I've done a search on these boards as well as web searches. Thought maybe you all could help me out here.
This isn't necessarily only S3 related, but since I'm connecting my S3 I figured this might be the right place to post my question.
I am using an S3 stock android 4.3 -Sprint (I know, I know... haven't rooted) and have purchased a Harman Kardon Onyx Bluetooth speaker. I'm extremely impressed with the sound of the speaker and want to get a second one, however I don't know if there is a way to send Bluetooth signal from one audio source (my S3) to two Bluetooth speakers at once. Not necessarily looking to get 'stereo' sound, but the ability to play the same audio in 2 rooms or on 2 speakers at the same time would be great.
Anyway, the only impractical solution I found is for the Note3 - basically you need 2 Note3's and then sync them to each other via an app and send each to one of the 2 speakers streaming the same audio. Not really what I was looking for...and I don't own a Note3, let alone 2 of them.
I do have a Gal Tab2 and Gal Tab 7510, but I'd like to be able to send from my handset if possible.
Any ideas? Maybe an app? Even creative ideas like a separate unit that will take the Bluetooth signal and split it to 2? Not ideal unless it's a small battery powered unit, but worth a shot. I'm open to ideas...
Thanks in advance!

I have been reading about this car stereo since CES and cant wait to purchase it. Though I can't find any information on whether the Galaxy Nexus will be compatible with the app. It was announced that the SGIII would receive it but has anyone heard about the G Nex getting it? If not, hopefully the dev community will be able to port it over...Here is a link to the actual stereo...

Why not get this one...

It runs on android is btw.
Double din comes out later this year.

I considered that one before the Sony one was announced. I like that I would possibly be able to control Rdio on a large screen and it connect to my steering wheel controls (with an added accessory) and not have to fumble with my phone. Plus the option of my passengers being able to watch DVD's and Netflix is pretty cool.
Ya that would be nice for em. As far as the release and the features of the double din I'm not positive but its in the works. I work at a car audio shop and we had a webinar with them and said it was gonna be bahdass. Also the pioneer aporadio 2 has HDMI output and has optional MHL cable for android
... also it would be sick if it were possible to root and develop a custom from for a radio. Seems interesting not sure if source would be available though lol. I know they had updates on there sight but don't remember seeing code. They gotta give us something though

Ah yeah it would be amazing to have a custom rom on a car stereo.
I just need a stereo that I can control Rdio and a few other music apps from so I can get over not needing/wanting the pogo car dock...
Not sure about the Sony you are talking about since the company I work for doesn't carry it but anything with Bluetooth a2dp is the way to go as far as android goes the USB interface sucks for android devices reads ringtones and pretty much every audio file there is as well as shows every folder you have. Not to mention I can't connect to a single deck through USB because of mtp . So yeah. I would highly recconend actually testing the head unit you are interested in and make sure it works the way you want it to because car audio is pretty depressing when it comes to android compatability

Awesome. Thanks for the heads up. I will wait for a local car audio store here in Houston to have one on display first.
Ya that's definitely the way to go about it. like I said car audio hasn't shown android no love... everything is made for apple -.-

Awesome, Houston here too. I have been looking for more info on Mirrorlink as well. I started this thread trying to gather some, but not much headway has been made. I cancelled my EVO 4G LTE because it was not advertised with Mirrorlink compatibility. Waiting for Sprint to get the SIII next month hopefully.

I am very interested in this myself and since Nokia is the most supported brand I am hoping that we will see some Windows Phone compatibility in the near future. I did think it was pretty funny that all the phones supported except one were Symbian though, I thought Symbian was on the outs.
FYI the XAV-601BT is out now.
But nobody reviewed that device yet
Has anyone tried pairing a mirrorlink enabled phone to the head unit and test it out? Im planning to buy this head unit in the next quarter so i'd like some advices.

HI, just as an alternative, i bought the Alpine ICS X8 with mirror link, as yet it doesnt support my galaxy s3...
The Sony XAV-601BT just received a firmware update (get it at the Sony support site) that adds support for the Galaxy S3. I can't tell you much about it as I have the Nexus. Hopefully some ROM devs start to incorporate MirrorLink into their OS builds. From what I read in another thread, it isn't as easy as just getting the APK from the S3.
im trying to purchase a car stereo that has bluetooth hands free calling and is able to play music streamed from my galaxy note 2.
the salesman said however, that he cant guarantee any of the stereo units would work correctly with the bluetooth 4.0 that the note 2 uses.
...has anyone had any problems connecting to their car stereo, or can recommend a model that will work with the note 2 ?
thanks in advance.
I have a JVC navigation all in one and it works great with it.
It's a 2011 model.
yup, i have a flip screen with bluetooth and it connects perfectly, i have a full system btw, woofer, speekers amp the lot.
thanks guys .. any links for those models if possible?
If you want something literally cheap as chips, try one of these from Halfords.
I know it won't appeal to an audiophile, but if you're the sort of person who's generally happy with the manufacturer supplied head units, one of these would be a more than adequate replacement, and works fine with the Note II.
Regards,
Dave
bluetooth 4.0 is backward compatibility with all the older versions. So it works !!!!!!!!!!! No problem watsoever. The car salesman should get his facts straight or quit the job
Kenwood has problems
I have a DNX7190HD and the Note 2 will not work with the Pandora app at all through bluetooth. It will play Pandora through the Bluetooth menu option of the head unit but you will not get any song list or album art, but pause and play buttons do work.
Kenwood says the phone is not supported and there is no bluetooth software update coming.
Older Android phones work perfectly.

