Which one will u be getting? 7 or 7a? - Oppo Find 7 and 7a

So I really can't decide between which to get. 2560X1600 sure sounds good, but I'm worried about performance, especially in games. And 7a is downgrade version. What version will you guys be getting and why? So I can hopefully make up my mind too lol.

I want the full spec one of course, I don't play graphics intensive games on phone so I don't really care with gaming performance, but I do worry about the battery life, I will wait for reviews first.

Full reviews on both before I decide, but 7 is what I want at the moment!
Sent from my g2 using Tapatalk

Full spec all the way. Game on PC or Telly, more real estate. Casual games will run fine

7a is going to be my preference. I want my battery life! It's not just going to be gaming that the resolution with have a negative effect on - EVERYTHING will require the GPU/CPU/display subsystem to push more pixels. The Find7 will either have the same GPU or only a slight clock boost.
Look at what happened when the iPad went retina - they needed 4x the GPU cores and had to make the battery 50% larger to get the same life, which made it heavier and also made it take 50% longer to recharge.

I'm definitely getting the premium one

I'll be getting 7a version, i don't really care about that high pixel density, and i'm also not worried about anything it lacks over premium version, and pre-order are going to start 7 of April, 2 months earlier than premium version.

Is battery life such an issue when the device can (reportedly) charge 75% in half an hour?

Unless the phone is chewing more than 150% of it's battery p/h, there will be no need, given the stated charging rate of 75% in half hour.

I think I'll have the 7a for the reasons enumerated by both Entrepoy512 and ireun.
But LG G Pro 2 and OnePlus are really tempting as well.

I would get the Find 7a, but it's hardly an improvement over my Nexus 5 (at least hard to justify, that is): SoC is basically the same; it has 500mAh more battery but screen is bigger, so I don't think it will have such big a difference in life; camera is better, no doubt, but the 8MP OIS camera of the N5 is quite good and it will soon have an improved app (which is the worst part of it) plus I'm on KitKat, AOSP in all its glory...
The Find 7, though, will be a significant improvement, more modern SoC, more memory, amazing screen and all the better camera and battery (3Ah!!!). I think the Find 7 is a phone I can enjoy and keep for a long time, while the 7a is too small an improvement over the N5, specially at Play Store prices... So, I will wait for the full 7 and then, well, I'd love to upgrade (and maybe ColorOS is already updated to KitKat as well, or CM or someone...

for everyone that wants the 7a, i would recommend waiting to see what the OnePlus One will look like. same specs, same camera lens, screen, etc. They say it will be <$400. If you don't know by now, ex-execs of Oppo started their own smartphone company

I'm thinking the same as you, as I also have a Nexus 5. Getting 7a wouldn't be a proper upgrade. I'm eyeing more the 7 and maybe z2.

Been looking into what i can find out about the OnePlus One. Now i am really tempted as i do like using CM and even with the Colour OS on the Oppo i get the feeling i will find even a little bloatware is still too much for me.

It would be nice if the 7a came with 32gb storage.

I'm getting the 7a for multiple reasons:
1. Cheaper
2. Lower resolution means less rendering strain, this also means longer battery runtime.
3. Internal memory becomes irrelevant with an 128gb sdcard, leaving no reason for me to want the pro version.
The only thing I'm concerned about is whether the lite version will find as much acceptance in the xda / devving community as the pro version.
But due to similar, nearly identical, hardware I really hope that Roms will be fine for both models in the long run.

Getting 7a too, with same reasons as McColbird.. plus its harder to find 2k wallpapers
Im curious with MaxxAudio, has anyone compare it with other phones? I barely read its comparison in current reviews.

@MrColdbird
I want to mention, that the Battery of the 7 is also a little bit stronger...
Do u think its unspectacular and not useful ? Makes it no difference ?
And on the other hand the 2k has a higer pixel per inch number and also a stronger cpu with 3gb ram instead of 2gb.
I only want to hear your opinion because I am not sure about it (7 or 7a)
greets

Just wanting some input... I'm thinking about getting the 7a. Currently I have the Note 3. Do yall think switching from the Note 3 to the 7a is worth it? Why or why not?? Thanks for your input if any...

