I finally decided to flash a new rom since my note 2 after year and a half started to seriously lag on me. I downloaded via goomanager the following rom Bam 2.0 rc3 20140304 kitkat l900. zip along with pa gapps stock 4.4.2 20131215 zip. I made a stupid mistake of not doing a backup since I thought that TWRP will save my last backup. When I flash the rom they seem to be working but when the rom is trying to activate my mobile data service, it just lags for a long while, and at the end says that activation can take a few minutes. After a long while it tells me that it failed to connect. I am stuck, i have tried reinstalling various stock files via odin but to no avail. Now I have also retry using the galaxy note toolkit v 4.1.0 but I can't get to the usb debugging mode since the rom won't load all the way. Does anybody now what I did wrong? Or how can I fix this problem? I have been reading all kinds of posts and try many solutions, please help. Thank you in advance.

Hey
I just got my replacement phone today (previous one smashed) and have been trying to put an aosp (tasks AOKP) ROM on for a while now and I can't get it to work!
I have a twrp recovery and was bone stock earlier today (4.1.1). Everytime I try to flash tasks 6/7 update I get the error in the title. Any ideas? I updated the bootloader before trying this as well. I tried reinstalling the ROM several times to no avail. Any ideas? Should I just odin stock and start fresh? Is there a quicker method of fixing this? Is it a bad recovery?
my apologies if this has been answered before. I have been searching for hours now and found a few similar problems but on other phones that I couldn't relate to my problems. any help would be much appreciated!
Thanks!!!
[EDIT] Problem solved. I was previously on TWRP 2.5 for d2can. I used odin to put on TWRP 2.3 for d2att and all is well now.
Hello,
This is going to come off as noob-ish:
How can I flash a 4.3 TW-based ROM onto my rooted Canadian (Bell) Note 2?
I was running CeanROM5 for a while, flashed SlimKat 4.4 last weekend but I'd like to go back to TW.
I'm usually pretty familiar with rooting and flashing ROMs (Desire Z, Note 10.1, Nexus 7...etc.), but I've read too many horror stories of people loosing their modems, IMEI going wrong...etc. with the Note 2, especially since there's a few variations of the device, so I want to be careful.
I was going to flash the stock firmware from Sammobile via Kies but my phone is being detected as a i317 and not a i317m and I'm wondering if that's a problem? (I know I could use ODIN, but again, I'm worried about screwing up the modem with what little I know right now) I was then going to use CF-Auto-Root (as I'm sure I'll lose root) to clean things up.
TL;DR I've got a Canadian (Bell) Note 2 running SlimKat, how to get onto a TW-based 4.3 rom without screwing anything up?
Thanks guys!
So, after waiting hours for the stock 4.3 firmware to download from Sammobile - it was corrupt, so I'm re-downloading, therefore I can't flash via odin just yet (apparently I still have another 2 hours on this download).
Kies won't recognize my phone either (I suspect this might be due to the whole i317 vs i317m thing?). I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling kies on my PC, using different USB ports, and rebooting my phone...etc.
Again, any help would be super appreciated! Thanks!
Alright, so I'm running 4.3 and everything is working (wifi, modem...etc) but I can access superSU.
I used CF-Auto Root and it looked like it flashed the stock recovery. I have superSU installed but I can only open (not uninstall) it from the Play Store.
However, every time I do try to open it I get the pop up window "unfortunately, SuperSU has stopped".
So what am I doing wrong?
I guess this thread can be deleted as I seem to have sorted things out.
Philz recovery is very nice BTW.
Hi,
I was on the paranoid 4.4.4 rom on my I9300, everything worked fine.
I did the last update with paranoid 5.1.1 but it didn't worked well, i have multiple error and Google service won't work anymore.
The thing is, i can't do anything at all, like restore my last backup because i lost the root access with the update.
I can't load in recovery mode, i tried the HOME+VOLUME DOWN (or up) + POWER, it won't work.
I can't fine the debug mode on this version, so i really don't know how i can at least restore my last backup to go back to the 4.4.4 version.
Any help is appreciated, thaks for your time.
Root doesn't ship with any 5.x build of paranoid android. To reset you need to boot into recovery and restore your backup or flash a different ROM.
You don't need root access for that.
It sounds like you installed an incompatible gapps....
Thanks for your reply,
I managed to boot in recovery, using a method i found on the web, i pull the battery then hold the combination keys when i put it back, and it load in recovery just fine.
I think i couldn't install the proper gapps because i was in clockwork recovery, i installed the latest TWRP, but i still can't manage to install the latest paranoid rom prpoperly.
here's what i did so far:
- wipe all/ factory reset , install Paranoid5.1.1 + Gapps 5.1 mini => paranoid load but Black screen once it's loaded with the message "Android.phone interrupted" (gross traduction) popping every 2 sec, it disapear if i put the phone on airplane mode => make me think the Google service can't connect.
- Restore my last 4.4.4 backup then => wipe cache/dalvik=>install Paranoid 5.1.1 + gapps => same as the previous problem, but this time i have my old app and i can call and receive sms.
My guess so far is a problem with the Google service who can't synchronize, the Gapps i try to use are the pa_gapps-modular-pico-5.1-20150315-signed.zip
Any guess ?
Yeah. The problem is you are using old gapps. Use banks gapps
I had trouble with a clean install of PA 5.1 + Gapps on my S3 (i9300) and similar issues to yours, not sure why but I found that if I used th full fat "Stock" 5.1 Gapps the phone was fine and has been for a day or 2 now, the pico/mini/full seemed to be problematic (at least for me). Also moved to Philz Recovery using the "Rashr" app as my old CWM kept throwing an error of status 6 on any Gapps I downloaded... Must admit though that once stable PA Lollipop runs well on the S3 and battery seems better over the past couple of days too...
I recently went from a touchwiz rom to a CM rom last week. After I kept getting tired of some of the issues I was having I attempted to install a touchwiz rom. Everything seemed to work but I am unable to connect to the sprint network at all. I used a different rom and I got the exact same results. Weird thing is that if I go back to the CM rom it can connect to the network if I update the prl(Which I cannot do on the touchwiz roms). Any ideas on what I can do to fix this?
Going back to TW, you should wipe everything but extSdCard, power down, boot into download mode and Odin stock tar and let it auto reboot. Go thorough setup wizard and check for full function on stock before flashing TWRP and custom ROM.
You may see a reboot before setup wizard completes; expect one at some point before proceeding.
Most likely, you need OG5 tar if that was your last full update. Use that one unless you're certain you had OB7 or older bootloader.

Hello guys,
It's been a while since the last time I visited the SGS3 section, over a year ago I remember updating the bootloader in order to upgrade/flash to 4.4.4 which went very smooth and was a success. I gave the phone to a sibling who has been very happy with it for the last year and a half. Lately, the phone has been very unstable with the 4.4.4 KitKat ROM, WiFi doesn't turn on, Bluetooth is unstable, Unstable apps/Force closes. I tried a wipe/factory restore and re-flashed the ROM but the problems persisted.
I did a little research and liked what CyanogenMod is doing and since they are actively supporting the phone I decided to flash CM12.1 and the provided Open Google-Apps, CM12.1 flashed successfully but Open Google-apps refused to install, CWM displayed (Section 6) error which upon research it is common with CWM and the solution is to flash TWRP. I booted with CM12.1 in order to install TWRP Manager through the APK and flash TWRP but it force-closed when it searched for the device model. WiFi was working but Bluetooth was still unstable.
I would like to know what would be the best way to proceed in this case, I would like to upgrade the recovery to TWRP and flash CM12.1 or any other stable Lollipop ROM.
Thanks,
Oscar
