hello everyone,
so i have bought a Samsung Note3 N900T recently.
and i have paid for the unlock service, so the phone is now unlocked,
so today i went to At&t store and ask for a new sim for my note3 (i used to have an iPhone5, the sim card didnt fit for note3)
after active my sim, i can use my the Note3 to make calls, send regular text.
BUT no matter what i do, i CANNOT get internet access, i have followed the steps by the APN settings, tried a few times and im sure eveything was typed correctly. but neither 4G/LET nor 3G signal shows up.
btw, the only regular text can be send, no pic text. but calls work well.
anybody can help me out?
Have you tried making sure you're set up to an access point? If so, reset it... That may work

Make sure your APN settings are: leave everything normal except for these settings below
APN: phone
MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
Multimedia Message Proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
Multimedia Message Port:80
MCC:310
MNC:410
APN Type: default, mms, supl, hipri
Bearer: LTE
Also type in the dialer:
*#2263#
Enters in ServiceMode
Chose LTE/WCDMA then you can the back button to get out of all of it.
After I did that to mine, I had Data & everything worked out for me.
Where are you located? Some areas like in the south it's rare to get 4G, usually you're on 3G or Edge.

Right now I have a One X with service through AT&T. I simply cannot afford to pay the ETF right now so my two options are to get a unlocked SIM card from cell-unlocker or the such and sell the phone -or- get an SIM card and $50/mo unlimited plan through NET10 who now offers their own SIM cards for switching AT&T GSM phones over to their service. My question is this- a) if I do end up going through NET10- essentially I am just unlocking my phone and switching it to their service, correct? So I should not have to pay AT&T the ETF? (Yes I am aware it will eventually go to collections and I do intend on paying it as soon as I have the money to do so). and b) they say on their site that smart phones are supported but it's possible depending on your phone that some internet/web based apps/features may not work correctly. Anyone have any idea if this is true with the HOX and if so what possibly could break after the transfer? Thanks in advance.
I can't post links so here's the info on the SIM card from their site:
AT&T Compatible SIM Card + $50 Monthly Unlimited* Plan
Use your own compatible or unlocked GSM phone on America's best nationwide networks. Select a SIM or SIM bundle to get Unlimited Data, Talk & Text. It's that easy.
Includes Net10 Unlimited* Airtime Card (Talk, Text, Data/Web/Email, 411/30 Access Days)
Unlimited GSM service on the best nationwide networks
$50 per month - Unlimited Data, Talk & Text
No contracts, no bills, no credit checks
Use any compatible or unlocked GSM phone - including smart phones
Keep your phone number
Works with SMS, IM, social networks, email, web
They also give you instructions on changing the APN which are as follows:
Find below the values needed to update your device data settings to be able to send MMS* and connect to the Internet via your Browser:
1) CREATE A NEW APN (ACCESS POINT NAME). ENTER ONLY THE SETTINGS LISTED BELOW:
NAME: net10
APN: att.mvno
PROXY: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com
PORT: 80
MMSC: mmsc.cingular.com
MMS PROXY: 66.209.11.33
MMS PORT: 80
2) SELECT THE APN YOU JUST CREATED.
3) DELETE THE OLD APN FROM YOUR PHONE IF POSSIBLE.
NEED HELP UPDATING YOUR PHONE'S SETTINGS?
*Updating your APN settings does not guarantee MMS (Multimedia/Picture Messaging) will work. MMS is dependent upon your phone model's limitations. If you have an iPhone and you would like to use MMS, you will need to Jailbreak** your iPhone in order to update your MMS settings.
**Search "Jailbreak iPhone" on-line for more information.
you can do essentially the same thing on straight talk for $45/month. you may want to go to howard forums and try to ask your question there. a lot of long-time prepaid users there.
also, have you explored the possibility to talking to a service rep about moving to the at&t $25month prepaid plan (250 minutes talk time, unlimited texts but you have to pay an additional $25/month for 1gb of data) because you are having problems with your current contract? i suppose you won't get much sympathy, but maybe you can work something out to avoid taking the hit on your credit rating.
good luck.
appreciate your reply- yea credit score isn't much of a concern here (unfortunately) and I did see that straight-talk contract which does appear to be virtually identical for $5 cheaper so that is a possibilty. After doing some further research I have two kind of follow up questions that hopefully someone might know the answer(s) to:
Will have have to buy a sim card from cellunlocker *First* to unlock the phone before switching it? Or I can just go straight to using NET10's sim card?
Is it possible that having the phone already unlocked/rooted/custom rom'd that this will screw it up or vice versa?
Thanks in advance
you dont need to unlock your phone when using straight talk or net10
I just activated one NET10 with ATT network and this is what they gave me for internet:
APN Name: NET10
APN: wap.tracfone
PORT: 80
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.32
MMS Port: 80
Delete the current APN from your phone.

