i second that.... explain for my sanity!
I think that extreme22 just wanted to say that Desire is so much better than his/her 32GB phone (iPhone or N97 maybe?) . But I'm not quite sure...
Yup I pretty much said it, this phone is a hell of alot better than my iphone,
and all u apple fan boys, keep ur comments to ur self,
with the iphone i miss only the option to dock to my car deck, other than that, iphone 3gs i have no use for, i had 1 2 3 3gs phone, and it is the same problems over and over again, no flash no multi-task no bluetooth streaming
the phone is resticted and i hate someone telling me what i can and cant do with what i buy, and the same for iphone 4 dont get me wrong the phone is fancy but useless in certain areas
did ur phone read 3G network or Just E , cuz mine in the US just E and i don't know how to make this phone read 3G . the phone is awesome but this 3G make me annoyed

There is no point - he is on T-Mobile US, and the Desire does not support the necessary bands for 3G on this network.

Hey Everyone,
I recently pre-ordered the Galaxy Nexus from Bell on contract for three years thinking that Wind and Mobilicty are CDMA. (I know, I'm crazy). I have just figured out that they are in fact a GSM network. My question is that if I changed my order from bell from a three year contract to unlocked, will it work on Mobilicity's service? I know there probably won't be 4G speeds but if I can get a plan with unlimited calling and data for $17.50 per month instead of the 500mb and 200 minutes im getting with Bell for $50 a month, I'd rather get it unlocked.
Note: If you say it will work, please provide some evidence of some sort, e.g. some specs that state that the Galaxy Nexus will work with Mobilicity's network
Thanks so much everyone, and if you could reply as fast as possible it would be extremely appreciated as the promotion that they have for $17.50 might be over really soon so I'll buy it right away.
-Mosh
Galaxy Nexus is penta-band 3G phone...so the HSPA version will work on that network.
You're ok with it,enjoy the phone.

Are you sure? I don't mind having slow speeds (HSPA) but my budget is really low and I really want to make sure that the phone will work with Mobilicity out of the box
Yes it will work. Relax

Thanks, but could anyone point me to specifications for the galaxy nexus which tells me what frequencies or radios they use? I'm really bad at this kind of stuff
Thanks again all
Even though you would have a hard time finding any GSM/UMTS/HSPA network it doesn't work on you could always check the list on Wikipedia.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_UMTS_networks#Americas
It says Mobilicity uses the same frequencies as T-Mobile US, a frequency that is both listed in the official specs and is something some people is already using it on without issues.

Compared to HSPA+?
Edit: So the Galaxy Nexus works with 1700 band IV (AWS)? http://imgur.com/NJrCK
Edit2: So, according to http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_nexus-4219.php, the galaxy nexus has the following:
2G Network GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900
3G Network HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100
So Mobilicity definitely supports this?
Edit 3: According to a Wikipedia page on Mobilicity:
"Network
The company also has a cell-site sharing agreement with Bell Mobility to share cell tower space in all Mobilicity zones[12]. The network uses the UMTS IV frequency band, also known as AWS, to provide UMTS (with HSPA) service[13]. Using this band, user equipment transmits at 1710–1755 MHz, and receives at 2110–2155 MHz. AWS is the same frequency as Wind Mobile and Videotron in Canada and T-Mobile USA. Like WIND, Mobilicity does not have a 2G, EDGE, GPRS GSM Network.
Mobilicity's network is compatible with the same handsets and devices as Wind Mobile and Videotron networks, and UMTS handsets and devices offered by T-Mobile USA.

So is the Galaxy Nexus a UMTS handset that works with T-Mobile USA?
Thanks again guys, sorry for being a complete noob

I already said so, yes. Should be no problem. My mention of T-Mobile US was only if you wanted to know actual users who are already running it on those frequencies.
Yes, it's a UMTS handset that works with T-Mobile USA. I don't know how I can make it any clearer.
EDIT: Well, to clarify it a bit more I can say that HSPA (HSDPA and HSUPA) HSPA+ are improvements upon UMTS. In other words, every HSPA device is a UMTS device.

Perfect, thanks so much!Also, according to other websites it has UTMS 1700/2100 or HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 or Network (3G) HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 so basically it will work for sure right?
Sorry for repeatedly asking the same thing, I just want to be sure. One more yes, and I'm going to change the order from 3 year term to unlocked

How many different ways do we have to say this? It has quadband GSM and pentaband 3G, if you put in a North American SIM in the phone, it will work.
Hi,
I was looking fot the specs at gsmarena and it says that is HSDPA 850/1700/2100 capable, but in another sites, they said that is only 1700/2100.
Can someone confirm me that please.
Thanks.
The phone`s box states it is HSDPA 850/1700/1900/2100 capable. I know data works with At&t, so it has either 850 or 1900 HSDPA frequency but i am not sure if it has both or either one.

