Hi all,
I bought my Note 10.1 (Edition 2014) during a trip to new york (great price) & i brough it back to France.
2 months after my return, i drop the tablet from a chair (about 10 cm high) & the screen begun to turn black.
After a few minutes, the screen was completly black
There is absolutly no scratch on the screen so i tried to plug it directly to my tv through usb/hdmi convertor.
Once plugged, everything is working fine on the tv (the tablet screen is still black), the touch screen is working on the tablet, sounds too.
I check the samsung warrantly & it's not applicable in France for product bought outside Europe
I didn't find any website selling LCD screen (only touch screen but i think it's not the problem).
Do you have any ideas how to save my tablet ?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Julien

@kouller if you call up Samsung they may allow you to post it to the US to get it repaired.
If you tell them it fell even though it probs had an underlying issue anyways they will not fix it.

My tablet also went completely dark
The screen and digiziter are fine, can hear the startup-sound and feedback from the touch..
So now im sending it in for repairs..
Got my note back from the repair company today..
And guess what, they didn't find any thing wrong with it!!
I could not powered it off before shipping, so I think the solution was to drain the battery completely...

I've had the phone since June last year and it's been working fine. However after flashing different firmware and changing roms the touch screen of the phone seemed to die by being a lot less responsive until it became completely unresponsive. The phone starts up fine and the screen displays everything correctly but the touch screen just doesn't work. Occasionally I can unlock by sliding it open but after that I can't get on anything. Would this be down to an issue with the digitizer?
Thanks for any replies in advance.
Could be the digitizer, or it could also be the ribbon cable inside the slider.

Thanks for the reply, I've just ordered a new digitizer with ribbon so I'll see how it goes and report back. Cheers again.

Hey I know this is years ago but can you remember if this worked for you? I'm having this issue.
GT-N5110 wifi version. Ive had this device for 10 days. Out the box it was running 4.1.2 and seemed work great other than the occasional 3-5 seconds when screen would become unresponsive during normal use. After using it for a few days I decided to go ahead and update to 4.2.2 thinking maybe it would fix the screen issue. It did fix that issue but now im having another problem. After the device sits dormant for awhile the screen doesnt respond to touch but still works fine with the s pen. Ill turn it on after sitting all night and after swiping to unlock the screen it becomes unresponsive. I usually have to lock/unlock the screen several times before it will start responding. After it starts working I can be on it for hours with no more problems. But if I lock the screen an set it down for awhile when I go to use it again it does the samething. It seems like it has to warm up. I tried doing factory data reset but that didnt help. It is rooted also but the only thing ive done so far is get rid of some bloatware.(i didnt root it untill after the problem started). Anyone have any advice?
Do you have your note in a cover , and if so does it have a magnet.

That does sound rather crazy, the unresponsiveness is out of the ordinary... did you try turning off a lot of the extra features built in by Samsung? another thing you could do is download Clean Master from the play store and take a look at your Ram use-age and clean out some cache files with it, this might help with the lag. The touch response could be hindered due to a case or screen protector... other than that the only thing i could think is if there was physical damage done to it before that could cause the touch screen to act that way.
Ummmm... I would have taken it back to the store and asked for a replacement.
That is not normal at all. even with the device's settings left alone, there should not be any issues with responses with touch.
Note... The pen feature is totally separate from touch. The screen has two different features, one being a digitizer for the pen function the other for touch. It is possible that during assembly that the connection for the touch screen is faulty, as a bad solder joint during wave process could make the connection heat related. As the device cools, the contacts contract causing a fault with touch operation. When heated up from normal use, expansion forces contact between connector and board for normal operation to function with touchscreen.

The problem was my samsung book cover! Can't believe samsung would make a cover that causes these kinds of issues. Glad I only paid 7 bucks on ebay instead of 50 at best buy. Thanks guys for the comments!

Thanks for the FYI. I was using the moko whatever with a keyboard and I got the freezes all the time. I was thinking about the official Samsung one but if that gives you problems then forget it. I almost sold this thing on eBay cause I couldn't take the freezes anymore. Now I use a tpu case with it and couldn't be happier

Kind of stumped and wanted to get others opinions on the matter or if compatibility issue etc.
I have an original all white 16gb T-Mobile non-LTE T999 Galaxy S3. Well after many bezel cracks and screen wear and menu button going out I decided to rebuild the phone and remodel different color. So I purchased everything in black and red.
I picked up a fully pre-assembled new Garnet Red Display/Digitizer assembly received it yesterday. I swapped the assembly and re-assembled phone. Turned on fine but would hang. Triple checked all contacts and assembly and still always turned on but hung.....eventually it always boots but the touch or digitizer isn't there. There's no touch screen response at all. Once I realized it just stalls, it actually always boots but takes longer and never has any touch screen response but looks normal.
I plugged th old screen on the main board in white and it works and boots fine. I go into CWM recovery and do key tests and all keys work and shows key test results when tapping the touch screen. Turn it off and plug back in new Red display and display looks great but no key test read outs in CWM when tapping the screen. All buttons give same key test readouts as white display.
So basically my new replacement display/digitizer assembly in red to replace my white has no touch ability or response and causes slow boot or boot hang. Other than that both displays look EXACTLY the same and have the same pre-etched factory numbers on back where battery would go "T999/I747"
So is it a display firmware issue you think or possible bad new display assembly I received? Product looked brand new with no scratches and still had factory sticker wrap on it like when I received my phone brand new. Looks great and would be nice if I could get it to work.
If there are no known compatibility issues than I will ask for an exchange from the seller. Looking for recommendations/opinions. I picked it up from this listing here:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/271490581584?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
Sounds like a faulty display causing issues with drivers.

