One of the things that I noticed on the multiwindow feature, most applications cannot be added to the sidebar. After feeling dissapointed about the supported apps, this has been true since the beginning of multiwindow, but developers have found great ways to enable the use of any application on multiwindow.
Here is an app that can allow you to enable most apps for multiwindow.
The app requires root access and so far I have had no problems.

Thanks for plugging my app. For the popup window feature, you could use my other app Pen Window Manager if your device is rooted. If your device is not rooted then you could use MW-Pen App Enabler. Both are available in the Play Store.
Wow, so you are the app developer, I cannot show you how grateful I am for the time you took on these apps. The interface is intuitive and blends well with the default theme, I like the finishing touches you added like when an app is enabled, a more intuitive option them check boxes. I rely a lot on multiwindow; without your app, I'd be frustrated every time I would open a file that opens with a different app and true multitasking would not be possible.
First I thought that enabling popup windows was not possible, now that you told me, I can't wait to get my hands on the pen window app.
Once again, we thank you for enabling us to truly define our user experience.

Multi window app works great but the Pen window manager app crashes when I open it. Tried restarting the tablet and clearing app data.
Update... I went to use the Multi Windows app and now it was crashing too despite it working before. I ended up backing up my apps via Titanium backup and doing a factory reset and resetting up my tablet. MW and Pen apps work fine now...
Not working for me. 12.2 rooted.
Everytime when I hold the BACK button I see only default list, not my apps.
Took me a while to figure out that the application merely adds my apps to the list of options available for placement on the right hand bar. You still have to edit the bar manually.

I am wondering the same thing...
I actually went back to Kitty and installed the Mods I prefered to use that were not available for Lolly at that time including Wanam Xposed and activated all my apps that way.
I am still on Kitty no plans on upgrading at the moment as I prefer a close to stock rom with no custom Kernals then I modify using Xposed mods and Nova Launcher. There is a ROM I closely follow for when I do decide to go back to Lolly but until I see a reason to upgrade I am content with rocking my phone this way.
And I think this post is dead lol

(Above is basically a clean CM10 rom with dual pane in Settings)
Recently discovered after finding and using azoller's CM10.1 Fusion ROM for a day or two.
This method involves using Xposed Framework and basically requires installing 2 apks, then changing some settings for it to take effect.
NOTE: None of this will affect your notifications bar or navbar, it just changes resolutions/layouts, except you can make specific apps fullscreen if you want.
1. Install this apk (from the main thread), click Install/Update, and reboot.
2. Install this apk (a module/add on for dpi/resolution change) and reboot a second time.
3. Go into Xposed App Settings which is the 2nd app installed, and any app that has Screen (dp,px) set to 800x1200 will act as if it were a tablet app. This includes Settings, YouTube, anything that looks different with a tablet.
If any graphics are too big/small, you can change the DPI, but 160-190 is pretty good most of the time. It's pretty simple and mostly cool, and should work on just about any rom.
The attached screenshots show my settings for the Android Settings to have a dual pane and some examples of YouTube looking more expanded than usual.
Again, none of this is my doing, I just figured it out recently and thought a simple step by step would be nice for people who haven't tried it yet and/or aren't running stuff like AOKP and ParanoidAndroid (built in tablet UI roms).
thanks for your tutorial, it works.but we can't get a full working Tablet UI here. the status bar and notification are still on top even though I set the "Launcher" screen to 1280x800. also we need to set the app one by one in order to enable the tablet layout, there is no way to adjust the whole apps by a single setting.

Sorry, maybe I should've had a step 0 where it says to read the thread.

It says that right above the instructions, none of my screenshots show a tablet UI, and I specifically talked about resolution and layout instead of the notification/navbar UI.
Hmmmm. Is the tablet UI just like it is on PA?

