Hello Folks,
As i already said i´m so busy these days, i would like to continue my developing with NokiaX at least i know @dhacker29 is working in device too.
With a recovery booting but with framebuffer troubles (have to check it again with the new kernel..)
Im gonna release a new way to Root our device.
A few weeks ago i found something really weird in my device so i reported it to Nokia security team...now its fixed but Im a little disappointed about that.. but this is another story.
So, lets go with this little guide.
First i must to say, why i should research and wasting my non-time trying or writing new exploits when we have something that still works.
So all this credits goes to ZJMedia
Download this package from http://goo.gl/LiQzz1
Now when your device is updated and plug in.
1- Install Nokia Composite ADB Interface (using it from Nokia Usb Drivers folder)
2- Open KingRoot app while device its working and plugged (If everything goes fine, should be detected as: Android Device (msm8625) Normal Mode
Yes, i know it.... KISS principle
Appreciate for your hard work. May I ask how to use the folder of NokiaX USB Drivers? Where is it put?
Thank you Kashamalaga!
For those wondering what to do with the Nokia drivers:
-Plug your phone to your computer
-Go to device manager and find your phone on the list(it should have a punctuation mark for windows 7 users)
-Right click on your phone and install the nokia drivers

When I was prompted to choose the location of the driver, I just chose the main nokia folder. Your computer should automatically choose and install whatever driver is needed.

It does takes time. No need to worry. Just don't go mad and re-boot your device because manually re-booting the device in process of rooting can brick your device.

Windows XP
1. Get the eXpo or IQ flasher (depending on which phone you have). Here is the link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=647900
2. Run the flasher installer.
3. Set the install directory to "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data" if it isn't set to that already.
4. Click install
5. Plug the usb cable into your computer.

As I saw in oneof your other posts you are using a GM750. This isn't even the same phone as the eXpo or IQ. You're not going to be able to flash one of these roms to your phone. There are hardware differences and software differences that prevent this.

When that happens it should still go into emergency download mode even though the screen might not say it. Try it again and run the update.

thx xdapants i did find the drivers but this did not fix the issue. It seems to be a connection problem with phone and comp (a common problem it would seem) do i`ve orderd and am still waiting for a new cable and hope this is the simple fix im looking for. However, if like i suspect this still does not work can i flash from memory card ? i think this was possible with the htc kaiser (best phone ever) or if not can i flash over a bluetooth connection ?

