[Q] Flashed wrong ROM, not booting. S-off. - Verizon HTC One (M7)

Hello. A few months back a friend of mine bought an HTC One from Verizon. She lives in Argentina, so the 3g network doesn't work there, just EDGE. Because of that, she tried to flash a custom ROM. I really don't know why, but she flashed this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2626050
So, now her cellphone doesn't boot. She has a nandroid in the phone, but can't use it because there is no recovery (actually the real problem is that the recovery doesn't boot either (CWM)). I think maybe she can try to use fastboot to recover from that backup (at least is what I've read) but, can you explain me how to do that? Other options are welcome too. She says that at least, fastboot is working. Thank you very much!
PD: sorry for my terrible english.

Usually the fastest and easiest fix is to RUU because the partitions are messed up.
But I noticed not only is it a GSM rom but it's for a different device.

Thank you. We just tried that. The phone still doesn't boot, it freeze on the htc green logo. We've followed the steps of the last post in here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2677015
Do we need to do something else?
PD: now she just told me that she also changed the CID to 11111111.

Have you tried reflashing a recovery? Then do a full wipe, and flash an appropirate rom or restore the nandroid. The phone is unlocked and s-off right?

Hello. Yes, the phone is unlocked and s-off. We tried to reflash a recovery. But when we choose the option to boot the recovery, the phone stucks in "entering in recovery".

Try this recovery http://vzw1files.dyndns.org/RECOVERIES/cwm/recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.4.6-m7vzw.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot erase recovery
fastboot flash recovery filename.img

Hi guys!
Some short questions, is it still necessary to use htvdev.com to unlock the bootloader? And is it already possible to flash the radio.img directly via fastboot?

I have the same question. My HTC ONE X is stuck on flight mode, it's stuck on : "Turning off". This happened after i updated the official phone software a couple of days ago. I have tried everything, even factory reset. But it's still doing the same thing. Do you think flashing the radio fixes this? Is it possible without unlocking the bootloader? Because if this doesn't work, i am going to send the phone back for warrantee. I have only got this phone for 5 days.

Yes, unlocking via htcdev is the only method at the moment if your device isn't already s-off.
And you can flash radio.zip files via a custom recovery.

I know it's a pain but, you should try a factory reset, if that doesn't work I'm afraid you don't really have much choice either root and try flashing a new rom and/radio or send it out for HTC to have q look at.
Sent from my HTC One X
I had a similar problem recently on my stock One X - I had no service and my radio wouldn't turn on. I resolved it by turning off Fast boot (Settings - Power)

I'm wondering a similar thing; can a radio be flashed via Fastboot like you used to on older HTCs?
I have an unlocked bootloader and custom recovery but my SDcard doesn't want to mount in TWRP.

No. What problem are you trying to solve with a new radio?
TWRP and CWM 5.8.4.0 should both be able to mount SD card, are you unable to find the option? Is there an error?

Thought it was a bad flash. After a fresh radio + ROM via TWRP my phone wouldn't boot. Waited 30 or so minutes before performing a hard reset. After rebooting into recovery my SDcard refused to mount no matter what I tried with no way to fix it (wouldn't even wipe).
Kind of a long story but after numerous failed attempts to format it after mounting the SDcard via USB storage on different Windows and Linux machines, I used ADB to push the ROM to the data partition, mounted it as the SDcard and installed it that way. Worked like a charm and after the first boot I was able to format the corrupted SDcard and all was solved.

[Q] Device won't boot past HTC logo, please help!

Hi, after attempting to flash a custom ROM to my phone I'm experiencing a big problem, the phone will not boot past the HTC screen. This is obviously very frustrating as the phone is pretty much rendered useless.
I am able to get into the HBOOT menu by holding the Power button and Volume Down and from there am able to select Recovery and enter the ClockWork Mod recovery screens. As you can tell I'm a 100% noob and I really just want to revert my phone to a working state. My network is Vodafone UK. I can't find an RUU above version 3.13 which is apparently what I have (so it tries updating 3.13 to 3.13 and obviously fails).
Any help on getting my phone to work again would be very very appreciated, thanks.

Download a ROM onto your computer, connect to your phone in recovery, mount the sdcard, move the ROM from your computer onto your phone's sdcard, and flash from recovery. No need for RUU.
Dont forget to wipe.
wipe data/factory reset and format all partitions (except sd card) from recovery.
Go to bananagranolas link in her signature, you'll find everything you need there.
Thanks a lot for your help! I was attempting to flash the JellyTime ROM which I understand must have failed to result in my phone not booting properly. Should I flash a stock ROM or will any ROM suffice?

As long as you are S-OFF and have a custom recovery (CMW or 4EXT) you are able to flash any custom rom you like. Just make sure that you make a full wipe before the flashing (wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition, format system or in 4ext recovery just choose format all partitions except sdcard).
That should leave you up and running again.
Okay great!
I used the HTCDev tools to unlock my boot loader which I understand is different to S-OFF? Could that be while the ROM flashing failed originally?
EDIT: Upon trying to flash the JellyTime AKOP Rom I get a message saying install from SD card complete but it's still stuck at the HTC screen...

If you have an unlocked bootloder, then you have to flash the rom (previous full wipe of course) then reboot bootloader (from advanced options in CWM) and then in fastboot (you should see fastboot usb in red in the phone when plugged to the pc) you have to flash the boot.img inside the rom zip folder.
Extract that file only (not the whole rom) and from a cmd session or terminal as root (located where the boot.img file is) type:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Once that is done (you will get OKAY. finished near the bottom) you can reboot normally by typing in cmd fastboot reboot or choosing reboot from hboot.
My bootloader now says RELOCKED, how can I unlock it again? (I'm really sorry about this)

Use the token HTC sent you when u unlocked it. and typing in cmd the fastboot unlock command.

