I want to ask is how's the official Nexus wireless charger? Does it keep the phone charged up at 100% even after it's fully charged? Is the Play Store the only place to buy the wireless charger? Any negatives about the wireless charger that I should know about?

From what I know, Yes the wireless charger does keep it charged at 100% even after it being fully charged. I've searched other places for this specific charger and couldn't find it elsewhere other than the play store. no negatives about the charger here. Trust me you get what you paid for

It's good imo. Yes it does, none of that discharge, charge again crap. I got my charger from amazon. I wouldn't say it's a huge negative per say, but on mine the glass isn't fully flush (and I mean you would not notice unless you put it to your eye and REALLY look). But still works fine so meh.
I got the official nexus charger and official nexus 5 case from google. Works great. Stays fully charged and its great when going to bed and just setting my phone on the nightstand to charge. Less chance for damaging micro usb also. The wireless charger and unlocked boot loader were what made me make the switch from my s4.

The OP didn't ask about those.
As for the Official Wireless charger. I love it about 10 times more than all of the generics unmoddified. Just love coming home and putting my charger on the pad until it 'locks' in place. It tops off and is nice build quality. Even the ones that are stand base I couldn't get right that easily.
It is awesome.

My only complaint about it is that it can be tough to get the device lined up to charge if you have a case on the phone. Without a case it lines up pretty easily because of the magnets, but with a case on (even a thin TPU case) you have to make sure you're positioning it correctly because the magnets barely grab it.
it even works with my cruzerlite bumper.
this even has the advantage, that the magnetic effect isnt that strong so that it doesnt always almost rip off the charger of my desk
Love mine. I barely use the stock charger anymore. It's so easy to grab the phone on the go especially for a phone call.

Works perfectly for me. I tried a couple of cheap ones before getting the official one
Mine works great. It keeps the 100% charge, no problem. You can get them from Amazon too, that's where I got mine. Mine is also mounted vertically on the side of my nightstand and has stayed in place perfectly now for about a month. Honestly, when I tug at the charger plate, I don't think it'll be easy to remove...

As long as it is designed for the Qi standard it should work. I have a LG WCP-300 and I used it to charge the Nexus 7 I bought for a friend. It worked fine, but since it's so small the tablet was poorly balanced on it. That charger is at some Verizon stores for $40 + tax, and Verizon online for the same price with free shipping. The WCP-300 comes with it's own power supply.
I have seen good reviews for the new Samsung wireless charger, it's $50, but it may still be available for half off. You'll need to get a separate power supply, but I think it probably needs to be 1.8 or 2 amp output. It's also larger, so the tablet won't tend to rock or slip off as easily on the LG charger.
You can see threads on both of those qi chargers over on the Nexus 4 accessories threads.

The Panasonic TM-101 is simply fantastic. Toss your tablet anywhere on the pad - and the pad will find it. Will charge multiple devices - sequentially. Nice to have a tablet that is always charged now.

the nexus orb has been great with the 7. my 4 will slide of frequently but I've had no problems with the 7
I bought the Samsung charger with 50% off coupon and so far, it works with original nexus(2 amp) plug, 2013 Nexus(1.35 amp) plug, iphone 4s/5 plug(don't know what amp).
I like that I can lay the Nexus down cross ways to see the charging indicator led come on, also works with i-blason folio case on the Nexus.
So I lay it down to see the led come on, hear the little tone from Nexus telling me that's it's charging, I close the magnetic cover and turns the screen off. I wake up next morning and it was fully charged from ~20%.
So, I'd say the Samsung charger with 50% off coupon is worth it. I think they are backordered right now though.
Any Qi charger should work. The Samsung 50% off deal is nice bout out of stock.
I JUST FOUND THIS, AT&T has the Nokia DT-900 at half off currently. That's $24.50 plus tax.

I have read that the Panasonic TM-101 will stop charging once you device reaches 100% then not touch it again to keep up the charge as the phones drains in sleep mode. Something that most other chargers do. That would just bug me.
Even though it cool, I'll be satisfied with the Nokia DT-900 I paid $25 for, and eill keep my device topped off.
Looks like you already made your choice, but I was going to put in another vote for the Panasonic TM101.
I also have a Nokia DT-900, which looks nice and is compact. The only problem is that the Nexus 7 is large compared to the charging plate, and it'll take a bit of practice to perfectly center your tablet onto the charging plate when you can't really see the charging plate under the tablet.
The Panasonic one, as you've probably read by now, automagically positions the charging coil via motors to line it up with your device. The coils light up when they move, so you can visibly see the charging coils as they center behind your Nexus 7. You can hear the motors working, but it's only about as loud as a quiet inkjet printer, so it doesn't really bug me at all.
As far as cases are concerned, you should be fine as long as the case isn't made of metal, and as long as the case isn't too thick. After experimenting a bit with placing a magazine between my N7 and the charging plate, you can get away with about 1/4" of space and still be able to charge.
Also, if you put two devices on the Panasonic, it will charge one and then move over and charge the second. I also read - somewhere - that when one of them drops down to 90%, it will charge again. Unproven by me, since my tablet is always fully charged when I pick it up. Loving it - neatest gadget I have bought in a long time.