I don't believe it's possible to flash an lg phone from the memory card, at least not at this point. And as the phone needs to be in download mode, flashing over BT wouldn't be possible.
Consider trying a different USB port; ideally on the opposite side of the computer if you haven't already.
Hopefully the replacement cable will work for you. It seems to be the phone doesn't like being used as a storage device, but that shouldn't really have any bearing the download mode connection.
Im trying to flash my IQ to the latest Dragonstorm ROM and got a error with a load of Chinese characters and something about a server error. Did i miss anything? I got it to see my device and it was put into emergency download no probs. I just a bit reluctant to not wanting to brick my phone
did you extract to the correct location?
Hello!!
Well, hey guys. I thought I tell you the story, on why I posted this thread.
It started as I was installing Windows 8, on my laptop, and had the same problem, as some others. I just could not install the drivers, for my Droid, so I had a looksee and found that Windows 8 didn't yet have the capability, to download unsigned drivers, unlike Windows 7. So, I found a way of "tricking" Windows, into thinking, that these drivers are legit and it isn't forbidden to use, which is exactly what this tutorial tells Windows, in a way.
So, get going and use the full potential of your Android device!
Tutorial:
I have found a solution, to the following problem;
After installing Windows 8, you cannot install fastboot drivers, but it recognizes the ADB drivers...
Solution:
Open the dev-manager, by typing following, in a command prompt window, or the run dialog. Whichever you prefer... : devmgmt.msc
Now, the dive manager, should pop up.
Install ADB drivers, (If you do not have them present, download them here/
To prevent confusion: When I say install, it can mean unpack, or instal... Quick tip: An installer does nothing, apart from unpacking files, to allocated space, on your computer
Download USB drivers, from here. (Link fixed)
Should you NOT have drivers installed:
Install the USB drivers, and download ADB/fastboot drivers.
Installation of ADB/fastboot drivers:
Open the device manager, and look for "Samsung Mobile Device", or "Unidentified Device". You can make your search easier, by unplugging the phone, whilst in device manager, then plug it back in, and see what's changed...
Once you have found your phone, Perform a right-click, on the device. Select : "Update device drivers", once the dialog has poped up, choose "Browse my computer" and goto your dsktop, where you have installed the files to.
Open just the "drivers" folder, nothing else...
Select OK, then wait for installation to finish.
Once that has been done, you need to reboot your device, into bootloader mode; do this by typing
Code:
path=%userprofile%\Desktop\ADB\adb reboot-bootloader
adb reboot-bootloader
into the command prompt (download & install this, if you want to do it the cmd-way...)
Or, turn off your phone, and reboot i it manually into bootloader-mode, by pressing
Code:
VOL UP +DWM & PWR
together, untill phone vibrates...
Once the phone is in bootloader, go back to the device manager, and look for a device named "android 1.0". Perform a right-click on this and select "Update device drivers". Again, selct "Browse my computer", but, instead of clicking on "Browse" and selecting the folder, again, select "Let me pick, from a list of drivers." Once the menu has popped up, select "Samsung Android ADB interface". Click OK, and wait for the drivers to install . Then, you're done. You have then successfully installed the ADB + fastboot drivers correctly, to test this, open a cmd window, and type following:
Code:
path=%userprofile%\Desktop\ADB\
fastboot devices.
If your device shows up, then you have done it!!
Now type:
Code:
fastboot reboot
adb wait-for-device
adb kill-server
Note: while the phone is booting (If you typed "adb wait-for-device") A cursor will blink, wait for that, to stop blinking, then type the next command
I hope you learned, from this tutorial!! Check my root helper out, if you have enough time
Should you have problems, in recovery, open your dev. manager, and look for following device:
Code:
Full
Select, right-click. Update driver (blah, blah, witter, droan)
Browse my computer -> Let me pick -> Samsung ADB -> Done. You have enabled the ADB drivers, on your SAMUNG GALAXY NEXUS!"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Addition: You can only reboot into bootloader, if you are using a motorola, Google or HTC branded Android device! This will NOT work with Samsung models (i.e. Galaxy S II/III) due to the fact, that they use Odin mode. Should the drivers need updating, for some devices, please let me know!
Motorola Razr
Hello, I was wondering if this would work for the Motorola drivers. I've been trying to install them so that I can fastboot my Razr, but it quits right after it recognizes that I'm on Windows 8.
I guess I might as well just try it in the meantime!

Edit: In the ADB drivers link you posted, there's nothing to install. Just .sys files, .dlls, two .cat files, and some .infs. How exactly does one do anything with these files? Also, your second link for USB drivers was removed by mediafire.

Download MotoHelper. Right click the file and run in compatibility mode. It should install the drivers. I used this to run fastboot with my xoom.
It still hangs while running as admin under compatability mode for 7, I'll try as XP momentarily.
Edit: XP compatability didn't work either.

Yes, you can do the same for your Motorola. But only with the ADB drivers. Just do the same as with the Samsung. Select your device, form the devman. and right click. Update device drivers -> Browse -> Let me choose from a list... -> Samsnung ADB interface.
They are all provided by Google, inc. so, they are compatible, with every Android device. I've even used my Samsung ADB drivers, for a Sony Ericsson Xperia X8. So I can actually say, for myself, that they work. You then can work, using fastboot... ^^
Have fun fastbooting!

To your edit. You have extracted the files. This is also called "installing" because you have extracted NEEDED files. Even when you extract a .zip/.rar/.tar/.tar.gz and so on, because you need files out of them, you are installing, but not to the system, but to yourself
Sorry for bringing up an old post, but this method is not working for me on Windows 8 Consumer Preview. When I'm trying to install the ADB drivers, it says the drivers cannot be installed because it's not digitally signed.
UPDATE: I got it to work by disabling the Digital Signature Enforcement on Windows 8. Steps: Restart Windows > Boot loader Menu > Other Options > Advance Options > *Computer Automatically Restarts* > Press F7 to Disable Digital Signature Enforcement

Yes, it should work with all Android-modification applications. I have never really had problems, with Odin, with any version of Windows, mainly because this is the first thing I do, on any of my Windows machines, but it is always worth a try Tell us, what you have found out!