I'm now looking in the advanced options of CWM, I can see the option "Reboot Recovery" but no "Reboot Bootloader"?

Okay, I wiped all partitions, installed JellyTime AOKP, restarted, went into fastboot, extracted/flash boot file and the rebooted phone.
The phone will now progress from the HTC screen but is now stuck on a black screen, Windows tried to install drivers but failed....

Yes it said so...
EDIT: Not sure if this is an issue with the ROM of if I'm doing something wrong? I went to the "mounts and storage" section of CWM and clicked all the format options accept sdcard. I then installed ROM, went into fastboot and flashed boot.img, it said OKAY twice then finished. Still stuck at black, backlit screen after HTC screen. ROM is JellyTime by randomblame.

EDIT: well, don't I feel stupid. I knew full well from reading that your phone wasn't working, but posted a link to an app. Just not paying attention. Sorry about that.
VBQ24,
You can go back to stock by flashing a stock RUU from your PC.
(Edit: You should relock your bootloader first. you can do so from Hboot. There's an option that says relock bootloader or something like that)
The version of the RUU should be equal or greater to the version that came with your phone. Try this v3.13
However, if you want to flash a custom ROM:
You need to downgrade your device first, get s-off and root, then flash a custom ROM
You need to use the Advanced Ace Hack Kit (AAHK), get it from here.
Make sure to read the manual (called 'effin manual) word by word. There are instructions on how to downgrade.
Follow the instructions, and if you have any questions, ask here.

[Q] rom issue

Hello, I've recently acquired the htc one x from a friend, i came from the sensation. I was trying to do some rom jumping today and put myself into a bit of a pickle.
what you alls need to know is that i accidently deleted the back ups. and now i have no roms to flash and none installed. I can get to twrp and mount to usb, but on the computer end it says i need to format disk before I can do anything. Since that's not really an option I seem to be stuck with no roms and no way to get a rom on it. I would like to put clean 5.0 back on and stick with that until i can better grasp the adb process on the one x. Any help would be appreciated, thank you -

ok, i'll take it from the top- turn on phone into bootloader. I can no longer get to recovery. I have tried flashing twrp to no avail. when i reset it will go to cleanrom and bootloop. I need to completely reset and re install recovery and rom. just can't get it working for some reason
fastboot erase cache
Go recovery and erase the cache and dalvik cache.
i would but now recovery goes to boot loop, even after i try and flash recovery (twrp and cwm)
fastboot erase cache
i have erased cashe in fastboot through one x tool kit and fastboot flasher. now it goes to the rom and the rom crashes and re boots. :/ how can i wipe and re install rom through fastboot?
also if i click recovery it goes to white htc screen with red dev warning text, then loops
I don't know. I don't know what your tool is doing.
Have you tried reflashing latest recovery? I recommend clockworkmod 5.8.4.0.
is that for gsm ? mine is att version, dk if that matters here
Oh FFS.
You're asking questions about a dual core snapdragon phone in a forum for a quad core Tegra3 based phone and you only wonder out loud now whether that matters?
Yes. Yes it does.
Now go ask questions about your phone in the forum for your phone before you break it.

[Q]Unable to boot into recovery

Hi,
i'm using HTC Desire
Bravo DVT1 ENG S-OFF
HBOOT 0.93.2001 (PB992xxxx)
MICROP-031d
And my phone is rooted, but i am unable to run recovery, i tried flashig via fastboot then with Rom Manager but it still doesn't work. When i try to boot into recovery i stuck at HTC sreen (tried from ADB, Terminal, HBOOT, Rom Manager. Tried with different recoveries for ex. CWM,RA,TWRP,..
Try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1751258
tried all the instructions, but the problem persists .... zip file will be installed through the bootloader but nothing changed and the desire to restart the htc logo when i was trying to boot into recovery
Just a theoretical question, is it possible to root device, s-off and flash hboot without unlocking bootloader via HTC DEV?

Well, you could try flashing a recovery through fastboot. Maybe it will work. If it won't, then flash the 2.3 ruu and restart the rooting process.
ok, i tried to flash RUU, and i have a question, why was my bootloader bypassed? is it normal?
After RUU i tried to flash EXT4 recovery, but when i tried boot into recovery i just get white screen with HTC logo, still same issue

you have quite a rare DVT1 device. it would indicate cdma device, but have seen case where it can be gsm as in this thread. is yours a cdma or gsm device (gsm has sim card)?
in that thread the only recovery that would work is RMD recovery, try flashing that through fastboot. i've never used it myself before.
also i've only skim read the first page, also make sure you uninstall rom manager, you don't need it, it's not good for desire.
Big, no HUGE THX mate. finally! my recovery is alive the only working recovery on my device is RMD recovery and my desire is GSM fyi

glad to see you got it working
for whatever reason, RMD recovery is the only compatible one for your rare device (DVT1 and GSM). don't bother switching recoveries as long as RMD can backup, wipe and install roms.
if you're about to install a custom rom which requires sd card partition (most do), we'd normally recommend partitioning sd card with 4ext recovery, but since that doesn't work i'd recommend Gparted.
oh and again, make sure never to use rom manager with desire.
Well everything worked fine, till i faced new issue i haven't found working rom yet, everytime i flash rom i get only HTC splash screen. And i still haven't found fix for it. I am thinking about trying rom for CDMA phone despite the fact that my phone is GSM, but i am not sure what can happen i hope it won't brick my desire

I also have the same base and it's the latest... if you want to go stock then there's a nandroid backup available : http://d-h.st/7oA
Unfortunately, no RUU available for us...
Make sure you do 'fastboot erase cache' each time after flashing something via fastboot to rectify booting issues!