The screenshots show what it does, and it doesn't change the notifications/navbar. Just like I told the other guy, it's pointed out in the NOTE above the instructions, and my OP isn't even that long to begin with...
This is for people like me who like dual-pane mode and tablet-ized apps, but who also don't like the whole tablet UI on the bottom. It's basically a tablet layout with phablet notifications/navbar, like how ParanoidAndroid can do by itself in Phablet mode, but it works across most roms and that's the benefit really.
You're right. Really sorry, I missed to read that part.
BTW, when I used PA and I choose phone mode, I was able to make the layout of opera mini the same as it appears on my phone (the navigation buttons located in the bottom). Here, I tried to change the setting of opera mini, but the app layout didn't change at all. Is it possible to simulate the phone mode (layout) for opera mini using those software? I need this because it's more convenient to have the buttons on the bottom when we're in portrait mode.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
First thanks to the op for pointing me in the right direction. With this app, i was finally able to get opera mini phone layout (navigation bar on the button) on nexus 7 running CM10.1
Under settings for opera mini, i just increased the dpi to 600 and resolution to 800x1280 and voila ?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Might be a stupid question but will this affect OTA's/manual install of updates??
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
So, uh, will this work with stock ROM? (not indexed/deodexed, etc.)
Thanks for sharing the specific resolution settings. It would be nice to keep DPI for large text, and just have dual pane fit like a tablet app

You can change the text size with xposed app settings. Its next to dpi
The xposed framework has been a lifesaver especially since paranoid android has been a buggy mess since it went vanilla aosp instead of cm based. AOKP plus xposed app settings is rock solid and stable.

This is what I read about App Ops:
"Some apps don't show all their required permissions until we use them. For instance with Bump app the authorizations for "vibrate mode" and "Send notification" only appear when we open the app and try to send something."

yes, and you can try "App Ops Launcher" on play store to launch the "App ops" on android 4.3, it is just only 7kb.
it is coming with the next update? i mean official yet?
A new way for end users to break apps...a developers nightmare come true. While I like the idea of this it is too easy for users to switch off permissions, forget they did it, app appears broken and the developer must waste time supporting a non-issue.
This is aimed at the functionality Google has added to 4.3 not the OP's shortcut app.

The situation wouldn't be the current one if some developpers don't use useless permissions. Have a look at Facebook's permissions...
The user has to know what he does before criticizing an app that seems to not work properly.

If used properly this is an awesome addition, the problem is what I stated above will indeed happen.
Example being a wallpaper app (we will call it wall-e) shouldn't be able to read contacts if it can't set contact images, in this example disabling this ability is warrented. But perhaps you didn't know this particular wallpaper app can set contact images, you disable this permisssion. Weeks later your changing John Doe's image to find wall-e in the list with gallery, you think cool I can use wall-e to change John's image so you select wall-e and bam...force close. You think the app is broken, send bug report, the developer reads the crashlog and tries for hours to find out why on this particular device setting a contact image causes a crash.
This is a general example, it gets worse as most users have no idea what permissions are really necessary for Android applications basic functionality.
Then it gets much worse, this is one user...imagine all the millions of users using hundreds of thousands of apps once 4.3 is mainstream like 4.2.
Please try this "App ops launcher", it is only 7kb, scan this and install on your device to have a try.
cheers :good: will it also work on jb4.1.2?

