I have flashed candykat rom a few days ago. It works smoothly. But media apps such as music player or gallery are not able to recognise my external sd card. I searched around but couldn't find any solution. Does anyone have any good solution about that issue?
Thanks.

I believe that they are located in /sdcard/Android/data/com.google.android.music/cache/music
and it totally sucks that you can't move it to external Sd card.

Technically there isn't supposed to be am external sd card these days, android only looks at the internal memory for app storage and what not... At least it does now

I guess it could be updated or nodded to look in both places but the mount points would be impossible to keep up with

Would it be possible to make the directory listed a symlink to a folder on the external sd card? Just a thought, I don't actually use my phone enough for music for it to be a concern to me.
The new update put my offline cache in /data/data/com.google.android.music/cache
Previously it was on sdcard/android/com.google.android.music/cache
If you are wanting to import the files. It strips the id3 tags so you will need something like "offline music importer" from the play store. And go back to the system app version of play music

The biggest problem with this is how samsung names the partitions, they when with sd card for internal and external sd card for sd card, so apps just looks for Sd cards, that's my biggest problem with this phone since I have 64 gb sd card, at least it less you saves pictures on sd card

I have my play music on my ext sdcard.
I had to do it in a round about way but it worked.
I downloaded all my music to PC and then copied all the folders onto my microsd.
When I put the micro SD in my phone, play music found it and was somehow smart enough to not double the albums (play music store and mp3s on card).
Hope this helps!

Winamp sees my SD card in my GS3 but doesn't see any of the files. On my old G2x, the files were recognized, and I could play them.
Any idea how to fix this?
anyone have any thoughts here? why doesn't winamp see the music on my GS3 SD card?
Maybe because its mounted as MTP? Try using sgs3 easy ums. It'll mount your ext sdcard as mass storage. Otherwise, not sure.

Just a quick question about music not showing up in neither of my music apps(power amp,Google music, walkman). I tried googling it but couldn't find a solution but I can play the music through root explorer but it won't scan into the apps. Most of my music is on my external SD but some even in my internal SD card won't appear. The funny thing is that the music has been in my library before with other ROMs. Right now I'm rocking liquid smooth. Any suggestions?
Thanks

It is very strange that I can not make any media player play media files that stores on external SD card. I tried XBMC and stock music player and mobo player and found none of them can.....any suggestions?

I use the stock media player and it plays everything from my external SD card. Strange...

Is your external SD card accessible for anything else? You didn't format it to NTFS, did you?
If all failes, check out the Jet audio music player from the play store and abandon the stock player.
I'm an avid music listener and found it the best player all-round...use the plus version now!
(I have tried a lot of them)
All my music and videos are stored on sd card I don't hav to make any changes to it shows by default in my stock player.

Reformat it again, in a PC. Use ExFAT.
any chance you may have a hidden file called .nomedia or folders starting with a period on your memory card?
folders starting with a period are hidden, and any folder containing a file named .nomedia is skipped when looking for media.
if you only just added those files to your memory card you might need to manually run the media scanner.

You need not have formatted the External SD Card....
Just go to Settings>Storage and click on Unmount SD card and then click on Mount SD card again.
No need to format...not need to take out SD card.
Quick and easy.....
