DashClock. How to make it my default lock screen? - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to thank everyone on here for the replies over the last two days on my other questions.
One thing I want is to get DashClock as the default lock screen, but I can only get it to the "screen on the right of my normal launch screen" and am unable to delete the default lock screen and make DashClock take over the "one on the left" that is the default.
Has anyone gotten DashClock to work properly with the new HTC One, and if so, please tell me how.
Thank you all,

I haven't been able to figure out how to get a different widget on the "main" homescreen, either. I was able to swipe to the left (to go right) and place a widget on that homescreen, but no way to change the default that I can see.

Not sure I understand your issue. You can remove the default widget(s) on the device by simply pressing and holding, then dragging them off the screen. You can also modify the home screens in Settings --> Personalize --> Manage Home Screen Pages. You can switch which screen is "home" and even remove a whole screen.
As far as adding apps/widgets/homescreens, just press and hold a blank space on the screen and utilize the dropdown menu.
I have Dashclock running just fine on my M8, and use it for Daydream. Only issue I don't like is that to get it to Daydream horizontally, I have to start Daydream manually with the phone horizontal. Wish it would autosense that.

Like everyone else is stating, we can add DashClock to the right, move, edit and remove the DashClock lock widget screen, but it is always to the right of the "home lock screen" thus if I want to see it I need to swipe from the very top of the lock screen to see what is to the right of it.
The "home lock screen" is unable to be "removed' since the "remove" button is greyed out for that, I can only "edit". When I want to remove or edit the DashClock lock screen both the "edit" and "remove" are available, but not on the default lock screen widget.
No one else has bene able to get DashClock on the main lock screen because I can't drag DashClock to the left, and I can't drag the home screen lock widget to the right, even though I can see both when I have DashClock "held down" to move, it just won't go to the left of the defaul "home lock screen" to then make DashClock the default view.

To tell the truth, I haven't figured out how to add widgets to the lockscreen..... I use a PIN anyway so not sure it would make a difference.

Go to Settings > Security > Enable Lock Screen Widget.
Full details...

Doesn't work you can't move or remove the main lock screen. I can edit and move and lock screens I add to the right, but not the default main one.

Any update?
Don't suppose anyone have found a solution to this?
Id would be nice to at least be able to add another widget under the stock lockscreen clock widget.

Not for dash clock but for Nils you can use the floating widget and it works fine

So has anyone figured a way to remove the crappy default lock screen widget? I don't get why anyone would want to use this ****ty one when Dashclock is far superiour.
I still can't remove the main widget OR get the Dashclock to become the main widget "on the left".
Anyone?

Well I bit the bullet and bought "Widget Locker" just so I could get a proper lock screen. Bull**** I have to pay $2.99 to get my lock screen up.

You normally have to go to Settings>Security and allow widgets first, then you can add a new one and delete the original (at least that's how you do it on the Nexus 5)

Eddy, thank you for the reply but clearly you haven't read a single thing on this thread. Anyone can add as many widgets as they want, but they can't delete the default one on the home screen, so we are stuck with it because the "remove" is greyed out for the default. I can have DashClock widget to the right of my main one, but that does no one any good.
It is impossible to remove the default widget, or move it to a position where it is not the default. The only way to get DashClock widget properly installed on this ever increasingly ****ty phone is to pay $2.99 for a program to unlock it.

Chill, dude - I had read it, just missed the bit about the stock one being greyed out, just thought you were having issues making the new one the 'home' one! Surprised HTC have done that, kinda sucks as I prefer to have Chronus as my lockscreen widget of choice...

this is the product of the f***ing Standard clock on the 1st Lockscreen page. You cannot delete it, you cannot move it to 2nd Screen, so to have a e.g. nice Dashclock, you always have to Swipe right or left.
Dirty solution atm for me is NiLS with Floating Panel on stock lockscreen. I would use the AOSP lockscreen with Dashclock (running ViperOne), but it's lacking off DoubleTap2Wake function. And after 1 week, it's a thing Icannot live without anymore

AOSP Lock Screen
I haven't tried this yet on my M8 so YMMV, but it worked for getting the AOSP lock screen on my Sense M7...requires root...

Obviously not tried this with beautiful widgets. Their widgets do not show up in app draw. Only way to get them to work is 'long-pressing' home screen, which we know doesn't give a widget option in ICS.
As far as I'm aware, you would need a custom launcher which has long-press home screen for widgets option. Not worth it imo. I uninstalled my BeautifulWidgets App within 10 minutes of paying 10p for it yesterday, not wasting that kind of money!