The Thing is that Im from Claro Dominican Republic, and is only HSDPA 850, I really need to be sure in order to buy the phone.
Thanks.
Well as long as it is on the box, we should rely on that info. You should not have any problems IMO.
it does work it's been proven already by many that has travelled to Europe on 850
actually most of the Europe is on 2100, of course it depends on the carrier but like 60% of the Europe is on 2100.
I have Korean LG G Pro F240L
everything works alright except that it doesn't fully use it's 3g capabilities
I live in an area where 3G signal is not that stable, usually 2-4 bars, signal can drop for a few seconds every now and then, I use telstra in Australia, which use 850Mhz/2100Mhz 3G network (850 in most areas, 2100 only for extra coverage)
I set the network preference as Auto, the trouble is that most of the time the phone sticks to 2G/GPRS with small icon on the top showing "G",
and if I want to use 3g I have to go to the network setting and change it from auto to "WCDMA only", the network will change to 3g (icon on top showing 3g) with signal strength about 2-4 bars
obviously with unstable 3g signals I can't keep it "WCDMA only" all the time, so I have to change it back to auto.
once it's in auto the phone will not revert to GPRS straightaway, it will keep going with 3g for a while and then if there is a drop of 3g signal it will then change to 2g/gprs and stay that way.
is there anyway to set the phone in "3g preferred" state where 3g is utilized automaticly whenever the internet is needed? (as far as I know, no such option exists).
do you have any trouble with your 3g settings? please share, thanks
I have discovered something new
in the hidden menu-WCDMA service menu-GSM/WCDMA band, when you click on WCDMA 1900 and WCDMA 2100, it shows success, whereas when you click on WCDMA 850 it displays fail
it seems that the phone is not using the stable 850 band at all, rather it relies on the 2100 band, this explains the erratic signal strength
I did a bit more digging
the band frequency for korean providers are
SK (S) 2G (CDMA) 800, 3G (UMTS/HSPA) 2100, 4G (LTE) 850/1800
LG U+ (L) no 2G, 3G (CDMA/EVDO)1800, 4G (LTE) 850/2100
KT (K) no 2G, 3G (UMTS/HSPA) 2100, 4G (LTE) 850/900/1800
also
telstra 2G (GSM/EDGE) 900/1800, 2G (UMTS/WCDMA/HSPA) 850 (main 99% population) /2100 (minor), 4G (LTE) 1800
AT&T (E980) 2G(GSM/GPRS/EDGE) 850/1900, 3G(UMTS/HSPA) 850/1900
strange that there doesn't seem to be direct connection/conflict between telstra bands and the LG U+ bands, i.e. if my F240L is able to use GSM and WCDMA 2100, why not WCDMA 850
I believe G pro is a global phone that supports all communication standards
I am unsure about the root of the problem, is it the matter of settings (i.e. can be solved by tweaking the service menu), or the problem of incompatible radio (hence can be solved by flashing appropriate radio)
also is there anyway to tell the band frequency the phone is using? I did my search and nothing yielded, I believe there is no such solution
my question comes down to how to enable/unlock 850 band on this phone?
If you use AT&T and have a korean phone, do you have similar problem? (as shown above AT&T partly relies on 850 band as well)
also if i guess right the problem is not limited to LG G Pro, any LG Korean phone potentially will have similar issues, I tried search optimus G forum but nothing turned up.
Same problem, korean phone wrong band

I have since learned that basebands are all hardware encoded, at least for LG phones, and there is no way to enable WCDMA 850 band if it is not originally supported by the phone, flashing the radio will not change the hardware capability of the phone
The Korean LG G pro supports only
2G : 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
3G : 900/2100 MHz
4G, LTE: F240K - 900/1800 MHz (Band 8 & 3) F240S - 850/1800 MHz (Band 5 & 3), F240L - 850/2100 MHz (Band 5 & 1)
I have since change the network provider (who provides 3G on 2100 band), it's not ideal but it's the only solution for me

Hi Bro,
I am facing same issue regarding Network. I am using stock Jelly Bean 4.1.2 LG G PRO F240L. My Cell is not Rooted
Please tell me what did you do regarding this issue ?
Unstable/Weak phone signals
Singles on my korean LG G Pro are very unstable and after every few minutes my phone shows "Emergency calls only" with an empty signal bar and then suddenly gets full signal back with in few seconds.
I am using custom Android 4.1.2
Same time my signals on my Xperia Z phone with same network remains stable at same place.
Is it a software issues ??
If yes then how I can resolve it ?

Hello i was using 4g lte on my f240k smoothly, than i updated to lollipop my imei was gone and afterwards i again downgraded to kitkat but problem is 4g lte is now nit working for which i downgraded
Now my carrier also saying handset is not compatible. But previously i have used 4g lte on this same device.
Your expertise required in this regard.
Hello, everyone.
So, I have a AT&T G3 with me and planning to go to South Korea and use Korea cellular carrier while I am staying there. With this, I have a question regarding whether my G3 will have LTE signal in South Korea
*(Information that I am going to write below is from both gsmarena and wikipedia)
For AT&T G3, its LTE band supports LTE 700 / 850 / 1700 / 1800 / 1900 / 2100 / 2600
The cellular company that I am planing to use is SK telecom and they support LTE band 1, 3, 5 and frequency of 850, 1800, 2100
(I will attach the screenshots of those information with this post)
With this information, would I able to use full LTE with my G3 while I am in Korea?
Appreciate your comments.
Its kinda hard to say. I thought there using lte-a
But your maybe lucky and 4g or lower but i wouldnt count on it.
It all depends on the bands. It doesnt mean because you 2100mhz to, that they use the same band to.
Just go over there sell yours if it doesnt work and buy a local g3
