Yeah when are they planning to roll out kitkat update? Would that update remove knox for those of us already with it?

no kitkat update for gs3 (international versons that is)
Samsung's galaxy s3 wiill only see KitKat on its versions sold in the US (maybe Canada). apparently there’s not enough RAM in the internationally sold model for the update to work well. The Galaxy S III has 1 GB of RAM internationally. KitKat is well optimized for running on devices with as low as 512 MB of RAM… so its not because of the OS, but TouchWiz gets in the way.
Samsung’s heavy UI overlay has been criticized for, well, being too heavy, occupying too much space, and consuming too many resources (one of the most important ones is RAM). So while ‘vanilla’ KitKat may run soundly on devices with just 512 MB of RAM, and it has no problems doing the same thing on, say, the Moto G (which has 1 GB), the i9300 Galaxy S III will never see this version of the OS. Because TouchWiz.
Heres the list of devices that made the list to receive updates for 4.4 kitkat update.:
: Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4 Active, Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy S4 Zoom, Galaxy Note II, Galaxy Mega 6.3, Galaxy Mega 5.8, Galaxy Grand, Galaxy Express 2, Galaxy Note 10.1, Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition, Galaxy Note 8.0, Galaxy Tab 3 7.0, Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, Galaxy Tab 3 10.1, and Galaxy Grand 2 LTE. Some of these may jump directly to 4.4, and others that are running older software versions may still receive some interim updates as well

And as to when... Whenever they feel like it. Then we'll have to do some work before we have a rooted version. And addressing the question about Knox, what do you mean "update"? If you have Knox, you're stuck with it, there's nothing to update.

Motorola Droid Nexus ~_^ )
Why do you need both of these s3 threads?

Absolutely yes! If you end up liking your galaxy nexus better, then just sell the s3 and buy another nexus while making a nice profit.
Depends on how your planing to use your phone =)

The Greatest of all time, you just don't know it yet.
This shouldn't even be a question...
Why would u ask a question like this on galaxy Nexus forum.
You would normally ask this at the S3 Forums. They'll all be saying, "F**k yeah trade it for a S3!!!"
Here we'll be all, "uhhhhh..... no. Google Nexus FTW. "

My friend has an S2 and a S3. He hates the S3. Cheap plastic design that is really bad unlike the S2. And he dropped it once and the phone took some nice damage. He in fact said if Samsung keeps this up, he isn't gonna buy Samsung androids anymore. Another thing will be OS upgrades. S3 users are struggling with cm10's ram leak and stock Samsung stock unreleased jelly bean which has WiFi issues. Whatever I'm saying is based on my friend's experience on the i9300 not the US variants. On the nexus, we had jelly bean stable months ago. Ever since Google I/O in fact.

Samsung S-Band

Samsung recently announced the S-Band that will work together with the S-Health 2.0 app for Samsung Galaxy S4.
Any chance it will be possible to work with the Galaxy Nexus?

The band works with the S Health App on the S4, which is added by touchwiz. The Galaxy nexus doesn't have touchwiz nor the app and im doubting Samsung will release the S Health app individually. I also believe the S Band works with bluetooth 4.0 but stock android doesnt support bluetooth 4.0 in code.
Dumb move if you ask me... If Samsung doesn't make this work with my Samsung phone, I'll just buy some other $100 bluetooth band out on the market NOW....
I'm not quite understanding the craze with these Bluetooth bands. Besides counting steps and calories do they do anything else special?

Sure, sleep patterns sound cool but I literally have no use for them. If the band is less then $50 then sure I'll buy one just for the heck of it, but over $50 and its just not worth it.

help me choose my ROM... bluetooth and 4g lte a must.

I did a search in this forum about the bluetooth problems and I see a bunch of users with the same problem I have... I have the latest OTA update on my galaxy nexus and cannot pair my phone with my Pioneer AppRadio in my car via bluetooth, it discovers the radio and as soon as I click to pair, it skips the sign up box and just comes up WRONG PASSWORD OR PASS KEY, and after scouring the net for solutions I have yet found one besides going down to the previous version, I can do that, and dont mind it, but I have a soft spot for custom rom's on android phones.
Here's my main question: I need a good stable ROM that bluetooth will work with, and also one that will work with 4G LTE, can someone please lead me in the right direction?
Little about me: I know how to flash items in custom recovery just fine. I have owned 2 previous android phones: evo4g, and galaxy S2, and both were updated regularly with custom ROMs. I had a leaked version of HTC sense5.0 on the evo, the charger port came loose from the motherboard I upgraded to the galaxy S2, you should have seen the sprint store rep when he saw it! haha
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP!!
I'm pretty sure GNex lacks the hardware for LTE, so custom ROM's won't give you that ability.

But exynos is not having good dev support due to open source code not release yet by the Samsung and snapdragon is best dev support bcoz of source code is available !
and it was seen with android 4.2.2 weee... we are not getting any update soon I guess as we will have lots of mali related problems
Or maybe its the note 3 just disguised as a note 2.
And who knows. Its super easy to change the name of your device and android version in the build prop

Thats a fair point about the lack of dev support but tbh since I got my note2 and note 10 all I need is to root remove bloatware apps, the stock roms these days have very little lag and are very good. So why am I here on xda? I love my tech and reading people's posts and whats new in the Android world.
The last custom room I ran was on my tab 7.7 ..... months ago.