I think the 200 mAh from the bigger 7 battery will be eaten by the higher processor and the higher resolution of the display.
And you will be able to put the larger battery into the 7a, and everything is fine

Not sure if you should trade in.
The tegra 3 is really starting to get out-dated IMO. In the end it is your decision. So yeah.
Personally i wouldn't do it.
Not sure if it's a "helping" reply but why don't you consider Nexus4 if you want stock Android experience? You'll get the fastest updates and none of the inevitable bugs from porting stock Android to a device that wasn't supposed to have it. Also Google would not abandon it sometime in the future like CM are doing with Exynos devices (if it's true).

I may be way off here.
You should use both phones then make a decision. I totally get that some prefer aosp on certain hardware.

Word. My htc one x screen broke and they told me repair costs 283 euros. Told them to shove it up their ass. 16 euros more and i have a nexus 4. So you should really go for a Nexus 4 if you like CM.
The only problem i have here is the fact that in austria we have no google play store. But hopefully this person i met from germany is trust worthy enough and will send me a nexus 4 once it's out.
Thank u very much guys...i'll skip of buying one x and wait for nexus 4...but here in india we cant buy them through playstore... Lg is going to sell almost double of price here thats what i am fearing about to buy

Personally, I think the One X is better than the Nexus 4. Early benchmarks show that the Nexus has a severely underclocked GPU, and easily overheats, getting throttled even more. The One X also has a better screen IMO.

Yeah... You said it.. early benchmarks.
We've seen how the HoX did before and after certain benchmarks. So there's no reason not to believe that it won't be the same in nexus 4's case.
Then you have multiple pros for the Nexus 4:
Bigger battery (2100 mAh) is nothing remarkable. However, 28nm is more power efficient which would mean we should definitely be experiencing a better battery life in the Nexus 4 than on the One X. Even if stand by times won't be as good, the battery life with screen on is going to be better. (see galaxy s3).
For people that want their phone for regular day to day usage, s4 chip is supposed to be better and faster. (EVEN in gaming it's going to stump the Tegra3)
Google getting hands on quad core - that must actually mean that they will actually do their best to optimize their phone to run quad-core. And since it is google we are talking about i can imagine them doing a great job.
First to get updates (reason enough to go for the Nexus 4 over the one x)
IPS screen (supposed to be among the best)
Really. What more can i say. There's one thing i don't doubt, and that's the fact that the tegra 4 is going to be better battery wise and faster. However, i don't feel like waiting for a tegra 4 device and to top it off, you actually need a manufacturer that makes the best out of it. For people who are not into gaming, they probably won't notice much of a difference. At the pace that google is improving their OS i just can't make up for excuses to stay with other manufacturers.

Well, technically the S4 pro does stump the Tegra 3 in gaming, but Tegra 3 has more optimized games in Play Store so therefore Tegra wins. The SLCD2 is also better than the IPS in some reviews, and the underclocked GPU is also very apparent is some benchmarks.

Is it still worth buying a G3?

Hi, I'm thinking of upgrading my Nexus 4 to LG G3.
I dont want to spend a lot of cash on cell phones, so considering the prices being reduced, is G3 still a good option? The phones looks absolutely amazing.
the G3 is definitely a very good option especially with the really high quality case with the cover that you can usually get bundled with it. Overall very good phone and I highly recommend it.

Not to mention it's one of the cheapest flagships available, and the camera is great. I bought a Nexus 6, but returned it 24 hours later, there are simply too many features that I immediately knew I would miss on my G3, and the G3 screen was light years better.
Love my G3 had it for a few days now and its great plus when more roms dtart to come out i feel itll be perfect ??

