Paranoid Android 4.2 for the ZL - Testers needed - Sony Xperia ZL

Hey guys,
I'm the Paranoid Android maintainer for the Xperia Z and I've had a few people ask me to build Paranoid Android for the ZL so here is a test build (PA 4.2 BETA1 KitKat):
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23329332407580322
PA Gapps here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2397942
Please test and report back.
Cheers.
PS - There is no PIE or Peek features in this ROM as they are closed source.
Same installation as any other AOSP/CM ROM:
- Fastboot flash the boot.img from the zip (fastboot flash boot boot.img)
- Boot into TWRP, do a Factory Reset and wipe cache and dalvik cache
- Flash ROM and PA Gapps
- Reboot

Thanks for this!

Yes it should be stable, after all the ZL is pretty much identical to the Z. Try it and report back

ask the mods to move it to development thread you would get better response

Found my phone and pa released for it! The day cant get better
Tested it and seems smooth :good: , havent found any bugs yet (cant test bluetooth music streaming as i don't have any device around)
Great job with the rom

Just asking if pie controls are closed source then xposed module gravity box cant include it and cm too

I'm just waiting for the PIE sauce *chuckles*, as soon as I get that I'll build a new version and create a proper thread.
As for Peek, because it's a new feature, legacy devices (pretty much everything other than Nexus devices) won't see it for a while as it's closed source. It's also fairly buggy and battery life takes a massive hit at this moment.

Calls work fine, in fact the earpiece seems louder and more clearer than omnirom :good:
btw is the ART runtime optimised or modified?
because switching between dalvik and ART seemed too fast as compared to other roms(nearly same apps)

Okay thanks, and yes ART has been optimised.

just noticed something obvious, the calls would cut frequently against the face, if 'knock on' and "power button ends call" are both enabled.......the clear reason being, if the phone is moved when across the face, the screen registers a double tap and hence sending the power key input to the device(as the screen is off because of proximity sensor).
This probably is a common thing for all the double tap to wake roms, posted here for a headsup

Here is the official PA thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2690755
For those that are already running the test build you should be able to use Paranoid OTA to update.

AOSP built ROM with some community features added to it.
Basic GApps are included with ROM and missing GApps can be downloaded from Google Play.

try flashing the boot.img first...
@deedwar is this a stable version? If radio is iffy how can we use this? Just to be clear when you say radio, radio is the fm radio or the radio antenna for service signal?
The new version brings an error while installing. "some symlinks failed" "error installind updater script".
I've downloaded the rom 3 times from different servers and the error is present all the time.
What's the problem?
Wipes are all done by me, also flashing the kernel with ADB extra.
I'm coming from mokee rom.

I just installed the system image to check on mine i didnt do a complete install of the ROM itself so that would explain why i didnt see the same issues. I will do a clean build and repost it tomorrow when i wake up. Sorry for that.
In the meantime i relinked the older version with the bluetooth problem and people can install that and just install the new version over the top when i release it tomorrow.
By radio i mean FM RADIO not mobile signal.

I expect it to perform better than other roms though, because it's AOSP (Stock Android)...
Just updated, installed and worked for me over the top of the old version at the very least but i dont see why it shouldnt just work.
Couldn't wait for the weekend, so eventually flashed the Rom here at the office... =)
Working great so far, like a nexus...
Maybe we can call our device now, Acro S GPE... Lol... =)

Thanks for the updated kernel!
I got one issue tough, the most recent update brakes compatibility with the Gravity box module (Xposed framework).
In my humble opinion, in AOSP the UI should stay unaltered/vanilla, it's what makes this ROM unique.
All customization can be done by the user with Xposed framework and the Gravity box module for AOSP.
For example:
Clear all in recent apps
RAM bar in recent apps
Reboot options
Tiles customization
Torch options
and further on...
Other pros:
Customizing is an option rather than hardcoded in the framework and forced upon the user.
Saves you time as a dev.
and further on...

There is another branch that is there that i will compile from time to time that will be vanilla. However there are a few things i cant live without and while i do install the xposed framework i dont want to have to install a whole heap of mods just to do a few basic things.

