I know there's an option to set the touch key lights as "always off" but it doesn't work. It switches temporarily off, but as soon as I open an app or press the power Button, they turn back on. They seem to default to the 1.5 second duration. I just clean installed this ROM so I know it's not something a factory reset will solve. I'm using a stock (slightly nodded) touchwiz 4.3 ROM (agriff's i747z). Any suggestions or hacks I can install to fix this?
The optimal solution would be like how 4.1.1 worked: the touch key lights only turn on when you touch them.

So here's my problem, I can press the power button to start up my touch pro 2, but after the OS loads, it doesn't function to turn off the screen or to power off my device. So now, it just goes dim after 30 seconds but still stays lit and the only way to turn the phone off is to pull the battery. What can be done?

Witch rom do you use? What kind of cabs did you install? Other tweaks? Please be more specific so we can help
Stock Tmo Win6.1 rom. Nothing installed really, this problem was present ever since the fresh install. It can't be physical because the power button is recognized prior to OS boot, and I can get into the bootloader fine as well.
Maybe there is some software that can map the keys properly?
Try this program and see if it solves you're problem. I will let you remap you're hardware keys.

That program doesn't let me do anything with the power button. It doesn't even let me assign a power button FUNCTION to the end button. I don't know what's going on.
There are different restart programs you can install that will include an app. You should change the times for your screen to turn off as well. If there isnt' water damage take your phone in to the provider and you should be able to get a new one.
On touchwiz stock there is an option to change how long the capacitive button backlights stay on from what I believe is 1.5 seconds all the way up to "always on while the screen is on". With basically every other rom there are no options like this, it's just on, or off. But the "on" is only 2 seconds, and I would like for them to be on the entire time the screen is on. The option in CM under advanced>sensors says Enable backlight keys - Light up touch keys when screen is on....however they are still on a 2 second timer.
I tried an app which stated to have this option called "pimp my rom" but it was oddly missing it.
I'm currently on the lattest cm10.1 nightly, is there a mod or something I can edit to get this to work?
This was an amazing feature I had on my G2 running Andromadus Mimicry ROM back about a year ago.
If you held the power button down for 2 seconds when the screen was off, it would activate the LED flash and essentually turn your phone into a flashlight. This is MUCH more convenient and intuitive than tapping the power button, swiping to unlock your screen, clicking on the Torch app, then clicking the lightbulb to turn on the flash.
Does anyone know of a ROM or app for the LG Nitro that has this? Supposedly it is an AOKP feature, so I installed JellyBAM which is a blend of various ROMs including AOKP and I was unable to find any setting to enable this.

to save you some time it isn't in the PAC ROM, or avatar ROM either.

In CM10.1 (or -based roms) you can simply press pwr (no need to even unlock), swipe down, and click the torch "plate", which instantly turns on the light. Then just press again to turn off.. Pretty easy IMO.

CM 10.1 has the option to set Torch similarly to the harware buttons like said above but I believe it cannot be set to the lock/power button. For example all you need to do press the lock button then hold down the home button and it automatically turns the LED on and after you're done you hold to turn it off. With jellybam v7.1 you have to unlock/enter pattern and hold the set hardware button . But by far personally Jellybam is a much better Rom at least for an experinced and it wouldn't be worth it to switch over something like that. Try setting the Torch wiget to one of the side screens at the lock screen. If you come up with something better or have a question please post :fingers-crossed:
Setting it to the Notification Bar or Lock Screen is nice, but nothing beats holding one button down and pretending your phone is a physical flashlight :/
Maybe one day someone will port the AOKP feature over to the Nitro.
Using an app called Torchie, just press both 'volume buttons' together to turn on/off torch anytime. It runs as a background service and just works anytime, even when screen off (if enabled from Torchie Settings). It kinda make your phone feel like a conventional battery operated torch. No root required.

U have a stock Galaxy Tab S T800, and among weird battery issues I posted about here, my touch key lights won't turn on at all. I've tried setting the duration to 1.5 seconds, 6 seconds, and Always On, and they never come on. Has anyone else had this issue? Is there a setting somewhere else that could be disabling the touch key lights?
Never mind, I found the setting in Power Save Mode to disable the Touch Key Lights.
When watching some show with XBMC the soft keys stay continually on , I need to know if an Xposed module or something else can do the trick to turn them off?
Are you on stock ROM or cm11? For stock just turn power saving on and it should be off. For cm11 there's an option for that in settings, buttons, backlight

I am on stock that was easy thanks, just wondering what else this power saving turn off?
Why don't you just turn off the lights in the settings? It's under Display.