You may have to disable device driver signing, I've had quite a few people notify me about this.
But I'll sign the drivers, ASAP, so you won't have this problem

Hi Guys,
Any help would be great! i do have google talk if anyone is willing to help me out!
My R800i Is rooted and has a version of recovery but not sure which version, i am wanting to update my phone with a better kernel and rom since the current one i have installed is giving me issues ( not being able to receive incoming calls for example )
Another problem is i reformatted the phone since i was having issues with receiving calls but now when i connect my phone to ANY computer via the USB cable the computer trys to install MTP or MSC driver ( depends on which connection type i select ) the Installer fails and i cant even take any files off my phone.
Provided details below. i want to somehow get into the current bootloader and install the ROM thats on my SD card! i do have flashtool installed and Android tool SDK installed but still no success in phone wanting to talk to my laptop.
I am running windows 7 64 bit. i am starting to think the phone is belond repair since i cant get any software to work between the phone and computer.
does anyone know what buttons i need to push on the Xperia Play to enter into the boot loader, i have tried pressing the back button and search button on phone boot but nothing happens apart from the phone starts up normally.
would a factory reset delete the boot loader and other config-ed software off the phone is this why i cant enter the boot loader or am i not pressing the right buttons on boot.
Any help would be really appreciated!

If you want to change the kernel you must unlock your bootloader. If your Xperia Play is a SIM free one, you can do it for free in this link: http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com
For SIM locked devices I think you must find another ways to do it. There are some online sites that unlock bootloader to SIM locked devices for a fee.
Once you have unlocked your bootloader, turn off the phone, hold on the search button, plug the USB cable in the computer, release the search button (power button LED will be blue) and install this driver: http://drivers.softpedia.com/progDownload/Google-USB-Driver-Revision4-Download-139077.html
Now you are ready to flash any kernel you want with Flashtool or any other app.
Thanks for the information, i have already done this, i payed £25 for a guy on this forum to unlock my phone to any network. i'll give this a try and get back to you, problem is the phone doesn't like to talk to my laptop via USB cable keeps on failing to install the drivers..
Thanks for quick response.

I have tried what you said but having problems with connecting my phone to my Windows 7 Laptop!
Check your device manager. The fastest way to open it is running this command: devmgmt.msc
There must be some kind of Android device while your phone is connected in fastboot mode. If you see it, update its driver with the Google USB driver v4 pointing at the folder path with the uncompressed files.

Hi I tried what you said, i Turned off my phone and holded the search button and turned it back on, the light went blue and the computer popped up trying to install fast boot i point to the SDK folder to update the driver but it fails.
do you have google talk might be easier on there to talk! cheers!
I'm not using gtalk atm. Sorry.
Be sure the driver you downloaded is named usb_driver_rev4.zip: http://drivers.softpedia.com/dyn-postdownload.php?p=139077&t=4&i=1
If Windows doesn't detects any driver in that uncompressed folder, you can choose to select the device from a list, point to that folder and force to install the driver. It's named something like Android ADB Interface.