I'm not sure what your talking about. I just roughly center my N7 on the Nokia DT-900 and it charges. I'd have to be grossly off for it not to charge. As long as I'm placing my N7 on the charger and not tossing from 2 feek away it works flawlessly. Something must be wrong with either your N7 or your charger.

If that's true, that sounds great. But read or saw a video review that said the opposite. I don't own the Panasonic TM-101, so I don't know which is correct. Maybe someone who has first hand knowledge can chime in.

I'm looking to buy the DT-910 as it props the device upright so I can use the nexus as bedroom clock. The other wireless charging thread has a couple of users that say it works well. There is also a link to cheap dt-900 (similar to what you linked) by you need to buy 3 to get it cheap and it's in the US. I'm UK based so no use to me.

just a question: the 900/910 stops charging when reach 100%?
I bought this Kookpad wireless charger off Amazon and had it waiting when my phone arrived on Monday. You can get it in white or black. It is very placement insensitive. I ordered a 2nd one last night so I could have one at the office.

Read through the Amazon reviews. Some people didn't like the buzzer on it, but most people found it charged well.

When I got my N5, I used a HP Touchpad AC charger (up to 2.0 Amp output), this USB current measuring device http://dx.com/p/usb-av-usb-power-current-voltage-tester-translucent-blue-silver-235090, and then measured the input current to my Note 2, Nexus 5, and then Koolpad (linked on my previous post) with my Nexus 5 charging on it. The battery was about 55% charged so we were definitely in the constant current section of the battery charge (maximum current). The results were.
Note 2 Input current = 1.28A
Nexus 5 Input current = 1.08A
Koolpad (charging Nexus 5) Input current = 1.09A
The tranfser of power between the Qi charger and N5 isn't 100% efficient so the current into the N5 is something less than 1.09A. Guessing efficiency is 70-90% so that would mean 700mA to 900mA (0.7A - 0.9A) into the N5. I have only had the phone since Monday, but the charging time seems to be very similar between using a cord and the Koolpad Qi charger.
That is the only Qi charger I have tested so far. I don't know how others compare. While researching Qi chargers, I had read some people post that the Nokia DT-900 charged on the slower side..... no data to back that up.
Do these alle work fine with cases?

I've order the nokia dt-900, when will arrive i will make test of time charge, temperature.
Anyway the wirless charger is not 100% efficient...if you search for a faster charge, use a 2,3a USB charger. (Remind the lion battery, for safe and longevity, have to be charge at Max the mah of the battery it self. So a 1000mah battery, Max 1a charger)
I got the Zens wireless charger from Shop Android. When it came I fell in love with the design and ordered 2 more for a total of 3 to have around the house. BIggest mistake ever. I also have the old Zens charger and the samsung S4 charger and the new zens is the only one that gets super hot. Don't know why but when I take the phone off its on fire. Sucks too because now I have 3 of these.

There's definitely some quality control issues with the Nokia chargers, but I can't imagine them saying you'd have to buy another. Their service is outstanding (experienced with multiple defective 920s) and I can't imagine they'd just go tell you to kick rocks.

Well, it was the equivalent. I had to pay $15 to ship it there (I had to use UPS, I couldn't just use a $5 flat rate box). then $10 for them to look at it, then free shipping on the way back. That's $25. I can buy another charger for that money.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I didn't actually "buy" the charger. It just came with my 920 from att. That was their reasoning behind me paying shipping charges.
Just thought I would mention that the Panasonic QE-TM101-K Black Qi Wireless Charger Pad does not work with the Nexus 5. Originally got it for the Nexus 4 back in March, hoped it would work with the N5.

Bought this when it was on sale for like $14.99 by the same primo-superstore guys. Great qi charger. It does BEEP when you first put the phone on but doesn't keep BEEPING once the phone is fully charged like some others.
Very low noise beep tho', so not really a big deal. There's also a tiny LED light on the front of the charger for indication. It did not come with an AC adapter so you'll have to supply one. But it did came with a long and a short micro USB cable. I suppose one is for connecting to a wall charger and the other one for your computer. It does charge just phone if you hook it up to the computer USB port, although much slower.
Best $15 buck I spent all year.

Does it keep the Nexus 5 at 100% when you charge it overnight or does it completely stop charging once it reaches 100%. Does the phone/battery get hot when using this charger?
Ya it works with my digitronic case no problem and the beep actually really helps letting you know its charging. Yes it remains at 100% and does not beep all night like other ones it has been working great so far. I read a lot of people having trouble with these types of chargers they would charge then it gos to 99% then back to full and beeps on a cycle all night long but I have not experienced that with this charger. I don't know if this one on amazon is different then other ones sold on eBay they all look the same but so far the one from amazon is good. I'm almost thinking about returning the nexus charger to Google because I don't use it anymore.