Great phone. Get a spare battery and never worry about battery life!
Just picked up the G3 on AT&T a few days ago after dropping and destroying my Nexus 4. So far its been great. Definitely an upgrade in the screen, camera, and battery department. The battery has been amazing so far plus I picked up a spare battery kit so now I'm never plugged into the wall...something I was used to doing on a daily basis with my N4. My only dilemna with this phone is that it's a carrier branded phone and not stock android. Luckily it's rootable thanks to some awesome devs so removing AT&T bloat is not an issue. As for not being stock android, LG's skin is pretty light with some added features that I actual welcome. A few features that have stood out to me so far are the ability to hide the nav buttons on a per app basis(thanks LG), the unintrusive popup for incoming calls, and doubletap2wake and sleep. Coming from someone in the same situation I would say do it.

Absolutely a great buy! I love mine! I recommend it to anyone looking for a skinned Android. The hardware is great in every way. The screen it top quality, the battery is good, the camera is really good, one of the phones with the most RAM, a up to date processor, and really good build quality considering it is plastic. The only one single hardware issue I have with it is the speaker being on the back. Don't get me wrong, it is a really good speaker. But with the speaker being on the back instead of the bottom or front, it can easily get muffled when laying on it's back. Specifically when it i laying on it's back on a soft surface like a bed. But like I said its still a really good speaker for a back speaker. It is just a very well rounded phone.
Amazing battery life, superb laser focus camera, 2k display consistent dev support. Need I say more?
I had samsung s4 s5 sony z2 and z3 and nexus 5 and htc m8 and iphone 6 for me g3 was the best ..camera very good and the screen awesome and the battery not bad it gives me 5 hours sot.. I didnt try n6 so i cant tell you which one is better
Short answer: Yes
Longer yes: Yes, after dealing with the Nokia Lumia 930, 5 or 6 (now I can't remember) defective Xperia Z2, I'm now on the G3. Very good phone. Battery life FAR Superior than the Lumia, and just right below the Z2. Considering it's handling a larger screen and a higher pixel screen, I'd say it's awesome. I am a light user with about 1-2 hours of SOT a day and I go home with 65-70% every day. So it can get me through a day SOOOOO easily! Highly recommended. Camera is great, I have the 32GB/3GB version and I don't have lags. But as I mentioned before, I'm a light user. I only use my phone for pictures, bittorrent sync (folders between desktops and such), and messaging (Line, Whatsapp, Email, Forums). That's it. I know, the device is overkill for my usage, but still! I'm very happy . I'd recommend it over any other phone. The only device I could possibly recommend more is the Nexus 6 or the Note 4. I don't like Samsung's cartoony UI. And the N6 is REALLY expensive! It's 700 euros while the G3 was 450 euros when I got it. So, I can't complain!

Do you own a mobile shop ? Well i think giving one phone out of all the above mentioned, wont make much of a difference to u ..
Does 32 gb make a difference compared to the 16gb, keeping in mind the extra 1gb ram in 32 gb version? Also the quick circle case - is this a must have accessory for G3?
Yeah!! I just bought my g3 two weeks ago, i had a oneplus before i purchased this. It feels similar to the 1+ but with the g3 the screen is better, it has a removable battery, micro sd slot and its cheap compared to some of the other flagships. Id recommend getting it

In the benchmarks the difference is very tiny. My mate has a 16gb version with 2gb and compared to my 32gb, and when youre actually using the phones side by side the different isnt even noticeable. The 16gb is also at least £30 cheaper here in the uk.
...
The phone is awesome! It's as powerful (and beautiful) as phones much more expensive than this. It's a shame that AOSP is not well supported yet, but the power and performance of AOSP can be acheived on LG's own rom if you know how to tweak android, both in performance and looks.
This is the best phone ever and I came from Nexus 5

