KK 4.4.2 Issues - Sprint LG G2

Kinda made this to be a catch-all KK issue thread.
I've been on this forum for many years and would you believe my post count <10. Anyways....
I have flashed the Liquidsmooth LS-KK-v3.0-2014-03-18 with the dr87 kernel. Great ROM. Quick. Speedy. Best battery life I've ever had on a smartphone.
Having issues with random reboots also with A2DP. I know A2DP hasn't been right for a long time. Also having issues with the updater nagging about a new update even though I'm on the latest release. The download usually fails a MD5 check anyways.
Thoughts?

yea im on AOKP 4.4.2 for about 3 weeks now. since its my favorite rom. Anyways i have experienced random reboots and poor data connections.

This has been discussed for months. All AOSP 4.4 ROMs suffer from random reboots/freezes, poor sound quality, etc. It's the kernel, once devs incorporate the new LG KK kernel source, these issues should be fixed. Before that though, Sprint has to release the damn update.
Patience, grasshoppers. It will all be well soon enough. :good:

Source DROP!
It's here, it's here... well the source at least!

I've been running this rom [ROM] [VECTUS] GN5 Project AOSP [V0.0] 4.4.2 (03-22-2014) since release and it doesn't have any of the problems they you've mentioned. The only thing that has occurred is the screen randomly turning on. no freezing, reboots, or lockups.

I am definitely looking forward to 100% working aosp roms they are so smooth. Cant wait for kk release ?

CM/AOKP/AOSPA kernel source will usually vary from "stock" source that LG provides for various reasons. Changes are more fluid on those AOSP projects as they're keeping up usually with sources like CAF.
I tried with Furnace kernel and with the exception of losing data after trying to tether it was great. So your mileage may vary.

Not being a troll or anything but it says you just joined 5 months ago October 2013, not many years ago.

I've found my bluetooth button that used to activate voice mate now does nothing. Seems to be an issue with Nexus phones as well read? I'm on stock 4.4.2.
I've also noticed wifi seems flaky and I have to toggle it to get internet working after it seems to hang.

My data connection on 3g is slower than dial up no matter where I am, battery life is not that amazing either. Also the sound is very low, like I am still running an aosp rom. Music player in lockscreen is not full screen like it was on kk roms before. Not super impressed honestly.

I think you can change the max volume and music player in lock screen using xposed modules.

Yeah I know you can do that. Just thought the sound would be back to normal since I'm on a stock rom now.

I have a problem. I'm getting too much screen on time now.
And the XDA app hasn't been updated in 2 years.

Anyone have trouble syncing bookmarks. Can't get them to sync. Only have local at top of bookmarks. Gmail bookmarks not showing up at top where you can switch between local and gmail acct.
Fixed it. Took a chromebrowser sync apk from another rom put in system apps, correct permissions and good to go. Just incase someone else has this problem.

Ok here's what happened. I bricked my phone a month ago. I took it to Sprint in Northern Florida for repair. The guy tot my phone. I was worried at first as he kept saying kdz file. He seemed like he really didn't know what to do. He got it working again but I had frequent data drops and battery sucked. Kit Kat didn't fix any of these problems after resets. I finally two nights ago used the tot on my own and now battery is phenomenal. I got 6 hours sot yesterday. Only problem I'm having now is that I don't use Bluetooth and its off. It's my number one battery hog. Any suggestions? I thought the info about the tot might be helpful for those with battery issues where factory reset hasn't helped.
Sent from my LG-LS980 using xda app-developers app

Try to use the tot file to downgrade to 4.2.2 or 4.3 if available.
Sent from my LG-D800 using xda app-developers app

I read some are doing a master reset after doing tot. I'm showing bluetoothe @ 2% even though its off after full tot. Battery life is good so far.

Im seeing bluetooth at 5% and its off.. f'ing bluetooth man

High pitch screeching sound when playing music?

So uh, I've been using the AOKP ROM for awhile now along with KTs kernel and everything has been running fine. That is until yesterday when I was on my way back to Toronto from a trip and suddenly in the middle of a song a loud, high pitch screech went off in my ears(Scared the crap out of me). At first I thought it was my headphones, but after unplugging em and hitting play, the screech was coming through the speaker as well. The odd thing is, it's only with certain songs that it does it. Was thinking of flashing a new ROM/kernel combo to see if that fixes it. Anyone else ever experience this/have another fix?

I've got my sgh-I747 running latest OTA from at&t rooted and using TWRP recovery. When I use the aux in on my car stereo in conjunction with my charger I get a horrible whine with cracking and popping. Read a couple posts where ppl said they were able to exchange their device for a new one that did not have the same problem so I may be going that route with mine. Keep me posted if you resolve your issues.