What are you talking about? You use beautiful widgets just like any other widget. Did you happen to look at all the widgets that started with the word beautiful in the app drawer? I'm using it now and its super easy

You sometimes have to reboot for widgets to appear in the app drawer... You guys really take this stuff personally LMFAO
Thanks for calling tech support, have you tried turning it off and on again?
Lol, about half the widgets I've downloaded required a reboot to show up in the app drawer...when something doesn't work right, reboot.
A question, when I go in my widget setting to try and change it as I want to change something, I go into settings -> general and it force closes on me, I'm trying to get the black squares to disappear for the Ice Cream Sandwich Super Clock skin by a person named Tama-Chan.
If you can't do it using the app, is there any way to edit a current skin? I just want to remove the black squares and change the font to Roboto to match the ICS font? Any guidance would be much appreciated!

There was an update this morning that mentioned ics compatibility so maybe you can now edit preferences for a widget properly or you could try this:
I did it by removing and re-adding the widget. When you re-add it you get a dialogue asking you what settings you want to use which works.

Prevent phone from adding shortcuts after install

Hey guys,
As the title says I am looking for a way to disable that stupid function when you install an app there will be automatically a shortcut added to the desktop.
Didn't find any solution for that, even using different launcher and no sense launcher.
It really ****s up my beautiful desktop screens.
Thanks in advance.

you can also just long press and drag the widget up to where it says "remove" at the top of the screen. i prefer downloading the widget and then deciding if i want it visible or not.

thanks for the clarification. as i said, i prefer deciding whether it should be visible or not, rather than having them all not visible (and maybe having to hunt for it).
I normally use a blank page for this: First navigate to that page, then install the applications.
Now this page has all applications I have to try out.
It's some sort of todo page.

Swipe from lock screen opens camera

About half the time, when I swipe the lock screen to unlock, the camera app opens. This is annoying. Is this a bug, or is it a feature? Does anybody know a way to turn it off? I can't find anything in settings that seems to do it.
It is a lock screen widget.
You get this by swiping from the right bezel across to the left bezel when on the lock screen.
The default is the camera.
To remove:
swipe from left bezel to the right bezel
press 'Tap to add widgets'
un-tick Camera (top left icon)

For me, swiping from left to right either unlocks the tablet or will cause the time indication to scroll across the screen. It never brings up a "Tap to add widgets" option. Does that work differently for you?
If I disable the camera, and have no other lock widgets selected, then the swipe from bezel to bezel (in either direction) just (slighty) rotates the large digital clock
So, how do you get to the option to disable the camera widget?

Once again, when I swipe bezel-to-bezel or otherwise, I never get a "Tap to add widgets" icon. If I touch the clock, I get a large empty rectangle at the bottom of the screen. Not sure how to get the "Tap" option.
All my notes above were for portrait mode.
Try it in landscape mode. Just swipe left to right on the clock.

woody1 , i used to have the same issue .
when u are at the lock screen , keep swiping from left to right on the clock widget, u will eventually reach the "add" button , u can remove the camera from there.
interestingly, what i did to resolve the camera widget popping out issue, is remove all the clock widgets ,except one, on the lock screen ... without having to remove the camera widget itself. furthermore more , it seemed to resolve the weird slow downs i was experiencing. on the lock screen after wake up.
i dont know what caused these multiple clock widgets to appear ,but removing them solved it for me. i am pretty sure it is a bug
That did the trick! I'm surprised that nobody else has commented on this problem. Thanks much for your help!

Yes, it's a tricky thing. I switched to Nova Launcher a while back. I wonder if changing the launcher might have caused the multiple clocks?

Possible, but i had the multiple clocks before i installed Google Now Launcher. Still debating if i should just throw Nova on like in my Optimus G ...
i don't. think it is an alternative launcher issue , in my case , i only used the stock lg one .
in my case i had ALOT of clock widgets (i was maxed out on the possible amout of widgets on the lock screen ).
at first i thought it was a used unit issue , where somebody messed around with the tablet before repackaging it, but then i noticed a pattern where ,when i was waking up the tablet,it would slow down abit . then i would check the lockscreen and saw that a new widget was generated.
so i assume it is either a lockscreen app issue or a waking up the tablet one.
my question to both of you gentlemen is :
-which lock screen are u using (slide, pattern , etc ) ?
- are. you using a smart cover/case (you know the one that automatically wakes up the tablet when u open the cover ) ?
becoz disabeling the smart cover also seemed to stop the issue in my case

To answer your questions, I'm using the default swipe to unlock and I've never used a smart cover. I don't know when the multiple clocks appeared. They don't seem to have come back since I deleted them a few days ago.