I believe the biggest difference is when you multitask - redraws on the screen, how many apps can be left open without having to hibernate them (the system of course), wtc.
Regardless, I believe 3GB ram will future-proof it as much as possible. It has a good camera, 3GB of RAM in my version, as well as a nice screen. I think it will be a relevant phone for at least a year or two. But as with everything in the tech world... These things get outdated rather quickly.
If you're worried about buying a device that would last you for years and years (with updates I mean), maybe the Nexus 6 would be best as it will be covered for a WHILE by Google. It's absolutely the most advanced HW (processor, memory, screen) so it will be updated for a while!
If you want a G3 now, get it right now. Thanks to the open sourcing efforts of someone, LG's likely to close down the bootloader exploit in the next couple of days.
Unless you like your freedom restricted, in which case, buy a G3 whenever you want.
A very good buy the only phone in my opinion would be the note 4 to actually consider, with that said it also is the easiest root and boot right now with great support from the developers, hands down top three phone until next summer when we'll be asking each other the same question.
The upgrade from the Nexus 4 to the G3 is worth it in every way. I've had my G3 for several months now and it is a great phone.
Yes
Yes I would definitely recommend this phone for a number of reasons:
Overall screen size
Highest % of front face used by screen
4K display
Battery life (I dont do gaming)
Cannot recommend more highly
However, at the end of the day each phone has its advantages and plus points and drawbacks and you need to align your requirements with these stregnths.

It`s the time of the year to get a new phone.
My options are LG G3 and Nexus 6.
I have been using Moto X until now but the battery in Moto X 2nd Gen seems to be crap and guess i will miss active display and droid is not available in my region
Thanks in advance

I am waiting to see the responses you get. I, too, am thinking of getting a new phone. I am still using the Nexus 4. The LG G3 can be had for quite a bit cheaper (at least on AT&T) right now. It is $480 vs. $650 for the Nexus 6.
Hi, I have both.
G3 a little lag, worst camera
N6 less lag, worst battery, and personally I don't like that much the screen, and way too big

I thought the G3 was supposed to have a pretty good camera? It seems everything I read contradicts something else I've read. The battery life is good, the battery sucks. The screen is amazing, the screens nothing special. There's tons of lag, there isn't really any lag. I don't know what to think.

The G3 has an excellent camera. It rivals the iPhone 6 and beats the iPhone 5s.
I would personally take the G3 over the Nexus 6. The G3 has expandable memory and a removable battery. It's also smaller and lighter and it feels better in your hand. The Nexus 6 is just too big as well. Beyond 5.5" phones become too big IMO.

Thanks everyone for your replies on this.
I don't mean to hijack this thread from OP, but would like opinions if it's ok.
I'm torn between going ahead and buying the G3 at it's current AT&T price of $480 (using Next), or waiting on some of the new models that are coming out. Specifically, the Galaxy S6, the HTC M9, the Flex 2, and finally the Asus Zenfone 2. All of those, with the exception of the Zenfone 2, will be at least $650 I presume, therefore the G3 is quite a bit cheaper. So, I'm not sure if the features of these new devices is worth waiting and paying more, or should I just go ahead and get the G3 now with it's $480 price tag?
Thanks again everyone.
My friend has also asked for my opinion whether he should buy a phone now or wait for the next flagships and my advise is : wait for it. The first few new phones should appear in stores in mid March - April, as Snapdragon 810 appears it might be worthwhile to wait for it as it supports 64bit vs the current 32bit.
Anyway, my opinions for OP's question is to go for the Nexus 6. I currently have a LG G3 and i find that its battery sucks (i came from a HTC Butterfly S and LG G2, im quite a heavy user (games, reddit, whatsapp and calls) and my screen on time at most is only maybe 3 to 3 and a half hours at best, while my Butterfly S was able to reach around 5-6hours vs my LG G2 4-5hours. I find that the 2K screen is not worth the battery life at all, its barely comparable with just a Full HD screen, and the processor cant handle it properly.
Camera is fantastic. HTC Butterfly S's camera utilises Ultrapixels (the same as the HTC One M7 and M8) and the G3 beats it completely. It takes miliseconds to snap a photo.
The LG G3 LAGS. Its not the kind of lag you get when you use a low end phone, its more like...microlags. For example - my LG G2 and LG G3 was at one point both running Resurrection Lollipop Rom, and while the LG G2 was really fast and fluid, the G3 feels different, everything seems slower and abit jaggedy, though its not visible ; more like as a gut feeling. Its more like the processor is struggling to handle the screen resolution itself, and somewhat succeeds though not entirely.
If i were you i would go for the Nexus 6, though the price and expandable storage takes some consideration.

