[Q] Install Cyanogemod on GT-I8160L - Galaxy Ace II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone.
I want to install cyanogenmod on my device, I am aware that there is not official rom for my device but there is an unofficial rom.
I did a research on the web and for what I understand there are some problem with my device because it is de latin-american version, I found a method too were I have to copy the "tee" folder from my device before installation and then paste it after the installation(that is supose to solve the 3g signal).
I am a complete begginer in custom roms, I have never installed one in my life. I have a lot of question: I need to have kitkat in my device to install the latest version of cyanogenmod? (my instincts says no but for what I have read I am not so sure) where can I go for a tutorial of installing roms? this rom (cyanogenmod) can work on my device?
The other alternative I have is slim bean, a jelly bean rom based on cyanogenmod(I even have found a tutorial in youtube that explain the installation and seems easy) but the link to download the rom is dead and there is a version specific for the latin american version.
by the way the latin american version is the one with a L at the end(gt-i8160L)
thanks
sorry if my english is bad.

As my device is a I8160, I'll answer the general questions.
The firmware that you need in your device would be a stock Jellybean firmware in order to install CM 10.1, 10.2 or 11 or any KitKat based ROMs.
As for the tutorial for flashing ROMs, this excellent guide by kyrillos13 might be able to help you (although it is meant for I8160..):

Downgrade to 2.2

Hello,
I am on CM 7.2 and wish to downgrade to 2.2.
I am German and need the German Stock Rom. If anybody could help me with downgrading and finding the right bootloader I would be very thankful.
Hi, if you want to go down, just flash stock 2.2 with Odin.
You can download the package here:http://www.sammobile.com/forum/showthread.php?t=31
Flashing instrucktions http://droidangel.blogspot.com/2011/05/procedure-how-to-flash-updateupgrade.html
EDIT: Make sure you DL the european version. It has german language.
Thank you. I tried it some time ago and my Gio bricked because of the wrong bootloader? Whatever this is what they said to me. But now I am not quite sure which 2.2.1 Rom I should pick.
Can you tell me which one is best?
I think it's because its one packaged. Is there a Froyo Rom that isn't one packaged?
If its one package, tick the ''one package option in Odin and just select your file in one package slot.
I dont think that One package ROM would brick your phone easier than Multi package one.
I would take S5660XXKC6 Rom since its latest Froyo (2.2) for Gio
If you bricked earlier, it may be wrong ROM for your device.
Ah I got it. Thank you.
I just downgraded my Gio from CM 7.2 to official 2.3.6. It was one package and didn't brick my set. Just follow the procedure and you're good to go.
Hello,
Could you give me more details on the procedure? Btw, where did you find the link for the official 2.3.6?
Thanks

(I am Brazillian, sorry by my English)
There you have the oficial CyanogenMod 7 rom support, instalation and development issues support.
In my opinion it is the best 2.3 alternative rom for p350.
The steps i know only in portuguese, but i believe i will find it in this link too.
The factory installed apps, the most one you will install with a Google package inside this link too.
The others you can download again on play store.
following a different guide i was trying to install CM Invasion V2 ROM.. i never got to the flashing ROM part... i was backing up the current ROM unsing ROM manager and my cell fone bricked... after banging my head... looking for solutions on the net and again banging my head... i finally was able to revive my cell fone (using kdz updater)... all this is a risky business
can anyone give me a near perfect guide for flashing ROM without using ROM manager.. please..
You'll have to flash a custom recovery first. Amonra is very stable. Then you can make a nandroid backup of your current rom from the recovery for you to go back to. Flash the rom you like and enjoy. If you need to do back to your original rom, just restore back from your nandroid backup

now flash recovery by going on thread then do steps
for flashing roms do following steps on recovery
1.creat nandroid backup only once not for everytime you flash
2.then go in wipe section and wipe all data
3.then go to flash zip manu and find rom then flash
4.sometimes some rom needs advanced steps for flashing like cm 7 official needs to format/system(steps for it it mentioned by the developer on his thread)
done reboot then enjoy flashing.
hope this will help you...........................
in future do not install recovery from rom manager it will brick your phone untill it gets perfect for our device
Remember we have a wiki page for this phone with an all-in-one guide for modifying it (rooting, recovery, custom rom installation, troubleshooting). I try to keep it updated, nice and clean (kinda hard some times).
About Android versions: The Optimus ME comes with Froyo (2.2) there is no other official firmware for it. CyanogenMod 7 is based on Gingerbread (2.3) which now has official support and is working pretty good now (yes, previous versions were slow, buggy but now they're pretty stable)... Honeycomb (3.0) is only for tablets, so it's not coming to P350. CyanogenMod 9 is based on Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0), which for this device is still a work in progress, so don't expect a timeline nor a soon release. CyanogenMod 10 based on Jelly Bean (4.1) is still a myth for the P350...
I hope to have answered your questions...

How to / tutorial for flashing and custom rom?

I just opened the box for my new E988 and I am wanting to load Cyanogenmod or a KitKat rom but not sure where to start. I checked the threads but they implied prerequisite knowledge which I don't have.
Is there a tutorial available to get from completely stock -> CM or a KitKat rom?

Hello !
To better understand, let me to say some words :
When we talk about Firmware , we always automatically understand that there is talk about Stock ROM - The one official rom released from manufacturer.
When we talk about ROM, there are two situation : Stock Rom and Custom Rom .
When we talk about Custom Rom , already there are two situation : Custom Rom based Stock Firmware & Custom Rom based AOSP .
Custom Rom based Stock Firmware is always more stable, and is based on official release with some changes from developer .
Custom Rom based Android Open Source Project ( AOSP ) , is a rom built from scratch, so some custom applications from manufacturer may not be included due to lack of source code - but also we can found here some new and useful functionality !
Here are some Custom Rom based AOSP : Stock AOSP, CyanogenMod (CM), AOKP, OmniROM, Pac-MAN, Carbon, Paranoid Android & many others who rely on AOSP source code with some changes .
I hope you understand me ...

You shouldn't install KitKat Beta as long as there are official version B506CN !
Just put UPDATE.APP extracted from Stock Firmware B506 into your external storage /dload folder and try to update by pressing hardware key combo !

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean, but you must be on stock recovery if you want to update your device to officially KitKat !
The only way to update your device to KitKat is by /dload/UPDATE.APP method ( working only on stock recovery ) !

[Q] installing new firmware/rom on my phone

Hi there.
I have the Huawei Acsend p6 phone, i have some rom of our cellular carrier, i'm not sure if it's custom or official rom with some minor changes. anyway, i can see that the build is "b130sp03".
i want to be at kitkat 4.4.2 with a good custom rom (one of the reasons i want custom is i not sure if my ver is official or not). the thing is: i'm new in this, and i don't know how i get from here to there.
i see some custom roms here, and each rom says you must have kitkat installed, or you must have this build installed before... so i go to the mentioned build, and then i see you must have that build before you install it... so i really don't know where to start and what is the right upgrade path for me.
can someone instruct me how to burn new custom rom from where i stand, and which builds (with links) i need to install after that in order to get to 4.4.2. Thanks a lot!
oh yeah. i rooted my devices. and install touch CWM
