Hi everyone,
Few months ago, my HTC G2/Desire Z stated shows weird behaviors on the touch screnn, Like pressing by himself on icons like I want to drag and drop, loosing signal when using the top panel...
Finaly, half of my touch screen is not responding now (the down part). I left my phone switched off because couldn't unlock screen until I find androidscreencast.
Sensitive buttons Home, Menu, Back and Search respond perfecly well all the time.
Also, the track pad only works few seconds after I turn the screen on.
For exemple I press the "On" button then I can use the track pad for few seconds normaly after that it does not work properly or is not responding at all.
Only the trackpad button always works perfectly.
Are these problems due to the Digitizer ? Is there anyway I could fix the problem withou changing parts ?
I'm using Cyanogen latest Rom, my processor is overclocked at 1.4Ghz, 1.0Ghz since today to save the battery.
Thank you for your help
Around a year ago, my Tab used to get hot a lot while charging. And within some days, a part of the display was gone.
Im not sure, but may be because of too much overclocking, a device will lead to overheating. This might be the reason.
Its not clear from your post, what rom you are using. You said cyanogenmod. But its not clear, which version or whose rom you are using. Try to flash a different rom.
If the problem persists, then it clear your digitizer needs to be replaced.
Thanks...

Hi All,
I have the CDMA version of the Rhodium and happen to be in Europe right now. After a few calls to Verizon I have been using voice and data successfully for the past few days.
Last night after dinner however, I realized my phone appeared frozen and unresponsive via the touch screen. I powered down the phone using the hangup/power button and powered it back on. Touch screen unresponsive. I Soft-Reset and still same problem. I re-flashed the ROM provided by verizon (Since I couldn't get the send/hangup & power keys to do a hard-reset) and still nothing.
I am fairly certain this was not exposed to any water damage. All keyboard and hard-buttons still remain responsive. Anything I can do to try and resolve this?
BTW: The stickers inside are red--they have been red since probably a week after getting the phone but everything has functioned fine for months -- I blame humidity on the red-sticker part.
Any thoughts here on resolving lack of response from Rhodium Touch Screen?
Thanks in advance.

Same here .. Did you find anyway to get it working?
I m facing an awkward problem with my WFS's touch.... It works pretty fine with everything for sometime but after some irregular time, it starts acting erratically and I simply loose the focus on the screen...... the touch buttons automatically start acting until I lock the phone using power button.... As soon as I do so, it works like a charm again after sometime....
Notes:-
1. It doesn't happen in any particular ROM.
2. It doesn't happen in any particular apps.
3. It doesn't happen in any particular time interval, it just happens, sometimes after 10 seconds only, and sometimes not even for half an hour continuously.... (I was watching a movie on phone on mxplayer.... It worked pretty fine for about 45 minutes, and all of sudden, the touch closed the movie....... I turnt the screen off and then again came back, then it happened again within 10 to 20 seconds continuously for about 10 times so I got pissed off and kept the mobile aside.......)
4. I have tried almost everything out there related to touch fixes for WFS, like unlock freeze problem solutions etc, but neither of them happens to work in my case.....
5. I just have a hunch that its moisture problem.... I guessed, that when I use my phone's screen continuously, it works like a charm like earlier, but when the screen gets heated up ,it starts reacting erratically......
If anyone has any solution of at least knows the accurate problem, I wold b really thankful to them...........
I have tried using different ROMs, Kernels etc...........
If you think it's something related to moisture. Put the phone in a rice container for 24 hours. Take the battery, mmc, and back cover first. Shut down the container tight. The moisture should be take care of.
It can also be faulty connection or another hardware problem.
This also happens to me so you are not alone. Though I have grown used to it, it is still a pain in the back side at times. I also press the power button in order to temporarily remedy the problem. This is a hardware issue either to do with as said moisture or overheating.
well...what happens with mine is when i press the power button to unlock, touchscreen doesnt respond for some time and i am unable to unlock the device. But after that touchscreen works fine. Sometimes i even cant recieve the phone! And if even a single tine drop of water falls on screen...entire screen stops working!
That happend with mee too...i just send mine to hTC service center(ahmedabad)...they replaced touch screen and motherboard for free, though with s-off with custom rom...they didnt denied for warranty,lol....!!!
Now every thing works fine.

Lucky you smartboy....
Well as a solution I too went to customer care center they said they'd have to update the touchscreen firmware and would require a special card to do so, and for the time being they didn't have it and hence they would send a request to other center to get it.... I'm waiting for their reply when they get it....
Thanks sukhijit for the moisture solution.... I'd try that also....
Hi All,
I have a rooted (boot loader unlocked) HTC Wildfire S Marvel (A510E)
It has a strange problem. The lock screen freezes every time after locking and I have to try about 6 to 7 times to unlock it.
This is Common across all the ROMs that I have tried including stock and many Custom ROMs.
Also, two stripes of portion of the phone's screen i.e., upper side and left side doesn't work at all.. Not even touch.
For ex; I can't type alphabets 'q' and 'a' in qwerty keyboard. However, display is working. not touch.
The warranty of phone is expired and I really want to know if there is any way that I can fix either or both of these problem in home.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Kindly inform me if I posted this question in wrong area as I am totally new to this forum.
The lockscreen 'freeze' generally happens to everyone, even me,when I use the scary governor. It also happens for stock users.Did your screen die due to excess heat at that area I.e.do you use it in extremely hot conditions?
Lock screen > Grounding issue
I bought Wildfire S day before (New but without warrenty) and it was working very good. When i charge it full and then started using it its lock screen in not responding well. After doing 5-6 retries i was on the home page. Opened menu and tried to click on Favourites or Downloaded icons, it not working. Sometime it does but i cant open downloaded apps page. Similarly its back button is totally not working.
I charged it from my other HTC charger and then then problem was over. I worked well. But again after some time same problem started. I have searched over internet and seen similar problem in HTC Sensation for grounding. And there is a way out given too... But no such procedure can be applied to Wildfire S.
Can anyone suggest any solution?
Thnx.. Nope..

