I've noticed that my phone has an available software update in the "about device" section in settings. After hitting the "check for updates" I get an error message saying "it can't currently connect to the servers".
I've tried this on WiFi and on my LTE connection and both don't work. What should I do? Does anyone else have this problem? How do I update this phone?!?!
I don't see anywhere that it says there is an update but I have been getting that server error it seems like forever now.

connect you phone to kies, it will say update is available, let it update. This is will fix your update problem.
But update will remove your universal search
Thanks Sam, I guess there is no need for me to update then. At least I know what to do when there is a good update in the future!

if you root, then you can put old search.apk to get universal search back.
Hi there, I recently bought the Nexus 7 2013 LTE version (4G, 32GB, etc). I'm not that familiar with the device and not sure how to update it to Android KitKat 4.2.2 version. I do receive the following message (screenshot also attached) when I went to the 'System updates' option (Settings > About tablet > System updates). Device is currently running Android 4.3 with the build number JSS15J.
Message:
Android 4.2.2 System Update
Waiting to download 257.3 MB Via Wi-Fi only until Dec 31
This software update will upgrade your Nexus 7 to 4.4.2, which improve performance....
------
Even though the message says its waiting to download it doesn't download anything via Wi-Fi, and since this ends on 31-December I do not want to loose the update either. Can someone please help me to get the new update?
I have not rooted my tab, would like update the tab using the original Google system update.
Appreciate your comments and help on this as the update is almost ending soon.

Stupid question.... are you sure you connecting to a good wifi network? For one thing there is no wifi icon in the status bar of your screenshot and your LTE looks very weak. Once you get the wifi connected it might take a minute to actually connect to the google servers. You can see that in the quick settings, the wifi icon will change from orange (whatever color that is) to white. You also might try leaving your wifi on and rebooting.
Hi,
After performing OTA update to Android 9 Pie WiFi started to experience serios problems.
It connects to Wi-Fi routers like before, but keep constantly loosing connection. The indication in the status bar is like normal. However all apps requiring internet stop working.
In Twitter app, you can browse the tweets but when you want to update the screen you have 'Unable to get tweets at this time'
In Gmail app, you can browse emails in a folder but when you switch to other folder you will have 'Connection error, retry'
In eBay app, you may go into Bids area of the app and see your bids, but when you switch to a lot the app locks.
WiFi calling is not working.
This problem was reported many times this summer, when Pie was available for beta download (Reddit and Google dev forums have a long list of reports). It was suggested that:
-disable\enable WiFi trick can work this out. (It cannot with XZ2c)
-disable IPv6 in router as the Pie tries to establish IPv6 connection (It is not a solution when you are not an admin of a router, but I checked on 3 networks and diffrent models by disabling IPv6- no use).
-disable WiFi discovery in WiFi settings (it does not work).
-reset network setting (I did lost all my saved networks, but it did not help).
I contacted Sony Support and the only suggestions is that OTA update did not go well, so they want me to make update again via Xperia Companion. Meaning hours of backup and loosing information and settings of dozens of apps.
According to the reports (you can google "WiFi issues after Android Pie update") making factory reset is not a solution. I will try to restore the updated Android 9 via Xperia Companion.
But this is the serious issue equal to bricking a phone that quite new yet. (((((((
seems I am experiencing this as well sometimes after PIE update... sh!t..
I made clean install via Xperia Companion and it did not help. Sony wants me to bring it to the service.
Is there a way to roll back to Android 8.1?

Yes, install flashtool and download a firmware that is still on Oreo (check version number). I used the SG one (4G icon and NFC persistent icon). After flashing it, you most likely end up in a bootloop. Fix this with Experia Companion. Don't wait to long though; once Pie is available for all regions, you can't use Companion to fix the bootloop AND stay on Oreo. You will be stuck with Pie. Good luck!

