Hello everyone,
I'm relatively new at rooting and just so happen the note 10.1 2014 is my first guinea pig.
First off, I have successful rooted my note via Odin 3.09 with CF-autoroot with autorootp600mj4.tar.md5 and stockrecoverymj4.tar.md5. Rootchecker shows that it's rooted.
Next I installed Titanium backup and back up and then uninstall all 5 files of Knox securities.
Next I installed GooManager and installed TWRP from OpenSourceRecovery option and then rebooted with recovery.
So now is where the problem starts. Whenever I tried rebooting into recovery, I keep getting the Android recovery system (with red triangle sign and a laying down android picture).
Here's some method that I did to try and fix this.
1. Manually reboot recovery ( Did not work) goes into Android recovery system again.
2. I reinstalled TWRP again using GooManager, still doesn't work.
3. Downloaded the appropriate TWRP .tar files for Samsung galaxy note 10.1 2014 from TWRP main site and flash with Odin. I got a Pass!. Then when I do a reboot recovery, it goes into the Android recovery system again.
So far I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I've checked to make sure every step is correct, especially when I was rooting (E.g. making sure USB debugging is enabled, open source is enable, and so on)
I've tried to find my solution via google but to no avail. If you have any suggestions, it will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.:good:
I had same issue. You have to install it with Odin.

Simply flash via Odin, but untick " Auto Reboot " within odin before flashing.
Reboot manually into recovery , you will get a permanent TWRP
Got it
Thank for reassuring me that it can be done.
I found out the problem. The tar files from TWRP that I donwloaded was the wrong version. TWRP version was openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-lt03wifiue.img. And I used that to flash on Odin and it worked thereafter. I hope this will help other people who have similar issues.

Having same issue with SGH-T889. Any help? Heard of similar issue with Nexus 4. They have revert recovery disabler. Not tried on my Note 2. Is similar solution available for T889?
After flashing recovery in Odin are you booting up the phone (or is odin - i.e. auto reboot is checked)? There is a file (/system/etc/install-recovery.sh) that you need to disable to have recovery "stick". There are a few ways to do this, but my preference has been to do it within cwm/twrp recovery via adb after flashing in odin but prior to first bootup of phone.
Hope that helps!
Ive had luck un-checking auto-reboot in odin, flashing recovery, wait for it to say pass, unplug USB, pull battery, and boot straight into recovery by holding home + vol up when powering on.
This can be dangerous so make sure odin is completely done before unplugging.

I know you can't access CWM Recovery..
Allot of us use TWRP Recovery and it works great. I think it is safe to say it is a Superior Recovery now. I suggest you use that Recovery.
You can get it installed easily by downloading GooManager from the play store, opening the app, hit your menu button and tap Install Open Recovery Script. That's it. Quick and easy!
For the people having a hard time, are you rooted? If you are just download goomanager and use it to install twrp

This works when everything else fails!

Been looking for a solution for hours and the android system recovery was feeling like a thorn in the foot that will never go away. But surprise, surprise, your simple suggestion did the trick!
Thanks a ton!! :good:
edit: on a whim I looked at the heimdall command line options and saw "close pc screen" as one of the arguments and tried that and it booted up perfectly!!!!! So relieved it was something that simple!
I got my S4 last night and immediately tried to root it after I got it, I read up on some stuff (not new to rooting, I've rooted multiple devices in the past) and attempted to flash TWRP via Odin but then it said it failed for some reason, I tried again and it failed. I figured everything was fine until I rebooted and got "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies and try again." I tried to connect it to my old Windows XP pc (my main pc runs Arch Linux) and kies kept saying "connecting" no matter how many times I tried to make it connect or reinstall the drivers.
I can get to download mode and I'm trying to flash the stock firmware via heimdall but it's taking forever to uncompress the image. I got the images from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2258628
I tried to flash cf-autoroot with heimdall in hopes that it would restore my bootloader but it wouldn't flash because it said it was missing an XML file.
I think I'm just missing the bootloader/recovery image but I'm not sure. Am I heading in the right direction?
If you have root and still have access to the phone when u turn it on flash cwm recovery via Odin or if Ur phone turns on nd have root then download goomanager nd you can install twrp with that app with no problems

I just recently purchased a rooted S4 and I downloaded a ROM from this site that wasn't compatible with my S4 and flashed it (BIG mistake I know now). So now I can't start up my phone. I read here that I should wipe out the divalk cache/cache and restart (didn't work). Reset to factory settings and reboot (didn't work). Download the TWRP flashable zip and flash it from the Recovery memory then reboot (didn't work). Now I'm really worried. Can you please help me?

