For some reason the red notification light turned on and stays on even when the phone is turned off. It only goes off when I remove the battery.
It stays on and is a steady red light, it does not flash red.
I've only seen the notification light flash blue when I have a missed call, text message or email, but I've never seen it turn red before and it stays red all the time.
I know the notification light shows red when the phone is charging and the screen is off, but I turned off that feature a long time ago and that feature is still off.
The red notification light was off when I put the phone on the table, but when I looked at the phone an hour later the red light was on and stays on constantly.
It's the notification light on the left side of the earpiece on the phone. This has nothing to do with the sensor or camera that are on the right side of the earpiece.
In the Sprint manual it is called the Status Light, but it is also called the Notification Light.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?

I love having my notification light but after unlocking my phone it goes away. I dont always look at the notification the first time I unlock it so I forget about it. also it would be nice if it stayed on while I was using the phone. Suggestions on getting both of these features
Light flow. You can set it so the notification stays until you open the app

Yeah, I am able to use Light Flow. However, the color is different what i set in the light flow.
Hey guys,
Ever since ICS update, the charging LED completely overrides all notification LEDs.
I used to have k9mail LED color set to white which results in the LED blinking red whenever a new email arrives. This works perfectly fine if the phone is not being charged and this also worked before ICS but this no longer works.
Anyone else notice this with their E4GT?
Thanks
My notification light has never worked except while charging it glows red, blue when full then unplug and sometimes it stays red

Try blink or light flow in the market.

Neither fix it

Yeah this beg has been there since the early leaks, Samsung screwed us on that one and I guess Sprint never made it a priority to fix. This works in aokp though so I figure it also works in cm9 and other aosp roms.
I don't even use the leds they just blink and drain the battery. I have them disabled for everything including charging. You can't see it blink in your pocket so all its doing is wasting your battery as it blinks away unattended and it has notifications and vibration to alert you to an incoming message. No real point in having sound, vibration, an icon and a light for a notification. Plus ICS doesn't handle the LEDs properly and they keep the SoC from going into deepsleep causing excessive battery drain. You use less battery to click the screen on and look for an icon than you do with the LED blinking til you check it anyways.

the two next to the camera up top? Just bought this phone used, are they supposed to light up when you get notifications like my LG revolution did or is it just the pulsing light at the bottom as the alert?
thanks.

The top two things you see are light sensors. When you cover they turn off the screen to prevent you cheeks from hitting buttons while in a call.
Just the pulse light lights up

The led is on the bottom. You can use an app like Lightflow to color code your notifications.
I can't tell if I'm going crazy of not. I think my notification light during charging was red when near empty, yellow when in the middle, and green when near full.
Now it pulses every color. No light control asps are installed. Is this normal? Or an I correct that it's not supposed to do this

Hey guys bought the Nexus 7 about 2-3 days ago
is the LED notification light come on when charging?
I haven't seen the LED light come on since I bought the device
Do you guys think it's defect?
ps. already tried to turn it on with led notification app and still no light
Its only for notification and must be turned on in display setting.
For example - light starts flashing if an email arrives while display is off.

the pulse notification light is on and still yet no LED light pulsing
I just exchanged it today and LED notification is till not working. Can't even get the light on at all
Did you send yourself an email while the display is off?

run light flow from market. It has a test mode to see if your LED works.
Also you can set it up to blink the LED when charging and stay solid when full.
Mine turns on when I get emails.

Notification LED only pulses on notification when the screen is off. It pulses very slowly, once every about 10 seconds.
It depends from the apps. For example in Facebook, it pulses every 2 secs but when in hangouts, it pulses every 10 secs. My best guess to change this would be to either install a custom rom, or like many said install lightflow from the play store.

For future use, that's generally the standard protocol with any app where you need to test / maniplate the led.
I thought my notification light may be defective as well... I tested with light flow and it works, odd that it does not light up when receiving an email or other notification? Must be a software issue? On stock rooted ROM and stock kernel.