Sound near impossible. When can I get the latest Oreo for ZX2c? Can you guide me to flashtool thread, so that I could read how to do it?
It's not too difficult. All you need to know is at flashtool.net
Installed previous firmware, all problems gone!! Even the speed is faster than on Android Pie
Now I need to find out how to hide Sony's 'New software available' from the notifications.

and you had to factory reset to revert succesfully to Oreo I think? can you list the steps you followed? I may be interested in reverting to oreo as well until pie will be more stable...tia!

1) I donwloaded and installed flashtool
2) I dowloaded and installed the driver https://developer.sony.com/file/download/xperia-xz2-driver/
3) I find the previous firmware for my region, the latest is 51.1.A.11.51 . It is one big 2.2 Gb *.ftf file, I put it into C:\Users\**yourname*\.flashTool\firmwares on my Win7 pc
4) Run the flashtool and pressed the flash button
5) when prompted I switched off the phone, pressed volume down button and then inserted the USB into phone and pc
6) Waited 7-8 minutes untill the flashing is finished.
Disconnected the phone, pressed power and in 10 minutes I have this cool device up and running like it should!

thanks I already downloaded the .11.51 firmware also, but I don't have the ftf, I have all files extracted... probably because I selected to unpack it automatically.. but I thought I still could find the ftf somewhere... will download it again without the unpacking this time and see.
this way it cleared all your data right? and wiped internal sd also maybe? or all your data was still there after the downgrade?

thanks for the info, fastory reset is not a big problem for me, I think I am downgrading also soon! don't like pies... redownloading ftf now and flashtool (which is taking ages to complete download... so slow!)
edit: even without unpacking I don't have the ftf but three separated files, will google to see how to create the ftf from the firmware files!
nvm
downgrade successful, great to see Oreo running again! quick settings icons in pie are just horrible..
no update notification here yet, but probably just because the ftf i chose (customized ce1) has no pie update available yet...!

I'm using adguard to block ads in browser.. maybe if we disable the Sony sw update app via adb will do the trick? i did this to disable some system apps that were not possible to disable from settings (SwiftKey keyboard etc)
i don't mind about future updates so will try tomorrow if i have time and see what happens!
disabled all update relevant apps from the phone via adb shell.. I hope this will prevent the ota update to show up, will see when the PIE update for CE1 will be released! :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

you must install minimal adb for windows and send the adb command, I did it on win10 and it worked fine. also disabled headsup notifications this way, hate them!
when you have minimal adb installed, connect the phone via usb (when it is on and debug mode enabled in advanced settings) open a command prompt from the folder where you have adb.exe and run:
adb devices
... to check if your phone is seen. if so, run the following commands to disable sony update apps:
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.sonyericsson.updatecenter
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.sonymobile.mtp.extension.fotaupdate
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.sonyericsson.mtp.extension.update
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.sonymobile.updatecenter.config.latecmz
pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.sonymobile.updatecenter.config.autoinstall
doing like this now when I go to settings > sw update I have now the stock android update app opening, not the sony app anymore, so hope the sony updates won't be seen anymore!
if you have already the notification always shown you can try the above and see if after rebooting the phone, it disappears or not..
let me know!