And this one works great.

thanks [email protected] These are the first settings that have worked at all to get mobile web on my wifes I927.... now if I can I can get MMS to work all will be well. It won't work over WiFi either so it is probably a different problem than APN settings

Well, after looking around, it seems that MMS grabs messages only on mobile web not WiFi at all. MW pops on to download the messages. With [email protected]'s settings I am getting 4G web speed, but no MMS. Anyone have any ideas? We use Net 10 on an unlocked I927 Glide. Using a rooted stock rom.

Finally got time to monkey around with wife's phone again. I tried leaving the MMS Proxy line blank and that did the trick. Can now send/receive MMS and use Mobile Web..... SWEET.
Hello everyone,
I have a new AT&T plan with five lines, all using Samsung Galaxy S3s, all having the same problem. My 14 day grace period to cancel is almost up and I'm at my wits end searching for an answer. The phones are not rooted as I do not understand most of this technology; however I'm smart enough to know that this is a problem beyond rebooting the phone or resetting the SIM card, as every forum out there is telling people to do. Calling tech support (please don't make me) is a LAST resort for any device I own.
In the town where I work and shop I have no signal at all from AT&T. No voice, text, or data. AT&T coverage map shows "good" coverage in this town. Every so often I do get a weak AT&T signal but only for a few seconds. I do however pick up a very strong signal from a T-Mobile tower. I know that AT&T and T-Mobile both use GSM and should be compatible for roaming purposes, but the phone does not roam; it just shows a strong signal that I cannot connect to. Also, it switches back and forth between these two towers. I posted screen shots taken one minute apart.
In my phone's "Mobile Networks" settings there is no option to chose a network. There are only four options on that page: Mobile Data (checked), Data Roaming (not checked), APN, and Network Operators. I have tried adding a new APN but that did not work. The Network Operators tab says "Default Setup" and I cannot change it. I understand this is an issue with AT&T - they deliberately remove these settings.
I have gone through all the settings in Service Mode using *#197328640# looking for a way to enable the missing settings. I have already used the Service Mode to disable LTE (another setting AT&T likes to deprive us of) but that was not the problem so I put that back on automatic. I have also checked and unchecked every imaginable combo of settings such as wifi, data, airplane mode, etc.
I think the problem is either that the T-Mobile tower is interfering with what *should* be a good AT&T signal, or that the fact that I am "connected" to AT&T (albeit with no bars) is preventing me from roaming. I'd like to know if there is a way to disconnect from AT&T to test that theory. Also, I'd like to know if there is something I can do from Service Mode to enable the missing settings so I can set up roaming.
Thanks so much for any suggestions or help.

Just the default one called "ATT Phone".
I tried a Cingular APN in order to get a better connection to the AT&T tower, but it didn't work and I removed it. I found the T-Mobile APN info and was planning to try that next time I'm in town if I don't find some other solution first.
Is it the wap.cingular or pta one? You have to reboot after changing apn's but I'm sure you already knew that

I used the wap.cingular one and did reboot. Do you think this is an APN issue? I'm kind of at a dead end unless I find where to enable those mobile network settings. Thanks for your responses.

If you do not have the pta apn, try and add it. That's the LTE network.

I have added it and will get to town tonight to see if it works. I'll post an update afterward. Thank you!

Unfortunately, it didn't work. I also tried to use a T-Mobile one and the phone wouldn't even let me save it.
I broke down and called AT&T tech support to find out where the roaming settings are in the phone... of course they didn't tell me, but they did tell me they don't have a roaming partnership with T-Mobile in my area. Therefore I'm out of luck and will be cancelling my contract.

Sorry buddy. Best of luck. Use your s3 on a carrier's no-contract plan. Perhaps t mobile or straight talk? Cheers
So I'm using a Verizon LG G4 on Straight Talk AT&T sim. The reason being is that Verizon coverage is very poor in the area that the phone is used the most. I was able to get calls, data and texting working using the tfdata and/or RESELLER APN. I can't however get incoming MMS messages to work. I installed Textra to try and workaround the stock messaging app but it seems to have the same limitation. I also changed the settings from Legacy to Sytem in Textra but that didn't fix the issue. Does anyone know of a way to get MMS fully working using the ST AT&T sim on this verizon G4 device or is it not capable. Would routing the device make it so I could get MMS fully functioning? If so would I need to flash to AT&T firmware or would that not even be possible on this Verizon device? Thanks for any helpful advice you can offer. I've done several searches on xda and Google but can't find a solution. Thanks again. Steve