Also, just to clarify. Touch doesn't work in CWM Touch Recovery or give key test readouts for screen on Garnet Red display. Touch works fine and gives readouts on original White in CWM Touch Recovery.
So, once seller receives my messages Monday morning maybe lean on exchange if everyone thinks it should just work? Will wait and see weekend responses and feedback.
Yeah, its should be working without issue. I'm guessing there's a flaw in the digitizer causing interface issues.

Sounds good so far than. Been driving me bonkers since last night. Plus time consuming to fully disassemble the phone and rebuild with breaking losing screws...lol. So ready to have it up and running but just goign to have to wait for an exchanged display than. Was all excited when I powered it on last night only for it to sit there forever before booting and not respond to touch. Smile turned to frown.
Was actually going to get the HTC One M8 but decided last minute to save the money and get more mileage out of this phone. Have really liked it and with CM11 and tweaks more than happy with it for another year or two. Just figured before I'd drop $600+, just fix & clean up my phone for now.
Received replacement display/digitizer today and it worked like a charm. No issues. So first one sent was a lemon, defective. Just wanted to update in case someone else has a similar issue. Thanks for those that gave opinions/help.
Hi everybody
i have an annoying problem with my tablet ( SM - P600 )
in fact , the touchscreen respond very well to the spen , however , it doesn't respond to my fingers
no accidents have been happened fto the tablet
it's not rooted
Can you help me ???
First off the touch screen has nothing to do with the S-pen other then a surface to write on. Did you install any apps prior to this happening.
Sent from my SM-P600 using Tapatalk
I didn't install any new application
while I was playing in the morning , I remarqued that touchscreen do not respond
It's very strange !!!!!
It may be a manufacturer defect. If you have not modified or damaged your device in any way that's the only other explanation. A couple of days after i got my P600 it's WiFi and Bluetooth went bad, although I rooted and flashed it still ended up being a physical defect that I couldn't fix. I had to send it in for repair.

Can the touch screen broke down without accident ?
I think it's another issue ...

It's not common for this to happen. I Have a tf101 that I thought was dead because the screen would not turn on, no damage to it and was working perfectly fine be for it happened. I sent it in to get repaired, come to find out that it was a loose connector. Have you tried the screen with the s-pen out of and far away from the device?

factory reset doesen't solve the problem
Well it seems that it's a hardware issue
...
Do you still have the warranty? If so samsung will fix it for free. If not you can try and pop the back cover off and reseat the ribbon cable. If that doesn't work you may have to replace to digitizer.

Dialer Access on WiFi Only
Go here to gain access to dialer on the P600:

Late to the party - I know but . . . .
Open up the device and locate the ribbon feeder from the digitizer screen - it's about one inch to the left of the camera lens looking from the front with Samsung lettering at top. Lift the catch with spudger or finger nail and relocate the ribbon squarely and as far in as possible. Lock with catch, switch unit on and try with finger - if not successful try and try again as Robert the Bruce was wont to say!
Hi,
My father has a Tab S 10.5 and the inner of the Display is cracked (I can't feel the crack with my fingers). If I plug in the charger it Vibrates and sometimes the Lights of the back and multitask button lights on. I opened the case of the tab but I'm not sure if it is enough to change the display, there is no response on the now cracked display except the things I mentioned above.
What do you guys suggest?
No one ?

If you're not to knowledgeable with how to replace a screen look for a guide on YouTube or take it to a repair center.......
It's not that I don't know how to do it, my question was what else could cause for the tab not to boot except the display

Sounds like it is booting, you just don't have screen to see it. The LCD on the tablet is broken, it will need to be replaced. Think about unplugging the monitor on a desktop PC , it will still boot but it will be really hard to use....
I broke my T700 the same way, the top glass is fine but it won't lite up. I can look at my Google account and see that the tablet is still syncing information even though I can't see it. I did a little research after I got done panicking. I ordered the parts I think that I need BUT- tIs is the season and I have WAY to much to do. I got this T800 for less than the parts for my tablets screen (LCD & digitizer!)
The people here are GREAT assets but they are way past holding hands. Everything I said except the personal stuff was told to you in the last post, you just need to read it. I'm not trying rho be rude but the info IS here. This site seems to be based on those who need and help themselves get the help they need.
Happy Holidays
