First off I want to say I'm not a noob when it comes to flashing. I usually get 14-18 hours on a full charge with 3-4 hours screen time which seems to be the norm on e4gt roms. I haven't reinstalled any apps since flashing the FK23 stock leak and now a few days into the room settling I have almost 4 hours on a full charge and down to 9 percent left with almost 2 hours screen time. I have checked to see if my battery is swollen and it's not. The battery stops spinning immediately after I let go of it. Screen shots are attached and any insight would definitely be appreciated. I may have to go back to blu kuban since that's been giving me equivalent if not better batter life compared to FK23 stock

Did you use One click odin to flash this?
Try removing unneeded stock apps
No this is from the tar file flashed in Odin 1.85 I believe... Had no issues for a few days now it's going crazy...I didn't even restore my internal and external sd backups yet as I wanted to test a clean install first

I'm having rapid battery drain, too. I used the one-click no-data. I want to wipe everything and start over. Can I simply download and OC the data, or do I need to do something else, first?
As far as I know (devs correct me if I'm wrong) you can just use the OC restore that doesn't say no data... But I went the extra step and copied my entire internal and external to my pc for safe measures and so I could pick and choose what I wanted back on my phone. Then I cleared my internal and external sd before I even one clicked so it was already clean... I just wanted to make 100 percent sure everything was clean but that's just me

Im not having any issues. Let your phone go dead tonight and charge it completely to 100% while off. Do not interrupt it until complete. Since I started doing this on flashed roms I have been getting better battery performance.

Was it completely dead when you put it on charge? I don't know why this works for me, but every Rom I have ever flashed, unless something is wrong with it, gives me better battery life 3-5 days after I flash it. Some of the old-timers say a Rom has to settle for a few days, so maybe it helps do that quicker. If all else fails, reflash the Rom.

I gotta say that your drain seems pretty extreme! I myself am having slightly accelerated battery drain but its better than what I had on ICS. My best recommendation would be to use an app like ROM Toolbox or Titanium Backup to freeze apps and background processes you don't need. If that doesn't help you may need to look at other options.

I'm going to try installing GSAM and checking out what's going on in the background but as far as I can see nothing out of the ordinary is going on with the processes. On a side note when I took a look at my battery itself the sticker has pink X's on it. Not so sure if it's water damage per say but it may be condensation/humidity since I live in Florida. Looking into getting an extended battery as a replacement and any suggestions on the cheapest but most reliable battery to purchase would be helpful and I don't really mind if I have to have a larger back door on my phone. The cheapest I've found is a Trexcell with the back door for $16.99 free shipping. If anyone knows of anything better/cheaper please point me in the right direction.
Another issue I've been having is wifi will connect and reconnect uncontrollably whenever it feels like it, and the sprint connection optimizer was disabled since I Odin'd.

Ya GSAM is a must have. I run it on every one of my devices. I was also getting some irregular battery drain. Then I looked at what apps where keeping my device awake the most and found that hotmail app had a 4 hour wake lock! Ouch! I uninstalled that and setup the default email client to check my hotmail hoping this will resolve my issue. But I can tell you right now nothing else is keeping my device awake that long so in theory this should solve my issue. You may want to go through this same exercise. After a couple of hours of running GSAM looking at which apps are using the most power. Then switch your view to "Time help awake" and see if something has a wake lock holding your device awake.
Good luck
I re-read garwynn's instructions for the one-click and realize that I made a mistake going from ICS (Lightweight) to FK23 without a full wipe. I thought I was paying closer attention when flashing, but I screwed up. Thankfully, this should be easily fixable. I'm running the one-click restore and am optimistic things will be better.

Well after installing gsam I was able to see that after going from 77% to 15% in just over 4 hours with 1 hour screen time I noticed that media server had 293 wakelocks with 1 hour of time held awake...might have found the culprit...will keep you guys updated as im sure it will help a few...just wanted to update that I switched to Universe JB to see if it was just that tar...apparently it wasn't seeing just as much battery drain
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
And now I also figured out that the media server was not the only culprit. The battery seems to be the problem after numerous tests returning results that the battery was only a 1175 mah battery instead of what it should be 1800 mah. The battery does not spin so don't always judge by that test alone. After deciding to put my OG Epic 4G slider battery in and take it for a spin these are the results I have so far with 300 mah less (1500 total) here is the screen shots below from a full charge
*EDIT * I'm now running blu Kuban FI27 and tested also with the stock 1800mah battery still dies rapidly and WiFi still disconnects and reconnects randomly