How to add more home screens?

Does anyone know how to add more home screens? I have my M8 converted to full GPe and I don't see an option to add more home screens. I checked in settings/display and no option is there.
If memory serves me correctly, try taking an app from the drawer, hold it, and then when it goes to the homescreen, hold it to the left or right edge of the screen as if there were another page there. I think it automatically creates one if you have an app that your holding.

With Google Play Edittion you can have many home screens.
With Sense you can only have max 6 (including blinkfeed). Is there any way to increase to say 9 home screens. Do any custom roms have this option?

If you want that many home screens you could always use a custom launcher like Nova. And although you can't have Blinkfeed as one of the screens there is a pretty easy workaround to make it accessible from any of the home screens.
Either add a shortcut (Activity) on a screen to the HTC Launcher after deleting all but the Blinkfeed page, or even more convenient, set the Activity as a gesture launch action.

There is an Xposed module that allows you to add most widgets to your lockscreen. It's called the "Samsung Multiple Widget" module. It also adds back the 'swipe right for camera' option. Thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2363189
Edit: The thread above is the original thread, but the Dev is no longer working on it, so another user picked up where he left off. Thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/app-samsungmultiplewidgets-kitkat-t2690190
Also, you might want to install the "Notification Mod" as well to get notifications on Touchwiz if you are using a secured lock screen. The way Samsung stopped allowing us to access the notifications when there is a pin/pattern is very annoying.
Let me know if you need any help getting either of those installed (but it's pretty self-explanatory).

Thanks for the reply man.
So I get all that but what i am trying to accomplish is to allow ANY widget to be allowed to be on the lock screen. For example HD widgets official lock screen widgets only has the Glass Gems packages. If I was able to "trick" the system into thinking I was just adding a widget to a home screen, not the lock screen, I would have many more options as to what I can add. Not as concerned about the number of widgets allowed. I was able to do this on the note 2 with some mod, but I don't remember what it was called.

I wish I could be more helpful. I don't use HD widgets, so I can't test it and see what works. But from looking at the cloud.tv FAQ, it looks like you should be able to get other themes/packages working on the lockscreen. This is what it says:
I can only see the Glass Gems style widgets in my Widget menu. Where are the other themes?
New themes are installed automatically and available for you to use in the app as soon as you've downloaded them from the Play Store. However, you won’t see the new theme style widgets in your Widget menu. The Glass Gems style widget that you see in your widget menu are just examples for each of the widget sizes. Once you've selected a widget size, you’ll be able to switch between themes from inside the app.
How do I change themes after I've picked a widget size?
After you've selected a widget size, tap on the theme name in the top right corner of the configure screen and to reveal the drop down menu. Then tap the theme you'd like to use.
Select new widget themes from the drop down menu (See screenshot below)
Also,
How do I add & remove lock screen widgets?
Deleting lockscreen widgets is really easy. Simply long press on the widget and drag to Remove.
How you'll add lockscreen widgets will differ slightly depending on your device.
For non HTC and Samsung devices:
When viewing your lockscreen swipe left to right starting with the clock until you see the add (+) button.
For most Samsung devices including Galaxy S3 and S4:
First enable lockscreen widgets in your device Settings. Go to Settings, then Lock Screen and check the box to enable Multiple Widgets. Then, when viewing your lock screen, swipe left to right until you see the add (+) button.
Note: Samsung have disabled lock screen widgets with pin or password. If you are using a secure lock screen setting, you won’t be able to use lock screen widgets.
The last part is true only if you don't use the Xposed mod that I posted earlier.
So, it looks like even though you will only see the glass gems widgets, you can still select the different theme/package you want after you have selected the widget size. I hope that helps. And if you already know all this stuff then I apologize.
Is there any way to automatically HIDE the PIN screen? It cut off the widgets, like DashClock. I have to swipe down, look at the widget, then swipe up to bring the pin screen back.

Click to collapse
No, not without disabling it. And for the former try xlocky plugin for xposed, that may allow to use the widgets you want