Try changing your voltages back to stock. Also change your min CPU to 384.
Reboot and it should be fixed. Either that or try a different kernel but I was experiancing this as well

I have owned MANY android phones and they all do this. Its a shame. As soon as the charger gets plugged in it causes interferance with the 3.5mm output. Motorola, Samsung,HTC. They all do it.
But it won't do it if you use Bluetooth lol

Well seems like I fixed it this morning. Just reflashed the latest AOKP available and switched over to Faux's kernel and the problem seems to be gone for the time being. If anything, try a diff kernel/ROM combo and see what if that fixes it.

How do you like the AOKP build. I'm new to android. I've been using jailbroken iOS for several years now. Android takes some getting used to but I'm really starting to dig it.
I noticed yesterday on the way home that the noise is only present when the device is both plugged into the charger and there is no audio broadcast. So in between songs or pauses in a radio app like tune-in radio. So not as bad as I thought but still kinda embarrassing. When you are showing how cool android is to your iOS friends

Haha don't ya just hate that? Trying to show off your phone and all of a sudden it's screaming at you? Talk about a downer.
But AOKP I just love. It's what I've been using for almost 2 years on all my devices. The customization and performance is just amazing. Hands down my favorite ROM. Like, I've tried the stock based ones, Cyanogen and others, but they just don't fulfill my needs like AOKP does. Get the right kernel combo/setup going with it and you'll be satisfied for a good amount of time if not forever

I had this problem as well, switched off of ktoonsez kernel and it was gone. I strongly believe that his kernel, as amazing as it is, is the cause behind the noise.

Bringing this thread back to life. Got an AT&T Samsung GS3 running CM10 Stable (10.0.0) with the stock kernel and when I plug the phone into my car's AUX system, there is a loud very high pitched / high frequency whine that is continuous, but only happens when the phone goes into audio-out mode... if the phone isn't doing anything, there is no whine, but as soon as I press "play" on the music player or turn pandora on, the whine comes on and continues throughout music play.
I tried plugging in my headphones (Klipsch S2) and there is no high-pitched noise that I can hear.
Is there a fix yet? Anyone else running CM10 stable having this problem?
Thanks!!

For the reboots, are you on the jb bootloader? As for Bluetooth, try turning your bt device on, then turning on bt fir the phone
It's called nightly for a reason. They're unstable builds that gradually progress. If you can't handle the bugs, stick with the stable build.

no special bootloader. cm10.1. no special kernel either. whatever comes with the build is what im using. the bt used to work fine then this started happening.

i get that these are unstable..... how come then was it working just fine at one point then it all went to **** after updating with one of the rc's and/or nightlys? if they are supposed to get progressively better then how do you explain this??

Nobody said that they get progressively better. They progress as they add new features or tweaks that tend to break other things. Fixing one problem may cause another to show up. If every build was to improve the rom, it would be stable in a month, but that's not how it works.
The bluetooth issue has been beat to death in the i747 cyanogenmod development thread. All you can do is wait till they fix the issue. Just flash back to a build with the bt working and follow the development thread. I'm sorry if this comes out in the wrong way.

Sprint LG G2 no love?

So Ive never had a device (even on sprint) that has no development to be seen within a weeks period of time. I believe the Root we have is from other devices and the CM 10.2 build that was posted was something that was supposed have never seen the light of day and was broken. I totally love this phone but I was really excited for the development aspects since its basically nexus 5 with a different shell. Anyone else with the sprint variant a little worried by the lack of interest?
I'm on the same boat, many probably are.
This phone is still solid stock.. all I really need is tethering... patiently waiting

Development is under way. There are 2 devs working on a CM 10.2 ROM right now and another working on a version of CleanROM for us. Its going to take some time and the phone hasn't been out for a week yet.
Also the CM 10.2 ROM was removed because the build was not tested and verified by the dev to be working and they removed the links to it in case it caused a potential brick to the phone. People who downloaded the ROM say it had GPS lock and rotation issues so you don't want to download the ROM anyways. In fact they saved you the hassle of reverting back to stock or a nandroid backup. Read the last few posts in that CM 10.2 thread to get a sense of the situation.
I am not worried at all about the "lack of interest" in this phone. You have to remember that not all the potential devs have received the phone yet such as garwynn who probably just received the phone today. Lets give the potential devs some time to come out with new ROMs and other mods. There are enough ways currently to mod the current stock ROM anyways through Xposed and other mods like (increase volume).
Its only been a week. Our device was rootable even before Sprint released it. I'm not worried. For now I've been using Greenify + Titanium Backup to keep my phone in battery/performance BEAST MODE.

Install G2 xposed and you'll see you can do a lot of the customization yourself. There's also an xposed kitkat theme in the theme's section by ock. The device is already fast and ignoring aosp roms, you can customize the stock rom to your liking.

