Unlocking help - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

I have an S2 i9100p which was originally locked to orange under contract, before the contract in late 2013 expired I had it unlocked and everything worked fine until one day it stopped, completely blank, not even switching on... I sent it back to a registered Samsung Repairer and when i got it back everything was different due to the repairs they made, the android version was different to the version i had originally and the phone was no longer unlocked... I have since tied many methods, bought a code online, still locked... on 3 seperate occasions i took it to a local unlocking shop and each time they couldnt do it and couldnt explain why... I have also rooted it with frama root as its the only rooting software that has seemed to work since the repair and then tried the samsung unlock app from this site in the playstore, some apps dont even recognise the phone as a samsung settings for about device > status under phone number say its unknown but recognises the device name and model, imei, etc.. but still no avail to unlocking.... can anyone shed any alternate solutions on how i can unlock this? I dont wanna take it back to the samsung place cos they are so far away and want to charge £50 to try, not to unlock it, to try.... please someone gimme a solution as orange dont provide a good enough service for the area i live and my general usage needs require more than they offer on a payg orange sim (the only sims that work)... ive periodically tried different cards in the hope that it unlocked magically but always get the same screen sim network unlock pin which i dont have , help before my phone becomes a high speed projectile

[Q] Sim problems!

I rooted my desire, and i am using Leedroid with launcher pro, and some apps and what have you, and although it seems to recognise my sim, and knows my phone number, it wont let me connect to my network (orange). any idea why? is it simply locked? or is it something less annoying?
come on people someone must have an answer, or atleast a hypothesis.
just to clear things up, i was given the phone, without a charger or anything, took the old sim out and tried it with mine, rooted it almost straight away, but i dont get signal at home anyway.
A friend of mine had the same problem. He went down to his service provider to get the sim card replaced and it worked. I also overheard while at htc's service center, the service staff giving the same advise to someone.
so i need a new sim card?

Unlock/Root befor Activation

I unlocked my phone, rooted and loaded up JB.
I went into verizon today to get a sim card. The rep could only get the internet to pull data no voice. Is it because I unlocked it and all that it doesn't work?
No it shouldn't be.
Has anyone heard of this problem?
I'm in the Netherlands so I don't know anything about Verizon, but I fail to see how having an unlocked bootloader can interfere with the service of a carrier.
i dont think having it unlocked would cause these issues. However, just to start to rule things out I would return it to 100% stock to see what happens
Turns out the guy I got it from still have the imei under is account as active . Called him and he took it off tried to activate it and blam. Yay this phone is awesome

[Q] unlock code

hi, ok I have a note 2 lte PAYG bought from orange, initial contract agreement was 3 months using their SIM then they would unlock the phone. Phoned up after 3 months, they said it's now 6 months.... gits. So they gave me a PAC code and I used the unlock code given in this forum. It seems to have worked ie no prompt for sim unlock code, can use phone and texts etc. However I cannot get it to access data on another network... is this something orange will still have somehow locked? I can't understand it. My options at the moment are to go back to them for another 6months..! and then another 2 months... while they 'order' an unlock code from Samsung. Assuming their official unlock code is any different from the one I have used already.. :cryingbvious rubbish but they seem to be able to force customers this way. I should really be free of them, but this accessing data problem is something I need to fix. any ideas? please? I HATE orange..
Be certain you have the correct apn for the network you are using. Orange will have a different one than the next carrier.
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement

If you are able to make or receive a phone call with any network other than Orange (or T-Mobile/EE because they are the same network essentially) then the phone is definitely unlocked.
We see this problem quite a lot and the only thing you need to do is to get in touch with the new network that you are trying to use and request the APN settings from them. As soon as the phone is updated with them, your data access will work as well.
In case any networks ever tells you (or anyone else with a similar issue) that the phone is only "partially unlocked" or "not fully unlocked" - they are talking out of their :cyclops: A phone is either unlocked or not.
Hope that helps.

Unlocking Samsung Galaxy S4 SGH-I337

Okay, so I found a found at a gas station a couple weeks ago and I wanna get straight talk on it. The package I got, however, didn't have a SIM card that would work with the phone... The ATT ones were too small for the sim slot and it's an ATT locked phone, so the t mobile ones that came with it won't work...
Now, on with the part where I try to unlock the phone. I was originally going to root it but I don't have any experience and heard that it could kill the phone and I just need it unlocked right now. I've looked all around the net and here's what I found.
*#0011# - can't use menu back
*#197328640# - Takes me to the debug menu but the phone control option (in some walkthroughs it's 6, in others it's 8) simply isn't there.
Any number I've entered to get me into the system control menu won't let me go back from the menu it enters me in. I'm not paying 30$ to unlock it via ebay or one of these unlock code sites considering there's got to be a way to unlock it using the system controls. Can anyone help me? I've come close a couple of times on random forums, I see people asking the question however the conversation then gets side tract and moves on to something else.
So, I tried calling att and getting them to give me an unlock code and they said because I don't have a number. I've officially reached a dead end on unlocking the phone. I'm thinking instead I'll root the phone so I can use it (I think that works). But I know that it can be dangerous and come with side effects, so what I'm wondering is if anyone can give me any information on unlocking or rooting.
I'm not sure if I included what I'm trying to do in my original post.
I found a Samsung Galaxy S4 a while ago, I kept it around for a bit and no one came to claim it after two weeks so I took it home and used it on my wireless net and downloaded some games and movies for my daughter. Now, ATT is trying to screw me over on my iphone so I'm cancelling that contract and trying to get straight talk on this this phone. I bought the pack, put in the SIM card that fit and the phone read, and it came up that I need to unlock it to use this one because it was a t-mobile sim card (The att ones in the pack didn't fit).
All I want to do is use this phone with straight talk. The super small SIM cards won't fit in it and the larger Tmobile sim cards are Tmobile on an ATT galaxy and won't work.
Please help.
Try this method, worked for me to unlock. I used method 2. Some are reporting that this doesn't work for them. You will lose sound and WiFi on MDL modem but will fix when you flash back. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2597973

Question AT&T bootloader & Carrier lock

Well since I have found zero threads about AT&T bootloader unlock. Does anyone have any solution? Whenever I put in any other sim, it just says that unable to use any other sim apart from AT&T. So I just factory resetted my phone and blocked the device setup app from accessing the internet via the Netguard app. That's allowed me to use any SIM card apart from AT&T however it's not a permanent solution but I'd like to know my options. Any chance of me working around a carrier unlock or possibly bootloader unlock? I bought this phone outside the US, and to my stupidity I never factored in that this was also a possibility that it's carrier locked, that too with a bad standing. I tried unlocking online but it just says that there's payments overdue and that I should log into my AT&T account. Tried calling their customer service, however they're useless and unhelpful. Learned the hard way, depressed that I've kinda wasted my money. Can there possibly be a way to carrier unlock my device and bootloader unlock?
Can you return the phone? The seller should have disclosed that information and the phone will technically only be used on AT&T until it's paid off, and currently on AT&T (for 60 or 90 days before they will sim unlock)
I tried going back to the shop, they just said that there's no way that they offer returns and that I should just contact AT&T for this issue. I'm running out of options and patience. I'm basically stuck with this phone. There's really no check and balance here when it comes to these matters
