My g pro fell and the glass cracked and I don't know what to do. The screen is working perfectly though so that means only the glass needs to be replaced I wanted to ask someone if the glass available on eBay or amazon or etradesupply are reliable or not . I have to get it from an online shop because this phone is uncommon in our country. If someone can help me it would be much appreciated

If the phone is still working then the damage isn't bad. You just have to replace the glass. Also known as the digitizer. I have made many purchases from Ebay and Amazon. And while some of the things I got didn't meet my expectations, most was fine. I would recommend you read, read, read reviews BEFORE you make a purchase. Companies can make all the wild claims about their products they want. I rely on what the people say about the product before I buy anything. Just be sure to get the digitizer for your make and model and if replacing it yourself is out of your league, bring it to a repair shop to have it done.

Will this one do even though it doesn't say it has a digitizer

Yes. That will work but why not spend the few extra bucks and get the whole digitizer? It's more work to replace the whole thing but it's worth it in the end just in case taking that digitizer cable off doesn't go so well.

Correct. Just buy the screen with the cable already on it.

Those micro ribbon cables are very delicate. One false move and you can tear them. Even a repair place will replace the whole digitizer and not just the glass for that very reason. Spend the extra money for the whole digitizer.
Alright thanks a lot guys you have given me enough information about the screen that I should buy and the risks I'll get the screen and most likely I'll get it replaced in a shop

Anyone know of a legit place to get a replacement front glass for gnex. My digitizer is fine so I don't need that. I've never done this before, just looking for someone to point me in the right direction.

$17.90 for front glass, not bad. I have a surface scratch on mine that has been bugging me, might be cheap enough to be worth the trouble. Has anybody had any experience ordering from that website? Is there any instructions included on how to replace the items or is that something that you just have to find on your own?

Any luck with this? Looking to do the same with my i515 gnex, does anyone happen to know if the glass cutouts for the two versions are the same?
From what I read, its strongly recommend to replace the whole unit(screen, digitizer, and glass) because its a huge pain to get glass off if you are lucky enough to do so.

I know its tricky, but i've done it before(heat is my friend). Once you do it once it actually isn't bad especially because the nexus has the slight lip around the screen which helps you big time with positioning the glass. I'm just confused if the two glass cutouts are the same or not.
So I still have broken glass that is finally starting to fall out whilst the cracks have gotten larger, no thanks to my two year old who loves to throw toys.
Has anyone seen the glass replacement, not the digitizer, last long term?
I'm trying to hold out until October but concerned that I'm going to lose the screen entirely soon.

My phone has EXACTLY the same crack pattern!! And I know how bad it feels.
Is this some design issue with the GNex stress points?
I asked the Samsung Care Center and they asked around $185 for the replacement (glass and digitizer)
That is more than half of the phone cost. :crying:
(Edit: They said as the front glass, the digitizer and the lcd are glued together, it is impossible to get a seperate glass replacement)
Luckily I had a screen guard on so the glass pieces are not falling apart yet.
You can get the glass and ask a trustworthy maintenance guy for helping replace it.
I haven't tried yet. But might try soon. :fingers-crossed:

I had mine replaced. It was great for the 20 mins I got to use it. And then SDS hit it lol. If you get an official one it fits nicely.
We have a phone tech at work who did it for me and he said it was easy to do.
You think if I paid to have samsung replace it that would be best?

Well, you'd still have an intact warranty, at least.
My mrs had a note 1 and last December smashed the screen, it was approx £200 to get it replaced, which was almost the value of the device at the time. So I bought her a note 2 for xmas. She's either very clumsy or very cleaver

I smashed my Australian GN2 - but a couple of months after buying. I don't think the glass is as Gorilla as they claim. The official ways to get it fixed all seem fairly expensive but there are some diy videos on youtube and there seems to be a difference between replacing just the glass and replacing the whole screen.
I sent mine in to SquareTrade a few weeks ago. They charged me $99 (deductible) but replaced the screen and the chrome edges. Phone looks like brand new.