What does it do when you boot up?
I have tried over and over to root my device and install Jedi S4. I am going through the process for the updated S4 for the UDID problem.
I have ODIN'd TWRP, then installed MDB-SetUIDOff.zip then SuperSU. At this point everything is fine. Then when I install JediS4 it appears to go okay but not very quickly, I hit reboot and I am hit with a "It appears your device is not rooted" would you like to install superuser?.......
If I hit no and reboot it just sits at samsung screen.... What am I doing wrong here?
I have tried the file T-Mobile_OUDHS-Recovery-jfltetmo.tar in ODIN as outlined by another site to no avail as well. It apparently places the stock recovery with the UDID issues fixed then roots the device.
Would appreciate any assistance in this matter.
Thank you,
CJ
Just use the RootUVUAMDL zip in recovery and that's it. All I did was flash cwm in odin then once I rebooted into recovery I flashed the Root zip I have been straight every since then.

When it says "would you like to install superuser" have you tried hitting yes? Also, if all you're seeking is root I would say to try flashing CF-Auto-Root in Original Android Development. If you want the custom recovery too, then either download and flash the Odin flashable TWRP recovery or boot into the ROM and installi Goo Manager and let it install TWRP for you.
Try CF auto root. Or if ur using the custom recovery tar in Odin, uncheck auto reboot and pull out the battery after u flash it in Odin. Then u will able to get to the custom recovery.

I'm new to Android and tried to flash a customer ROM and am now stuck in a boot loop. Any help will be appreciated and I'll try to explain myself the best I can.
1. I have a Bell Note 2 and rooted with the CF auto root process
2. I upgraded SuperSU after the root reboot and installed the reboot checker. it said i was rooted.
3. I used titanium backup to backup candy crush
4. I installed ROM Manager and installed ClockWorkMod Recovery. My Note 2 wasn't supported, but I read that i could use the international version from the list so i did that. Everything said it was successful.
5. I downloaded the DN3 Rom from the forums here and transferred to my SD card.
6. I booted into CWM Recovery and did a backup from the options there.
7. Then I chose to install a customer rom and searched for the zip file on my microSD card.
8. The DN3 splash screen came up and took me through some install screens. I chose everything for the SGH-i317M options during the install.
9. it rebooted and loops between the samsung note II splash screen the CWM recovery 6.0.4.3 screen for a second and continues to loop between the two.
I can't get to the CWM recovery screen. if i try it just keeps looping. I'm sitting in the odin mode screen now and i think i need to install a stock rom. Can anyone point me in the right direction to at least get it working? then i'll need to see what i did wrong. thanks.
So i'm in odin mode and found a stock rom to reinstall. it gets to Modem, then fails so i'm not sure if i grabbed the wrong one. I believe i can install a rom through odin now that i can get to odin mode, is that right? but i can't really find any roms around to load cause all the ones i fond are zip files. Do i need to find an MD5/tar file? and where would i find them?
Try sammobile.com
Thanks for the reply. I tried that but the share for the firmware was no good. I ended up resolving it through Keis emergency firmware update.

galaxy s3 mini stuck in download mode
phone stuck in download mode. i originally tried rooting my samsung galaxy s3 mini using odin and it kept failing and never worked. i then tried dr.fone- root and succesfully rooted. i tried to flash custom roms with odin but was unable as it kept failing. i gave up on this for a few months until just a few days ago i wanted to do a factory reset just to clean up my system. it would boot to recovery mode but then just log on without any changes being made. i then tried "Official TWRP App" from google play. i went through the settings and selected my phone and let the app download the correct twrp file and tried to use it but the app would not even see the file when navigating to the root folder where i placed it. i removed the .md5 so that .tar was the exstension left. the app then recognized the file as being there so i selected it and the "flash" option. nothing happened after trying a couple times so i then selected the reboot option and it rebooted but will not boot to any mode but the download mode for odin. againi have tried odin to install factory recovery roms again odin always fails after many tries.