Does it help with battery life? I'm reading different things about battery life in standy with 3g vs 2g signals and I'm getting the dual sim card version so has me a bit concerned.
I have tried wanam in my s4 mini duos.It works fine for some time, then strangely the system ui crashes and I have to factory reset to get out of it.Has anybody faced this problem?
What are some wanam settings you guys are using?
Alternate App Picker
(saves a click when you don't want to set a default app)
Disable Clear Defaults Dialog
Disable Location Consent
(removes useless messages that you don't want to see over and over again)
EnableCallRecording
Greenify
(because Facebook won't sleep unless you knock it out)
Notification Mod
(pull down notifications on lock and PIN screens)
Pictures2SD
(makes your S4 mini store camera shots/movies to your external memory card)
Wanam Xposed
(customise quick settings tiles, remove airplane mode and bluetooth toggle popups, flashlight when you long-press vol up, kill camera/boot/battery sounds, enable expanded boot menu, keyboard symbols, all 4 rotation angles, kill apps by long-pressing back button, customise auto-brightness)
XPrivacy
XVolume
(more volume steps for your music)
I'm Using [Greenify - Wanam Xposed - App Settings]
Here are mine (currently I'm on SlimKat, on JB I used some more)
Boot manager --> decide which apps that can start at boot
Custom Share --> decide which apps show up when you push the "share" button
Instagram Downloader --> makes you download instagram photos directly from the app
MinMinGuard --> Ad remover (in apps and on the browser)
AppOpsXposed --> bring back AppOps
YouTubeAdAway --> it's in the name
xMultiWindow --> adds multiwindow-like view to any rom
Greenify --> it's not really an xposed module but you get some extra features
GPS notification --> apparently when KK doesn't have th GPS notification icon, this brings it back
Map zoom invert --> inverts the zoom movements on google maps
Play store link in app info --> it includes a button in "app info" that takes you to the play store entry of the app
I use:
BootManager
CustomShare
Disable Clear Defaults Dialogue
Disable Location Consent
Disable NFC Tag Empty
DisableBatteryFullAlert
Google Search API
GoogleOfflineVoice
HideBatteryLowAlert
Play Store Link in App Info
Xposed StatusBar Mods - SGS
XuiMod
YouTube AdAway
I9195, ROM - CM 10.2.1 (4.3.1) rooted

It has been possible on every Samsung device that has multi-window. I have all apps available on Note 8 and 10.1. It could be done through an app or using xposed. It's a question of time to get it on 8.4.

As the tab pro tablets multiwindow tray combine both the floating and dual/quad multiwindow, if your device is rooted, you could could use the MW Apps Manager to add more apps for dual/quad multiwindow and use the Pen Window Manager to add same apps to be able to run in floating mode. If your device is not rooted you could use MW-Pen App Enabler to add apps to both modes.

How do I drag and drop items onto the multi window sidebar? I clicked the edit button, click and hold on an app, try to drag it over, nothing happens. Same thing with try to remove an app from the sidebar.
Okay I can confirm I can add any app to multi window on my unrooted tab 8.4 using the mw - pen window enabler linked on page one. I had to buy the pro key but easily worth the £1.30 which I plan to email Samsung to get it back. If it's possible for a guy to make this app why can't they enable it by default.

I believe the xposed module is called wanam xposed and is a all I one touch wiz tweaker. The multi window editor is in the interface tab I believe

I just finished updating this for Kit Kat, so I figured I'd post it
It's your typical "enable multi-window for any app" app with a few extra bells and whistles for the donate version. I don't really like mods that enable every single app because it gets messy and lags the tray out pretty bad, so I made this to let you pick and choose which ones to enable. This is still a WIP, so feel free to give suggestions / bug reports.
Create shortcuts to launch 2 apps in windowed mode at the same time
Create shortcuts to launch any app in windowed mode...the point of this being that it allows you to use 3rd party side bar launchers such as GloveBox, SwipePad, etc. in place of the stock flashbar
Launch 2 instances of the same app...some apps don't work. most browsers don't (4.4 samsung browser does by default)
Backup/Restore your enabled apps list
Auto enable newly installed apps
Inverted (Black) flashbar theme
Remove icon labels from the flashbar

Backup/Restore your enabled apps list
Auto enable newly installed apps
Inverted (Black) flashbar theme
Remove icon labels from the flashbar
Get it in the Play Store

Ever since i had 4.4.2 running, i have been checking the app every freaking minute even tried making it work myself (didn't have enough time though) then i saw it was updated! I AM SO HAPPY Thanks for all your hard work!
Great app, really liking the inverted theme. Simple, but with options and the look is really, really clean, great job OP!

With this enabled my S Health app FC errors. Tried clearing data, uninstalling updates, etc. I disabled XPOSED and S Health worked fine. I disabled the modules one at a time. This one broke it. Why would that be?