Hello there
A few days ago I was using the public transport when my Note II fell on the ground. When my girlfriend asked if it was broken, I replied that the Note II was unbreakable. When I picked it up my screen was broken (karma hits player 1 for one million thousand trillion points). I mailed to the store I bought it from and they told me it would cost 250 euro's.
I'm wondering whether this is a normal price for a screen replacement.
Thank you for the replies!
Stores always want to rip you off! I have seen issues about screen on the galaxy s3 which obviously is different but almost the same. The glass can be bought for under $10 online and there are plenty of YouTube videos with instructions on how to do change it yourself. So to answer your question yes I think $250 is wayyyyy too much

If it were me, I'd attempt to fix it myself, after reading up extensively and making sure I had the right tools.
Only you can contemplate whether it's worth it for you, watch some YouTube and make a decision

The alternative is getting it fixed in a local 'foreign' shop here in my city. Not entirely reliable, but I have little to lose.

Did you ask if they were going to change just the front glass or the whole display such as glass+ digitizer+amoled? Because if it's just the glass then it would be a major rip off! It's not that simple to just change the glass since it glued with an adhesive and you'll need to be very careful when removing it.

I'd do some research before running to pay. These companies tell us w/e they want in hopes of making more money off customers

First of all. If the screen is scratched or broken but still works it means than the screen is not damaged. Only upper glass over screen is broken and you can buy one from ebay for 20$ and replace yourself by video tutorial on youtube. Anyway if you fail to repar it yourself you can anytime go and replace whole screen for 250 eur. But I think its worth to try to repair upper glass only if screen is still responding after damage.

My brother has just informed me my dog has somehow broke my screen. I currently can't take pictures, but will later upload some either tonight or tomorrow.
His description is "the bottom corner is cracked and there's a crack through the screen (probably doesn't mean a hole through the screen, just a crack going horizontally or vertically)"
Is this worth fixing and repairing? Or is a new tablet the best solution? Just general answers since I don't know the full extent of the damage yet.
Thanks.

Well, it's 88 bucks to buy the part from etradesupply (if digitizer and glass, if just glass, then it's less but then you must use a heat gun and hope you can do it yourself), if you can do it yourself, it may be worth it, else, buy a new one, and either sell the old one for parts or keep it for extra parts. You get a new one, if shopping locally, you can try and see the serial and date of mfg and maybe get a good batch, and you get a new warranty to boot.
I'll check out the damage tonight and determine if I can fix it. I've never opened up a mobile device, but I know enough about computers I may be able to fix it. My brother has also fixed iPods for people.
Know of any sites that might buy nexus 7 parts? Maybe just eBay or something?

Yeah, ebay seems to be the ticket.
Photos if the damage. Maybe fixable. Touch doesn't work so probably needs digitizer.
Input on if its do-able?

A cracked LCD display and digitizer is very doable. You just need to know how and be able to work on small electronics. It will take some finesse. Only you know if you can physically do it. If you do take on the project you will want to mind the glass shards. You'll play hell getting them out of your fingers.
Edit: I always recommend getting the digitizer flex ribbon as well because the can fracture.
I've only dealt with PC components, but it should be easy enough. Find some step BG step instructions, watch videos, learn about the hardware of the Nexus 7.
What's the best deal on a replacement kit?

I've decided instead of fixing it myself I'll sell the one I have and buy a refurbished one. I don't have the time to fix it and I'd much rather not risk $130 and it not work in the end.
What would a reasonable asking price be for say eBay?

The screen and digitizer is the most expensive and thus most sought after part when buying a parts tablet/phone. If you find someone who would have a use for harvested chips you might get a bit more for it. Just my opinion but if you get, IDK, 40 you're doing good.
Edit: I think 20-25 might be a reasonable eBay price though.

I can't see the pictures, BTW if the cost to fix is more than 60-70% of new one, you should just sell it "as it" or for part on eBay, and buy a new one.

considering you will not get much for it, why not keep it for parts and buy a same model new/refurb?

I have no purpose to keep it for parts. Sure it might be fun to take apart, but what else could I use from it? Camera maybe?
I'm probably going to sell it on eBay, Craigslist, or wherever to get some money and buy a new one.
I thought about refurbished until I won a $25 eBay gift card, so why not get a brand new one?

Hi,
Does anyone tried this digitizer? My friend have this phone and crack the glass, but the screen is intact.
I was going to buy from ebay, but then I checked etradesupply and found that one, without the screen.. Is it easy to install? Otherwise I found this one too .
Thanks
First one is only glass, dont have chip. So buy second one.