Hello. Im here after wasting above month on official MIUI and Google forums. Xiaomi never answered, and Google is telling me "this is not proper thread" everywhere, and it looks like they have no support for my phone.
So problem is, after upgrading to Android Pie, my wifi stopped working for Youtube, Gmail and System Updates. Those 3 Necessary apps for me need to, MUST work on wi-fi.
What i have done so far:
- Changed router
- Wiped phone (at least 9 times)
- Flashed Official rom from MIUI page..... (few times)
None of them worked plus i got another problem. After flashing Android 8.1 from miui, my sim slots have swapped in system - now sim 1 is sim 2, and sim 2 is sim 1. I knoew it may happen, but even on 8.1 wifi have not fixed itself, so i doubt its something with device, but with some drivers.
I also downloaded ROM from MIUI in Pie version (released week ago or so) and it also not working, same issue. I even had downloaded some update on first pie version. Now its very strange - when i had first Pie (before flashing 8.1) i have downloaded update - to seek for updates i need to use mobile data - thanks for my location only 2G is working, so its slow as hell, when update was found - i downloaded it with wi-fi.
With Youtube its also strange - i can make it working by turning ON wi-fi, launching app, turning wi-fi OFF, and ON and voila. Sometimes it works. I started also using "Secure VPN" app to make Youtube loading - it works, but not in way i wanted to - i need YT working for chromecast - with VPN i cannot connect to chromecast.
Finally Gmail - it sometimes - very rare working on wi-fi, but very soon after i think it fixed itself it again stop to working.
For flashing i tried used mi flash tool, and script commands included in image folder
You can probably try that : https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78496783&postcount=40
Edit : this kind of stuff is a bit sensitive, keep in mind you can brick your phone, I don't know if it works I haven't tried myself, this is just a suggestion that looks similar to your problem (Sim swap, and it makes sense to me that the modem.img is also managing the wifi board (but really not sure about that).
BTW, I would do that with the Oreo ROM since I think the message is about Oreo. Then you can upgrade to pie again and see if you still have problems.
In my case, enforcing ipv4 in the router / access point settings has repaired WiFi.
I had issue with twitter, twitch, sometimes YouTube. I Could not access some websites.
I have no ipv6, i have tested this on 2 routers, now i'm checking 9.6.4.0 rom as i heard it have proper modem.img.
#kidoucorp - i'll try this also. I have tried updating to pie 3 times - i havent writed about this
So currently i'm out of options. Tried solution from your link, but it doesnt work
Wifi have worked like a charm after flashing 9.6.4.0 but my sim card wasnt working, system was saying its sim 2, so i wiped it for sure, now wifi is not working again, even after second flash with solution from the link. I wasnt able to login into google accounts, so i tried these steps from google help :
"

And now i have signed into google, but google play store is plain white page. It wont download any updates as wifi is not working, and on LTE/3G/2G i cannot seek for any updates (default play store setting to download only on wifi). Android one is trap, never gonna buy device with this. Looks like i'm gonna try to sell this phone, but i dont know whos gonna buy it.
Any more ideas?
So i make it workable, but i cant login into damm google serwers. I hate everything that startd with G and have 2 oo inside.
What i have done :
- Downloaded 9.6.4.0 Fastbot image from here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/how-to/ota-v9-6-4-0-odlmiff-t3823913
- unlocked bootloader again
- Flashed image without any changes via miflash
- On first config i choosed to not connect with mobile data or wifi, just skipped it.
- I configured phone once i saw desktop;
- turned off localisation, BT, switched to 2G, configured APN's,
- Configured gBoard, disabled Find my device, disabled FMD from administrators of device, disabled smartlock, and configured google settings so it cannot collect so much my data
- configured sounds, AND WIFI.
- Once i had wifi connected i went straight into SYSTEM UPDATES.
- I saw IT IS DOWNLOADING UPDATE FROM NOVEMBER without any notification. Pissed off about it, i went to developer settings and turned off auto updates.
- Went back to System updates and it was freezed on searching bar and nothing more, so i enabled autoupdates back, i get error it could not update, and in second try it updated.
- YT is working but i cant sign in to google serwers, "try again later".
So now i think i get what is hapening here. Android Pie, Google new owner, everyone have problems "with wifi" - that all BS.
Nobody have problems with Wi-Fi - wi fi is working well, in chrome, or any web browser its working, so DEVICES ARE FINE. Its Google serwers, google apps (using THEIR SERWERS) not working. So i guess new owner have no control ower everything and serwers have half of its speed, so lot of users sometimes have working gapps, sometimes not. If it could be only apps i at least could login into damm google account. What is not fitting into my idea is why PC versions are working OK - mobile devices are using different serwers?
PS : If anyone have Pie and having issues with wifi - try to logut from google account. All should start to works.
PS 2 : i logged into google store via secure VPN - again wifi is not working without VPN.
Phone is useless. LTE and 3G are working 1/5 its speed, its better to use 2G, Wi-Fi is not working on Google Apps. System updates are not working (infinite searching). Only thing that works are browser, messenger, SMS, calls, Deezer.
I dont get how people can not have this issue at all, what its dependent? I tried creating new google account - phone will not login into it. "Problems connecting to google serwers, try again later". Its most sh***y ROM ever created. Never had so much troubles on any custom rom on any phone. Thank you Google, f u G.