I bought one too and I like it a lot. I can charge my nexus 5 (via Qi), Nexus 7 FHD (USB, 2.1A) and Dell Venue 8 pro (usb, 1A) simultaneously while charging the internal battery.
Just ordered one. It says 17-28 days, which is a while, but I'm not in a hurry
Does it have the magnets though that the nexus charger has? That's really why I wanted to buy the nexus one.
I got this last week. I used velcro to stick it to my car mount. I had to remove the rubber rings from the top and bottom to make this work.
It does not have magnets. The magnets in the official charger set it apart from most other Qi chargers.
It works well with my Dizitronic TPU case
FYI - Here's the Fasttech model. I can confirm that this works with both the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5. Fast charging, and no beeping all night. For those people having trouble with beeping, try being more precise with placement... I find on the Nexus 4, that if I put the charger dead center on the body of the phone, it will beep continuously. If I offset the charger about 1/2" towards the micro-USB port on the phone, the beeping stops and it charges perfectly. The Nexus 5 seems less picky about placement, the sweet spot seems to be quite large in comparison.
Anyway, here it is: http://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10006012/1462103-t200-qi-wireless-charging-plate
I bought two, and really need to buy about five more. They're awesome.
Oh, and to answer someone else's question, no magnets for the N5... but flat on a desk and with the large sweet spot, it doesn't seem to matter.
I have this one too. It's worked well for me as a magnetic car dock (had to add the magnets). I hated the Beep sound whenever it became misaligned so I popped it open and found the speaker.
It's the tall black thing in the middle-left of the attached image. If you pop off the top plastic lid of that little black thing you can remove the little metal circle that sits inside it and it stops the beeping. If that's an issue for anyone else...
Hi. I bought the same and works well. I think the bip sound is a good thing because sometimes the position from the phone is incorrect. In this case no bip

There's already several tutorials on how to do it. But I bought these from Amazon and they work great. Hey I have the same charger. Can you try this for me.
Get a battery lower than 90%. Turn on Maps and set it to navigate somewhere. Put brightness at half and play music (at any volume). Can you watch your temperatures and see if you end up pushing 45C which implies "overheat" and therefore you won't charge?
Grabbed a generic one from eBay for 12 bucks been using for a month now its real big and does an excellent job.

I don't see why would you be using your phone while wireless charging. using your phone while charging kills the battery R.I.P my AT&T HTC One X, but ill try it once it arrives.
This is the one I'm currently using. Just a generic Qi charger off ebay. Has the same 5V 1A output as pretty much all other Qi chargers.
Works pretty good, no complaints.
I also just saw that it's even cheaper now than when I ordered it before. just ordered 2 more.
It's currently $11.42 with free shipping. (Choose Black Charging Pad or White Charging Pad from the drop down list).

I also just ordered this one for my desk.
Pretty cheap as well. $14.83 with free shipping.

The Nokia one was through AT&T. The bad thing is uses a barrel plug for power, which makes it a bad choice for travel. It is also bowled out, so the phones don't sit flat, which is kind of stupid.
Most will all work the same. The only difference between the cheaper models compared to the more expensive ones are the features. More expensive ones typically have multiple coils inside to allow multiple positions and ease of use. Cheaper ones typically only have 1 which means you have to sit it in the "sweet spot" vs just plopping your device down.
Some Qi chargers also have different methods for keeping the charge topped off. Some just reach 100% and turn off, so your phone starts consuming batter at 4am = 75% remaining when you wake up. Others will stop, start, stop, start, stop, start... which is ok... unless it has lights and beeps every time it starts/stops. Some describe it as a beeping musical/lightshow at 5am. Most should reach 100% and begin to trickle charge to keep it up.
So know what you're buying and make sure if you buy a cheap model/off brand, you can repurpose it or return/exchange if it doesn't work to your expectations. I've moved my cheaper ones into my home/work offices and I have a good Samsung model by my bedside.

Yeah, no worries on the flat charger I have. It only makes 1 initial beep when connected and that's it. Actually, I'm not sure if it's the charger or the phone that makes the beep haha. When it reaches 100% there's no extra sounds. It also keeps the phone topped off. So when I wake up in the morning it's fully charged, and cool to the touch.
here is what I got off of DX.com and it works perfectly

It's not even worth it at $12. Even being from Nokia, it only has a 750mA output current, so the charge time is going to be super slow. The one the OP posted has 1A output. The generic ones I posted are much cheaper and have 1A output.
I just received it today and it works like it should and it seems like charging is faster with the wireless chargers and the USB with the AC adapter

Awesome. Looks pretty cool. Have you tried this with any cases on? Like a thin tpu/hybrid case? Thanks

Figured I'd give that one a shot myself after seeing your post. Can't go wrong with a basic model that does the job well eh, especially at that price.

Yes it will charge faster from an AC adapter (if the amps are enough to fully power the charger) compared to USB into a computer. If you use a PC/Mac USB port there generally is not enough current to allow the charger to operate at full speed. If you have a charger that is 5V/1.5A Input make sure you have a USB adapter that provides at least the same output. If you have an adapter that provides higher (ex: 5V/2A) that is fine as too as the charger will only draw what it needs.

Exactly! It's functional and gets the job done nicely. And under $12, you can't go wrong.