Maybe you damaged the digitizer. Search for a new digitizer on net and replace it yourself. You can find guides for it online.

HTC phones have severe problem of screen not responsive when connected to a power source, may it be a USB or a charger. I had that problem before I got my phone serviced. It was completely resolved.
Just use original charger and make sure the power plug you are using has proper wiring. I mean proper earthing.
I faced same problem few months ago,I send it in HTC customer care .they replaced front panel

Hi,
The touch screen in my wildfire s is not responding properly. Sometimes while using the phone, some touch feature gets clicked automatically, for e.g. when I am using the camera, the home button gets clicked automatically and it comes to the home page or some time the search window pops up automatically from no where. Rooting the device or putting a custom rom din't help.
Please help me to know whether I need to change some hardware from the service center or does this prob has some soft fixes?? Any body else having the similar kinda prob??

I've had similar things happen on my Wildfire S, but only under 2 conditions:
1. When my fingers/ the screen are wet. It tends to think i've pressed every button on the screen.
2. When the phone is overheated.
So if it's either of those problems, the first one is common sense to fix (dry yo' hands). The second probably means you're using too much RAM. Use a task manager to see if you have any RAM hogs.. It's probably neither of those, but it's the best I can do.
I've had a couple wfs that had problems similar to the ones that you are having. I just took the phone back because it was under warranty. Touch screen problems is a hardware issue that can't be fixed by flashing a ROM but sometimes it can but it depends. In your situation I would take the phone back if its under warranty. Is your phone new? When did you start experiencing this problem? Hope this helps.

I don't think that is the case with me as sometimes it happens just after the restart of the phone also. Some time it stops responding completely. But when I lock the screen and unlock it again through the power button, it starts responding properly. Can be a hardware issue. Is changing the digitizer gonna help? (I dnt have much knowledge about the hardware though.. )

Hello,
I was looking through the XDA, but haven't found anything similar, so I hope somebody could have an idea what could it be.
First of all, phone is HTC One X-32GB International version.
Few days ago, I noticed that after some idle time, my HOX touch screen becomes unresponsive. At first, I didn't pay too much attention, because everything was fine after restar by power button, but problem continued to repeat.I thought it could be because of the heavy use, so I started to disable app by app but nothing changed.I restarted it several times after that and noticed that if I try side buttons, they show volume is going up and down when I press them. Also a big screen clock is normally working, so my next guess was that maybe a factory reset would solve the problem, but it didn't.
So what i shappenintg?
When I surf the net,or dialling numbers,or whatever else, everything works fine to the moment I stop touching it and leave it idle for a while. After few minutes, screen is unresponsive, doesn't matter if I put screenlock on or of.I can't even answer the call when it rings.Everything looks just as it should look, but is unresponsive.Except side buttons. Then again I have to restart it with long press power button. If I don't touch the screen after phone restarts, after minute or two it goes to unresponsive state again.
I hope somebody has idea what could or what should I do.
Thanks in advance
*update
Sometimes helps if I press power button...
*update 2
Now it's not helping any more if I press power button, seems that power button is not reacting at all sometimes, only if I hold him long enough to restart it.
In fact, now even restart is not helping.
I'm sorry, what ROM do you have? And do you have sweep2wake function on? 'cause I also have had problems with touch, when s2w was on, but I am not sure, what was the ROM that time...

It's a stock ROM-And sweep2wake is not on.
Have no idea what else to try.I tried to unlock bootloader, put CWM in because you can control it with buttons, made a backup of everything to USB, format everything, put everything back, but problem is still here. Now I also noticed that it has a delay when push power button for example when I press it screen goes off immidiately, but when I press it again, sometimes it takes 20 seconds just to turn screen on again. And of course, it still not reacting.
Now my last hope is that a ROM became corrupted somehow,so I will try to delete everything, and put some other ROM in.
Since, I am a noob, there will be a lot reading for me .
Everything wiped, unboxed ROM on, and a problem still persists.
Newest discovery:if I twist upper right corner a little bit, everything works fine.

Open up your phone and check the connector for the digitizer is properly connected, even remove it and blow into the connector to make sure there's no dust causing problems.
You can test the screen response before putting the back cover on again, its pretty easy and there are videos on YouTube showing how to remove the back, good luck.

I found some time to open it yesterday evening, and connectors are as they should be.I also tried to remove them, and blow them out, but no use.
Thank you anyway.
I think I will sell it like this for parts.