yes , it was something on those lines that my dealer was saying, and therefor couldnt guarantee any of the other makes would work untill he got some feedback.
As far as audio goes, you should be fine, as m4sta2k stated bt4.0 is backwards compatible. I have a Parrot MKi9000 handsfree installed (old one) and everything works, audio and controls. But, maybe on some radios not all the controls are supported (and also, whichever display functions it may have), as it seems that stuff is not 100% standard across all the bt devices, as opposed to audio profiles.
Best thing would be trying the radio on the store before buying it.

To be honest, I've not really noticed or cared much as I'm usually streaming from Spotify and thus have the phone screen on and can see what's playing there.

I have one of these and everything works perfectly. In fact the Note 2 is better at connecting automatically than my Desire HD was.
In BMW not working also

i agree with you , it connects everything perfectly.
but instead of a track listing on the headunit screen i just see AD2P ... its no big deal but if im missing a button press or something that shows the track info instead i would prefer to see it.
what does yours show when streaming from bluetooth / note 2 ?

Was in the car today.
Like you, it only shows A2DP on the screen and not the track. Tried with both Spotify and Google Music.
My other three BT speaker devices (2 headsets and some speakers) don't have screens so I can't say if it's the headunit or the phone.
Luckily, I don't care!

Dave

I was looking to see if there was compatability with either AppRadio 2 or Mirrorlink for this phone. I haven't been able to find any info yet. I'm hoping someone here might have an idea, or have tried it. I keep coming across Drive Link for the SIII, but nothing for the Note II.
Kind of wanted to do a bump/update. I have installed Samsung's Drivelink on my Note2, and it seems to work just fine. I haven't tried connecting it up to a Mirrorlink device yet. Has anyone tried, or had any success?
For anyone looking for Drivelink there is a link here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34024429&postcount=353
BUMP. Looking to invest in a good head unit for my GN2. I've been holding onto my iPhone 4S and using it as an ipod in my car since my car has decent ipod integration but no Android integration. I've seen some videos of people getting Appradio 2 working with the GS3, so I presume the GN2 shouldn't be a problem. But just want to make sure as BestBuy's website shows a review of someone complaining that AppRadio2 does not work with the GN2.
Hey all,
Anyone try the Sony XAV-601BT with the Galaxy S3 yet? I know it supposedly works, but was wondering if any of you had actual experience with it. Sounds like a dream come true. I don't think I'd even use the full mirror link capability but just knowing its there would be really cool, and mainly I'd be after all the controls available... Play music through my phone via Bluetooth, play CDs, XM, hook my phone in via USB to charge (free up my cigarette lighter adapter). Make calls via bluetooth. Seems to be a serious all in one situation, and the added mirroring would be great.

It's not a "dream come true" yet. It's a toy for geeks. I just got it and it seems like it might be a source of frustration. My wife has the S3 and I have the Note 2. We'll see how it works out. So far I have my suspicions that my wife will be in FM or CD mode most of the time. We'll see if she does Pandora at all, and I'm hopeful that she will actually use the phone. But mirrorlink/drivelink has already been proven to be buggy for me on day 1. Sometimes it works.. sometimes it requires a reboot. Not exactly a dream if you're on the road. I'll keep you updated though. So far I can't find a 2013 firmware update.
I looked at this head unit for a while but ended up going with the Pioneer Appradio 2 (SPH-DA100) and love it so far. Look into it and the app ARLiberator. It is a pretty slick combo. I got a great deal on it at Best Buy (open box) for $235. The only extra thing you need is a set of cables to plug into the back if you don't get the pioneer set.
I love the phone but.... There is ALWAYS something or other that doesn't work the way it's supposed to.
Bluetooth is a pain in the b+*#!
I have never been able to get it to work consistently. WiFi cuts in and out when it wants to etc.
It's a great phone but for international it is several steps behind the OnePlus.
Anyone else having trouble?
Yeah. When I use Bluetooth wifi has some issues. I had this also with previous xiaomi phone.
Sad that they've put such a low quality wifi-Bluetooth module into a flagship smartphone.
Sent from Note 3, Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.
