this morning I got unfourtunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped and cannot get the phone to boot without constantly hitting the "OK"
I see there is no signal, and can see in the phone information that the radio is turned off. I have an app that used to get to the screen but now it hangs due to the phone has stopped issue.
Is there any way I can turn the radio on by using some code with the dialer pad?
I have tried recovering 3 other nand backups, but none work. all have the same result.
Thanks for any help someone might be able to give me!
It is a rooted samsung galaxy s4 M919 from t-mobile
is it stock rooted or what ROM are you running ?what kernel? what settings ? what mods? we need some detail sir but for starters if you can get it to boot try *#2263# and if its not set to automatic try clicking your options auto is the default setting

Remove your sd card sim card and battery let set 10 minutes put back in see if the message is still present if so you might need a new sim card.

I have tried both of the above suggestions and no joy!
I have 2 nandroid backups that were done when the phone was working fine, and recovering either one has the very same symptoms.
I'm not sure that all the phone is backed up or restored in entirety, unless there it a hardware fault in this phone. It's 31 days old today..... :<(
if anyone else has any ideas, I'm all ears!
Thanks!
Might just be a lemon. I would just flash back to stock then take the phone and get a replacement.

You still have given us no details on what you are running, stock, rooted, touchwiz, aosp. Do you know how to Odin back to stock? Sounds to me what happens when you flash a modem not meant for the phone.

Odin back to stock I would think should alleviate your problem. I flashed an international modem when I was running omega rom and got flash happy when I was drunk. Had the exact same problem you are describing odin to stock worked for me

Yo Tyler!
I was not drunk nor did I flash anything, it was going fine and suddenly, poof!,,,,,
Anyway, I tried your suggestion and IT WORKED! I also saw, (I don't know how/why) all my apps being installed automatically!
Well, almost all anyway. I had to install only maybe 3 apps, and that was all. Even my keyboard configuration that I made lots of cosmetic changes to- via the apps setup, was like I had set it up as... Weird, but great for me!
Thanks for your suggestion. It's quite odd, as one of the nandroid backups was made using the exact rom image that I used to Odin back to stock....
Nevertheless, as the Hawaiians say, MAHALO NUI LOA! Tyler No Ka OI (Tyler is the best)
Aloha...
Glad I could help. The modem isn't in your back up that's why back ups won't fix this problem. As for apps, it's from syncing your Google account. Aloha

Hi All,
I'm am absolutely stumped and have tried what feels like everything I can to resolve my issue to no avail. So, I'm hoping to find success from the wisdom of the seasoned XDA community.
I have an SGH-T999 with baseband UVDMD5. In early September, my camera stopped working. When I open the camera app, I'm greeted with the infamous "Can't connect to camera" message. The front camera works fine (via Skype), but the rear camera does not. I've tried all of the following but the camera still won't work:
1) Unrooted and re-flashed the stock root66;
2) Finding the correct "SLIM_ISP.bin" file, placing them in the /data folder, and set the permissions to 777;
3) Re-flashed the stock UVDMD5 bootloader, firmware, and modem;
4) Took the phone to a shop to have a new camera installed and they couldn't get the new hardware to work either (so, it's definitely software related);
5) Cleared the app cache and fixing permissions in recovery;
6) Restored a Nandroid from a previous state of the device when the camera was fully operational;
I don't know what else to do. PLEASE help me folks. I really want my camera back. Thank you in advance for your time and insight.
I've attached a Catlog I recorded while attempting to open the camera, if that helps at all.
just a thought , but if you have a nandroid backup could you uninstall current camera and then grab camera from nandroid and install it ?
or if have titanium backup hit the install button on camera apk (even though its already there). these methods have worked for me with browser issues.
just an idea.
good luck.
err on the side of kindness
Have you considered replacing the camera hw? It's very easy to do and the part usually costs less than $10.

Hi Doc, I tried that. Sorry. Should have listed it. I took it to a shop to have a new camera installed and they couldn't get the new hardware to work either. So, it's definitely software related.
Thanks for the suggestion though. Please let me know if you have any other ideas.

mrrocketdog,
Would that work if the camera doesn't work even when the Nandroid is restored (despite that fact that the camera was functional when the Nandroid was created)? Thank you.
At this point I think that would be worth a shot. If it doesn't work though I'd have to say it sounds like it could be hardware related, even though you replaced the module. Might be a problem on the motherboard or something like that.
The only other thing I can think to try though is to flash a 4.1.1 rom. Then using the hidden code to write the camera firmware to the device. If the firmware got corrupted somehow, this could fix it. The problem though, is if you've updated to 4.3 firmware, it probably won't work. They patched against our ability to write the cameras firmware ourselves. If this was done in the controlling app, it may just work. However, if it was patched in the base firmware, there won't be any way I know of to do this.
I'll post the code in a min. Gotta hunt it down again...