I guess I didn't think about the fact that the other variants had been out for a few months already, but I really wasn't trying to comparing them. I was just noticing that compared to devices I've had in the past (even the SGS II which I hated lol) had some things pop up pretty quickly. Also make sure that no one takes this as me complaining, just thinking out loud here.
And as to the xposed stuff, Im atually just interested in some slimed down stock roms and AOSP, but thanks for making sure I knew about it
PS: Ive also had this phone for close to a month so Im probably feeling that rom flash bug harder than most XD

Poll on who took the 4.3 OTA comparing to those who didn't

Okay guys.. I'm really curious to find out why so many people are having the large amounts of issues with the the TouchWiz 4.3 roms.. so here's what I want to know.
Did you sideload/take the official 4.3 update zip, upgrading to the KNOX bootloader.
If you took the update, are you having any issues flashing the roms via TWRP, or do you have to use another (CWM..Philz..)
If you DIDN'T take the the 4.3 update zip, and you're flashing these 4.3 roms are you having MMS issues, FC's and what not?
Same as above, if you DIDN'T take the 4.3 update zip, do you run into errors trying to flash via TWRP.
Thanks, just trying to figure out some things.
Edit: I took the official 4.3 OTA, am running synergy R3 with absolutely zero issue. 12-13 hours of battery life with about 6 hours of screen on time, forcing OC of 1.6ghz, max brightness etc. My MMS works 100% of the time, and the only thing that FC's is Terraria, because it hates life after the christmas update. What I'm trying to figure out here, is if it's better or not to take the 4.3 KNOX bootloader.
I took the update which blocked all my stuff I wanted to do so I flashed back to stock via twrp because the knox bootloader blocked me from flashing with odin. Then I flashed lorjay rom with out the knox bootloader I had a few problems I had to fix but I got it dialed in good now.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I gave synergy a try, but it seemed to have problems with accounts of over 100 contacts (with contact fix). I probably could have worked it out, but I didn't see any noticeable battery life, signal strength or speed improvements over the (now defunct) Goodness Noteworthy I was running. I did notice all the missing theme and style improvements. After a couple of days, I went back. Maybe someone will come up with a MK4 based rom with the "toys" I've become accustomed to? At this point, I'm not overly optimistic.
I haven't taken the OTA 4.3 update or flashed it either. The main reason is some apps I use a lot aren't working yet with it such as WiFi Tether and FolderMount (I think this may be working now). And for what is gained from update, is not worth it to me for what it will cost.
Also synergy r3 and auto reboot from time to time. I am going to try latest CM11 when I have time...
I have not flashed to 4.3 and until I can see any advantage at all I won't.
I bypassed 4.3 Twiz and am already running 4.4.2

[Q] Should I downgrade to ZV8?

Whats up guys!
So Ive been fiddling around with this phone since Ive gotten it, had my fair share of good and bad moments but all good now. However, Ive been realizing that I dont live in a Spark area so these new updates dont seem to have anything worthwile. I also heard that recent OTAs have been affecting the phones data, sometimes knocking people to 3G when they know they are in a 4G area. So for me, I want an opinion. Should I drop down to ZV8? The reason I ask is people dont seem to complain much about it AND people have been able to install CyanogenMod on that radio. Im on ZVD now, and the stock android experience has always been my favorite.
I was just on zv8 seeing if I liked it...
I'm not in a spark area either. But LTE still drops constantly here in Cincinnati anyway. There's also some other little issues with zv8 such as no immersive mode while watching video, the screen tends to do a weird dimming too depending on what's on your screen (with autobrightness off even).
Personally I'd stick with KK.
CM isn't that stable. If your gonna try other aosp based Roms give slimkat a go its been the best/bugfree for me...and no need to downgrade your baseband

Id be able to move up to KK with CM no? And I know its not very stable, even when I had it on my old Optimus G it still had its quirks but nothing I couldnt deal with. But those bugs with ZV8 do sound annoying, and I did stumble upon slimkat but for some reason I was turned off by it. I guess Ill give it a try.

But those bugs with ZV8 do sound annoying, and I did stumble upon slimkat but for some reason I was turned off by it. I guess Ill give it a try.

Cm is kk yes I believe...but you need the old zv8 baseband still to get it to boot which breaks autorotation. There may be a hacked radio somewhere on these forums but I forget. Personally it scares me changing radios as I've seen devices get hard bricked from it.

Yeah I was going to downgrade through a ZV8 tot, that would work correct?

Oops, wrong thread
could read through this,, dont think you have to downgrade..http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2627765
I did and had attempted that before with no luck. I was able to install CM but had no service as the radio was not compatible still.
