[Q] Can't find the black text called menus in my theme - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I'm trying to build a theme for 4.4.2 using jedi elite as a base. My problem is I end up having a lot of menus that have black background but the text is black also.
I've been searching through framework-res.apk and systemui.apk and have come up with basically nothing.
If someone could help me out here that would be great.
I've attached a screenshot to show what I'm talking about. It's basically any time I hit menu the background is black but then the text is black. The weird thing is, a lot of the other areas that have text are colored but certain ones aren't.

Nothing is where it belongs lol. I would pm a themer and ask. They are very helpful.
TWEAKED N3

I found the files I was looking for.
Hard to say exactly which ones. But instead of looking for ff000000 I found some xmls that referenced
Code:
@color/foreground_dark_inverse
Or something along those lines.

{Request} metamorph color notifications for status bar??

I remember long ago a couple of themes coming out with colored notifications (ex. Green txt msg icon, red gmail envelope, etc).....was wondering if anybody knew of a theme that had them or maybe a metamorph somewhere.....really wanna get em on my g1. Thanks
Sent from my HTC Dream using XDA App
You can download Ninjamorph from market and do these sorts of things yourself by changing the stat_notify icon in drawable mdpi folder. The reason I'm telling you this is your always going to like the icon here or there or this piece of that theme I was the same way nobody is going to assemble it the way you like not perfect anyway so best thing is mix and match apps from different Metamorphs then Ninja what you couldn't find to your taste. If all this is too intimidating PM and I'll give you the one's I have.
Yea that's what I've been doing as far as mix n match metamorphs but couldn't find the colored notifications. Will try ninjamorph though, appreciate it.

[Q] Notification Bar color change.

I'm looking for an easy way to change the background color of the notification. I do NOT want to change any icons, notifications, fonts, pulldown menu or anything else. I downloaded a theme that I like other than the notification bar color which makes it difficult to read some icons. Also a focus on the easy way is perfered and I'm not into modification that requires me to edit .zip files.
Thanks in advance for the help.

That's what theme I've got now and I like it other than the Notification Bar color and pattern, should be black or transparent.
While you are in there changing the color of the Notification Bar wanna change another thing while in there? The status bar is green, like when changing volume, loading web sites, downloading progress, ect..., and previously I had a theme that had those blue.

so you want dog gone blues to have a trans or black taskbar & to fix the progress bars to be blue again??? if thats all ill have that done in a couple hrs or less... i could do it faster but im in the middle of makin a requested theme
Yep, that's what I'm lookin for.
Thanks for doing that for me. I haven't gotten that far into MODing my Epic where I make changes or even start from scratch on making themes or other modifications. I got the Samsung Epic days after my son was born so to sit down on a PC and work on this kinda stuff is difficult. I will get into it more probably once the Epic Touch comes out as my son will be old enough to entertain himself while I do this kinda stuff myself.
Thanks again.

ok cool but for what theme... lol pd ani's hafta be themed to whatever theme it will be used for bc the add on itself is only available in stock froyo or gb
unless the theme your using has it baked in then all i gotta do is pull the images from the 1 theme change em white & put em on the other theme, instead of completely re-theming the pd ani add on to what theme your on & all the above
both dont take that long changing the animation's images takes the longest i just need to kno where to start
The same one you made me the last one from but with the honeycomb animation in white. I can post a link for whatever you need ie the blue pulldown ani or the one you made me for th White Shadow theme

Thanks, looks exactly like what I was asking for. Its greatly appreciated that you could do those changes, esp in such a short turn around time.
But... (of course there is always a but) some other things.
Can you get rid of that blue checkerboard pattern that you got rid of in the Notification Bar through out the entire Theme? Messing around with it I noticed that it has that pattern in the apps if you bring up the menu. Really just anywhere that checkerboard blue/black pattern is can just go away as it is annoying and ugly.
Another thing, when in the menu of the Browser and Calendar, if More is selected the background color is dark navy blue and the short cut font color is a real dark grey meaning you can not read it since they are so close in color. So far I have only noticed it in the Browser and Calendar app but guessin that its also elsewhere that I have not came across yet. Can you fix that? Just make it blue instead of navy blue or black or whatever you think would look good.
Last few things, just take out that Shutdown animation as I use the Helix Boot and Shutdown animations. Also remove the font that comes with it so it does not install a new one. Last remove the Calculator app as it has that ugly checkerboard blue/black pattern in it also. All these last things to remove are easy fixes for me to just install over them so not as big of deal but while in there modifying the .zip I thought I would ask.
Thats all I've got. I know its a lot but if ya get to it great, if not I understand, no hurry if you do.
Thanks again for doing what I asked for the first time, and so quickly, but we are all the same, we want our phones just the right way. Then after we get it there we either get sick of it or we jack something up and decided to start from scratch again. Its never ending...
Greenmuggy,
Another thing on a seperate subject. A while ago I made a post asking about this but no one was able to help me. I'm wondering about the Stock Calendar App, really its the Fascinate Stock Calendar App as I like the way it shows upcoming events without entering each date like the Epic Stock Calendar App, if there is a way to add "Saturday" to the First Day of Week setting. It has Sunday and Monday as current options but my actual work week starts on Saturday which is not an option. Just wondering if you had seen way to add this to the Fascinate Stock Calendar App. Its just another one of those minor annoyances that are out there.

[Q] Can someone please finish this red AOKP theme for me?

