Hello all.
I love the ability to play games with a controller on my phone but really hate that I have to hold my phone or put it on a table. So I found a metal plate, measured the controller and made this mount for my phone and controller.
It is very solid and works well. With some paint and an hour of work it will look a little more pro
Happy "modding" your own controller kit

That is a good idea.
Great job.
I like to see when done and painted.
What phone do you have?

I have a SGSII. The good thing is that you only have to make the mount once and whenever you buy a new phone you just change the cover.
I watched you're video. I was hoping to see a tutorial of you actually making it.
I have a question, How did you attached the metal with the plastic???

The thread and thus the pictures above is about a year old and I have since replaced my SGS2 with a SGS3.
The design makes it easy to replace the cover on the mount to fit a Note (or any other device).
Pictures with the SGS3 can be seen here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29395051&postcount=197
My mount is my very own private fun-project and thus not for sale and I do not plan to mass produce it, but a new commercial mount have come up, the Gameklip:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1760595
It cost 15 $ + shipping. The design is rather similar to the one I made (tho a lot more beatyful ). Only disadvantage is that this mount is not universal, and thus do not fit all phones.
Thought I would share my cell mount that I got. I hated big klunkie mounts and buying a new one every time I get a new phone. I found these, one would do but for hard driving two lock the phone in place and nfc works fine.

Which ones did you get? There are multiple options! This is DEFINITELY what I've been looking for!!
One ego for the vent and one fix, I didn't plan on using both but the car is a Charger SRT-8 and if I pushed the car I could make it fall off. Now in most cars this would not be an issue but I like to push it every now and then...

Okay so... the "fix" fastens to the back of the phone and the "ego" clips to the vent? That right?
The "fix" is stuck to the dash under the ego in the vent . All that's on the phone is the metal button that sticks to the magnet in the ego/fix they come with four buttons to choose from..

Alright. I'll be ordering later this morning, haha. Thanks, mate.
is there any options to use this to mount the phone higher up on the windshield like a standard suction cup mount? i really like the idea but i've use vent mounts before i dont really like how it blocks the vent and you have to look away from the road to see your phone.
Just a caution: The stick on variant doesn't like ALL dash types, no matter how well you prep. In my case Subaru WRX.
I got the fixWAY. I love it so much I ended up buying 3 of them, one for each vehicle
I got a car mount from dealextreme and it is quite good. Secure quite tightly and doesnt come loose as i encounter with other mounts.
Granted does not fit when i have my extended battery fit on the phone
Does having a magnet on the back of the phone (when mounted) cause any problems or raise any concerns for anyone?
Yeah that's been asked a few times no it does not matter actually they are 4 small magnets which produce the magnetic fields that holds the phone.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
Here's my setup with the Tetrax Fixway mount I like it a lot. I just used a case to attach the magnet to so I wouldn't have to stick one on my actual phone. It's much more convenient I can just strap on the case when I get in the car and mount it to the Fixway either landscape or portrait.
I couldn't find one that I liked so I made one, take a look and tell me what you think...

What about rain and mud and falls?????? You should try it with a otterbox defender or similar and possibly mount it at or below handle bar level. Just my 2¢… looks great though

Yep, I feel your pain. How do you carry it then with you on a bike?
I really like to use myTracks app again to capture trail elevation and my speed, which I used since I had G1, but worried about new GN ability to survive my crashes. Really wish next Nexus be Motorola with kevlar/waterproof qualities like in Razr Maxx (and good battery as icing on the cake).

i leave it in the pit area when i am on the track. i really have no need to have a phone on me on my bicycle since the only riding i really do is on the track.
for mtb however, i can see a use a device could have. if only there was a case for it like the gopro cameras...

Bike Mount
This is the mount I use on my motorcycle. It is designed to fit the phone with the Seidio Active Case with kickstand. They have other models for other cases as well and they also have models that are designed for just the phone without a case. The mount is excellent and I have no complaints whatsoever with it. I also had one of these mounts for my previous phone as well. Never had any problems.

Look into the Rokbed by Rokform. Should be coming out soon and the mount is very very good. The Kraken is nice, but isn't very solid. If you're doing some hardcore riding there is a chance it could fall out or shake too much.

looks awesome now that its out! Problem is, case is 45$ and the bike mount is 69! Kind of pricey ;/
Also on the search for a bike mount.
One concern I've heard regarding the Rokform is that it's not at all waterproof. There are so many open areas that could potentially allow water to destroy your phone! And let's face it, if you're biking, you're probably going to encounter water. That (along with the insanely high price) is a definite deal breaker for me.
The Kraken at least has port covers.
I've been looking at the Ultimate Addons waterproof case on Amazon UK which comes with various handlebar mounts. It's sold through buybits UK as well.
www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B009YU7IMA/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1363340290&sr=8-3&pi=SL75
I don't think it's fully submersible waterproof but looks fine to use in a quick downpour.
It's just a little big for me for a full time case and I can't justify getting one just as a spare for the motorbike when my tank bag has a clear section for phones.

Hi, Iam looking for some bike case, BUT I have flip cover on my galaxy. Its ok with http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bike-Bicycle-Frame-Front-Tube-Bag-Phone-Case-HTC-Samsung-Galaxy-S412496L-B5-/191234356887?pt=UK_SportGoods_CyclAcces_RL&hash=item2c8674b697? Thx
I have this one http://www.amazon.com/Waterproof-Motorcycle-Handlebar-Galaxy-GT-i9300/dp/B009YH21HU
it works well and would definitely protect in case of a crash. while looking for it i also found this one that i think i might like more:

if looking for a generic bike mount that will literrally work with any phone/case combo, check out the this:

it's definitely priced on the high end, but you get what you pay for. i've been using this holder for my car and bicycle and it's been solid. btw, you can easily move the holder between car and bicycle.

How sturdy is the phone on that mount? And are you using that specific mount with the HTC One? Do you have a case on it.
I wonder if I should just order that or order something else from the RAM Mounts page directly

it's very sturdy. i ride at high speed over potholes and the phones has never fallen. if you upgrade your phone often, i would go this route as it will be compatible for almost any phone/case combo.
btw, if it helps, i also use the same mount on my scooter.

Interesting how you cut it out to fit the quadlock. I thought the cut was all the way through. So it's sticking to the inner part of the otterbox then?