Thanks for the download link, i going to try this in a bit and get back to you! thanks for the support guys! :good:
Just tried, i put my phone into Media Transfer Mode.. my computer tried to install the MTP usb device and i directed the installation to the driver you linked..
Update Driver Software says: the best driver software for your device is already installed MTP USB DEVICE, there is a small yellow triangle on the icon and in MTP USB Device Properties it says: This device cannot start. (Code 10)
i need someone to Teamviewer with me, for the record i don't have the Sony Ericsson software installed on my Computer because that still wont install the drivers for my phone, i also know its not needed for installing new kernel and roms.
i tried connecting this phone to a bunch of pcs including my friends and it still fails to install any drivers!!! i think i am just going to bin this phone! i have had enough (
You must install that driver when you plug the phone in fastboot mode. It shouldn't work in any other case. In other words, when you plug your Xperia Play being powered on and Android is running it needs one driver, and when you boot it in fastboot mode you need other driver.
Please, install the driver following the steps previously posted with your phone in fastboot mode (blue LED).
Hello, i put my phone into fastboot mode, my device manager shows 1 device not installed S1Boot Fastboot, i right click go to properties and click update driver...
then i browse my computer for driver software i point the location to usb_driver_rev4\usb_driver and it says: Windows was unable to install your s1Boot fastboot!
Ok, let's see...
Try to update the driver using the "choose from a list" option to force the installation, point to the driver folder and select "Android ADB Interface" from the list. If Windows shows a warning message don't worry about it and go ahead.
i tryed this and its not wanting to work (
Sorry to hear that because I don't have any more ideas for your problem.
Maybe you may spend some minutes searching in the forum to find some detail that can help you.
i need someone with teamviewer to help me go though the setup process again, if anyone is willing to get my phone working i will happy pay them some money!
Thanks Jcarbox for all your support!
Regards
Paul
I just check the Windows device manager with my phone plugged in bootloader mode and it appears as Android Bootloader Interface, so this is the device you must choose from the list when you install the driver.
Hope this helps you.

hi PsychoShaft,
I had similar problems. I don't know how to fix it permanently. but i do this to make it work for some time.First, download flashtool and install it.Open your device manager and select view->show hidden drivers. Then, delete all your drivers related to xperia play. like the adb interface, semc flash ,etc. All of them in all categories. then reboot your computer into safe mode with administrator and connect your device with flashtool running in your windows in safe mode. then the flashtool will indicate that you don't have the drivers. then, open the drivers folder in flashtool and use the setup to install arc-play-...,flashmode drivers and fastboot mode drivers.then after the installation is over windows will ask you to reboot.now reboot with your mobile connected. after boot windows will automatically install the drivers. then unplug your phone and turn off it and connect in flash/fastboot mode.it will automatically install drivers.wait for windows to say drivers installed successfully or installation failed. don't unplug it in the middle of the process then you will have to start from first.sometimes it will not work in the first time ,then reboot into safe mode and try again installing the drivers and rebooting into safe mode itself and connecting your device.at one point of time flashtool will say your device is connected in flas/fastboot mode.then continue with flashing
Gladwin.
Thanks for the support guys i managed to solve the issue!

Hi and thanks for taking the time to read this
My brother tried to do the update of his nexus through the phone download (not through the sd card or connecting to a computer). Since this it will not start up and if i go to download mode it says that it is downloading constantly (have left for hours).
I can make it to the clockworkmod recovery v6.0.1.0 but unfortunately my brother didnt make a backup before trying to update to 4.2 jellybean.
The unfortunate part of this equation is that i cant access the phone via usb as the drivers wont install and the phone doesnt have an sd card slot except the sim card slot. So placing the correct files on the phone is proving too hard for me to complete.
Sorry if this situation has been covered before but i have searched for about 1.5 hours now to no avail. I would very much appreciate if someone can take me through how to get this phone working in any way possible (i dont care if he loses all data and goes back to stock).

CWM recovery offers the ADB interface. I would:
1. get the naked driver package (see Efrant's guide)
2. boot device into recovery and connect usb cable
3. open windows device manager, find your device and manually update the driver
4. use adb to backup the /sdcard to your computer
5. flash 4.2 stock images using fastboot
6. done

op, if you just want to get the device to working state again, and dont care about any data:
1. get the naked driver package (see Efrant's guide)
2. boot device into bootloader and connect usb cable
3. open windows device manager, find your device and manually update the driver
5. flash 4.2 stock images using fastboot
step 3 is the same, the same procedure, the same driver; windows is dumb so you have to tell it again when device is in bootloader (which, btw, is NOT the same as download mode).
Hi and thank you for the replies.
I have downloaded the naked driver but cant get it to work. I have followed the steps to make it work but i get to the device manager and there is no option for uninstalling current driver (as it has none currently). It only has update driver software (which if i use windows to search for it cant find any) and properties. The Galaxy Nexus icon in the device manager has the yellow exclamation mark sign on it. I can
When i try to manually find the naked driver it comes up with the following error
Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.
Google Galaxy Nexus ADB Interface
Access Denied.
Where to from here lads, i appreciate the input

if you're using windows 7, i read something about you need to disable windows digital driver signature check, or something in those lines.
can't help any further on that subject, since i'm a Linux user (Windows knowledge is very limited) and also that is an operating system's issue and would be better discussed in a Windows forum, IMO.