I'm pretty certain this is all it needs to be complete, but am unable to do this since i have a mac and no idea how to do it. Got these instructions from Big Goron (thanks to you sir):
Decompile the framework-res.apk edit the values/colors.xml edit the background_holo_blue_light=#ff33b5e5 to a red hex value (try #CD0000 or #DC143C or some other good, solid red that's closer to the other reds in the theme).
here's the theme that needs it done - http://minus.com/mm6psz0Db#4o (make sure you get the file called TEST1rednblack.zip)
Once it's done just post a link or whatever. i'll test it out if you don't want to. Thanks to whoever does it
as of now, the theme is fully functional, just not fully red. but if you don't mind a red/blue theme, you might actually like it as is.
If you get the itch to port over another AOKP theme or two, check these out - http://rootzwiki.com/topic/14710-th...black-theme-31112/page__p__383768#entry383768
I tried just editing that value on my attempt at a purple theme and there is still a lot of blues left. The selection boxes, divider lines and a few other things remain blue. Hopefully someone can help us both.
Damn. Ok thanks for the heads up. Figured it couldn't be as simple as it sounded.

[HELP] Phone.apk theme question

Hi everyone. I'm trying to theme the dialer to match the contacts and MMS apps. But I'm having trouble modding some of the text. In the dialer, when i press the numbers, the number shows as white text (which blends in with the white background). Also, the white text appears in the Frequently Contacted section of the phone app as well. Please see the attached images.
Can anyone tell me which XML values do i need to edit to make the text appear dark (like ff000000)?
I've tried searching throughout the forums but couldn't find anything. Any tips would be greatly appreciated thanks!!!

Hey, I'm at work right now so don't have much time but I'll get in touch with you when I get off. As far as the background it's different for the rom I'm using(Wicked) because he's calling on his own image for that background which is named evil.png. There is one in the contacts app and the dialer app. I know the voice mail icon is stretched. It's an icon I pulled from your contacts theme but didn't have time to resize it. That screen shot was all I was able to manage in the 45 minutes I had to spend on it. I'm going to open up a stock rom and see if I can't help you figure out the white background issue. I'll send you a pm when I get off of work to see if your around and hopefully we can get this solved. If you need someone to help you manage the T-Mobile version I'd be more than happy to, with all credit going to you of course. I know how hard it can be to get a theme to be compatible across several devices. Totally your call. Talk to you soon.

Thanks, no I will credit YOU in my thread update if you solve this, if we can find what is causing it, I simply include it to my next update, that means if you find the location of the white causing png, then I simply theme it to dark and it should overwrite it with the users experiencing problems. And yeah I was thinking maybe it is in calling apk itself, thou it wont make any sense that users with the problem dont have white background and then flashing my SecContacts.apk causes them to have a white background even there is no png's there to cause this, and morhphing do not overwrite non themed png's whats already inside apk, so this is a headache big time. Once it's solved, I will theme the rest of the icons, like onehands dialer icons, solved the missing "1" button dialer problem with some users already.

The bg for the contacts in the US versions is controlled in xmls. The names of the xmls are dialpad_fragment_xxx.xml found in the SecContacts\res\layout-sw359dp-xxhdpi folder. There's going to be a few of them, each carrier has there own. I would suggest just doing all of them. The bg will be in the first line and if you go down a few lines you'll also find the line to change the text color of the input numbers (the numbers when dialing). You'll want to change those too since by default I think they're black. If you want you're custom bg to show from the framework, then you'll want to change the alpha of the bg to 00.

So it is... but how do you explain that before they flash my SecContacts.apk, they have black bg? but yet so far no xml's are in my themed SecContacts.apk or anything that would change the bg color, only png files, nothing more yet. What changes the bg color when original xml's and rest of the non themed png's remain inside original apk and only the png's I themed are being replaced.

Because the international contacts is different then ours. If US users flash your theme over other roms or themes that already have it black or any other color, then they would also not see the white bg, but if they flash this zip which is a vrtheme and only contains the pngs on a unthemed rom, then they will have the white bg.
For example - If users flash this zip over wicked, they will see the bg that the rom uses since the bg and the xml are changed in that rom. And if someone was to flash this over my theme which has our contacts inverted, then they also wouldn't see any white.

So it is... but how do you explain that before they flash my SecContacts.apk, they have black bg? but yet so far no xml's are in my themed SecContacts.apk or anything that would change the bg color, only png files, nothing more yet. What changes the bg color when original xml's and rest of the non themed png's remain inside original apk and only the png's I themed are being replaced.

Not sure what all you know but if you need help with the xml edits I'd be more than happy to help and not trying to speak for him but foreverloco is a beast when it comes to themes and in my experience is always the first to lend a hand if you have questions.

What I just learned is that users experiencing white BG is simply because them contacts app is "light" not "dark" therefor my unthemed "tw_background_holo_light.png" from framework-res "drawable-nodpi and drawable-sw360dp-xxhdpi" keeps them app white, but users with "dark" SecContacs.apk have everything ok, because the SecContacts chooses the dark wallpaper. but the problem is that most likely light app have black text, in this case SecContacts, so font color needs to be edited from xml to be black, and searchbox in contacts also, I don't know yet if searchbox there is png or is it controlled from XML.
Well would ya look at that, guess I'm late to the party! Here I thought I was the only one looking for that illusive white incall dialer screen when you pull up the dial pad. (Say that three times fast!)

Just one screenshot and I can fix it, its only one of those darn white buttons still left haunting there, easy as 1 2 3 to fix. And ofcourse your Secphone.apk.
