Battery user replaceable? - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

So hi guys,
I'm loving this tablet alot and I'm using it all the time for all my computing. Now what if in a year or two the battery life decreases but the note itself is still fine? Is there a way to replace the battery in a relatively simple fashion?

Yes but it does involve pulling your tablet apart... And being able to get the right battery...

Yeah that's what i thought. Do you know if there is an aftermarket for parts like that?
Also, has anyone already taken a note 2014 apart and checked if you need to solder or glue stuff when replacing the battery?

Look in the general section. Someone posted pics of it all taken apart. The thead is called sleep of death. The battery is just a plug away

I haven't seen any aftermarket batteries yet. Your local Samsung service agent will definitely be able to do it but they charge excessively.
Other option would be to keep an eye on this website or email them.

They have batteries for the other Note series tablets. Ours may just be too new for them to bother with yet. I'd be surprised if anyone needed a new battery this early in the release cycle.

Question about sph-d710 and the I9100

My girlfriends phone has been acting strange. Showing that it is charging when nothing is plugged in, beeping consistently, and instead of shutting down it reboots. We took it in to Sprint and they said it has minor water damage in the bottom half. No insurance so nothing they could do.
It seems like an easy fix if I can find the part. It would be the USB Flex Cable I believe and its only $10ish dollars on ebay.
The problem I'm having is that I cant find the USB Flex Cable for the sph-d710 just ones for the Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100.
I emailed the seller of
cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=321003355943&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123
this listing and he said "this should fit". I just want to be sure it is the same cable before I order it.
I cant find any tutorial so I'm just going to follow along with this
youtube.com/watch?v=aChzv3IzxsU
Video.
Any advice or tips on replacing the cable?
Is this the right cable for the job?
Thanks!

Have you tried a different battery first before tearing the phone apart? I had the exact same issue and it was the battery.

Was there any visible sign/ troubleshoot method to figure out it was the battery? Was the battery bulging and would spin?
Her battery is still flat so it doesnt seem like the lithium is leaking or anything.
Just trying to narrow things down before I spend money on a new battery.
Thanks for your quick reply
Edit: Also the water detecting sticker on the battery is still white so it doesnt appear to be water damaged.

You actually could get a battery cheaper off of Amazon than the eBay route your going. But I figured mine was the battery because I had a spare one to test with and as soon as I popped that one I realized it was the OEM battery and was failing with no physical signs other than performance and the fast discharge and random reboots. How old is her battery ?

Not sure, she got it from a previous owner on craigslist. It is an oem battery so probably the original to the phone.

Check the threads here a lot of people are having issues with the original battery. Seems they are all failing around the same time. But do a search on Amazon and read some reviews before buying a replacement battery but I personaly would recommended the 2 batteries plus wall charger for $20 its awesome you can use one battery while charging the other. Never have a dead phone again. Or just grab an OEM battery for about $5. Do you know any one that has a compatible battery to just test with?
One more thing you got this phone off of Craigslist is it rooted with a custom rom ?

No its not rooted. No one else has a compatible battery . I ordered a battery from amazon so hopefully that is the only problem.
Battery will arrive Monday so I'll update this post when I can.

Samsung S4 Wireless Charging Mod (No Solder)

I was tired of waiting on the S4 Back from Samsung, so heres what I did.
Parts Needed:
LG WCP-700
Qi Wireless Charge Energy Card for Samsung galaxy Note 2
Clear Tape
Surface Case or PT Case
The pictures shows all steps of this mod.
I get about 20 percent per hour. Im using the note 2 card, 5V/1000ma, The case is just for protecting the phone. It is not needed for this MOD. I also have a privacy screen protector on the screen.
nice mod, however i always figured the "concept" of wireless charging is "cool", but i always figured the fact that the pad needs a chord/cable kinda defeats the purpose. none the less, technology is technology and maybe this will lead to greater things in the near future.
Picsay pro
Nice mod, OP could you post a little more info on this? Like results or something, how fast is the charge rate compared to using the normal charger? (Im sure it charges a little slower). Is that case really necessary once you add the charging card?

I guess they sold this phone because there was something wrong with it. You need a charge port module, Ebay.

That's a fair price, I trust amazon better than ebay, always reliable and new products.
You can find videos in YouTube on disassembly to help you fix your phone.
Good.

Wow, didn't realize you were in the great white north , well you'll get a chance to get to know your GS4 more intimately.
It's not that bad, I've repaired a whole bunch of phones, mostly glass and screen replacements and toilet salvage when the wife dropped her GS2 in the terlet, battery pull and disassembly in one minute flat, total disassembly and stuck phone in the AC vent and left overnight, next day reassembly and all was well.
Used. YouTube as a guide.

You could take the part into the shop and have them do the swap. I did that recently with a rear camera replacement. I had bought the replacement camera on eBay.

What Now?

Now that the N7 has been killed off (RIP) whats to come of this forum? Will it be locked, deleted, or what?
I just wanna know the answer of why it was recalled. I know the batteries were catching fire, but wonder if it was design flaw overall or what. It just seems fishy.

(https://twitter.com/arter97/status/786002483424272384?s=09) it's an internal design problem, the curved edges can put pressure on the battery and cause a meltdown. So if it is hit hard on the edge or something it could cause thermal runaway. That's what I surmised from a lil research.

That picture compares the old SDI vs the "safe" ADL but it doesn't explain the new occurrences. It does still seem to be an issue with the battery itself. So either SDI batteries got through or it is the design constraints Samsung wanted the battery to be is just not possible currently.

They should know what they are talking about before reporting. The SOC does not control charging, there is dedicated hardware for charging batteries, especially lithium. Also the latest phones weren't plugged in and the one on the plane was off even, I think.
Yeah. That's what was reported, that it was off

Hi, it is a really good news! Awesome. Could you tell me how it works? As I understand the charging will be started on demand (when I press start button). What will happen if the phone reaches 100%? Will it be stopped automatically? Is it possible to stop charging on demand to?

Yes you choose when it stops. Like if you wanted to charge only to 80% you just hold the back button down for 3 seconds to turn off the battery case.
As for if it stops charging when it gets to 100% I'm not sure. Some cases shut off by itself some don't. I assume this case will stop automatically
I've had several Zerolemon battery cases and have loved them. From the LG G3, G4, Note 4, and iPhone 6 and 7 plus

According to their Amazon purchase page, they recommend using the OEM LG charger and cable. So I assume, yes, the case charges with USB-C cable.

I've always owned ZeroLemon products since the beginning back when I had a galaxy S2, would love to try this out! @ZEROLEMON_OFFICIAL
Would love to try this for you. Have had the Note 4, Nexus 6p both revisions and others.
I would love to stress test this. I hike in forest, and it could be quite life-saving.

I just now noticed this note on the Amazon page:
Note:This battery case passthrough quick charge only.
Still awesome, though.
I'm guessing it will behave similar to the S8 ZeroLemon case (Not that these are deal-breakers or anything, just wondering):
No wireless charging.
It will interfere with NFC.
It is not waterproof.
No fast charging (except for passthrough).
Extra question: Will it interfere with a Tempered Glass screen protector?
@ZEROLEMON_OFFICIAL Am I right?