Ok so i had this same problem when i switched to ting, ting tell you to put in two different apn settings one for data and one for mms. I had data didnt have mms so in the end i combined the data apn and the mms apn while making sure to set the apn protocol to iPv4/iPv6. Now i have mms hope that helps.
I'm using the following settings and having no problems:
Code:
APN: tfdata
MMSC: h t t p : / / m m s - t f . n e t
MMS Proxy: m m s 3 . t r a c f o n e . c o m
MMS Port: 80
MCC: 310
MNC: 410
Authentication Type: None
APN Type: default,admin,fota,mms,supl,hipri
APN Protocol: IPv4
APN Roaming Protocol: IPv4
APN Enable/Disable: Enabled
Bearer: Unspecified
Everything else is "Not Set"
(Remove the spaces in the URLs)
Hope that helps!
I've followed most of this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-phone/help/guide-fire-phone-fireos-google-apps-t3206603) along with updating to 4.6.6, to set up my fire phone, and almost everything is working. I've activated the phone with a Cricket sim, and I can get internet and sms fine. I still can't get mms to send or receive. I've tried several different APN settings from the Cricket website and others. I've tried using the stock messaging app as well as handcent.
Is anyone else using Cricket with their fire phone and able to send/rec mms? If so, what are your APN settings?
My wife's fire phone is working with Cricket, including MMS. I think Cricket takes up to 24 hours to re-reoute SMS/MMS correctly. Maybe give it a day and see if it fixes itself.

So it does work. That's good news. Turns out my wife's BLU phone doesn't work either. It's been over a week since she switched. I would have to wait until tonight to check her phone, but my Nexus 5 is working with those APN settings.
Well, it turns out the fire phone is set to use the AT&T APN. The Cricket APN is there on the phone, but the AT&T one is selected. And everything is working fine on her phone.
Here is a thread from howardforums that describes this same situation.

Also, I neglected to mention that I use Google Voice, so all my SMS/MMS gets routed as data. Which is why I thought the Cricket APN worked for my Nexus 5.

Thank you more times than I could ever say! I have a carrier unlocked LG H830 (G5), and have spent more hours than I'd like to admit trying to get outgoing MMS to work on Cricket Wireless. You name it, I've tried it. I would never EVER have thought to change the Network Mode. That fixed it. Granted, instead of showing "LTE", it's now showing 4G (3.5G), and my data speed down is about 5MB, but Cricket throttles the down speeds anyway. And, at home on Wifi, it doesn't matter anyway. So again, thank you!
For the purposes of future Google searchers:
For outgoing MMS to work on a carrier unlocked LG H830 (LG G5), the Network Mode must be set to GSM/WCDMA.
Regards,
Mark
have an unlocked S9. 4G/LTE intermittently flashes in the header, but unable to make calls. texting works fine. carries says buy a new phone.. put in a att sim and phone switched over to att (from TMO) no problems, still not working. yes I updated the network settings also.
anyone else with same problem or ideas how to fix?
I have exactly the same problem. My S9 quit working on 2/25 and was told by PureTalk that It was time for a new phone. I backed it up and did a factory reset and worked fine until yesterday morning. Same issue. On hold now for just over an hour to try one last time with PureTalk customer service. This will be my last attempt to "fix" the issue. Looks like I'll be headed to AT&T...
I am looking at options to replace myself.
With puretalk I'm seeing weird things going on with this. My S9 stopped working about March 2nd. When I switched to an alternate installed APN called ATT Nextgenphone it had Fato added on the types, I could make calls with that, until I restarted then I couldn't. But I couldn't text. If I switched back to the Puretalk suggested APN, I could text but I couldn't make calls. I tried the same thing with an S10 I got because at first they said it was compatible then a day later they said it was not compatible. I got same results with it. I can call on one APN but not text and I can text on the other APN but not call.
So the phones are able to do both but there is something with their tech that they can't handle it. I am currently trying to port to another carrier that says I can get 5G on an S10.
I put port request in but their porting department said it takes 24 hours to port. We'll see about that.
Added:
As it turns out Puretalk lied again, it didn't take 24 hours. It was ported within an hour.
I already had gotten a US Mobile sim card so I attempted to get that going on my S10. Calls worked but texting images didn't. I tried some of their online help steps which are numerous. After those I couldn't make calls (something about setting up LTE Only setting - BAD). So I set back to the original from that and called them They gave me the correct APN settings which are these.
Everything works now. Puretalk and their AT&T shutdown games are history to me.
APN name : Verizon 2
APN: vzwinternet
MMSC: http://mms.vtext.com/servlets/mms
MMS port: 80
MCC: 311
MNC: 480
APN protocol: iPv4/iPv6
APN roaming protocol: iPv4/iPv6

The problem is with the budget phone plans that only allowed 3g, not the S9 phone. But all you should need to do is get a new 4g SIM card from your provider , not a new phone.
Don't know if this is a permanent solution. My family has 2 s9 and 6 s9+ phones all with pure talk. Half of them quit working half still work fine. The only difference was in the model number. (s9) SM-G960U quit working, (s9) SM-G960U1 still works. (s9+) SM-G965U quit working, (s9+) SM-G965U1 sill works. So using this forum I figured out how to flash SM-960U1 firmware to the SM-G960U phone using Frija/Odin. Now both s9 have U1 firmware and both are working flawlessly with pure talk. Haven't yet had opportunity to flash s9+ phones yet but I am expecting the same results. Hope this helps.
