[Q] Cyanogen mod or stock jellybean on Tab 3 7.0? - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So far, I can't find any ROM for these. I just got my Tab 3 7.0 from AT&T and it's loaded with bloatware and to be honest, I really don't like the stock OS. Is there a way I can get Cyanogenmod or stock jellybean with gapps?

If you have the At&t version, the bootloader is locked. You most likely will never have custom roms.

Reading through the forums before asking would be a good start. There are so many helpful topics on the device and how to unlock/root/upgrade the OS. If a n00b like me could figure out how to get from 4.0.1 yakjuux to 4.1.1 from reading on XDA then anyone can. Good luck.

well what i am confused about that there is soooo many roms and radios to choose from and its a little overwhelming because i had not had this many choices since i had a Samsung Epic, and since then i came from phones that pretty much had 1 or 2 roms the stratosphere and droid 4. and i kinda forgot about all the flashing and stuff. does this phone use odin to do it's flashing? i tried google and it says the verizon copy of this phone has a locked bootloader but there is a way to unlock it.
i just want a rom that has a clean,Fast,Jellybean, with root and no bloatware and good radio. something that i can edit the boot animations easy.
i was looking at the Vicious Toro rom and that looks like the best for me, i was also looking at that Gnex toolkit v7.4 is that what i use to unlock the bootloader and flash roms?

Use bigxies it's just aosp jb but rooted and deodexed. Also leave the toolkits to the noobs, better to do it manually - fastboot oem unlock, etc.

Can't flash takju or yakju (which are for the GSM Nexus) on a CDMA Nexus. And there is no official JB update for the CDMA Nexus yet, so he'll need a custom ROM if he doesn't want to wait.

yea i was a little confused on that part because i was thinking this was the toro and those were the GSM devices. i just wanna know what is the easy way to go from Stock 4.04 to the Vicious JB rom with root and unlocked bootloader.
i guess what is getting to me is that there is just so much stuff other there and so many ways to root and flash stuff and i was soo hooked with Odin and then i had to go to the motorola Side of things and did not enjoy that at all. but it has been way more then a year since i last flashed roms and stuff like that
also i noticed there is tons of kernels to use as well with the vicious rom.the faux one looks the best as it has a OC with it

it seems XDA should of gave CDMA and GSM devices there own General forum lol i could of been flashing GSM stuff for all i know
but i think i got everything down for when my phone comes tomorrow. been studying the toolkit and reading about how to flash roms through CWM app and kernels
should i just leave the radio alone or is there a better copy?
You'll find this phone easy to root and flash Roms on. Not easy to brick. Try all the roms . That's the great thing about the nexus, so much to choose from.

I have been thinking about flashing a AT&T Rom.......

So I did! Works flawless. Check the included pic. Everybody in both forums act like oh stay in your forums don't try it. We should all work together to better the community as a whole. I can confirm all works well, not a single issue.
ummm you obviously have an att s3 it says i747 in your pic. so why would it be a problem for you to flash a att rom? lol
i don't get the point of your post..

I obviously have a tmo T999 check the baseband, you might notice it is a LH2 I believe. Just trying to open doors for people for more options to flash is the point of the thread and hopefully bring some cross development to both forums.
wtf.. didn't know it would change your model number description.. anyways what rom is it?
Yeah I knew it would change my build prop, but had no idea the kernel would work. The Rom is sweet and it is listed at the bottom of the pic(not sure how to spell it) Love the options this might open up. Just understand, it will be unsupported, so you have to be able to trouble shoot it if any issues arise(none as of 3+ hours)

Need Help Doing this.
I am new to this Android world. I came from AppleLand. I got T-mobile branded Galaxy S3 witch is SIM unlocked and currently using it with AT&T. I would like to flash AT&T rom on this t-mo Galaxy S3. I have no clue where to start and how to do it. I read on this forum that flash counter is may be a problem if I flash non stock ROM. My question is
1. Is it possible to flash ATT rom on T-Mo galaxy S3?
2. That counter thing is going to be a problem?
3. Is my phone has to be ROOTED first?
4. All AT&T apps will work?
5. If there is any problem, Can I go back to T-Mobile rom?
Thanks.

Can't wait to get some good MIUI ROMs on this phone, has anyone with a T999V tried flashing AT&T ROMs yet?
Just an update, I have flashed a working Sprint Rom, I had to edit the apn before flashing(if you don't know how to and what this is, don't do it you will not have data) but the Rom runs great. The Verizon Roms want to verify you are on Verizon, so I am working on it. So I have run AT&T and Sprint Roms with success with working data.

Where is the option to unlock and flash stock unbranded android?
By stock Android do you mean a version of Cyanogenmod? I don't know if it is yet available for our phones. If by unbranded you mean a Samsung Touchwiz based rom with the Samsung apps removed, then that can be done by visiting the Development forum for this device. There are Touchwiz based custom roms to be found there.
Welcome to the Galaxy Note 2 and good luck.

Note 10.1 v2 and knox

I'm looking to buy a 2014 10.1 and something caught my attention and was curious about it. I have a s4 running 4.3 android and thanks to Knox I cant put a custom recovery on it and have to use safestrap to use a custom rom essential wasting much space. Is that a issue with the tablet as well. Or is twrp/clockwork able to be used?

Of course you can flash a custom recovery and custom roms, but it cant be done without triggering knox. Flashing the rom itself is harmless, its the flashing of a custom recovery that triggers knox. So if you can live with that just go a head and flash, if not.... then dont.
Good luck
Ok thanks for the clarification the knox part is still kind of new to me. Tw is a little heavy just wanted to make sure I had the option to run an aosp rom down the line.

Pretty sure you can go back to kit kat as I don't think custom roms change the boot loader just stock firmware does. Only thing is if your knox hasn't tripped it will if you flash a custom kernel and lollipop.

In this case though, I would be upgrading from stock Kitkat to an official lolipop release. After the issues with Kitkat to Jelly Bean I am concerned I'll be able to downgrade back to kitkat.

I'm not sure about miscommunication, there is no CM here. I flash back to the stock rom my phone came with then accept the Lolipop update? Or is there no Lolipop for S4 Mini right now?

No lollipop update from Samsung ever to come for s4 mini. Just custom roms.
Okay, well that explains that, lol.
I really liked the sunburst click for the lockscreen unlock, but I didn't think it was possible with the Theme-manager dictated CM. Was hoping Samsung had a way to keep it.