Wow, seems to work great so far.
The mediascanner issue my phone was facing in CM11 isn't happening, which is great (on cm11 it couldn't see folders until they were renamed, and then couldn't read some id3 tags.
A couple of bugs to report:
Screen backlight doesn't seem to turn off, the screen goes black but the backlight stays on.
GPS doesn't seem to lock.
I didn't have time to test further stuff, but I'll happily try the next version or any patches you want tested (I've restored my backup as I need GPS for ingress).

Thanks for reporting. I have noted it down. I noticed one more bug, that the camera application isnt present. And other apps won't work. This is because the HAL patch isnt merged in omniROM code. So, I have to make a request in the gerrit. For now, I have added the parameters in my build. It is compiling at this moment.
There's another bug. Screen brightness doesn't change when trying to alter it. It's always on full.

[ROM][I317/t0lteatt][lollipop/5.0.2][UNOFFICIAL]CyanogenMod 12(1/10/2015)

I'm uploading a build of CyanogenMod 12 for the t0lteatt I've built. This build is still very alpha, so not everything will work as expected, but much of the basic functionality is there and this may be capable of being a daily driver for those who have to live on the bleeding edge. I'm not sure how long I'll work on keeping the build updated, but it looks like I'll be working on it for now. Hope y'all like it.
Known Issues:
Battery life may be shorter than normal (Turning off Adaptive Brightness will greatly help with battery life)
Netflix and other DRM protected apps do not work.
Media sharing services, such as Snapchat, may not work or may have issues.
Twitch may not work.
Bluetooth can be sorta glitchy.
And much, much more (As stated, this build is very alpha, so issues can be expected)
Instructions:
Download ROM here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=22696
Download GAPPS here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/par...apps-official-to-date-pa-google-apps-t2943900
Reboot into recovery
Full wipe: Wipe cache, dalvik, wipe data/factory reset, clean to install a new rom, format system.
Flash ROM downloaded above.
Flash GAPPS downloaded above.
Reboot into system.
Let the system rest for a bit and settle in. (It seems the system can be a bit temperamental if you try to use it too soon... At times.)
If things don't work after letting the ROM settle, you may need to reboot a couple of times for everything to work properly.
Enjoy the lollipop goodness!
I would like to give thanks to the following:
sbrissen, DerTuefel1980 and all other contributors (I know I'm missing a lot, but they're the only ones I can think of right off hand, so I appologize to anyone who deserves mentioning for not mentioning y'all by name, and swear yall have my deepest respect) for their contributions to developing and maintaining the t0lte and related device trees that eventually allowed lollipop to be built for our device.
Ivan_Meler for the original camera fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-2/orig-development/cyanogenmod-12-alpha-1-n7100-t2949644
mr.nth.na.vn for his work-around to get sbrissen's i605 build to work correctly on t0lte.
Voyebanm for his posts and links which helped me to find the answers I needed.

Thanks for the hard work! I got navigation but no gps lock but not an issue, camera fix worked for me. The only issue I had was no screen rotation. I flashed a sensor fix and all is good. Here is the link for the sensor fix: https://mega.co.nz/#!1xkSxTDJ!o8DQkNT6UvjNoxfgoxjNq2UnZz_6bO3ivYwMmvRv7dc
I am using this as my daily driver and I am grateful for everyone's time and hard work for giving our phones new life!

Thanks for posting the sensor fix. I had forgot all about someone mentioning flashing it to fix proximity sensor issues as well. I don't seem to have the sensor issues myself, so it just slipped my mind. I'm glad ya liked the build. Have a good one!
This is fantastic! Did you port this from the N7100? Was it difficult? Anyone else noticing any major issues?

