[Q] Playstation Pocket

Hi and good day to all
(this is my 1st post actually)
just got the Xperia Play last week and just sold my old galaxy5 .. been browsing the forums and upgraded it to the latest firmware and kernel(thanks Mr DoomLord!)..
that's why it also inspired me to create an account and be a part of this forum rather than lurking.. anyway,
I saw some games for the xperia play and its all great but
I'm not quite familiar with the playstation pocket feature.. and the're also what they call FPSE and Psx4Droid, and cant seem to understand how to use them or which to use, right now im just playing the stock Crash Bandicoot shipped with it.
Can someone advice what's best to use or the easiest to setup because Ive tried to check those emulators and got me all confused with mixed opinions from people on other forums..

Ok Playstation pocket is and app that list's all your bought "official" playstation games. If you launch the app and click on the search icon, a list of all available games to buy will be listed although there are not many yet.
Both psx4droid and FPse are playstation emulators. FPse is by far the more superior of these applications, I am yet to find a game that dosent run pretty perfectly on FPse. To use these emulators legally, you need to first rip the bios from your PS1 into .bin format, then rip any game you wish to play into .iso/.bin/.cue/ect.

According to Rockstar Newswire, GTA San Andreas is coming this December to mobile handsets. Includes game controller support. Im assuming that it is very sure the Nvidia Shield will be compatible with this!

i`m downloading it right now through Google Play so i assume it seems to be compatible but some reviews complain about DRM-Problems (game doesn´t start because of no purchase confirmation?!). Hope this will be patched immediatly.
Update: Can confirm its not working because of DRM Issues. Rockstar Games, why?

There are 2 versions of the game aviable at the moment.
The first not working because of DRM and the other one
force close when you start the app on a lot of devices.
I`m trying to install the second one right now.

I think those two versions are for different regions because the game had to be edited for certain countries to get a lower age rating. I´ve downloaded the english version because the other one has a german description ( german version is slightly censored).

Yes youre right. One version is for Germany. But I can`t play both of them.
The International App - DRM Error.
The German App - Force Close behind Social Club Screen.
I hope Rockstar fix this bugs faster than Gameloft fixes Gangstar Vegas -.-
Edit: The third Update of San Andreas is out now. It's great on our Nvidia Shield! Play it now!

Yeah its now playable. But i noticed that in rare cases the game crashes back to homescreen. Also it has some graphical glitches that occur for 1-2 seconds. And there are framedrops. Should be patched out.
Do you think that Tegra Chipsets aren´t really optimised for games?

After the update. For me the only problem is I cant' manual aim.
Do you guys know how to free aim with a gun?

At the moment it is not possible to trigger manual aim via a button. But you can aim manually if you shoot and there is no target in sight and a aim cross appears. But thats dumb because 1) you can´t aim without shooting ( a lot of ammo is needed) and 2) when a target appears CJ will shoot automatically at this target. Really dumb.
Or the game tends to crash when you are doing a rampage and you are on a roof of a building or climb onto something or access buildings when wanted. Be sure to save often at home or press R3 twice when in a taxi cab/ police car / fire truck or some else special car (simple quick save).

would you believe you can crank this up to max settings and get 30fps+ all the time!!!

How do you play gta on your Android

[Q] Game compatibility.

Has anyone tried the more demanding games? If so how do they compare to other devices?
I'm tempted as I really want to play Xcom on the move(If it's compatible) But I don't want to lose the games I currently play a lot of.

I play X-Com on the 8.4 S and it runs flawlessly. Also played Shadowrun: Returns with no issues.

Name off some games and I will try out the ones I can. I can tell you that GTA San Andreas runs perfect for me.

All my games are flawless as well

Thanks everyone, they are pretty much top of my wanted list. And some of the 2D stuff, but I'd be surprised if it couldn't handle kairosoft games (amongst others)
My current device can't play Xcom or any of the GTAs, so I'll be upgrading tomorrow.

I installed xcom last night. Runs really well but crashes at certain places such as when you first add an extra generator (but only if you build two things at once) after the first one save then build what ever else it is you want. Also crashes when you first promote someone if you click promote to fast. Just have to find the bugs and avoid them

Majority have been fine but I've run into some slightly weird issues with afew simple/free to play games - Seems like some of them are misdetecting the graphics chipset or something to do with the screen. I know the family guy game wouldnt run initally (null frame error - i think its been fixed now) and the simpsons game seemed to be using the wrong display mode/dpi when i tried it - all the textures seemed blockier than they should be.

I have the WiFi only 8.4 S and I'm having a really hard time trying to play. Sometimes it runs for 30 mins, other times it crashes to home screen immediately upon loading my save file.
I have stock TouchWiz kitkat and I've not rooted yet. Are you rooted, and if so what kernel/rom do you use? I suspect the bloat is messing w my processing power.

your is snapdragon or exynos version ? mine is exynos and it stucked when i clicked play -_-

I also have issues with XCOM, crashes sometimes at the intro cut-scenes and when i can get into the game i get about 2 minutes play at a time. Logged a call with the developer several days ago and they have been terrible. Tab S 10.5

At the time I was not rooted and I was using Nova Launcher. I say in past tense as I returned my Tab S 8.4 for the Nvidia Shield Tablet.

I never had it crash or cut out. I do use Clean Master to launch my games with to make sure I get as many resources as possible for the game I am playing. That and Nova Launcher to remove the UI resource hogs.
Overall the Tab S is a great device and I had no issues with it. Unfortunately the Nvidia Shield Tablet was launched within my return policy and I swapped over.

Shield (hopefully) now compatible with touch apps.

soo ive been crying since day one when i found out i couldnt play NOVA 3 on my newly bought shield, i thought about using a custom firmware but didnt want to lose functionality, i ended up adapting my 4tb hdd as internal memory so once i did that for me there was no goong back lol, so ive been trying to find a way to map controls and thought of everything and nothing seemed to work. sixaxis controller app didnt work when i tried a few times a year back but there has since been an update and now i can map the touch controls for nova and play perfectly so im guessing that opens up a lot more apps and games that require touch we couldnt use before but prob can now. For me this is the best early christmas present i could have asked for. Thought id let you lot know just in case ya didnt.

I use Zulu full Android with game controller2touch it does wonders

Also I noticed we have good fps' for android and most of these games have no chat support which is odd. I play modern combat 5 a lot and have now made a server where we can use any windows, android or iOS device to use voice chat while in game. so download 'discord' free from play store, app store, website etc and join us here. Gameloft games won't work.

Nevermind I messaged Gameloft and they fixed it. ?
I will leave this post incase it happens again or is an issue with the phone.
Gameloft games are showing as incompatible on play store. Have any one else noticed this?
Asphalt extreme, Gangstar New Orleans, asphalt street storm,
And many others either don't show on the store or state incompatible with this device. I'm still on nugget is Oreo showing same?
I have asphalt extreme that was working but now it just crashes when starting it and can't redownload off the store.

Try to download the app from somewhere else for now.
