Can any one suggest app that prevents the usage of the home button? It's sometimes difficult to press, specifically when driving or in a hurry.
Some app that simulates de recent apps function (long home button press) and the home function itself.
Thank you very much.
If you are rooted, I would suggest using the Xposed Framework with the Xposed Additions module. Within that, you can map your buttons to do whatever you want, including disabling the home button and reassigning the home function to any other button.
If rooted install exposed Framework and Gravity box. All the functions you are wanting.

Gravitybox is a great all-in-one, but if I understand the OP's original question, it won't do what they were requesting because the only home button remapping is for long-press. Xposed Additions is more specific in what it does and gives a lot more options for remapping the buttons. I actually use both Gravitybox and Xposed Additions since they both have features that work really well, but not necessarily all by themselves individually.
Swipe Home Button
I use "Swipe Home Button". Works great. Just a small swipe from down to up brings me back to the homescreen. A larger swipe gives me the active apps.
This app is perfect! Thank you, poemadevil!
Do you think it can reduce the battery life?
Also, there's an xposed module that replaces the menu button with a recents button

GravityBox has option to turn on Pie Control.
It's like soft navigation button in shape of arc, consist of home, recent, back, option button, or any custom function as you wish.
You can activate by swipe from any edge of the screen.

Ok first view my screenshot at the bottom of this post.
My current setup:
LauncherPRO, status bar toggled hidden, black background, and custom dock icon images, black (so they appear hidden)
What I want:
Ideally, I want NO dock icons.
I use google gesture search for everything. There is an extra app that makes google gesture pop up when I long-press the search button, so i'd like to remove that icon as well.
Please help with any ideas!
Also I am liking the idea of invisible widgets.
I want to have secret ones, where I scroll left-side to open x app, or pinch and zoom one area of the screen to toggle wifi, etc.

Bump.
Essentially I want no homescreen.
Using the search button long-press shortcut to gesture search is all I need.
I might throw a hidden lock on there as well.
I want it to appear that my device is powered down to the average user.

I use Go launcher and Swipe pad. Nothing else on my homescreen. Toggling statusbar (swipe up or down) and no icons in my on my taskbar. I double tap to get to my app drawer. I use swipe pad for quick access to what I use most. I like it no one can figure out my phone.

This Menu button only appears, if phone doesn't have hardware Menu button.
If you use on-screen buttons, which doesn't have menu button either, then that button appears in some apps.
But I have used a ROM:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1786871
It has this button too. I want to know how to make this button apear.
As I said, that Menu button appears if phone doesn't have own Menu key (enabled).

But that ROM don't have any on screen button, and the hard-ware Menu key is still working.
In total, do you know what to let it apear
Is there any body know? Please answer me

I'm not sure, but mine seemed to turn up when I flashed AeonWorld's Xperia S Lockscreen. It does however, turn up in every app, like the web browser or youtube. The Links below:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1748622 (I also flashed the reboot option, that might be the reason too)
decompile framework-res.apk go to res/values/bools.xml and change the line navigationmenu(something like this don't remember exactly) to "true"
Eh.. I got it, thx

Hi fellow note 2 users. You probably know that You can enable on-screen buttons on the note 2 by editing build.prop, and boy how much goodness they add to the daily usage of the note 2, especially when using the S Pen. However, some of Sammy's apps don't play so well with soft buttons and the Camera app is the most annoying one since the main button becomes too hard to hit without hitting the home button instead. Can a kind dev fix that for us on-screen buttons lovers, please

change the navigation bar dpi
1. follow this step to decompile/recompile
2. backup your current framework-res.apk (just in case)
3. after decompile, go into framework1/res/values/dimens.xml, open it using Notepad++
4. search for navigation bar height, navigation bar height landscape and navigation bar width
5. change it into 30, 0 and 24, save
6. recompile the apk
7. put it back to your phone
8. enjoy
thanks a lot
Hi there
How do I disable the soft on screen keys?
They get in the way and take up space when gaming or sometimes watching films I want to be able to swipe down when I dont need them or for them to disappear automatically.
Im on stock, unrooted.
Thanks
Flash a rom like cm that includes support for extended desktop. That's exactly what you're looking for
Yeah Just use Cm.
Just hold the power button and press disable keys.
Works perfect! Gaming is 2x better with it gone now!

Hide Bottom Bar
Alternatively, use this.
Grr, sorry, mainly a lurker, and XDA won't let me post a link. Search for 'Hide Bottom Bar' in the play store.
Requires root, works well for me for gaming and ebooks.
Are the cm roms stable?
Yeah, they're pretty stable, even the nightlies.

Cool thanks think I'll wait for the stable though skip the nightlies

Add this line to your build.prop.
qemu.hw.mainkeys=1
It makes the phone think it has capacitive buttons and disables the nav bar.
then just use LMT Launcher to navigate though the phone.
LMT Launcher-http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
I use the app full screen toggle then I use button savior to take place of the soft keys the top pic is with my soft keys still hidden look at the lower right to see an grey arrow by my l key. The second pic the soft keys are now out. Notice I still have my my status bar which u don't get with using full screen mode on roms like cm.

[MOD] Wakeup with Volume Up (XPOSED module)
Hi guys,
I wrote a simple xposed module to wake the device with the PowerUp button.
1. Install xposed: http://dl.xposed.info/latest.apk (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1574401)
2. Install the WakeVolUp.apk: http://tinyurl.com/ppxhf3v/Xposed_WakeVolUp.apk
EDIT: New version: http://tinyurl.com/ppxhf3v/WakeVol2.apk
3. Enable the WakeVolUp module from the Xposed menu

It should save some "power button clicks" until the flip cover is out
Thanks Working fine here
I use Tap Tap App and just wave over the phone to wake screen. This is a good power-button saving backup, since 'Tap Tap' only works 9 times out of 10. Thanks for this module.
Need root for this app

Upload the APK to google drive and access it on your phone.
Wondering if you need root in order for this to work.
thanks,
Yes. Root is required.

I am unable to get this module to work with KitKat 4.4.2. Other modules work fine. Can anyone else confirm this is the case?
I can confirm, don't work on kitkat.Any solution?
Sent from my XT1034 using Tapatalk
I still have to upgrade to 4.4 but I'm presume it is just a matter of finding the correct class/key to hook.
I thought GravityBox mod had the option to do the same, haven't test it but it may be an option.
Yes, the latest version of GravityBox has this feature and it works well in 4.4.2.
Thanks, but...
Thanks for your work, but I don´t really get why we´d ever need this. I mean, the powerbutton and volume-up are maybe 1 cm apart on the moto g. on devices like the htc one or similar big-ass phones where the power button is ridiculously placed, such mods are pretty welcome, i suppose.

Which would you rather have break due to excessive wear, power button or volume button?
"Excessive wear" be honest, what do you do with your devices? I have never experienced a broken button due to excessive use... I mean, this phones are tested to last at least for several hundred thousand button pushes, right?

sweep2wake is much beter