Averaging 10% loss every hour
I am experiencing roughly 8-12%, so averaging around 10% loss every hour with moderate to slightly heavy use. Right now after 5 hours & 10 minutes i am at 50%. I have Facebook & an Exchange email synced and was on a phone call for over an hour, have been texting a bit and using email, the internet & Facebook. I have removed Sprint ID, which seems to run in the background along with Sprint radio, Nascar, Yahoo Stocks & News, so that may be helping a little. Overall I think that the battery performance has improved for me.
I was experiencing some pretty bad drain but after letting the kernel settle for a few days and disabling the location services, I can easily make it through the day
My batter time stinks!
I'm also getting 9% per hour battery drain. I have a Tasker profile running which turns off DATA when the screen is off. Most of the day, my phone has not been in use and I'm still getting battery drain. BetterBatteryStats shows that a process called "surfaceflinger" (Android System) has used the most followed by "googlequicksearchbox" followed by Gmail. Partial Wakelocks report says "signalCollector.Scanner has a count of 4844 and "LocationRecieverService" has a count of 3411 with "LocationReportingService" having a count of 5625. However, all of these combined only add up to 2% so I'm confused as to what is burning my battery.

Have u checked to make sure your battery isn't going bad? Take it out and try spinning it on a table on both sides if it spins like a top its starting to bulge, bulging battery = bad battery

Hi All,
So recently I have been having problems with my battery life. It's not lasting as long as it should. However, I do not know whether or not its my data cable, the device that plugs into the wall, my battery, or the charging port in my phone.
I got my phone from best buy, but it was more than 30 days ago, and I have no insurance on it, so I cannot get a replacement without sending it away for at least $100.
Any tips?
Well what battery life are you getting? Get into the Phone settings and then battery settings and post a snapshot of the graph here. Additionally you can also install Batterystat it will give you a full analysis of what's using up your battery power.

I think I may have narrowed it down to the battery itself? I have some battery apps that tell me the health is "good," but what does that really mean? My charging cable is iffy, because sometimes it works perfectly, charging to 100 just fine. However, other times it charges 20 percent in 9 hours. When I used my friend's Note II charger, it worked perfectly every-time. But the fact of the matter is, when my phone does charge to 100 from my cable, I still get not the best battery life, which leads me to believe it's my battery's fault. I am going to test out charging my phone to 100% with my friend's cable tonight, and see what happens tomorrow. I will also get batterystat and report back.
Also, this may be important. When I first got my phone, battery life was AMAZING, really quite astounding. It's just kind of dropped down, like a slope. Not a sudden, dramatic drop, but incrementally.
As for the battery info below, here is what went on today. I unplugged my phone from 100% at around 7am. It is now 6pm. Today, my phone was barely used, just sitting in my pocket with wi-fi on. When I did use it, I sent two very quick emails, played scramble with friends for about 45 minutes total, took a few photos, listened to music from the music player for about 15 minutes, and that is really all I did. I feel that my percentage should be much higher than what it is listed as.
Here's mine as you can see I'm getting almost twice your battery life. I have a few apps that i use everyday which are basically whatsapp, xda, chrome. I don't have many apps that would wake the phone constantly and if there is then I disable them from starting up when the phone is not in use. The best tool you can use for something like this would be rom toolbox pro. It's multiple system tools in one and it works great. I'm currently on Omega V10 with perseus kernel. Also I don't connect to wifi much and network here is weak and on 2G but even though I still get this battery life. In areas with good signal I get more battery life. Also I've dropped my phone twice with impact points on the corner, and just minor scuffs but that didn't effect the phones performance or battery life so I doubt it has affected yours.

Also I've overclocked, my processor to 1.8ghz and undervolted between - 50 and -100. So i get minimal power wastage from heat build up. Also you can set a black wall paper with a dark theme.

Unfortunately, I am not rooted, and haven't planned on doing so ever. Is there anything else I can do to fix my problem? I did download batterystats, and am waiting a few days though to see what it tells me.
Also, I used a different charger just to see what would happen today, and even though its been off the charger for 2 hours, it's already down to 94 percent. So I am thinking that there is either something wrong with the battery, the charging port, or could there be a bug in the phone's software?
I am thinking of getting a new battery, and seeing if that fixes my problem. I'm just so irritated because battery life used to be amazing, and I don't know what happened.
Maybe try a factory reset. Maybe something else has been using your battery.

