Im about to buy a Note ll from someone that brought it from Germany, I'm not sure it's SIM FREE, my question is if it's possible to unlock the sim lock networks and make it sim free to from also at Israel. Is there any tutorial in XDA that show those things or it's illegal?
Sorry if it's a stupid question i just have no idea in those issues :/

why can't you ask the person you're buying from if phone is carrier locked or not? and i don't think on xda you can find a thread about how to carrier unlock your phone for that there are many websites that would provide you with unlock codes for a fee.Google it,also if it's sim locked you would need to go which carrier was it locked to,i don't know if in germany carrier logo are there on smartphones.
Yes it's possible... you have to see if this works for you though: http://galaxynote2root.com/galaxy-note-2-tutorials/how-to-unlock-sim-for-free-on-gsm-galaxy-note-2/
**and read the responses by other users to see more info on any problems/solutions.
Good luck!

Hi guys,
a friend of mine had bought a HTC in USA last month (he live in Italy) and he would know what he has to do to use the phone here.
I don't know if this mobile phone is "under contract", he told me not but i'm not sure of it.
So i would know what i have to do with this mobile phone.
I don't know the model of the phone, i know it's not a smartphone and it has got a QWERTY keyboard..
Thank to everyone who could help me..
if the phone is sim unlocked, then you just have to change the sim and you're good to go
if it is sim locked, then you can either a) contact the original provider and get an unlock code, or b) go to the specific forum for the device and use the unlocker made for it

He Said it's not a smart phone. I doubt there is an unlocker for that here. Somewhere maybe, but probably not XDA.
Hi! I just got my GN and after I boot it asks to enter the SIM Network unlock PIN. This means that its network locked right ? In the box there where nothing related to any carrier so is there a way to find a way to which carrier it is locked to ? And how can I unlock it?
Thanks (Im running AOKP)

I got an app from market recently to unlock my SGS2, maybe try searching the market? That's a bit vague but the app I used on my SGS2 was perfect, generated a code for me and then unlocked the sime when I typed the code in.
Im trying the GSII Sim Unlock app though I doubt it will work.... I was thinking about purchasing an unlock code however I have no idea to what carrier it is locked to. Is there any way I can know this?
Yeah

That's what I used. I don't think the carrier matters, it's all about the phones IMEI number, the app checks that and then issues an unlock code based on that. You don't need to worry about carrier.
Let me know if that app works on the Nexus. By the way, in Ireland you can ring your carrier and request an unlock code. I don't know if that is the same where you are. You could chance your arm and see.
is your nexus cdma or gsm? A gsm nexus wont ask to unlock the sim since they are factory sim unlocked..

Mine asks for an unlock code if I don't use the sim that came with the phone or a sim that is from another carrier.
Do you have a source for where you read that they are sim unlocked ??? Would be interested in reading it.
this reads more like it's a Sim-pin... a pin number associated with the sim card you are using, NOT a pin associated with the phone.

NO! The code is related to the IMEI number of the phone. When I unlocked my SGS2 using that app, it specifically searched for my IMEI number and then generated the unlock code. Nothing to do with the sim.
Its a GSM phone and Im assuming that it is unlocked as it had no logos on the box so I have no idea what carrier it is locked to. Also, ever site that sells unlock codes request the carrier so what can I do ?
Tha SGSII app did not work

Nasty! Can you contact the guys who offer the paid unlock codes and ask them a way around that?
Well, I would contact the seller of the phone, there isn't a locked version of the GSM Galaxy Nexus available, afaik.

Well, you didn't buy a carrier branded one, did you?
I spoke too soon, it looks like Vodafone Portugal sells it Sim-locked, everywhere else it's unlocked. If you bought it unsubsidized, it should be unlocked. Unless you got scammed, and bought it second hand from someone that somehow had bought a locked one.
Where exactly did you purchase the phone?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galaxy_nexus#Availability
Bought it off eBay from an Australian seller.... in fastboot mode Carrier Info is set to None.... does this mean that it is unlocked ???
Got reply from seller and apparently there was a code on the box that I had to enter.... my fault :/ Know its working perfectly
Thanks for the help anyways guys

Thanks for the info! I get all my phones for free off a guy who works in a company here so mine was not branded at all but I was sure I had an issue when I put in an 02 sim recently, could have been my SGS2 but will check it out again and see. Thanks for the link.

Nice work.
Could anyone explain how it is done?
I found my xperia ion on e-bay and it is locked.
1.st question: Can be unlocked with code and use it in Europe gsm network?
2nd. question: If i unlock bootloader, and root, and instal some international custom rom will i unlock network?
1. Yes but good luck getting a code right now as AT&T isn't giving them out.
2. Unlocking bootloader doesn't unlock network (at least not officially) and flashing an international rom has no effect on similar lock status or not.
You'd have to try some of the unlocking services around. There is a thread about unlocking already on the ion forums here at xda. Look at that thread for info.

I bought an used AT&T Ion in Canada from Kijiji and I'm stuck with it. The guy who sold me the phone knew it cannot be unlock but too bad I didn't do a research before I paid him my hard earned money. And I dont want to sell and scam people around saying this can be unlocked. Hopefully it will be possible in the future and then I will either sell it or give it to my budy.

ATT isnt giving out codes yet but has anyone had luck sim unlocking a Rogers canadian ION on these forums?
If so i would like to know where they got the codes, a lot of shady sites saying they have them but dont want to give out the cash to just anyone.
Hello and good evening.
Sorry if maybe I'm wrong section, and a question already made, but they are new and do not understand much.
That said I am reporting to you my question and I hope in your help.
I was given a Xperia S (used) by a relative whose Australian and stuck under the 3 network in Australia and does not read sim Italian.
I live in Italy so I can not use this phone with other sim outside of australia.
I was wondering if it is possible to unlock this phone so that it can read sim ITA.
I read on the net that you can do so by purchasing a code to unlock it, but I do not trust and I would not even spend money to unlock it.
Or, do you recommend an economic and confidence?
Thanks and best regards.
P.S. Sorry for my English ^ ^ "
No help?
If you want it unlocked you have to pay for it. Sorry. Check ebay, usually pretty cheap

Hi all,
first of all i'm sorry for my bad english..
I'm here to ask how i can modify an "Xperia S" that is "sim locked"; i'm desperate because this phone is no brand, bought in italy, but now that it is in UK it doesn't work with UK's sim cards.
How can i unlock it?

Buy a unlock code for your phone and place a unknown sim and it will ask for the unlock code
And call to your operator. That's why you pay them for.

you should call your network operator and ask them for the unlock code.
But they might not give it to you as it was bought in a different country, I'm not sure. They didn't give one to me since my xperia S was from a third-party company :crying:

You dont need to be rooted to sim unlock a phone, insert unknown sim and it will ask for code
