO FAR.
Enable advanced options, click restore and restore backup and only select the data.

I managed to solve the problem......
First my story:
I decided to install new ROM on my phone....i backed up apps and data with My Backup Pro (i bought the app)
My phone is rooted of course.
So i installed the new ROM and then i installed the My Backup Pro and started to restoring apps but i didn't get the app/data/app+data popup
and of course i couldn't restore my data from apps. i got really frustrated and browsed the web and couldn't find anything.
I started everything from the begining uninstalled all apps and figured it out that i did something wrong....and that is this that My Backup Pro doesn't work as it should without busy box...u have to install Busy Box before installing the My Backup Pro!
Follow this tutorial in order to restore your apps + data
Backing up apps on android (rooted) after installing new ROM
With My backup pro application
1. Backup apps + data
2. Backup dictionary
3. Backup all other data you want to
Install new ROM and then start restoring by this order
1. first install busy boxes i found there are two (BusyBox and BusyBox installer on the google store. install both)
2. install My backup pro and when asked to install additional options for rooted phone choose yes (now you should be able to choose between app/data/app+data to restore)
3. restore apps + data
4. thats it...enjoy!
It worked for me!! :good:

What's the best backup app?

As much as I love the Note 3 it has problems with backup apps. I haven't got Titanium Backup to work successfully. Now it won't even let me install it, it says not enough space. I just used Rom Toolbox, flashed a rom and restored and it and only some apps restored and no data restored. So what are people using successfully?
I use titanium Backup Pro 6.1.5.2 and I run the tb fixer app after each restore and I have no problems.
Edit: so you're aware, in still on 4.3 I've been doing this this way since i got my phone in January, but this works fine for me.
I'm on TMo KitKat and TB works fine for me. Always has. There was a time when I had to use the fixer app but that isn't an issue anymore. I have tried Helium Backup and it's ok, but it still doesn't touch TB imo. I believe Helium doesn't require root either.

I uninstalled TB so I could reinstall it and see if it would work. But now all I get is an error saying that there is "insufficient storage available", any idea how to fix that? Thanks.

That's an old TB issue but to fix it is simple:
1- Use any file explorer like Root Explorer or ES File Explorer, etc.
2- go to /data/app,
3- find and delete "com.kermidas.TitaniumBackup-1.odex".
Used TB since I got the phone. Now on Stock rooted 4.4.2 still works fine. I backup to the external SDcard which gets copied one of my servers at home every Sunday as an archive backup. Pictures, videos that might be on the phone, and other stuff is stored on the External as well.
Using current version as updated by Play market as updates come out.
Titanium backup is the king when it comes to backup, constantly supported and updated. Nothing competes with it imho, cloud backup is junk.

Mybackup Pro is a nice one too
I use TB all the time on my Note 3 and haven't had any problems. After a fresh install, I've also restored apps via Nandroid Manager Pro from a recent nandroid which saved me the trouble of going through and selecting or deselecting apps that I don't need installed but want a backup of. The process took a really long time but was pretty much automated. That will probably be my preferred method after a fresh flash, assuming that I have a recent enough nandroid.
Not a fan of My Backup Pro. Can you say DRM that prevents use by paying customers?... I bought the app on my Note 3 and installed it there and on my Note 8. It worked fine on the tablet, but on my Note 3, kept giving me an "invalid license" message. I tried all kinds of things: reinstall after wiping Dalvik / cache, running a few junk cleaner apps, but no love. Dev seemed like kind of a hard-ass when I emailed him for a refund, but got my money back after a few emails.
Anyways, yeah. What I said before.
Ok gonna try TB, has good feedbacks

Titanium Backup has worked flawlessly for me for many years, on HTC G2, SGS2, and now Note 3.
I just straight up use the app backup that es file explorer has built in to it. TB for me had many problems, ROM toolbox as mentioned actually only backed up/restored certain apps for me, but es has not failed me once since ice cream sandwich. As long as you keep your backups fresh...

Just back-up using TWRP

Titanium backup - does it work on your rooted G4?

So, I can't get Helium to work on my G4.
Has anyone tested Titanium Backup on their rooted G4, and can you confirm whether it backs up AND restores successfully?
I can confirm that it does work w/o problems - but first I installed TWRP manager and it asked me to if I want to do some "hack/trick" with writing permissions. I guess that you didnt do it.
TI works fine with my unlocked/rooted/TWRP G4
Helium didnt work for me either (unrooted/locked G4), I ended up using LGbackup when migrating from my GPad 8.3

Thanks! Just working out whether to keep the phone – if both Helium and Titanium didn't work, that'd be a dealbreaker for me. Glad to hear that Titanium at least works. I'm not rooted... I'm on a UK 02 H815 which LG unlocker reports as "not found suffix". Grrrr.

Android ID Backup / Restore Pixel XL Oreo

Ok folks, I've been googling for a while now and can't get a straight simple answer. I have an app, MoviePass, that once installed links to your Android ID and won't allow you to change but once per month. I didn't know this until already changing it once, so now I can't flash anything for another 30 damn days or the app won't work. Here's my question: How do I backup and then restore my Android ID? And before you answer , it has apparently changed in Oreo. I found a ton of posts showing how to do it with titanium Backup, but that method apparently no longer works in Oreo because of the changes made in how the Android ID is stored per app now or something. So please does anyone have a PROVEN method that you know 100% works that I can try ? I don't wanna downgrade to Nougat just to be able to do this lol. This app is holding me up from flashing awesomeness!
Stuck in the same boat.. I have to do a backup, then restore my old rom to use movie pass and then restore my backup. It's super annoying but at least it works. Hope there is a way to fix this for us who flash often

I actually managed to get it working. I have Titanium Backup Pro, not sure if you need that version or the free one, but I did a full backup of the app and then restored the app after flashing a new ROM and downloading Titanium Backup. The app restored, and MoviePass didn't give me any problems.

I've tried with titanium backup but it didn't work. I went from andoid N to O and my phone says it's a pixel XL (I have axon 7) so that may have something to do with it..?
Edit: So I just tried again and it worked! Thanks

No problem! Yeah they changed the way Android ID worked and how it is associated with applications in O versus previous versions of Android. Glad it worked !
If you want to restore the Android id of a previous version on the same phone then you have to just Backup "Settings storage" and then restore it.