1. Batterylife on the G3 is better then with the Nexus 6
2. Tried the new 20H firmware? No lag for me on that rom and i have many apps running in the background.
Just my 2 cents but i think besides your allready mentioned considerations the G3 is the better device because of the many usefull extra features it offers next to barebone android N6.

1. I somehow doubt it with my usage, Nexus 6 is AMOLED too which saves even more battery than G3's IPS screen.
2. Hmm ill try it now, though currently trying CloudyG3. Its not the number of apps it can run, the lag happens during more of its animations even when theres no apps in the background.
I'd choose G3, the nexus 6 is way big for me. The most important is I like the G3 outlook, it's gorgeous
And what about choosing between Sona Z3 vs HTC M8? Or other alike candidate (Samsung is not an option)?

Considering buying ZF2

Hello there,
I am considering of buying a ZF2 and I have looked around at probably 15 reviews on this phone [emoji14] I don't care about design and such but the guides were saying that the brightness and the camera are a bit bad.
Is the brightness really bad on the ZF2 ? And how does the camera do ?
Sent from my Moto G using Tapatalk
Yup, the brightness are a little bit low at max. But still manage to clearly seen under the sunlight. And the lowest brightness are still too bright it hurt my eyes in dark environments. You may use screen filter app to solve this, and started on .90 fw update, the screen filter already implemented by asus. The camera...well, not too bad at this budget. Still can't compete with other flagship phones. If you are an expert at photography, you may consider buy another phone.

The camera is really bad in my opinion. Every photo I take seems to be grainy or just not all that clear. There are much better options out there. The nexus 6 can be had for $299 now. there are also good deals on the note 4 and other devices that are a year old. The brightness is a bit low, but you'll get use to it. It was a great phone for the money when it launched, but there are better options now. It is a good phone, but not great anymore.
I've always been able to use it the whole day. I usually have 10-20% battery left at night when I plug it in.

Well I wanted to go for the zenfone because of the great specs and such but I'm open to any other 5"-5"5' phones just as long as its around 300€ or so. If anyone else has any other suggestions on what other phone I could buy I'd gladly appreciate it

For the money its a great phone. I love mine! You get what you pay for.
I agree with Bushcrafter. Mine does everything I want, and at less than half the price of comparable handsets.

I am more than satisfied with the performance of mine. I watch a lot of videos on mine and I can't complain. It is very clear and the screen brightness is not as bad as I'd heard. Comparable to my M7. The camera takes decent shots in bright and low light. I have nothing but good thingscto say about the performance of this phone.

I prefer the ZF2 over my Nexus 5. The reports regarding the screen brightness are, while true, exaggerated imho. The camera is worse than the Nexus 5's but I don't care about the camera anyway.

I noticed OP posted the price in Euros, I assume he's European, so the median price of a Nexus 6 device in Europe right now is more than 450 to 500 euros at some cases, whereas the ZF2 can be found at 50 or 100 euro cheaper than the Nexus6
For the specs it has, I'd say it's a good offer

Yeah the Nexus 6 is a bit pricey here. Yeah I'll go for the ZF2, great reviews here and loads of exaggeration of reviews elsewhere.

true, I've also ordered it and wait it to be delivered since a local eshop had it on a special offer at 339€. Of course, If I could find both Nexus 6 and the ZF2 at the same money, I'd get the first mainly because you can mod it easily and without any repercussions (unlocked bootloader doesn't void the warranty, etc)
But then again, going from my current phone of 512 mb ram and 400 mb internal memory to a rocket like ZF2 doesn't leave me much room for complaints

Im a new owner and I regret getting this phone. Battery life is terrible, camera is mediocre, many weird bugs, screen brightness is a joke, reminds me of my 2011 HTC. Oh and still no Android 5.1 and its probably never coming to this phone apparently and probably same story for Android marshmallow.
Avoid this phone at all cost. You can get a better phone for less IMO. Mine is going on Craig's list if the next big patch doesn't fix the battery life.

It has better battery life than lg g4 and galaxy s6(had both), so what's your point? If you personally have a bad experience with your unit, that doesn't make this a phone to "avoid at all cost".