Did you update the apps not working to the newest version? Otherwise if you have an unlocked bootloader (which i guess if u used the fastboot flash scripts) you could try to flash opengapps with twrp. Or you could get a logcat on a fresh installation and see if there is really everything ok with the rom.
have you tried joneplustool, you need root, but i did was toggle wifi bonding and my wifi started working fine, only had to do it once, but i suggest to flash magisk and use qualcom wifi bonding module.

All apps are updated, Google Plays Store is normally working, device is certified and udpates are normally working (for apps). Only problem was loggin into google account but after 7th or 8th try it worked. I dont have custom TWRP and have locked bootloader (scripts are doing it manually after finishing the flash). I dont try with TWRP and custom ROM's as i'm not familiar with it on this device (I have installed multiple mods - roms, recovery's. modems, etc on Redmi Note 4, but it was much easier). I'm also not familiar with logcat and its script language.

Well, at my work WIFI is working fine (for while), i have straight connection in work. In home, "friend" is sending me a signal (but its very hard to ask him for help) and i'm receiving it via wi-fi in my home. What he told me, i dont have ipv6 (he's not also). I tried 2 routers in my home - 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz - both same issue. In work i have 5Ghz, but 5 is not fitting to my home - i got low signal in the bottom of the house while router is on upper floor, lot of metal tubing, etc. its old building style home and it have some cons and props.
Well, friend have changed something about DNS, system updater, youtube started working, he said there was some problems with 8.8.8.8 on my phone. after 15 minutes system updater again searching for updates infinite time, in 2G it works flash fast. Youtube still works, but who know how long... Any ideas?
BTW xda page also wont load on wifi....
Been asking T-Mobile and OnePlus on how to block this update as it breaks creation of a work profile and I can no longer us my phone for work. I've downgraded to A11 using MSM but then as soon as I connect to WiFi, the device starts downloading the A12 update. Pausing it says it will update after midnight.
I've forbidden data usage to Android Setup (there is no system update app that I've been able to find in any of the apps even after "show system" is checked) and disabled those apps. I've disabled "allow automatic updates when rebooting". Going into System update there is no gear to stop the update. I've turned data off to anything I can find, i've also done this in safe mode. I can't not be able to use this phone for work and it's basically brand new.
If it's rooted it won't work for Work Profile either. Microsoft documentation states that OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, and Nokia phones do not work with Android 12 and work profiles and that they should not be upgraded yet, so I assume there's a way to stop this upgrade.
Anyone have any luck?
Install NetGuard, go to settings > advanced options > enable system apps.
In NetGuard, search for updater and turn off network for it, then turn NetGuard on and leave the VPN on while you use the phone.
Thanks! When I searched for updater on my phone, under system apps, only Mobile Installer and ConfigUpdater showed up. Searching for update, it's built-in app updates and Dynamic System Updates, both of which I believe are not the right ones to block. I did try blocking all four and the update still applied (I set my time to midnight and left it plugged in)
Any suggestions? I feel like T-Mobile makes this too difficult
For what its worth, I used an app called Island to create a work profile on my device while it still had A11. My phone upgraded to A12 and the work profile and all of its associated apps were still there. I haven't noticed any problems with the apps or accounts on that work profile, either (although A12 is a dumpster fire).
My phone is currently a bone stock LE2127 from T-Mobile.

