I notice I can't delete anything or copy anything to the sd card. Any one else notice this problem.

You're file explorer should have root setting which include R/O or R/W, which means the phone needs root, something that isn't available right know. You can always transfer your files from your phone to you're PC then to your SD card or vice versa.
Ok thanks

I believe this is how Kit Kat works. It's gimped the way android used Sd cards. Now that they're almost useless, HTC brings it back. ><

They are only useless if you're clueless and not rooted.. To get it to work properly in kit Kat all you have to do is add a couple lines to the permissions.xml file. I got it working perfectly on my gpe ultra z. Had the same issues reported and all I had to do with a add two lines to the xml file and it worked perfectly. Sure there are a lot of people that don't root.. But this is xda

Yep. A lot don't root, and some may or may not get the choice. Verizon has blocked HTC unlock. I'm sure something will pop up, but who knows.
So I'll rephrase. Almost useless except to those few who are willing and able to root. Which sadly, is becoming less and less as time goes by.. I miss how it used to be before all this carrier/OEM lockdown jank
This issue is rediculous. I can write and reorder and copy and paste files and folders all over the M8 internal memory, but not on an SD card.
How does this make anything more secure and how does it do anything but completely screw up android and turn it into ios and it's walled garden?
I seriously don't want to root this phone, but feel I may have to in order to use it how it should already be able to be used.
It's no wonder Deezer went mental and screwed my phone up for half a day when I tried to cache all my music to SD card!

Hey guys, I got the latest Android Market, it has a redesigned UI, and easier access to menus and such, here is the download link - http://cl.ly/2A420B3F0F451k161O2r
Give me a thanks if you like it!
wow that's crazy different. I think I like it haha.
This market is sooo cool!
wow. It took forever to load but thats so different. Reminds me of windows 7 phones.
EDIT: Added a picture for those who want to see it first.

You don't have to be rooted. It's just an APK

Save the file on your sd card then use an app like Super Manager or File Explorer to find it and install it
Amazing! Thank you for sharing!, May i ask where you found this?
Much Nicer!
I never really had an issue with the market app even coming from apples app store , but this just feels cleaner!
It's nice. I pushed it to my phone and had it replace the Vending.apk file in /system/app for my rom. It worked well. I didn't get any errors on the movies bit but it may wait until after the movies part is done to tell you that it doesn't work on root. Unless of course the changed that policy on movie rentals...
P.S. - I reverted to the old market. Didn't like the new one much.
I am quite cheesed off by the new one. How do I revert?

Just go to mannage applications and click on market. From there it should display an option that says uninstall updates. Just click on that and you should be good to go

I have this on my Nook. I like the old market better and don't need books, etc.

why do guys not like it? its nice, clean, works the same way but just adds more features. just curious.
It likes to not download apps I tell it to. i.e., click download "angry birds", says starting download forever.
Does the new market require WiFi connection for apps over a certain size? I can't download Adobe reader, which I've downloaded multiple times over 3g, on multiple ROMs, but can't get it to start over 3g. I'm on the newest MIUI build...
*edit- got it.... user error. Settings in the download app
Does anyone know how to remove the location icon at the top? From the looks of it, it's a Verizon only thing. I did it to my Thunderbolt, but can't remember how I did or even if that method would work.
Thanks

Is there a difference from removing the entire reticle compared to just deleting the PNGs? Just wondering.

There's an underlying smali edit that will remove the functionality, and is the "right" way of doing it (at least that's how it was on the Thunderbolt). Also, the PNGs were hidden somewhere in the Thunderbolt, so it wasn't this easy. The result is the same and doesn't really matter to the end user, though.
Worked for me. Thanks OP.

There is a slight difference in that removing the image still causes it to take up space on the notification bar but I imagine with a 720p wide screen you're not terribly crunched for space there.

I tried this and it froze up. I just moved the file into the app file in root explorer, but my phone froze up and on reboot, I had to re-flash the ROM.
Any advice on what I am doing wrong?
When I overwrote SystemUI.apk, it succeeded, then everything froze for a few seconds. When it came back to life, I slowly, and after a few more crashes of System UI, got the device to reboot. On reboot, I got the Samsung logo with the unlocked padlock icon and the word "Custom" below it. When the phone booted back up, everything seems to be working with the location reticle gone. Subsequent reboots have not had the unlocked padlock or the "Custom." I booted the phone into Odin mode and got the following:
Code:
[COLOR="Red"]ODIN MODE[/COLOR]
PRODUCT NAME: SCH-I535
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: No
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
[COLOR="DarkSlateGray"]QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE[/COLOR]
Weird behavior, but it works.
Isn't there a way to use sql editor to get rid of it like the post for getting rid of the annoying wifi toggle thing?

There might be but that's way over my head.
Over the past couple of days, the app drawer on my unrooted stock Note 2 had taken to moving about randomly.
I'm not overly concerned about it, but I'm wondering if anyone else had experienced this.
Thus far, I've seen it move to the centre and the second rightmost position.
This morning, I actually watched it swap position when I unlocked my phone.
Regards,
Dave

Is everything still working correctly when it's moved?

Yes, everything still works fine. I wouldn't mind it in the centre all the time either.
Thus far, moving the other shortcuts around tends to snap the app drawer back, but it was weird this morning to see it move because I could swear it was animated (as opposed to simply just flipping position).

Dave

Thanks for the advice, but no thanks!
Battery life on the Note 2 is frankly epic, even if I leave WiFi and BT on.
I don't go chasing battery life on a device that can easily get me through the day.

Dave

Usually this is due to nandroid backups.

the amount of space taken up by your nandroid doesn't show up in this screen. you should try downloading DiskUsage from the Play Store so you'll have an idea as to what's taking up space in your phone.
P.S. I am not, in any way, related to or are friends with the developer/s of DiskUsage.
I noticed that when initially 'calculating', there is a 'misc' group where usually nandroid and other big files are but once it finishes calculating it disappears.
I'm not sure why it does that now on jb roms but on ics roms it would calculate the misc group. Or maybe it's just a rom problem but I doubt it.
I'm on aokp btw

This happened to me before, and i know exactly why, though its pretty situational.
I used Google music to download all of my songs to my device. What I didn't know is that you don't just get copies of the same files you uploaded. What I ended up getting was a bunch of strangely named files in the cache of Google music with a .nomedia file hiding them. My data manager did the same strange disappearing misc. files thing. I tried to unpin the music through Google music, and the space was still taken. I then tried to delete the files from the cache using a root manager, and I couldn't for the life of me free up that space, no matter what I did.
I ended up wiping my data and starting fresh because it frustrated me so much.

No, all the OP did is switch to ART. It has done this on previous Samsung phones too. Completely normal.
I switched to ART and I don't have the lock when I reboot.
Some Launchers will throw it. Are you using Apex or something similar?
That is a screen on boot indicating that the boot loader is in fact unlocked.
What does your phone say when in download mode or recovery?
This could be huge if the bootloader is unlocked.

Well even if it is unlocked it does do any good unless a developer figures out a way to get it on everyone else's phones. .. i really hate AT&T right now.

Well if we can get a copy of that partition we may be able to do something with it, if it's an AT&T Note 4 running it. If it can be installed on that AT&T Note 4 it may pass the signature checks or bypass them.