Thank you for another helpful reply! Yes i am using windows 7 - i will try to perform the task now - results soon. In the meantime if anyone else knows instructions on how to do this i would love to hear
I am at work and dont have administrator settings on windows 7 so i went to an older computer and started fastboot.exe. I went to recover and there was the IP address of the computer went to that and recovered. From there i went to reboot and now i am just getting a Google in the middle of the phone (as before). I will wait some time to see if it will start up now. If not what is my plan?
So i havent got any closer to having a usable phone.
Im up to this step:
"flash 4.2 stock images using fastboot" how do i do this? i have fastboot and i have the stock image

Problems with ZYNC Z930
Hi,
I got new ZYNC Z930 Tablet with Android 4.0 ICS installed. When I connect the tablet to my laptop with Windows 7 64 bit OS, the Windows recognizes as Composite Device and fails to install the drivers. I also tried manually downloading the drivers from the location that you have specified and manually point to install from the downloaded location but does not help.
I have connected the Tablet to Laptop with USB cable provided with Z930 Box. Do I need to connect using USB 2.0 cable for both ends???
Please help here...
Thanks in advance
Lokesh
Hi Lokesh, Please dont use 64 bit Win 7, use any computer with 32 bit Windows and drivers I supplied will work fine. You just need to connect the mini usb cable. Rest of the process please follow exactly as on the post.
Jelly Bean 4.1.1 upgrade on Z930 Successful
Hi Abdul,
Your steps helped a lot and later I contacted the ZYNC Customer Care located in Noida, even they also provided the same bundled the package.
I'm successfully able to upgrade to Jelly Bean 4.1.1 but after upgrading my tablet's WiFi stopped working I mean, when I switch in the Wifi, it keeps on searching for the Wifi Networks indefinitely. Did you face this problem?? Any solutions for this ???
Next, I'm going to try out your steps for Rotting the Z930.
Thanks
Lokesh,,,
WiFi on Z930 with Jelly Bean 4.1.1 works fine
Hi Adbul,
The Wifi issue got resolved after flashing the Jelly Bean binary on to Z930.
Did you try removing the default applications with the ROM?
Are you able to successfully Root the Device and FLASH any other custom ROMs on Z930??
If so,,, can you please share the steps / softwares used / links???
Also, Btw, what's the battery backup you are getting with Z930???
Thanks in advance

Hi...
Nothing much complicated, I just flashed the Jelly Bean Image using th steps given by the ZYNC and then, switched on the Wifi. By default, the Wifi will block the poorer networks, if you go to Advanced Options of Wifi and remove that, it will work fine.
Thanks

Thanks Lokesh, this tip has helped me in WiFi issue. I noticed an issue with the battery. Either the charging is not effective or the battery is not good - The battery level drops to minimum with in an hour of using just Acrobat PDF Reader (with no WiFi / music / graphics etc).
Also the moment we connect the charger the level shoots up by 10-20% more in 1 second and if we remove the charger the level drops which is funny.
Did you faced any issues with the Battery? I installed 'Juice Defender' now and needs to see if I get any improvement.
Thanks
Satya

Hi, abdul
as per your guide, i had downloaded adb driver.
I'm using 32-bit windows 7.
But when i connect through usb, using usb debugging on, the computer says Windows failed to install drivers.
So, manualy if i go to device manager and select z930 and go to update driver, and then point to the folder adb_driver.
It says windows found the driver, but was unable to install them.
So, can you tell me, how were you able to install the driver?
Do i need to install android sdk?
Please help...!!!
unable to upgrade the tablet...

2) Upgrade without format data and cache area.
3) Only format data and cache area.

when u hold your volume + button, u must not leave the button untill the windows detect ur tab.
By the way, is that zync z930 tablet or some other tab.?
If u have z930, i have the PDF file which u can use to easily upgrade to JB.
It has detailed steps, sent by zync customer care to upgrade.
