I see many videos where they say how enable the HTC logo in HTC One. Is it possible do the same thing in the new HTC One (M8) and so remove the on screen buttons?

Probably not, I would say no... With the HTC One the space over the logo was touch sensitive cause there where 2 capacitive buttons on the sides but with the New HTC One there is no sense to make it touch sensitive since the buttons are on the screen
I can confirm that this apparently is not possible. When I went to a Verizon store yesterday to pick up my M8, there was actually a Senior Technical Manager from HTC there. We chatted, and I asked him if there was a capacitive strip under the logo bar - he said that unfortunately, there was not. He did say, however, that there is other hardware under it. So at least it's not completely just there for no reason
With that much bezel on the bottom of the phone...really just should have put actual capacitive buttons there on the black where the HTC logo is and given us that screen real estate back from the virtual buttons
Thanks for the answers, now I just have to hope that in future they'll add new gesture for go back and go to the home and so deactive the on screen key because with the same sense version and settings in my HTC One when I'm in Internet I can see more display than the new One that I tried on store. The same thing in many menus like settings.

Hi,
I'm not sure if this is something really silly and simple that I'm somehow missing, but I'm unable to change the default home screen on the HTC One X. Is this not supported on the stock ROM without installing a 3rd party launcher? I'd really like to be able to change the default homescreen. When I say default, I mean the one the stock launcher takes you to upon pressing home.
I've tried looking all over but haven't found much. I'm guessing the feature exists because when I zoom out of my homescreen, one of the homescreens has a home icon on it, but I don't know how to change it to some other screen.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
have you tried to get all the homescreens on the screen together and just press the one you want and move it around? what i mean you get all 7 of the homescreens together. if you press on one you can move it in the order you want..so you have the homescreen the main one in the middle the one with the home icon well you can move it to the top and that will be like page 1 starting from left to right.. hope that helps

I understand what you are saying but I think you are misunderstanding his question
if I have 7 screens and say for instance I want to make screen 6 the home screen how does one do that (so that when you press the home button it will go to screen 6 and not to the middle screen [current home icon])
I have searched for this feature as well to no avail
Move all the features that are on screen 6 to screen 1. Duh. You're thinking in reverse. Think forward. Best o luck to ya.

I think you got it backwards that is alot of PT simple put how do you make another screen the home screen
it was simple with my Moto Milestone you just selected "make this the home screen"
I am thinking this is a limitation in Sense 4.0
not a biggy, but fundamentals are missing
Solution?
I might have a solution. I accidentally changed my home screen so everytime I pushed the Home button on the bottom it went to the wrong screen. The way I fixed mine was doing a restart from the screen I wanted to be the home screen. Once the reboot was complete, my home screen was set correctly.
/update Nope, somehow it randomly got changed again, tried what I thought fixed it above, doesn't work. This is stupid, obviously there is a way to change it, shouldnt be this difficult. I have exactly 9 days to return this phone, I am considering it with all the issues I've had.
I just saw on the SGS3 review that the home screen can be changed easily….
Each screen as an icon on it when in fan view. One is designated as home, to change, just click the icon on the screen you want to be home. Whatever tiles/widgets/apps are on that screen, its still home.
With the One X, you can have any of the 7 screens as home but the tiles/widgets/apps move with the home page (by dragging the home screen around and changing its order)
The only way to do it would change home screen and then manually change all the icons/widgets after

Just curious as to what everyone has found to make it easier to turn off the M8 instead of reaching all the way to the top for the power button, which can be awkward. I know there is a knock at the top of the screen, but that is almost as bad as reaching for the button. Any other options/suggestions?

What exactly do you mean? Are you talking about turning off the screen as BigAl assumed, or are you talking about powering down the device?
use the nav bar on custom roms to change their attributes .
I use double tap on home to turn the screen off, also double tapping the notification bar works (viper rom)

Yes, just screen off/lock. I have a custom rom and they just have the swipe or tap at the top of the screen which is the same as reaching for the power button if not more difficult (tried Viper). I'm on Revolution 5 right now and really like it...just want a better way to lock the device...double tapping home sounds good. Is there a downloadable app or flashable addon compatible with Revolution?
using his kernal

swipe to turn off screen
I know there are many in the play store...was just wondering what other M8 owners used before I try them all
i use an app called knock lock. you set where you would double tap to turn off the screen. pretty nice add on for the gesture controls. plus no root needed. i set mine at the center

I use flar2's kernel. Includes sweep 2 sleep the bottom of the device to shut off the screen. No need to run an extra app. He also has a module you can use on stock kernel (need root though).

If you by turning off mean sleep, then:
Swipe2sleep isn't really needed in ARHD rom, as the Sense6 Toolbox allows you to customize the behaviour of the control bottons in the nav bar.
I've just setup long-press the home botton to sleep. Works fine and easier than swipe (IMO)
I use widgetsoid, create an invisible toggle button to turn the screen off which fills the bottom half of my screen so one click off without ruining my homescreen.
I use a Dot View case and close lid...does that count...

I remember as a kid, watching the Jetsons, and a "hard day at work" for George was when he had to "push teh button six times." I think we're surpassed that.
first of all, i know my english it's not so good, so sorry about that.
i saw all arround the internet that can't be developed a softkey on the logo, like it was on the m7, they say there are no sensors on the bottom of the screen. but i saw a glitch, or a resnonse of the first pixel line of my m8. can't the developers do something about that? i think this is really possible.
here is my test:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=we89csX9TnU&feature=youtu.be
I don't see how that is a "glitch". On the video, while he is intending to tap the HTC logo, but it looks like his skin is actually touching the screen just above the logo "black bar". And the phone is doing what its supposed to do when you touch the bottom of the screen.
It's not possible. If you manage to put in another screen that fits the phone exactly including the HTC logo bar.......then yes.
One feature I love in iOS is that you can scroll the entire screen down halfway in order to reach anything on top of the screen when your one handed. You activate this by just scrolling down on the home button.
Has anyone ever seen this for Android?

There is an xda app, xda one handed mode I believe it's called. It's supposed to serve this same purpose. I can't comment on it because I've never used it though. One handed mode would be a much more useful feature of swiping down in the fingerprint reader than pulling up notifications IMO, but so it goes. Kinda surprised Google doesn't implement some sort of one handed mode but into the OS.
Duplicate post.
Hey peeps,
The moto app has a great feature for shrinking the screen down for one hand usage. It used to be that you dragged up from the bottom of the screen and swipe in an arc to the left or right, or straight up, to shrink the screen in favour of either hand.
This changed, so now you go from the centre of the screen and swipe into one corner.
I found the first way much, much better to do. The new way I will either scroll down the screen and the one handed mode turns on, or it just doesn't work.
So, does anyone have a way around this, either an old version of the app that can be sideloaded, or another way of doing it?
Cheers!