You could use shelter on android 12, it works fine. If you still need to block updates, use PCAPdroid, turn on its VPN, then attempt an update. You should get the update server and you could block it via DNS.
Ok, so I've tried a couple of the above. unfortunately I need to run company portal for it to create the work profile so when I went to use shelter it didn't take as running Company Portal immediately killed it. We use Intune and compliance and all that fun stuff.
I also went and checked PCAPdroid, and I couldn't tell where the update server was, so I went and I blocked network traffic from everything with NetGuard, and slowly removed things to see what app was doing the downloading. The only thing that stopped the update from downloading was blocking Google Play Services.
I have a couple PCAP files but I'm not sure if they are even capturing the download of the update file.

I suppose I could live life for a few months turning on and off google play services connectivity when I need to install stuff. I just can't believe that T-Mobile knowingly forces this on you.
I don't remember where I found it, I think it may have been some random 8 Pro subforum.
They said to use this command.
I'm crossing my fingers.
Code:
adb shell pm disable-user com.oneplus.opbackup
Unfortunately tried that as well, doesn't exist on the OP9 Pro T-Mo edition. It's almost as if they castrated this version lol.
I appreciate the help though!

I suppose I could live life for a few months turning on and off google play services connectivity when I need to install stuff. I just can't believe that T-Mobile knowingly forces this on you.

Hi,
It seems like gateway.oneplus.net is the update server, you can try to block that only.

I'm cautiously optimistic right now. Blocked that through no root firewall, tried to download the update and it wouldn't go through. Currently have the phone set to 12 am and sitting on it's own to see if it'll actually auto update over the day. If it doesn't, woo hoo! Thank you so much! If it does, sad face.
You're welcome!
If it doesn't work, let me know and I'll be more than happy to assist you.
Argh! I was wrong, I accidentally had everything blocked and not just gateway.oneplus.net. PCAPDroid isn't picking up any different dns servers or IP addresses when I run it other than what I've posted. I ended up finding a way to block the download when the screen is off (apparently app "Root" in NetGuard stops it from downloading) and I think I should be ok until T-Mo releases a better update with OnePlus that works.
Thanks for the help, hopefully it doesn't and up somehow finding it's away around my network block!

Is this working for you? Do you still get the notifications about an update being available?
The fix I posted above has worked to prevent notifications & updates on global but I want to go back to T-mobile ROM now due to some odd network behavior.
Oh geez, I just MSM'd back to TMO and I see that TMO is now forcing the first update to be to 12 instead of a newer version of 11.
Global will let you step up to the most recent version of 11 before forcing you to 12.
But TMO just skips right to 12 without giving you a newer 11 first.
Anyone know how to install the most updated version of TMO 11?

In order to get the latest OOS 11 version, first you need to MSM. Then, you need to update, make sure it's around ~460 MB or so, it will look like it's an update to OOS 12 but it's not. Then you should end up on 11.2.9.9 and then you need to block the update that's around 4000 MB and you should be good to go.

I MSM'd and the current version was 11.2.6.6.le5acb.
Then, I went to the update tab and it says the update available is for le2127_11_c-16, which is the 12 version.
I don't remember the size on it though and I've already moved on to a custom ROM to test something.
Are you saying this was telling me it would be 12 but would have actually done an 11 update?
Yes, at least in my experience.
I was skeptical at first but then thought to myself there was no way an Android 12 upgrade was ~400 MB. Also, given the fact that I tested on global and it forced an upgrade to the latest Android 11 version BEFORE doing an Android 12 upgrade, I figured it wouldn't really have upgraded to Android 12.

That file doesn't exist on T-Mobile from what I've seen. I am just living with the pop up every once in a while.
I found a downgrade thread for T-Mobile to Android 11. I used it and it worked for me. it also fixed my serial number that was missing the leading 0. search for the OnePlus 9 Pro downgrade using the MSM Tool!

Yeah that's what I used but then it kept upgrading on its own. Had to do it a couple times then block network connectivity to specific addresses.