Ok here are the codes:
*#34971539#
*#7412365#
Enter in the stock dialer.
I'm pretty sure the first one is the one you need, but both are camera codes which is why I gave both.
If it works, it will open a menu called Camera Firmware Std
You can check the firmware versions first if you like. If the phone fw is older than the cam fw, and you do this, it is possible you could loose some features. But if so, I imagine flashing the device firmware again will update back to where it should be.
To write the camera firmware, just choose Phone to Cam FW Write.
Good luck!

i think that would be the point. the camera was functioal when the nand was created.
dont know exact function , but what about going into recovery and fixing permissions.
and going into settings>apps>camera and clearing cache ? wouldnt take but a minute and it already doesnt work so....

Thank you for your response and the suggestions.
That point makes complete sense. However, what I'm saying is that I've restored s Nandroid from a state when the camera was functional. However, the camera still doesn't work despite restoring a Nandroid from a previously operational state. So, please correct me if I'm wrong, but, considering that, what good would extracting the apk from the Nandroid do if restoring the entire Nandroid doesn't make the camera work?
Regarding your second suggestion, I have tried clearing the app cache and fixing permissions, but it didn't work. I'll add this to my list of attempted fixes in my original post.
Thank you very much mrrocketdog. I sincerely appreciate your continued interest and support. I hope we can figure this out.

Hi DocHoliday77,
Thank you very much for the reply and the suggestion. Your advice seems sound.
I'm not sure what you mean by "controlling app." I'm afraid my knowledge is too limited to tell you if I've flashed the 4.3 firmware.
Not sure if this helps, but I have intentionally not upgraded beyond the stock baseband UVDMD5 version. I understand the baseband versions following UVDMD5 are bad due to the addition of KNOX and the inability to flash back to previous baseband versions.
Currently, I have flashed Carbon rom, which states the Android version is 4.4.4. However, I don't know if the Android version number is reflective of the firmware.
Regarding flashing a 4.1.1 rom, is there a rom you suggest that would be better for this than others? Should I just grab an older version of Carbon or would it be best to use Odin to flash back to a stock root66 version of 4.1.1 ?
Btw, not sure if you saw, but I uploaded a Catlog I recorded while trying to launch the camera app. I don't know if that will reveal anything or not. I can't make two cents of Catlogs other than to identify that errors are occurring. I really hope this isn't a faulty motherboard.
Thank you again for your continued interest and support. I really appreciate your advice. It means a lot. I hope we are able to resolve this.
If you never updated beyond 4.1.2, you can fully downgrade to 4.1.1 and try that method I posted. The app is just the one that controls the cameras dialer code. You don't really need to worry about it. Don't remember which it is right now anyway...
If you like though, first just flash stock 4.1.2. The code might work there. I just can't remember if it was patched there or in 4.3. You'll know you need 4.1 1 if you open it and the firmware write choice is greyed out.
I suggest just flashing the root66 firmware rather than a rom. This way everything you need is included. If it does solve the problem you can flash back to whatever you like.

Ok Doc. I flashed root66 T999 UVDLJC (Official JB Firmware - Latest JB 4.1.1 Firmware). After rebooting the phone, I entered the first code you provided - *#34971539# - into the phone dialer. This pulls up an all black screen with a gray colored placeholder/header at the top that reads, "CameraFirmware Standard." Again, other than the gray header and title, the rest of the screen is all black with no text or anything, except for the notification bar at the very top. Then, after sitting on that screen for a few seconds, it closes and the message, "Unfortunately, Factory Test has stopped," displays in a pop-up message.
I can make my assumptions about what that means, but I'd prefer your opinion. What do you think?
Thank you again for your time, insight, and assistance. I respectfully look forward to your response.
p.s. Just to clarify my experience for potential future readers, the second code you provided - *#7412365# - didn't work. It displayed, "Unable to process request" in a pop-up message.
That tells me that the system is most likely having problems communicating with the camera.
I'd open it up and make sure it's properly connected. It's very easy to do. You can find disassembly videos on YouTube if you want to see what to look for first.
If the shop couldn't get a new one to work, I'm honestly not sure what else you can try. It does sound like a hardware issue though. My best guess is its got something to do with the motherboard.

No wifi
I love love love this ROM, it's incredibly fast, I've got the debloated version. But I have no wifi on it. The wifi stays off and when I try to turn it on it flips right back to off again. Any suggestions? I wiped, cache, dalvik, everything before and after and reinstalled once. Will reinstall again.
I'm using TWRP vs CWM-would that make a difference?

I had tried several, but wipe completely each time. It might've been one of the Lollipops right before. I wondered if it had anything to do with the kernal? I don't know much about that aspect of it.

Yes kernel controls hardware related things including wifi if I'm not mistaken. Which kernel are you using? The stock kernel included with the rom or a custom kernel?

I didn't ever specifically change kernels (if that's possible). I just installed 4 or 5 different ROMs over the course of the past few wks to see which I liked. I made back ups of my original stock/rooted ROM and several that I liked. I've got SlimKat ROM on here now, would it do any good for me to go into settings and see which kernel it is? Probably not, I suspect.

Ok no that's cool. Yes it's possible to change kernels, but since you didn't flash a different one that means you had the stock kernel (which is included with the rom and works fine). Just to be sure, you have the N5110 model, right?

