Google Android - Nokia X

Hello,
I would like to know how many things does not work with the modified android if someone can list them it would be great. I am thinking of buying Nokia XL and I would like to be informed because I did one mistake with N9 and I don't want to repeat it.
Peace

any app that requires google play services will not work, however if you install gapps, it will work. so 99% of the apps compatible with 4.1.2 will work.

Thank you for the replay but I was wondering about Kitkat 4.4 and not that much from the apps than the phone. If the OS is working properly, I read somewhere that the notifications does not work and the compass etc etc. My idea is if I can use a normal working android phone with Kit kat 4.4 but I need to know if this is gonna work if not I would buy another brand.

KK will work but it will be less performant then JB 4.2.2 or earlier. thats because the gpu (adreno 200) dosent support 4layer composition.
notifications do work. they do appear in the notification shade or in fastlane. i tried it on emulator back in pre release days.

FitBit Sync Support for CyanogenMod 10.0/10.1 or any AOSP ROMS

Hi all
I might be the only one using this constellation but I have a fitbit one tracker that should support i9300 Bluetooth synching. It looks like this support is limited to official Android 4.1.2 ROMs or any adaptions of those. CyanogenMod ROMs do not work. Anyone got a 10.0 or 10.1 nightly for the i9300 running with their FitBits ?
Same here. Fitbit sync worked with stock and also worked with SynergyROM but doesn't work with CM10.
I am having the same issue. My question is does the CM10 not support low-power Bluetooth (4.0)? Or is the Fitbit app checking the phone version somehow. If the latter is the case, we should be able to forge the signature on the phone config to be a standard GS3.
What do you think?
Updates?
also wondering this - put liquidsmooth on parents' gs3s and now theyre complaining
I would also like to see support for this, especially on the S3.

I'll just chime in with my agreement - it would be nice to see this working for my fitbit and my VZW GS3 running CM 10.1
+1 Here
Same issues already described.+1 to see support for GS3. Any guidance would be appreciated.
Me as well! Really desperate for this!
Same here
Doesn't work for me either
Yeah, bummed that Fitbit One doesn't work for me either on cyanogenmod.

+1 for this fix, I love the FitBit App on my stock Samsung Galaxy S3 (TMO) and would love to have the syncing working on CM. I'm running 10.2-20130401-NIGHTLY-d2tmo right now.
Bump for the inclusion of BT 4.0 driver stack into CM.
FITBIT
It's April 19th and still no response for support???
Hi Guys,
I love CM but I've also been running a stock derivative so I can sync my Fitbit One. I'm not familiar with Androids insides, but wouldn't it be possible for Fitbit to implement their own Bluetooth stack in software and bypass the stock stack for syncing. I realise you would still need a device with Bluetooth 4.0 hardware, but theoretically there would be many other handsets that could then sync, not to mention all of us modders out there. If this is possible, then perhaps we could ask Fitbit for support.
Nothing useful with this post, i just wanted to say that I would also like this to possibly happen in the future. I know the next android update 4.3 is bringing this feature, so perhaps it may not be long at all..

+1 for possible fix/workaround. Would be nice to get the sync with the Fitbit Flex back - great feature, shame to lose it on non-stock ROMs.

Lollipop Xposed Finally!!

Which is great, but none of the modules work for me. I know it's in alpha, so there's work to do. Some reports of bootloops, but a lot of users appear to be having a perfect ride. I had no problem installing the zip and then the APK, and I gave it root access just fine. It's just that no mods work.
I'm asking here if anyone has had success on the G3. Maybe there's something unique to our device that makes it glitchy. There are a lot of Nexus and other devices having a good go. Here's a screen shot with the mods I loaded. Yeah, I know Lollipop has Smart Lock, but that's been hit or miss for me, so I tried the xposed mod for that.
Any G3's rocking xposed? If so, did you do anything different than is outlined in the OP?

There are no G3 "rocking" xposed. It's only a first alpha release, meant for people who know java, art and xposed and are able and willing to help Rovo debug it on various phones.
Simply put, it doesn't work yet. Wait for a stable release.

Sorry of "rocking" rubbed you the wrong way. What if I asked if anyone was wearing xposed like a boss? Rovo didn't present is as something to be tested by a select few here or on Google+. It is more like: You've been waiting for this, and here it is. It's in alpha, so you might well see glitches. Give it a try.
I'm not saying he was careless with his presentation. I'm saying Rovo didn't intend for this to be an underground test specifically for those proficient with Java and art.
I've been on discussion board for ten years or so, and I've always had the problem of using too many words to ask a simple question. In this case it's: Has anyone got xposed to work with a G3 on Lollipop?