Worth Upgrading from Note 5 to Note 7

Want to know if it is worth upgrading from the note 5 to note 7? If so Why??
In my opinion it's not worth it.. Almost same design. I think the battery will not be better too. The only pro thing is that the note 7 is waterproof.
Gesendet von meinem SM-N910F mit Tapatalk
Yes.
Edge screen looks nice and futuristic and clearly is the way to go for Samsung flagships moving forward.
Waterpoof.
Much better cameras.
Easier to hold one-handed.
Design so much better, very compact for a 5.7" screen phone.
Better battery.
USB type C.
Iris scanner not needed but still cool.
Micro SD card support with the possibility of using it as adoptable storage.
Only downside is it's expensive.
edit:
Forgot to mention that you can also set the screen to 1080p to save substantial battery life if you can't really see the difference between it and 4k. You can even set to 720p if you want.
I feel like the note 5 and S6 were a step in the right direction design wise, and still have great features when it comes to the hardware. If you don't plan on getting your phone wet and have enough internal storage then I wouldn't upgrade. If you like to store a lot on your phone that's the only reason I would upgrade if I were you. Otherwise the camera is still top of the line, the fingerprint scanner is fast& secure, and the phone still has the premium look and feel.
Yes for the sd card slot if nothing else.

Is worth. Read this: Galaxy Note7 OLED Display Technology Shoot-Out
I am still on a note 3 so for me it's a no brainer.but someone with a 5 they should wait unless you really need the SD card.

I will buy (as n5 battery is its weakest feature) but depending on what the v20 delivers I may well sell it soon after!

4k? I thought it was 1440! But anyway imo it's not worth it at all. What do you gain? Do you have a problem with note 5? If it's performance related note 7 is likely the same or if it's thr purple smudge

Yes, what I meant was 2k, not 4k, lol.
No purple smudge on my Note5. No real problem with Note5 except the very limited 32gb storage, which I obviously knew about before buying. I thought it was going to be enough, I was wrong.

I actually made a thread although now i regret it because I thought the phone is released but it seems it's still not out yet! But they said the same thing about note 4 and ot does have it. Are you sure? Have you checked in gallery? Maybe the picture you check is bright! How about lag or delays. When you compare it next to a nexus or an iPhone.is it smooth?

Yea my pretty sure my Note5 doesn't have that issue.
About lag, are you asking about the Note7? With my brief time with it in the store, I can say there aren't any lags but of course it may be different when we're actually using it as our own.
To put it in perspective, what motivation will Nexus 6P owners have to upgrade to the 2016 version? It'll have generationally better h/w but what else? Especially considering the OS is/was/will be the same on both devices. Hardware and software has matured so the generational differences between devices get smaller each year. Unless you're a big gamer what apps are going to be noticeably faster between Exynos 7420 and 8890 or Snapdragon 810 and 820? If you want a Note7 and feel like spending the money, get it. If not I'm guessing 90% of what you do on your phone would perform just as well on a Note5. I've personally given up on rationalizing getting a new phone every year. I just chalk it up to a whim because I like the latest and greatest.

Me also.
Nothing to rationize really, if I want a new device i buy one its not like I need to make a list of pluses and minuses or try to justify it..thats ridiculous its a phone not a car. Not a really major expense lol.
In this particular case though for me going from note 5 i do really want the SD support the 7 offers.

I gave up on the note 5 along time ago mainly because of the poor battery life, I went to the s7e and battery is much better. I really like the s7e but will be getting a note 7 as soon as it's out to test the loser will be the back up phone

Thats due to the water resistance likely, which for myself is pointless as i am not stupid enough to use my device in a wet enviroment.
I would much rather ditch that and have far better audio quality. Personal preference of course and others seem to find the water resistance important
If the audio is that bad it would be a deal breaker for me and i will send it back.

This sort of question is THE most common on all forum brands. The answer is yes and no. In other words some will upgrade while others are still happily using the note 1. It is a very personal issue and one only you can answer.
Let us know what you decide?