Ok cool thanks. Really not sure what the wifi issue on your setup might be. Works fine here and for other users as far as I see. I did a quick Google searche and the top solutions seem to be a factory reset, the "wifi fixer" app in the Play Store, or possibly trying different settings/channels/reboot on your router. If nothing works, then it might be because something got corrupted in the base over time by flashing different TW/AOSP ROMs, in which case it might be worthwhile to Odin stock firmware from sammobile and then install this rom and test. Might be more hassle for you than it's worth (especially if your other ROMs already work fine), but just trying to provide options lol. You could also try Regular instead of Debloated to see if there is any difference in wifi for you there.

I appreciate your input very much! I love this rom. I've got it installed again messing around with it while the Regular version is downloading. (I'm bestowed with slow rural internet). I'll let you know if Regular works better. It's probably going to bug me enough as to why it doesn't work that I'll go to the trouble of going back to stock, re-downloading and trying it fresh

Enable Android Encryption
Has anyone been able to successfully enable android encryption using this rom? I tried with the Deodexed version, safe boot, turning off SuperSU and haven't been able to get it to start encrypting properly. I need it since I have policy looking for encrypted state before I can allow mail to be made available.
Many thanks in advance!

wifi won't turn on
Hi, I've flashed both the regular version and the debloated version on my N5110 after clean wipes.
The wifi will not turn on in either case.
I've done factory resets from within settings.
Any ideas?
I've read the thread, the Q&A thread, and done a google search to no avail....
I'm coming from stock 4.2.2 (rooted and unlocked of course) where everything worked... it just seemed to have a pretty short battery life.
I've reinstalled the nandroid backup and wifi still works there.
I'd really like to try this.
Thanks for your hard work as a developer by the way

Not sure...Works fine here but I saw another user report this a while back. The others said all working fine so I'm assuming something may have got corrupted on your setup along the way. Perhaps you can try using odin to flash the latest stock firmware for your device from sammobile.com, then try installing twrp through odin and finally my rom through twrp. Best way to eliminate variables and start fresh

Thanks for confirming! Yes flashing different roms can corrupt system files so a fresh odin install is always a good way to start clean. No issues here with the tablet shutting down..could possibly be due to a rogue app conflicting with something or an xposed module. As for battery life I agree. Not worse than stock but not better either. The built-in battery is now also probably less efficient than it used to be, as they all do over time. Sammy should have put a bigger battery in this tablet!

Hello sefrcoko
my Note N5110 currently has the stock fw 4.2.2.
Once I have root and custom recovery, can I directly flash your rom?
Or I have to flash the stock fw 4.4.2 before your rom?
Thanks a lot
Bye
I recently flashed an FM Radio app on my Note 3 (rooted SM-N900T w/CM 12.1), flashed without issue but ever since then I do not have sound through my earpiece. I am unable to take calls unless I use a headset or use the speakerphone. I have already wiped and reflashed, not only CM 12.1 again, but have also done a full factory reset and flashed stock as well but the problem persists. Anyone have a clue to get the sound back in the earpiece? This is driving me up the wall!

Not sure if you've resolved the issue yet, but I'll try to help if you haven't. You could try formatting everything in recovery instead of just wiping. Format all except your external sd of course, and then try to flash a ROM. If that doesn't work you'll probably need to use Odin to flash stock firmware and re-root and so forth. That should definitely clear up the issue if simply formatting and flashing a ROM doesn't work.
For future reference, do not flash any FM apps. It probably messes up the drivers and the apps won't work correctly for us at the moment regardless. Our N900T has an FM chip but it's not active at the moment. However, our team is currently trying to find a driver to get it functioning.

Hello and thank you for the reply, this issue is still very much unresolved so your help is much appreciated! I have already tried using Odin to flash stock firmware to no avail, the problem still persists, however I will certainly try formatting everything in recovery and hopefully that'll clear things up, that didn't even dawn on me to try. Thank you for the suggestion, I will report back my results here. And absolutely will NOT be flashing any FM apps in the near future!

Ah man... that doesn't sound good if Odin didn't fix it. No pun intended. Lol
Yeah hopefully formatting will do the trick. If not it almost seems like a hardware issue and the speaker actually went out. Using Odin and stock firmware should flash back all the correct drivers.

I had such high hopes for the formatting but unfortunately it did not work. I formatted everything in recovery and used Odin to reinstall stock but the problem persists. I can't imagine the FM app killing the earpiece as it worked prior to flashing the F'n thing but I guess I'm stuck to using a headset! If you have any other suggestions let me know. :good:

I personally don't know of anything else to do. You've gone through all the steps to fix it I believe. Like I said, it does sound like a hardware problem now.

So i attempted to root my phone using this link www(dot)naldotech(dot)com/download-odin3-v3-10-6-galaxy-s6-note-5
Which i now realize is not for the sprint version of the s6...
anyways now when i boot nothing works other then the hardware buttons so no service, touchscreen, camera etc. so i want to know if there is a way to recover my photos before reflashing to stock?
Any ideas? thanks