That's what I was thinking. I will probably do that and report back, before going out and buying a battery or something. Is it possible that, although not reported in the battery info, that an app could be rogue or something or taking up battery? I don't want to do a factory reset and redownload a bad app.
Update: I tried a factory reset. It seems to either be worse or just the same. It's been an hour and has dropped to 97 percent, but I have made a couple of phone calls. But compared to before I did a factory reset, it dropped to 96 percent in two hours while not doing anything.
Keep your phone on charging over night.
Then let it drain to zero no matter what.
Do this 3 to 4 times and then
Leave it for charging overnight.
Then while it is already charging use battery calibration.

Quick Update:
I did another factory reset after I said the initial one didn't help. It looks like it may have helped, although I still have not gotten the battery life I used to have.
I found an application here called betterybatterystats, and have downloaded that. I will use my phone throughout today, and will post sceenshots.
If need be, I will take your advice about charging and draining and charging, and then do the battery calibration.
Here are my most reset battery stats. Screenshots are from the battery setting area, and betterbatterystats
Maybe I am just being paranoid and nothing is wrong? I can't make any sense out of these readings, but I hope someone else can.
first of all change you cable if you are having that kind of issues. Mine in my galaxy ace was having that problem, it was like connect/disconnect without any reason and it didnt charged my phone at all. I noticed it when it was too late, the continous on/off kill my battery. When I say kill i mean it just lasts 15 min in 3g with screen on and it happened to me in 2 official batteries.
good luck!

Battery calibration anyone succeded?
Hi I have a battery calibration problem on my GT-N5110 Note 8.0 that I bought refurbished through amazon. I know it is the calibration since the battery usually drains pretty fast and when it gets to 1% it stays there for around half to one hour of continuous use. Also sometimes when I'm charging it, it jumps from around 60% to 100% and "charged" shows up right after that happens, when I unplug it and use it, then it goes down normally (fast) 1% at a time, even though that big jump while charging happened.
I have tried several "full cycles" without success and haven't been able to find a real way to calibrate the battery meter, neither here or on google, and since I didn't buy it in my country, local samsung support say they can not help me.
I'm on 4.2.2 leak rooted and the drain has been present since I was on 4.1.2 stock.
If someone can get a hold of how to calibrate, it would be really nice if you could share it! Thank you!

I tried the battery calibration app before, and really didn't do a thing for me...
I also suffer this weird battery behaviour with the device charging, it will take ages up to about 60%, and then instantly its at 100%
I also get this on the way down... when im using it, the battery drains fast, but when I get to 35 -40%, I then suddenly get the low battery 15% warning flash up, and then im all out of juice.
This is the same whether im on 4.1.2 or 4.2.2 custom or stock firmware
I rarely get more than an hour screen on time, and thats with fairly low brightness and power saving mode on
If someone could some how contact Samsung and ask them about the real calibration it would be very helpful for us having this issue... Since some don't live in the US and don't get the correct support :what:

I don't have the same issue,so I couldn't help. Sorry.
I need help with this too!
Battery decreases so quickly when wifi is on! hardly get a days use out of it...:crying:
One method described in the battery performance thread which I've found effective:
"I wanna share my trial of battery calibration that really make a significant different at least till now .. I used to make calibration by discharge / charge cycles, but this time i add an official instruction of Apple:
- discharge the battery by ur normal usage till 1% then let the device play an HD movie till it shut down (that may take some time as it for me takes 4 hours!!) then turn it on to make sure the battery read 0% (my previous calibration the battery always shut down at 1% and I never see that 0% as I was discharging it vigorously) after making sure it is 0% it will turn off by itself anyway.
- now leave ur device turned off for extended time (about 5 hours or more is better according to apple "u could let it while u r sleeping"
- after that turn the device on and plug it in as it is on
- left it charges as it likes (for my trial it takes 7 hours and didn't say charged!! but I had to unplug it as I had to leave the work!)
till now my battery is really significantly improved, hoping to continue like that and I will keep u updated
Hope that helps :good:"
Discharging it completely, leaving it dead overnight then giving it a full charge by plugging in as a soon as it powers on has yielded good results for me. However I've also discovered a severe battery drain bug in stock Kitkat which has nothing to do with battery calibration; using wifi on certain routers causes Android OS wakelock which persists in deep sleep. I use my old Galaxy W as a hotspot for my Note 8 and consistently my battery drains overnight in deep sleep with wifi on. At my workplace we have a Linksys E2500 router, I leave the tablet on wifi throughout the day and don't notice the Android OS wakelock. So if you're having inexplicable battery drain test your Note 8 on different routers.