Sorry, my bad, i misunderstood you.
Yeah, it's working, as good as alpha should. Both on cm12 and stock 20h. However, it conflicts with smart cover and weather services on stock rom, so they have to be frozen or deleted. It also needs selinux to be in permissive mode.
Modules made for user apps (AppSettings, youtube in background, etc) work, modules like cpu frequency or temp in status bar work, coolTool would probably work too.
Massive tweakers, like g3 tweaksbox or gravity box + most framework tweaks (halo, multiwindow, etc etc etc) need massive updates to work on L.
Sorry for being quite ignorant

Verizon vs International Sections

I am starting to do my research since i'm looking for a newer budget phone.. This Moto Z Play seems to be a great phone for my needs / wants.
I am getting confused because I know there is a Droid (verizon) version and an International version. Specifically when it relates to ROOT.
Does anyone know if XDA will split this forum into a Verizon and International Version? (I see this on most other phones / variants)
Thank you.
There is no reason for xda to split the international vs the droid version. The droid version will never get an official bootloader unlock and likely will not get an unofficial bootloader unlock. The only way to root the droid version is to use the dirty cow exploit which works on both versions. In the unlikely event that the droid version gets a bootloader unlock and rom support, roms may support both devices due to the hardware being the same aside from the radios. Even if they didnt it would be easy to tell which is which because devs would put [XT1635-01] for the droid version and [XT1635-02] for the international.

I have not tried it, but it is supposed to work with every android phone that has not recieved an ota for a couple weeks (even then it might still work). I dont have a link to anything and i dont know if xda would allow me to post or pm a link either, so you will have to use google. There is a github with a proof of concept that may or may not work.

perhaps.. I just get picky using my physical buttons all of the time. So I enjoyed either custom ROMs that had power menu button, screen shot, and sleep all baked in. Or use xposed to get those features using gravity box.
but I saw the moto z play lets you wake and sleep with fingerprint.. so thats a majority of what I like root for.. but want to get rid of bloatware.. make custom sounds.. etc...

If you use a 3rd party file explorer you can use your own sounds, it should give you an option when you try to change your notification or ringtone. You should be able to also add custom ringtones and notification sounds to the Ringtones and Notifications folders in /storage/emulated/0/ and it should show up in the regular menu. You can kinda get rid of bloatware by disabling it in app info, some apps wont let you disable them though (like google play services). I'm still on stock and have disabled all google services (except google play services which i denied all permissions to) and put on a 3rd party launcher.

I do need the gps, a lot might install it later and make a TWRP image of it later for certain occasions
very excited to see MM available on the heavily neglected $1000 tab
does it have the same multi window style that the p900 had' drag from top corners to make floating window and swipe from side for tray?
I really don't like the new multi window style on the Note 5 / newer, seems inferior
Really want to flash this but don't want to lose gps either... decisions, decisions. Camera I can do without.
Some feedback
Hi, yesterday I tried your ROM and it's very nice !
Unfortunately, I enconter some bugs: GPS and Camera has you know but also bluetooth not working properly and Samsung Account not working.
Now I restored to the original one because I need the external keyboard.
Let's hopes you can clear out in the next build this bugs.
Just my feedback to help you.

Back up your previous rom and files onto an external micro sd? That's what I've done. I'm curious enough to try this on my trusty P900 and see what happens. I do hope bluetooth works for my well-used logitech keyboard. If not, it might be a short-lived experiment. But I have to encourage *anyone* who would venture out to aid this great piece of hardware with an update.
So... as soon as the download finishes.... (hopefully) I'll be back!
Installed this. **WOW**
Yes, Bluetooth works. I'm typing on my Logitech Keyboard via this rom right now.
Yes, soundcamp works a charm on this.
Yes, the touchwiz is nifty.
Yes, I rooted it with SuperSU v2.79 zip file (flashed from TWRP).
No camera? I've used mine maybe three times -- none of which led to good pictures -- since I owned this tablet. (Warning: if you open the camera app, it kinda locks up the tablet.)
No GPS? I have a phone.
Please... keep developing this! I am adopting it as my go-to rom for the present and likely for quite a while. Now... back to soundcamp! Oh, by the way... on a tablet soundcamp gives you *two* keyboards on one screen.
Thanks for making this ROM.
Can anyone post some screenshots?
I added photos in op
Gps fixed. I'm stuck with camera. I wanted to make rom without any modifications in framework. Now i'm with camera and externaldisplay. I think it's the same issue something there. If I cant solve it soon, so i will have to upload rom without camera.
Anyway I'm really happy with this rom, it's much faster and responsive than 5.0.2 stock or mm from tab s.
Installed but does not boot. Stuck on Samsung logo.
Any ideas? Thanks

Probably you didnt wait enough. First boot takes 12-15 min.
Or you didnt wipe data partition.
Eager to get the GPS - working version... but hey, until then... here's a couple snaps. My desktop. And Soundcamp's two keyboards on the Pro 12's screen. Second (Samsung) desktop wallpaper. And rom info from setup.