This is built from CyanogenMod source with a couple of cherry picks of commits by sbrissen in code review. Many, many other, much more intelligent than me, people worked their arses off to get the t0lte and related device trees brought up for lollipop. All I did was build it with the t0lteatt specific information already coded for CM-11.0. Glad you're enjoying the ROM.
Have a good one!
everything works perfectly

I'm uploading a build of CyanogenMod 12 for the t0lteatt I've built. This build is still very alpha, so not everything will work as expected, but much of the basic functionality is there and this may be capable of being a daily driver for those to have to live on the bleeding edge. I'm not sure if I'll work on keeping the build updated, but it's always a possibility. Hope y'all like it.
Known Issues:
GPS may not work (GPS Test does not see any satellites, but navigation still seems to work, so I don't know)
Battery life may be shorter than normal
Camera issues (see below)
And much, much more (As stated, this build is very alpha, so issues can be expected)
Instructions:
Download ROM here: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95857557620392172
Download GAPPS here: https://s.basketbuild.com/filedl/gapps?dl=gapps-lp-20141109-signed.zip
Reboot into recovery
Full wipe: Wipe cache, dalvik, wipe data/factory reset, clean to install a new rom, format system.
Flash ROM downloaded above.
Flash GAPPS downloaded above.
Reboot into system.
Skip initial setup.
Go to Settings > Language & input > Current Keyboard.
Check on "Hardware".
Setup Wifi, APN, Google account, etc in Settings.
If you have problems with camera (no back camera/Can't connect to camera):
Download Google Camera from the Play Store.

Everything works perfect , just one little bug ... My contacts from google dont displey when someone calls nor are the showing up in messaging app. Any ideas
And the camrea is working front and back
Tried to get the camera to work sadly I couldn't. Other than that and some graphical glitches on chrome beta(which is probably just not completely ready for lollipop) everything is running great.
I tried to install this an it gets stuck in bootloop.

Look for the Lolipop shift kernel and install it , it fixes fron and rear camrea
After I did the dirty flash the camera works without doing anything extra.
Got a quick question for you guys. I have flashed this on my note 2 and have an unofficial CM12 I am working on flashed on my Note 4.
I however cannot figure out why Netflix will not work on either build. It is not a lollipop issue, because it works on my tablet, it seems to be an issue on CM12 only.
Would love to know if you guys have a solution, or know what might be missing from the build, so I can bring it back over to the CM12 note 4 thread. Thanks!

I will try this later tonight and see how it is... I just upgraded to the z3. The front speakers were what made me get it... Lol. I will still lurk here once in a while.
Okay... Did a new build... This should fix some soft reboots, the first boot setup keyboard issue, some of the camera issues and maybe a few other issues. https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=95863780491132977
There's over 200 downloads for the first build, so it seems a fair few have given it a try. Thank y'all for that. Just keep in mind, this is still an alpha stage ROM, so there will still be issues and errors, but hopefully, they'll be few enough to make it usable. Have a good one!

Hello! I have stopped all android related work year ago, last month I decided to try @SuperLamic device trees from Z1 forum, but I wasn't abble to boot CM kernel and I decided to use stock kernel and try boot it, done. Had some touch screen isues and some more but after some days of working on it finally made kernel fully functional. I have contacted SuperLamic and got his permission and want to share build backported from his Z1 but its a bit diferent because I'm using different kernel -
patched stock kernel, here is build and changelog , almost fully working! I have opened this thread mainly bacause I want to try help SuperLamic and hope we get clear rom on booth devices. I will share working stock kernel on git hope at a weekend! At a weekend I will solder uart on my seccond z1c and dump bootloop log and provide it to SuperLamic since he was unable to debug an CVE clean kernel which have bootloop because of his broken Z1, hope we switch soon to that kernel on booth devices. One more diferencie my build is selinux enforce, I will try to make a diff file and provide patch for Z1 guys. Curently done this using my PoC which curenly have updated selinux stufs, but I will need to decompile booth sepolicy and make an diff file which we can use to easy implement into Z1 and Z1C device tree.

Here's what I found -
* default screen dpi = 480. Not a problem to change, but it's pretty funny looking
* 'mtp host has stopped' message, whenever certain activity chooser functions are called on. Doesn't cause any problems, just press 'ok' and it goes away.
I forgot to change dpi to 320, next build will get that change. About mtp host stopped working, solution (temporary) is to disable mtp app in setting so it will no more cause those popups, I didn't noticed anything aftected by disabling that app, have no idea what is usage of these app. When I get more free time will look into source code to get idea whats going on with that app. Thanks for reporting!
I'm curently on stock rom since my battery is almost dead, need replacement battery Anybody recommend me an good battery for z1c?
Hi @mujenii!!