Calibration is a myth... google stated calibration tools do not help with how Android functions with battery management.
I posted my thread about battery and charging cables, and replied an a few topics like this one, yet nobody will search on Samsung DVFS disable or take note of it as being the cause.
Root with saferoot if you have not rooted, install xposed framework if not done so, and Wanam Xposed or Wanam DVFS disable. Since over 10 months now, my battery stats and performance are trouble free.
I was having severe battery drain for a while until I tried something I read about. What you do is carefully open the note up and disconnect the battery for about 15 minutes (they recommend a longer time but I don't see the need). Connect it back up and put the note back together.
It worked for me.
Google it, there's even a video on how to do it.
I was down to 3 hours or so of battery time but bought a replacement battery from a company called New Power 99. Cost $65-ish US and now I can go all day and still have at least 25% when I hit the sack at night. Huge improvement for me! I"m not a heavy user but I take notes at work, do some surfing, then read and surf alot at home at night. So far it's been great! Might think of a replacement battery. Probably cheaper one's out there but I wanted to get what I paid for so shelled out the extra.

Hi! Thanks for the info! That's great to hear, one question, did you change the battery yourself? If so, could you provide a hint on which guide you used, that would be verry helpful:good:
The battery came with a DVD that explained it (with really bad music) but the bottom line is you pry the back off, take the 8 screws off, unplug the old - plug in the new and replace everything. Not really hard but, as I said, nerve-wracking! I was afraid I'd screw it up but it was pretty straight forward.

Any time. Hope this works for you. It did for me.
I. Had the same issues, I just took off the back cover and disconnected the cable that connected the battery. I did not need a new battery. The toughest part for me was disconnecting the battery cable... I actually had to take out the 8 screws that held the battery in place, so I could get some leverage. I only had my battery disconnected for only 5 minutes and it solved the problem for me..... Good luck!

What sort of battery life are you all seeing with this years note? come from the ipad 3 where i usually saw 10-11 hours screen time and 2-3d standby, today is the first time ive had it from 100% and i only lasted 6 hours screentime with 7 hours overall on time, i still havent run it down completely yet but surely i should be getting more than this?
Its such a shame because i love it so much, but i cant deal with this short battery life

I came from an ipad 3 as well and had the same problem until I disabled several apps, turned off GPS, etc and over the long weekend I was getting ~12 hours of web surfing.
I haven't rooted yet so that should be a number that can improve. I'm sorta trying to wait for a root that doesn't trip knox. I don't want a custom rom so no reason to install a bootloader and lose my warranty if I can be patient. Tried Cydia Impactor but I had already upgraded to MK1. I'm wondering if the shipping rom (P600XXUAMIE) might have the 4.3 vulnerabilities unpatched.

I thought it was more, but looking at the list.. go to settings, General, Application Manager, select the prinstalled apps you don't want running all the time and click Turn Off. I've turned off BlurbCheckout, Businessweek+, NYTimes, Polaris Office, Screen Saver and Twitter. I think more important was turning off GPS, Screen Rotation, Bluetooth, Reading Mode, Smart Stay, Smart Pause, Smart Scroll, Auto Brightness then adjusting the screen brightness to something a bit less retina searing than the default.

I've had mine since Saturday soooo, 5 days now. I get easily 10-11 hours of screen time. I loose about 1% per 8-9 hours in stand by and i loose about 9% per hour of video streaming from either my Netflix, HBO GO, or Slingbox account and that's with brightness about or just above 50%. I'm also NOT rooted yet. Totally stock with just certain apps turned off and i restrict a lot of the background data on individual apps that i don't need running background data
Have you guys try using this damn thing at 100% while indoors? It hurts the eyes with a white screen.

Hmm, I think I misspoke about the background data on this tablet. I do that religious with my phones (Bionic, GS4) but I went to look at what i did and there is no option to turn off background data. I would normally go to settings>data usage and tap whatever app and the check "restrict background data". I must have thought I did that on this tablet but obviously not.
i think the battery life is great on my tablet - i dont game with it - today it has been running for 13 hours 48 minutes with 5 hours and 48 minutes of screen on time and battery is at 52% - not rooted yet - i have everything i dont use turned off ( ie. smart stay/scroll, air view ) and running nova laucher prime and dont use power savings mode
Face it - it's nowhere near ipads. That's my biggest concern.
It lasts the day, charge it at night, what's the problem, as long as it lasts all day there's nothing to worry about

I dunno, doing pretty good over here. Rooted, but have no froze anything. Only rooted to get gameCIH installed screen is between 25% and 50% brightness depending on what im doing or where i am. I mostly just use it for playing a few games here and there, taking notes during lectures.. etc. This is about typical, sometimes I get a little less, screen brightness seems to play a huge role in battery drain (obviously) but ive never run it dead during the day.. ever. I start every day with 100% charge and dont usually plug it in till I go to bed. If I have a charger around and im not doing anything ill plug it in (I mean.. why not) but I don't ever have to "worry" about it going dead on me.
I'm currently on 9 hours of battery time, probably at least 4-5 hours of that is screen on time reading comics or doing sketchbook pro pictures.
Battery is on 46%.
So yeh, battery is fine. Brightness is about 30%.