AOSP apps

So I have been in this modding android game for quite some time since I had an LG G3 and then I moved over to the Nexus 6 for about 2 years and some of these custom roms are just awesome but one thing I cannot get rid of properly are the inbuilt AOSP apps..
on the Nexus 6 a few years back somebody made a flashable zip that got rid of all of them and the boot animation but then fixed the boot animation being deleted and unfortunately time to change technology has changed and that doesn't work on this phone obviously.
I have tried using the magisk debloater and it just a little too complicated for me because I don't like having two of the same apps one being Google the other being AOSP and any other gaps package I flash besides the razorlove gapps fail when flashing a custom ROM..
I've tried using opengapps and I thought when flashing that package the AOSP apps get replaced with the Google version of them.
Would anybody mind listing what AOSP apps I can remove completely and I apologize if it's already on the thread but I didn't really see anything or maybe I just wasn't looking in the right place but can you guys help me out? I really like the RR ROM but the AOSP apps just bothered the hell out of me. I've tried using titanium to completely remove some of them like the AOSP Keyboard but it doesn't fully remove them and I don't want to go into the files that I don't know about and screw up my phone..
So right now I'm on stock and the limitations kind of suck so if anybody could you know help me out listing a method that they use to get rid of them that actually works or listing the ones that I can remove and what program I can use to remove them I do not want to disable them I want to remove them... Or because I know how to use Linux and what not you know maybe somebody could show me how to make a flashable zip that will remove them and I will gladly share it to the community but I'm looking for anything that helps.
It would be greatly appreciated!

You do realize that AOSP is not a single project like some rom developers, right? If someone publishes an "AOSP" rom, that doesn't mean that they are following some kind of standards or rules.

A piece of advice. Get rid of your Pixel as soon as you can. It's a bug testing platform for Google. Samsung, HTC, LG, Oneplus take buggy Google code and refine it. Google doesn't bother.
I only keep this $960 piece of **** (which is now worth less that $300) because I have no other alternative at the moment. As soon as I can dump it for a real a phone, I will.
I'm good thanks I do my research before I buy my phones and I will never buy another Samsung again and dumping my phone is not an option right now if it was I get me the Rog phone from Asus that thing is a beast

I used an S9 for a little while when I was setting it up for a friend. It's a marvelous phone. I have owned multiple HTC flagships in the past, and they were stellar. I have heard that LG and Oneplus were excellent. My last phone before Pixel XL was Note 7, which was absolutely amazing, one of a kind. This pos Pixel XL has been nothing but bug ridden nightmare. The only reason why I keep it around is because of Project FI. It's because it's cheap. Goddamn $960 nightmare on top of that.
Also, please use punctuation next time. Not using it seems like an insult, but maybe that's just me.

Click on my profile and find new threads started by me in this subforum.
I believe every single new thread was me complaining about one bug or another.
The biggest one that is always on my mind though, and which is almost a deal breaker, was introduced by Google in the 7.0.2 update. And they still haven't fixed it, but all other manufacturers have - I know for a fact that this bug was fixed in Oreo by Samsung and Oneplus.
It's where you wear a smartwatch which can make and receive phone calls, such as my beautiful Huawei Watch with a gorgeous custom band, and then you get inside your car with a bluetooth hands-free car kit, or just a bluetooth headset, which then improperly connects to the phone as "Connected (no phone)." So you cannot use it. If you don't wear a watch, then everything works fine with a kit or bt headset. This is the reason why I don't wear my beautiful watch anymore. Google needs to fire their bluetooth stack programmer.

My bad. I use speech to text a lot and I don't like using punctuation when speaking. It causes some bad habits.
Update though, upon doing further research making a flashable zip is complicated but I should have it all figured out by the end of the week and I'm not really having any bugs with the AOSP apps I just don't like looking in my app drawer and seeing there's duplicates and I really don't want to manually hide all of them each time I flash a ROM or something and do a backup.
On a side note I just found a Chrome extension that allows speech to text and is very good with no ads. If you're like me and you use your voice more than you use your keyboard, look up voice in voice typing under Chrome extensions pretty damn simple.

A friend of mine made a script specifically for what you are trying to do, granted, it's for a different device and older version of Android. Some small modification should be all it needs to suit your purpose, if nothing else, it may contain some useful information.
The thread is located here (Keep in mind, he's from Brazil, so his English is a little rough =)

You are completely fine. I'm shocked how nice people are on here LOL usually people are just mean and think they have the right answer and I have to accept it no matter what and I just don't like people who are so full of themselves so thank you.
I've been trying to research this but I was supposed to have surgery today and I was getting ready for that and unfortunately it was cancelled without my knowledge so that was pretty stressful and now I have to start the whole process over again because the doctors I was going to go to no longer accept my insurance and nobody told me so I'm still going to work on this it's just going to be a little bit of a process.

As a side note, I am now in the same boat as you. I have a Oneplus 6 now, silk white, which is gorgeous. But it has double apps like yours - 2 calendars, 2 calculators, 2 message apps, 2 clock apps etc. I don't even really know which ones are Google and which ones are Oneplus - I think the round icons are Google, but rectangular icons are Oneplus. Plus I don't know which apps are better. I think that I will use some of them for a while and disable the least appealing ones.
There are only a handful, and maybe that's what you can do? Just disable? If you cannot disable from the main Android interface, you can do it from adb. There are commands that can disable and enable app packages from adb.
Hey guys I'm sorry it's been awhile since I've kept up with you guys. So a little side note
I have started this project it is my very first project on my GitHub.
But my problem is I have no idea how to even start this I mean I tried using the flashable zip creator and it pulled the system apps but I'm at a loss here any help would be greatly appreciated..
You can view the project at this link by the way