Right... It's better then an IPad. I doubt the IPads beat 11-12 hours of screen time at roughly 50% brightness and an IPad has a smaller screen and less pixels to power.
freeze those mofos
I use app quarantine...
theres a dude that posted all the system apps u can freeze
and I followed his suggestions
cant find his post
when I do I will update this one...
Hi all, I just bought this tablet, I have not turn it on yet...
Do I have to charge the device fully before turning on like some cell phones are?! or I can just start using it right away?!
and what kind of battery it does?! how's the charging process?! should I wait for it to be fully discharged, and then charge it to 100 percent?! or should I keep it between 40 to 80 percent to save the battery life...
in a nut shell, if you have any forum or link or information that could help, please share

Dude, just turn it on and use it. The days of cycling a batter (let it drain and then charge to full) were over in the 90's with Ni-Cad batteries.. these do not develop a memory. From dead, the tab will take 5-6 hours to charge with supplied charger and in the wall. Using it while charging will still cause it to lose battery but a a much slower rate.
So, my battery is wack... and I think it's only been acting like this since I went to a KK ROM? Maybe? Feels like it...
I've had this tablet since it was released last fall, and this behavior is very recent.
Anyways, it dies FAST. Like nose dives in a matter of 5-15 minutes. What's even weirder, is that sometimes, if I power cycle the device, it'll jump up by 30-60%. But then just dies again in another 5-15 minutes.
And there's a screenshot after I just power-cycled.
It jumped from 11% to 71%!!
Crazy!
I've also tried letting it get to 5% then charging it to 100%, done that twice. No luck. I don't know if this is related, but if I power it completely off, and plug it in, it turns on... kinda weird. My Note 3 doesn't do that, it just stays off and shows the battery charge indicator.

Hi, I have similar problem and I am with 4.3 android. I have battery loss when I play games. It drops to 2-3% really fast and after reboot it goes up to 35-40%. Once I fully depleted my battery and charge it. This time there were no battery lost. After the second charging problem persists.
If you manage to fixed it please tell us how.

I have a similar problem with my p600. the tablet is new, got it since a month or less.
at first i was amazed of the battery life i use it a lot for work writing documents and sheets on excel, battery used to perfom quite well giving me more than 5 hours of screen on, but recently the battery starts to drop very fast, now i can barely get around 2 hours of screen on.
i've already done 2 cycles of full discharge and then charge it completely with the tablet turned off. but the problem stills.
also sometimes when i reboot the tablet the battery goes from i.e 20% to 40% after the reboot.
im still looking for a fix or solution, today i found a new official firmware for my model (4.4 firmware for telcel mexico). going to wait until the tablet is fully charged and then flash the new firmware. I dont know if its going to help but i got nothing to lose.
by the way, sending it to semsung is not an option because of knox 0x1

try this, bring life back to battery. If you use the trial version, keep exit and redo it until all cells are done.

Man i ha e exactly the same problem. I calibrated it some months ago and it seemed to work fine. Now the problem is back.... Dont know what to do... I have tried several apps, though i read google doesn't recomend to use any app to fix the battery... we really need help here

Bumping up I have the same exact problem... any fixes?
Sent from my SM-P600 using XDA Free mobile app
Sorry to bump this, has anyone found a solution yet.
I've replaced the battery 3 times in about 9 months, but had this issue about a yr, was sent back to Samsung who changed the battery and supposedly updated the fw 4.4.2, I have since replaced the battery another 3 times every 3 months, each time either factory resetting or flashing a new rom, currently on official Smp600 5.1.1 BTU rom, today my battery was on 47%, I plugged in charger and was watching/streaming a movie on it, about 80 minutes later the tablet shut off, which was odd it's never powered off while on charge, powered it back on and battery said 19%, my previous issues has been the same as others, it can be on 100%, play a game, or stream a movie,or watch youtube etc and it will nosedive dramatically 20/30% at a time, sometimes within 10 mins it's gone from 100% to less than 30%, it's clear there's some sort of issue if others have it, I was wondering if a thread should be made to list ppl with this issue to see how many there are and go from there.

I've been having the same issue for some time now. Calibrating the battery does help, I don't experience the problem nearly as much after calibrating it. But it'll still nosedive on occasion, maybe once a week. This is the app I use to calibrate it https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration
